I requested a quote online for my upcoming move. The next morning my phone rings while I am working with a client so I didn't answer and I silenced my phone. The person proceeded to call 4 times within 2 minutes and didn't bother to leave a voicemail. I then receive an email from Jayson saying he would like to get more information for my quote. He also followed up with a text message at the same time. Four hours later he emails and texts again. I finally call him back in the evening and he gave me a quote of almost $1,000 to move from a studio to an apartment 8 miles away. He sent me the quote via email and text while on the phone. Fine. I confirmed I had received it. The next day he emails me and texts me; it hasn't even been 24 hours since he sent the quote. He immediately follows up with...you guessed it; 3 calls within a minute before I could get the chance to block his number. This harassing behavior of chasing customers is no way to impress someone to do business with you. Jayson needs some serious retraining on initial contact and follow-up timelines. read more

I had a simple job of moving one washing machine upstairs and the broken washing machine downstairs. Ramiro and Johnie looked at the job, talked about what they would do, then carefully wrapped the machine until it was carefully padded. They used some straps that put most of the weight on their forearms. The machine never touched anything. Between the two of the they managed to "float" one machine down and the new machine up. I was thinking that they would use a dolly and possibly damage my oak stairway but using their technique meant there was no contact with anything. They worked quickly but carefully. I negotiated a good price ahead of time and there were no surprise fees. They appear to be a good honest company whose goal is to please the customer. I would definitely use them again. read more

I had to schedule a last minute move when I found out we closed escrow early and had to move out earlier than anticipated. Andrew and Ritchie were pros and put all my fears to rest immediately. On May 31st, 2018, my wife and I moved from Oxnard, back to Camarillo where we had lived for 3 years, until June 1st, 2017. The move in 2017 cost $1,016 from a different mover. Virtually, the same distance and the same belongings. This year, Unique charged us $1,542 for 3 movers for 8 hours. The 50% increase in cost is completely unreasonable. I was given a quote several days earlier and I was told 3 men for 3 hours plus tax. I told the woman I had approximately 200 boxes, and she quoted me a price of slightly over $600. The movers were fine. Unfortunately, even with the largest truck in their fleet, the driver was continually moving the boxes around on the truck, so my belongings would fit. Eventually, everything fit , but I was forced to pay for the time the movers spent waiting for the driver to move the boxes on the truck. The movers should have accounted for this time and deducted it from the bill. The owner was notified and rejected any compromise. read more

Unique Moving helped us relocate from Camarillo to Thousand Oaks today. I really appreciated how professional they were & how fast they did everything. My boyfriend did his best to make sure the job was easy for the two movers (Johnny & Fernando) by moving everything in the living room. But they still had a challenge at our new apartment because of the entry way. Johnny asked if they could come in through the patio instead since the door was wider. Move/clean-out was in August 2018. I've been too angry and upset to write a review until now: I had an unbelievably negative experience with Unique. It was a nightmare. They didn't follow clear and explicit instructions, they didn't finish the job in the time promised (3-4 days became TWO WEEKS), they left the job and went off to work other moves, they didn't respond to repeated phone calls and texts asking when they would be back to the site, they couldn't tell me what happened to all my plants, indoor and outdoor furniture and yard art, antique and vintage collectibles, the contents of my two sheds, and many thousands of dollars worth of other possessions that were missing. I met with Rodney the first morning of the move and told him, "don't sort through my things, pack it all up and take it to storage." Shortly after that day I was hospitalized. Furniture, housewares, clothing, and tons of my things were seen in the trash. Rodney said he didn't know what happened to my things. He tried to tell me my neighbors stole my belongings. They finally completed the move two weeks later. I was still hospitalized and completely at their mercy. "Unique" is unique in that they broke my bank account - and my heart. I have been grieving for months over the loss of, not only my household goods, but heirlooms and mementos. I've had to spend thousands of dollars replacing household essentials that they either threw away or stole, and this has been a real hardship on my limited Social Security income. Because they abandoned the job for more than two weeks, with no communication (leaving their enormous roll-away Dumpster in front of my house), they say they can't account for the disposition of my goods. They took outrageous advantage of me being hospitalized, violated my trust and the terms of our agreement. Plain and simple, this company violated their fiduciary duty to take care of my belongings, and I had to pay them more than $10,000 for their lack of integrity. Yes, $10,000+ to pack up my house and move it to storage just FIVE miles away. My valuables and treasures are gone forever, and I'm having to start all over, something I never envisioned in the final years of my life. read more

Unique Movers has restored my faith!!! I last used a moving service (Meathead) about four years ago, and had THE worst experience ever. Not only did they over charge me (quoted $375. Paid $700+), they seemingly lacked the basic knowhow to move, their moving truck broke down, damaged my belongings (broke my tv, dented up my fridge door, and scratched my sons bunk bed) as well as the door frame of the home I was moving out of for which I had to pay. Since that unfortunate experience I was VERY skeptical about using any moving company ever again. One day I found myself in a need to move suddenly and quickly! I gave Unique Movers a call. They were able to get me in the very next day!!! Sweeeeet! Their quote was reasonable, with a three hour time frame. My move was very small (One bedroom home), but too heavy for me to do on my own. On the day of my move, Starla and Angel arrived on time with helpful smiles & a 'ready to go' attitude. As things got underway, I was impressed with their efficiency, experience, communication, and carefulness. My move involved two locations with two stops. After carefully loading my things onto their truck (took all of 45 mins) we went to my first stop which was up the road a bit. Angel & Starla carefully unloaded my stuff in about 35 mins. We then proceeded to the storage facility across town to unload the items I was not in need of, which were bigger and heavier i.e. icebox, sofa, large kitchen table, etc. After all was said and done they moved me in a little under the three hours allotted. There were no unexpected charges, no damages, and no worries. How was it that Starla and Angel (who was in training) moved basically the same stuff in under three hours with an additional location included, and the Meatheads took well over five? Job well done guys. Reached out around 10pm for emergency help moving a very heavy safe. Tim emailed me back immediately even though it was late. He gave me a fair rate and scheduled exactly when I needed him. The next day the crew showed up exactly on time with all of the proper equipment. They had the safe loaded for us in no time and they helped us secure it and wrap it to protect. Honestly we tried another moving company a day earlier and they almost killed one of their crew wrestling with this heavy safe. They could not do the job. Do. NOT. Use. ANY. OTHER. COMPANY!!!! We have unfortunately had to move several times in the last couple of years, thanks to rental companies gauging renters. These guys are THE BEST! Professional: they call back when you need them to; they let you know everything up front; they clearly have a good time with their co-workers, but do so in a professional and careful (for your things) manner. Cost-Effective: these guys cost things out for you before the move starts to make sure you get the best deal. We unfortunately have to move on June 1st - again - and they broke down the cost of boxes for us, helped us figure out the cheapest way to manage the move, and so on. When they show up on moving day, they break everything down for you. Careful and safe: safety for your things, themselves, and everyone in your house is important to these guys. They wrap stuff you thought shouldn't have been wrapped; they make sure the area is clear so no one is injured. These guys are on it! We moved just a year ago and unfortunately have to move again, due to completely unreasonable increases in our rent. When I called they remembered us and helped me figure out the best way to handle this. We have always been so happy with these moves, and I cannot recommend them highly enough! read more

They sent over Hercules and The Incredible Hulk (two guys named Andy and Phil) to my house. These strong men took the hugest armours, giant desks, king size beds ect. down the steps to my garage no problem. I want to write this review simply to inform individuals who are currently in the moving process to avoid this company. As a several time mover, I have moved with several companies; most recently I had confirmed to be moved with Unique movers. I cannot stress my disappointment with the service I was provided. On the day of my move, when I had requested three movers, only two were sent. I was understanding about this initial incident being that it was due to external influence but this became an inconvenience when I was informed at first that no mover could be sent out to replace the third mover that I was promised and then later when they confirmed a third mover would be sent out, I was simply told they would be there "sometime." While I was trying to figure out my situation and the next steps we could take, I was told that to do a 7 hour move that I had done before with three men, it would take 17 hours with two. Since these issues occurred on the day of my move, I was put in a very desperate position. With no other options I agreed to start the move with the two men. They told me that they were going to park on the road and call their office to confirm this plan and then they simply drove off and left. Without any communication or word they simply drove off. To top of the experience, I contacted the owner Rodney who was not at all sympathetic or understanding to my situation and said he would contact the movers and then call me back. I was never called back, instead I received a text two hours later saying that my move was cancelled. This was not only a terrible moving experience but a terrible personal experience in general. Luckily I found a terrific moving company that same day but I would never wish the stress of this experience on anyone in the already stressful time that moving is. read more

I am very reluctant to write negative reviews as I try to always think about issues that pop up from time from both sides. When I do write a rare review, it is to praise positive experiences. Unfortunately, after thinking about this for a few months, I feel compelled to share my poor experience with Unique Moving; I hired Unique Moving for our 30 mile move from Agoura Hills, CA to Westwood Village, CA. After an initial telephone conversation with the office, Rodney Watson, the owner of the company came to our home to give an estimate of hours. During this first meeting I made it clear to Mr. Watson the new location's HOA had a hard cut off time of 4:30 PM for movers and that we were moving into a high rise building on the Wilshire Corridor. The move was in late July, 2017. With clear understanding of the move restrictions, Mr. Watson estimated our job to be completed in one day, assuming we start at 6:00 - 6:30AM in the Agoura Hills location. 6:00AM to 4:30PM time frame would require some overtime (less any time spent for lunch - then add approximately two hours for overtime). I placed a condition on this move that Mr. Watson himself was be on this move to supervise. The overtime charged for day one was three hours and there are add-ons to the bill that included a travel charge of $195, a flight charge of $30 and materials of $46.50. Unfortunately, they were unable to complete the move in the estimated time and Mr. Watson informed me that he would not be able to be there for day two. His crew of 3 arrived to begin the second day, to finish up what they were unable to complete the day prior. They struggled to get the dining room table into the elevator and proceeded to damage the table with significant chips & scrapes. They then decided to disassemble the table. Sadly, they did not have proper tools, or an understanding of how to disassemble our dining room table (simply to remove the top from it's base). During their efforts to disassemble, they completely stripped (what I later learned) turned out to be a simple standard wood screw, further damaging the table and making it impossible to disassemble without proper tools. The Unique Moving crew informed me that they could either just leave the table in the parking area (not allowed by the HOA) or take it back to Agoura Hills. As a point of information, the movers had to drive back thru Agoura Hills to return to their base of operations anyway, but they charged me for all of the time including travel time. Also, they had the audacity to charge for the time they spent damaging our dining room table, the time loading it back on the truck, as well as the time they spent driving it back to Agoura Hills. Plus, they actually charged for the add-ons, same as day before. Further, I was able to overhear the conversation between the moving crew call and Mr. Watson asking if he should charge overtime on day two, Mr. Watson said yes! So, a job that was supposed to be and estimated to be one day plus a little overtime, turned into two full days that included overtime caused solely by Unique Mover's ineptitude and lack of ability to disassemble a dining room table. I wrote clearly on the second day receipt that I dispute the time charged and damaged the dining room table and that the dining room table was not delivered to complete the job. After numerous correspondences with Mr. Watson attempting to find a fair resolution, he would not offer anywhere near a reasonable amount. He finally offered to reimburse $255, which was only one hour of second day overtime. I informed him of my intentions to dispute the charges. Mr. Watson then said if I was going to dispute any charge, he would withdraw his offer. During these discussions, Mr. Watson did send a furniture repair person to attempt to repair the scrapes to the surface and deep wood chips, but because of the nature of the damage the moving crew did, the table ended up looking slightly better, however, not close to it's condition prior to the move. So, at the end of the second day, we were left with a damaged, undelivered dining room table that needed special attention to remove the stripped screw and then additional cost to have it moved to our new location. Again, as I first mentioned in this review, I try to look at what is fair for both sides when issues come up in life. I understand that things happen and people don't intentionally damage property and that moving is a challenging task. However, it is completely unreasonable for me to have been charged for the time that the crew spent attempting to dissemble, damage and then drive back. To sum up; This was originally estimated to be one day (cost of approximately $2300), turned into a two full days fiasco that ended up costing approximately $4000. After calculation, I feel we paid this company approximately an extra $935! Think long and hard before you hire this company and do not rely on their words or promises. Respectfully, read more

They arrived early, worked in the rain and still did a careful and excellent job moving and had great advice regarding the best way to pack more of my things and were overall really helpful. Review for 10/24/2017 service. Found this review unfinished in my account. Still wanted to post it. The only reason this is a 2 star review is because, at least, along the way they were nice about everything, even if they were failing to provide good service. Nice, but, sadly, not of any use. I am prefacing by stating that any service with a time window can be hit or miss. That is just the nature of providing a service where a job could inflate to multiple additional hours or take a few hours less than expected. That is why a range is given in the first place to cover an early or late finish. In this case, trying to book with unique seemed straight-forward. A range was offered and a price quoted. 3 guys at $225 to move a heavy piece of furniture in my house from downstairs to an upstairs bedroom. Here is an outline of the various issues. 1) Scheduling for an upcoming Tuesday, quoted $225 for 3 member team to move the piece (it's very heavy) or $175 for a 2 member team if I am willing to assist. That's fine, makes sense - needing more people is going to be more expensive. So, the issue. When I inquired the next day about a later date I was then quoted a different price - now $350. Why? According the company because the price is cheaper if the team is already at another job in morning. If your pricing is conditional, tell me so. Also, I am sure the morning person is not receiving a 'discount' because there is more than one job in the day. A little shady, but I sort of see the logic. This is why I am not counting it as a strike. 2) The window provided was 1-4pm on the Tuesday. I work a good distance from my home, but arranged to be back by to the house by 1pm to be available for the movers at the start of the window. The movers called Tuesday morning to let me know their previous job finished early and they wanted to come by in 30 minutes. This is at 10AM. This, in itself, isn't an issue. If I was available and had someone home, I would be fine doing it early. The issue is what happened next. First, I indicated I had setup my day so I would be available at the beginning of the window at 1PM. The mover who called told me they had the window as 12-3. So that's strike 1 on miscommunication from the office being wrong. Not a huge deal depending on if they honor the original window, but you'll see what happened next. 3) The mover who called says he'll need to call me back to figure out if they can even do the job today because 'I can't have these guys sitting around. They are hourly. We may need to see if we can do it tomorrow". So, if the previous job ends early, apparently the window doesn't matter. They may just cancel your appointment, which is essentially what they did with mine - they asked to move to a different day. Just note, it's not just the time window quoted that doesn't matter to them - it's also the day. Apparently, as the paying customer, I need to be available, not at a schedule time window on a particular day, but whenever the movers decides. Strike 2. 4) I communicated back with the office person I scheduled with initially. I asked why the window changed and the response was it's only an estimate. Well, you provide a window because your estimated when the previous job will finish and it could be you are able to be there right the start or not until the ends. When I asked about the movers possible not coming because I wasn't available 3 hours earlier than the start of the window, the response was "we in the office who is communicating by text is unaware of the mover who is calling. It would be best to call back that number or text back that number to work out a time". Essentially, I am being told to figure it out myself. Are these your employees? Strike 3. I am hoping the above makes it obvious that customer service is not a priority here. Communication is poor and the only time they seem to value is their own. If I ever saw the movers, maybe the job would have been completed in an excellent fashion. Hard to say, but because of the service issues, there was never even the chance. It's never good to have an experience with a service provider to see they couldn't care less about the customers time or inconvenience. There's an fairly well-known business tenet. Follow the money. In this case, that means, pay attention to whose paying you. They need to be a high priority. read more

This is the second time I've used Unique Movers. Mine was a short notice move. I called during the week and was able to get a move that same weekend. Not every company has such a good availability. They are very good about explaining all of the charges and if you are on a budget and need to keep it under a certain amount of time and therefore money, they tell you when you hit the three hour mark which is the minimum and that way you can choose if you want to go on or have them stop. I also appreciate that they did not have to come first thing in the morning. I was able to get a start time of noon which gave me more time in the morning to keep packing. James, Gabe and Romero took care of my move and they did a great job. They were very careful with all of my stuff. They will wrap everything up and if you have loose items they will either box it up or wrap it up as applicable. Not only do they wrap everything up but then they unwrap it when they get to the destination. Something to be aware of is if you have secondhand beat up furniture (like I do) they still treat it like an antique heirloom and that takes some time and will cost a little more money than some cheaper movers (such as renting a U-Haul and paying some of your coworkers to help you. Hire Unique Movers- it's worth it.) The three gentlemen were friendly and polite and even though moving is hard work they kept their masks on the entire time. They moved everything at a quick but safe pace. After the move is over they explain the charges again so you know what you paid for.
