My friend and I were walking by and decided we should stop in for a fix; unfortunately we left rather disappointed. The staff was very nice, but also very young and not so experienced at the customer service side of things. Our order took FORever and mine arrived wrong...then to get it resolved also took an act of parliament. My ice cream tasted like the cheapest crap you can by from the store with no flavor because it is mostly air. The toppings were just very sugary again, with no rich flavor that I would expect from a top notch ice cream joint. My friend has a waffle-chocolate concoction, which looked impressive however again was way too sugary and not full of much flavor. I don't think I would ever come here again with my customer service experience combined with the poor quality of ingredients!

They were so kind and charismatic, I wish I could remember their names. It was just the two of them working and they were still able to give everyone a good bit of attention and bring out food and drinks promptly. After seeing how tasty their menu looked we ordered a cinnamon roll and were not the slightest bit disappointed. We also ordered hot chocolate shots which were more of a shot of fondue but equally delicious! This is somewhere you must stop in Glasgow!

Let me set the scene for you...if you have visited their place on St Enoch Square it is very…read moresimilar to this only larger and with tables. If you have never been in to Nics Deli (why not? what is wrong with you?) it is a cool, but incredibly busy little lunch spot with a wall of cool black and white pictures, a large service counter and a few painted wooden tables dotted around so you can choose to sit in. Okay! Okay! enough about the decor, lets talk about the food because this little slice of American heaven is a lunch time mecca for me - Hotdogs, Sandwiches, Wraps, Baked Potatoes, Salad Bowls and Taco Bowls crammed full of delicious and imaginative fillings....you can find their full menu here, I would tell you all my favourites but honestly I love them all. As well as a great choice of savoury options their sweet offerings are off the charts amazing - the donuts are INCREDIBLE, best donuts I have ever tasted, and again with amazing flavours and topping to choose from. Also on offer is a selection of light fluffy american pancakes and waffles with tons of lush flavours to choose from. Are you getting the impression that i love this place? Because I really really do. On this particular visit I ordered a foot long cheesy pig dog, which is a hotdog covered in bacon and melted cheese and was exactly as delicious as it sounds....although this is definitely something I need to eat with a fork and knife because it is so big and messy. For dessert I choose what can only be described as the king of all donuts - a cookies donut sandwich! I'll give you a moment just to process the thought of a cookie donut sandwich!....... This is one of their regular freshly baked donuts slathered in fondant and sandwiched between two crunchy but chewy peanut butter cookies, then topped with honeycomb and more fondant - are you speechless? I certainly was when I saw it and I can't even begin to tell you how epic it tasted, even if it did take me 3 sittings to finish it. Nics Deli is one of my favourite lunch time spots in G-Town, due to the calorie count I clock up on my visits I tend to keep it as a treat and maybe only visit once a month....but boy the calories are worth it.

I'm not in this part of the city often so have to admit I was very pleased to see this place! I've eaten in all three now, and each have the same menu of deliciousness (they should call it that actually - BOW DOWN BEFORE THE MENU OF DELICIOUSNESS!) chock full of taste combos that make me salivate, all available on a variety of breads or whacked on a baked potato. And that's before I get to the donuts (better than Krispy Kreme?). I had the Manwich - horrible name, great sandwich. A wonderfully meaty affair, but all of it tasted great, soft and moist turkey breast, nicely peppered pastrami and... some ham I think too? Chuck some BBQ sauce in there, throw it all on a ciabatta, toast it and deliver to my face hole, stat!! Is what I didn't say to the lady who served me, but it was something like that... And I'm salivating now thinking back to it. Sure it's all a bit cheap and cheerful, but the staff are always friendly, and you can even mix up your own amazing concoction of deliciousness if you are feeling creative! It's kinda hard to fault any of these establishments, so if I was being very picky I'd suggest that this one was a little cold inside so I ended up keeping my jacket on. No biggie though!

I knew I had to come and have a look at the new and improved Buchanan Galleries foodcourt. To say…read moreimproved wouldn't be hard as it was just Super Generic Food Court before hand. The Burger King is still in place, however, so if you feel the need for a whopper, you can still get that. The star are the independent retailers though. I'm led to believe they rotate and change with a few regulars staying, so I'm obviously just reviewing what I had from Surf Dog. There were many options from lots of different cuisines, but as soon as I saw a chilli dog, my mind was made up. With the dog for £6, a side for £3 - I had onion rings, rather than the sweet potato fries - and a can of soft drink for £1, my meal came to a reasonable tenner. The Taste Buchanan set up is pretty unusual in that it's made out to be an outdoor garden, only indoors and on the top floor of a shopping centre. Garden benches and school style chairs are the order of the day, and it's a nice touch not to be presented again with generic seating from Bland Furniture R Us or wherever food courts usually go. After a short wait for my food to be prepared from scratch, it arrived. The chill dog was gorgeous, presented with just the right mix of chilli, sour cream and grilled jalapenos to be a total and utter mess to eat... that's the sign of a good chilli dog, folks. The chilli itself was warm and wholesome, not too spicy so the heat didn't overwhelm the taste of the dog, but the addition of the grilled jalapenos meant you could add extra heat if you wanted. Of course I did, because that's how I roll. The onion rings were light, crispy and just ideal for dipping in leftover chilli and sour cream. I would definitely get a side order of those again! To sum up, I love the idea of various retailers in one place and changing from time to time, if they're all of this quality and value for money, then it's definitely going to be a hit. I should remember though, that there is no graceful way to eat a chilli dog in public, although at least this time, I managed to avoid spilling it down my shirt, which is a bonus and unusual.

What a great concept, and so far the offerings have been top notch…read more The idea is simple enough - rotate 'street food' vendors in a permanent space - giving smaller vendors an opportunity in a prime location, and giving us punters the chance to sample the wares of some places we might not have tried otherwise. I was lucky enough to be there on opening night and have been back twice since and I've not been disappointed with the food on offer yet. On the first night I tried a few of the offerings including bao from Chompsky - I tried two, the garlic mushroom, and the pulled pork, both delicious - and a sneaky slice of pizza from Nomad (part of the Firebird team I think). Ohhh and of course I started with ice cream from Equis (hey, it's the first stall you see....). I didn't get over to Union Waffles (look right as you come up the escalator as it's set back away from the other vendors, nor could I fit in any cupcakes by Paige, but there is always next time! I managed to chat to the guy who runs it (and the others) and the premise is that they will rotate every now and then, possibly more often at peak times, but the goal is to bring local vendors, offering quality food, to the masses. I was back last week to try Surf Dog which was also pretty good, a good quality hot dog with crushed nachos and a nice salsa. Downsides would be the layout, which on a busy Friday lunchtime ends up with a long queue of people in one place not realising that you can queue for each vendor independently, and the major downside was the time it took to get our food. Hopefully just teething issues, it'll be a different setup for most of the vendors I'd imagine, switching from a van/truck at a site, to peak lunchtime in the city centre! Price wise it runs about average for a lunch, £5 seems the average for most dishes which, given it's fresh food (unlike the processed guff next door at Burger King) seems reasonable. Anyway I don't mind paying a little extra to get these kind of options in the city centre. I really hope it takes off and is successful, I know I'll be back again! Top tip: get the app (there are signs all over the seating area) to keep up to date with new additions and rotations!

As I was just popping in for a quick visit, I just grabbed some baked goods to go. Today is their first day of opening and my gosh, they look like a very slick operation already. I'm not sure who is behind the business but they certainly know their stuff - the place looks amazing, the food is drool-worthy and the staff were all super friendly and chatty. I couldn't resist the lure of a couple of donuts which are plain and sugar coated. I noticed some very delicious looking stuffed-brioche and got those two - plain, caramalised onion or feta and spinach filled. The total for two donuts and two brioche £10 which I thought was pretty pricey (and the only reason this is 4 rather than 5 star) - maybe they'll be the best damn brioche I've ever eaten though so I might update this review in a couple of hours. [Edited: after I posted this, I got a message from the owner to say that I should have been charged around £7.50 so there must have been a mistake at the till. I really appreciated that, so have updated the score to the full 5 stars as it was so nice of them to get in touch about it! The donut and brioche were both absolutely delicious too, by the way.] They have an epic brunch menu which I'll have to come back for - brioche French toast, eggs benny, pancakes, waffles. Everything is made fresh and they certainly know how to make you drool over the food. If you're in for lunch, there's sandwiches (made on baked in-house bread), hot dishes and salads. Seb & Mili are opening another store in the next couple of weeks in Finnieston, by Old Salty's (the blue store currently being done up) - apparently that space is amazing, so I look forward to visiting there too.

The first time I tried Seb & Mili was with Queen B herself. We went over for some lunch and chit chat! I ordered from their brunch menu a plate of waffles and bacon, a combination that can't go wrong. However, my plate weren't as impressive as I'd hoped. The waffles themselves, though tasted fine, were SO SO SO thin! Aren't waffles suppose to be fluffy and crunchy on the outside but chewy on the inside? And the bacon, well ... I dunno ... weren't even crunchy? They were so pale, it was a tad questionable! I think Bri's special dish of chicken and corn was probably much better than what I got! The second time I went, I brought my friend over for coffee. She made the mistake of ordering a soy latte because boy was it baaaaadddd! They're obviously not the place to have a cuppa! They don't know how to make proper coffee at all, and add the bad management of soy milk, yikes! Her soy milk was curdling so bad that it looked like tofu. There's a certain method to making soy lattes/cappucinos, if you don't know it, don't serve it. Also, the coffee was burnt. Mine was as bitter as a car tyre. Added like 3 teaspoons of sugar to try and save it. Conclusion, don't order coffee from here. They have homemade cakes though, which are pretty ok I guess. We tried the muffins and brownies! Muffins are pretty decent but brownies were far too sweet for my liking. Perhaps a super sweet tooth would love it? Again, the space is lovely! Green and very comfy. The staff members are sweethearts too! They kinda save it for me. But they really need to reevaluate what they're serving their customers! The food can be so much better!

As a bar it is decent, seems a bit rough about the edges in a dive bar type of way, but the clientele usually are ok and the atmosphere always seems pleasant enough. It's got a lot going on, In that there is a club down stairs, food is served upstairs and there is also a lot of focus on it just being a pub. I've been a good few times and it's usually mobbed. I think that's partly because there ain't any other decent pubs on queen street (that I can think of) and it means everyone heads here. In other areas it might not be my first destination, but where it is it ranks quite highly amongst the places I would stop for a pint if passing. Sometimes it even has some unusual bottles of craft beer hidden in the fridges which is always a good thing. Could be a three on anther street, but a better option on queen street, so I will go with a positive 4 stars.
