No sense rushing into these things? lol Tim's is a friendly, local's pub that offers excellent customer service - Jessi - single handedly managed the bar, waited tables, bussed tables, etc. all with a smile! Tim's offers dining and gaming in a large, clean environment. There are a few pool tables, 2 shuffleboards, and electronic darts. History comes alive as you peruse old black-and-white photos that adorn the rich wood paneled walls. Mr. Wonderful ordered a burger and jojos (which could have been crisper), and I had a BLT and onion rings, very good. Our friends ordered cheeseburgers and fries and enjoyed their meals. The kids meals are a solid value - big portions of chicken strips and fries, and another with a grilled cheese and lots of tater tots. The bougie chicken bacon alfredo mac came on a big ole plate and kid #1 who ordered it, says it is very good. Myself and a friend split a Forester burger -- it comes a side, we chose onion rings, and while the burger is great (caramelized onion and gorgonzola are a fire combination), the onion rings were way overcooked to the point there was almost no onion left in the batter lol (saaaad). Kids # 2 and 3 order happy hour mozzarella sticks, soft pretzels, and panko shrimp. Everything is good according to the children and their limited taste buds. Adults order cocktails which are light on alcohol (sad face) but heavy on delicious flavors! Desserts for 3 kids, everyone says everything is great. Beyond the hollow onion rings, our service was a bit sub-par this time around. Kid #2 spilled his entire drink and while we got some help from the server in the form of bringing more napkins to the table, server girl did nothing about the lake of dr pepper on the floor below it. It was disappointing, not gonna lie. Kids are annoying, I get it, but we had to sit with our shoes in this mess. It dried enough in some spots that our shoes were literally sticking to the ground. Server girl also forgot to put the order in for the panko shrimp sooo kid #2 thought he was being punished because he got his shrimp after everyone else practically finished their meals lol. Our tab was close to 200 bucks. I cringe super hard at the thought of paying half that bill, and tipping fairly, if only because my shoe almost came off my foot when I finally stood up to leave. Dr Pepper almost got me.

Without a single clue what to do in Astoria (first time visitors), we parked for $10 in the Port of Astoria lot on the west side of town. It was a warm day, and we were hungry, so we took to Marine Drive to look for breakfast and this was the first place we saw. It says they serve it all day. I don't think they have their own lot but street parking doesn't seem to be a premium here. Later on, we discovered that this place also made the vet staff's recommended list which was a happy coincidence. It says on the door that they don't have public restrooms, which they don't, but they do have a men's and women's restroom for customers. Nice ambiance with the nautical theme and some slot machines (is gambling legal in Astoria?). I particularly liked the piece they took from a real ship called Raven and perched a fake raven on it on the wall. Makes the little goth in my heart happy. You order at the bar and the lady who took it wasn't the friendliest. P told me in retrospect that service was slow and she had a bit of an attitude when I asked him whether this place warranted a 4 or 5. I guess she did, but all I noticed was how good the food was! The workers breakfast for $14 is outstanding! The sausage patty is luscious with a nice bite of heat. They make your eggs perfectly and they cook their potatoes skin on in a skillet that leaves the edges with a nice crisp flavorful crust. You need the toast (we both ordered dry wheat) to mop up the egg and eat with the sausage to fill you up. Honestly, haven't had a breakfast where every single element of it was all of great quality. Plus, it's an almost perfect portion of food. I know I want to go back if I can just convince P to ignore the attitude. Another cool local hangout. There was a jolly bunch of older men drinking, laughing and chatting that provided an awesome soundtrack to our visit.

The Indy Way Diner popped up in my search so I gave it a try. I'm so glad I did. The front and back of house staff were welcoming and personable. They were very friendly and accommodating. I would come back again and again just because of how nice these folks were. Thank you. I ordered the Corned Beef Skillet and substituted hash browns for the diced potatoes. What a great meal. Everything came out piping hot and delicious. Do yourself a favor and get a side of the country gravy. You won't be disappointed. Sure, you might need a nap after a meal like this but you'll sleep well knowing you just ate something special. :)
