These days, there are classic donut shops, and what I call cheat code donuts spots. There's nothing wrong with being a cheat code donut shop. You're just paying more for more elaborate donuts. Union Square Donuts is a cheat code donut shop. The donuts look elaborate and great. My key lime pie bar donut was very good. Good outer texture. Good tart and sweet curd. A very tasty donut. But relative to a standard donut shop, you're paying more for it. Four Stars

Great spot for a bite at Time Out Boston Market Pros: + Large variety of flavors + Donuts were absolutely delicious + Friendly staff + Loved the Vietnamese donuts IG: QueenOfAdventureNYC

When I tell you these were the best donuts I've ever had. I've had a lotttt of donuts and they're better than voodoo. Possibly an unpopular opinion but I stand by it. Get the French Cruller with brown sugar glaze and you won't be disappointed!

I came with union square food market and we got this for dessert. Overall, I was impressed by the texture of these donuts: they were light and fluffy rather than dense and chewy. They're also not overly sweet, which is rare but delightful. Of the three we got (Vietnamese iced coffee, maple bacon, hazelnut chocolate crunch) the maple bacon was the best. I was hesitant to order the maple bacon but my companion was insistent. I'm glad I listened (oh the joys of sharing!). The flavors worked nicely - sweet maple with smoky, thick cut bacon. Vietnamese iced coffee was underwhelming- not much flavor because the icing was quite thin. Hazelnut crunch was good! Solid dessert option after getting lunch in the food court!

I love coming here for a treat whenever I visit time out. They have a mid-sized selection of donuts and their unique flavors are pretty tasty (like their maple bacon) I don't know if it was because we got our donuts near the end of the day, but I always feel like the donuts are pretty stale. I don't think their quality is amazing but the flavor variety is great. Overall, it's a nice donut shop to stop by if you're close, but not something I would go out of my way to visit.

These are some of my favorite yeast donuts! We went at the end of the day so they were out of Boston cream :( We settled for the Cranberry spice crisp and the Maple bacon donuts. Both were nice and soft. Quite large- bigger than your average Krispy Kreme donut and a tad denser- in a good way. These both had nice textures with the addition of the crispy bacon and the crumble topping. I would definitely come back! I preferred the cranberry donut but both are worth a try!

Walking around in the Am hoping to get some coffee and stumble upon this place. A great find indeed! Donuts were great! Not to cake or doughy just the right amount of spongyness you need from a donut! Topping elevated each donut! I can't remember what I got but I wasn't disappointed! Stop by here if you're near Fenway park

Usually not a huge donut fan, but the Vietnamese Coffee Donut was just the right amount of sweetness! I ordered too many, but all the donuts were delicious. The donuts are more bread-like/denser than other donuts I've had.

Good donuts. Noone was even manning their booth when I came (which I only stopped by the food hall to pick up donuts) so I waited a good 15 minutes or so before someone finally showed up. The donuts were kind of stale. Flavor was okay. My immediate thought upon tasting them were that they were not worth the wait or the cost. They do come up with unique flavors often though, so perhaps some of their other flavors might be more worth it. But I just thought, overall, that they weren't amazing. Good though! And if you're in the area looking for a sweet bite, it'd be a solid option. Maybe not worth going out of your way for though.

I was surprised they were still open when my friend and I finished dinner around 9:30! I saw they had a special shark week themed donut so I had to get it. It was pretty good, it was a vanilla donut with blue-colored vanilla frosting. The $4 average price tag on these donuts are a bit steep, but I enjoy their creative flavors. I'm glad they have a little stand at the time out market for a quick dessert!

FOOD/DRINKS (3.5): - Tiramisu Doughnut (4) = The best one that I've gotten out of the 3 flavors. I like how the filling in there is not too sweet and the dusting of cocoa on top gave it the bitterness that lingers the same way in traditional tiramisu. - Vietnamese Coffee Doughnut (3) = I was most excited for this. I am an avid coffee fan and anything that has vietnamese coffee I'm bound to love. But I really couldn't taste the coffee. I think it's mostly because my taste buds might be desaturated from all the coffee I normal drink so I'm not as sensitive to it (hehe). My friend that doesn't drink coffee at all tried a bite and said she could taste a hint of it, but it was mild. Most likely won't get this again. - Brown Butter Hazelnut (3.5) = not as sweet as I'd expected. I had thought there would also be more of a salty-sweet combo (due to the brown butter) but didn't quite get that either. Overall it was a good doughnut but I think the flavor could be a bit stronger. I did love how much hazelnuts were sprinkled on top, but would like it more if the glaze had more hazelnut flavor coming through too. OVERVIEW: - I think I will definitely come back here. As doughnuts go, I love how this place isn't so sickeningly sweet, which shows me they put in more effort in making sure they give other flavors a chance to shine. Perhaps the ones I ordered just happened to miss the mark in punching me with the flavor that I was expecting but the doughnuts themselves are pretty good quality. I did hear the other locations have the doughnuts coming out more fresh than this location in Time Out.

These donuts are so fluffy. They are a bit pricy. The favors and texture just blend perfectly together.

Located inside TimeOut, the service is fast and there are lots of seating everywhere since it is an upscale food court. This donut place has tons of interesting flavors that you don't see usually. The donuts are nice, soft, and filled but there are slight inconsistencies. I went with a few friends a couple of times and sometimes the filling inside donuts are different than what was listed on the description. I bit into the boston crème expecting everything but a coffee/espresso flavored crème.

I went with two scoops, black raspberry and brownie chocolate, and the brownie was killer. Rich, chocolatey, and totally worth standing outside in 30 degree weather to eat it. I devoured it without hesitation. There were so many great flavor options, and my friends all found something they loved too. It felt like one of those classic, must-stop dessert spots. I said, "Yes please, I'd like M&Ms." The server, and another person working behind the counter, both told me that they just ran out of M&Ms. They didn't have any more. This was weird to me. As I was walking to the the shop, I passed a person who had a small cup of ice cream with both m&m's and oreo topping. Okay, I thought. That's weird but so be it. Then, I scootch over to look at the rest of the toppings and what do I see? M&Ms. I point out the M&M's to the employee and ask, "hey, aren't those M&M's?" They mumbled something back that I didn't exactly catch. They either said "those are closed" or "those are skittles" or "it's not those". "those are closed" makes no sense because they asked if I wanted toppings and it was 2 and a half hours before they closed. "those are skittles" makes no sense because they don't carry skittles as a topping... The whole experience was perplexing to me. Anyways, JP Licks is pretty overrated and too expensive. $6.5+ for the smallest size is not worth it. They have some decent flavors (cookies n' cake batter) though and the ice cream is usually pretty well executed and not icy. still, not really a place i'd recommend and won't be going back for a while after this freak incident. Attached photos are the proof that they had M&Ms. Note the "M" on the candy and the blue colored candies (they don't make blue skittles)

We walked into a building with the kind of architectural character that chain bookstores cannot manufacture, with small rooms opening into each other across multiple floors, wallpapered walls, and reading nooks distributed throughout that invite you to slow down rather than move through quickly. The book selection is well curated with staff recommendation cards on the shelves that actually reflect genuine enthusiasm rather than perfunctory notes. We saw limited edition hardcovers and local and regional titles appearing alongside the broader fiction and nonfiction selection. Browsing felt productive rather than overwhelming because the curation kept things focused. The kids section upstairs is one of the more delightful in Boston, with a train running along a track near the ceiling that tends to make a strong impression on younger visitors. There is also an art print vending machine on the second floor that draws its own audience of visitors looking for something small and specific to take home. The cafe occupies the lower level and operates as a separate experience from the bookshop above. We ordered the oat milk cappuccino with Vermont maple syrup, which was worth it. The morning glory scone and the popovers are two other items to consider. The cafe is tiny, around eight tables inside with a small patio, and reservations are recommended for breakfast and afternoon tea service. Pricing at the cafe is on the higher end, and certain fixed price service formats on specific dates push it considerably further, so checking current pricing before booking is worth doing. For a bookshop that doubles as a destination in its own right, Beacon Hill Books and Cafe delivers a cozy, curated experience that rewards lingering.
