Came here with a group of friends for the first time and I have to say it was excellent. I normally do pho in the winter but was told about this place by a friend. I had their signature ramen dish and it was excellent. I also loved the communal seating around the dinner table. Great experience.
We had just the worst brunch experience and I was still hungry! When we walked by first, they were closed due to power outage. But we checked before leaving that cool but whack place and came here! Friendly greeting and we sat at the communal table. They were out of some things and we just ordered the Original Tori. I also had some hot green tea. It wasn't long before the hot bowls of warmth and comfort came out. Really good broth! That is the key. If the broth is bad, everything else doesn't work. Nicely prepared pork belly and firm noodles. This washed away all the earlier negativity. The young woman who served us was great! Friendly and upbeat! If I had one complaint, it was the hard boiled egg. Should be soft boiled. Other than that, this place is solid! Definitely worth checking out!
I've been here a few times. The Dirty Mazeman is my favorite off the menu. On my most recent visit, I noticed the Tonkotsu on the menu and gave it a shot. The tonkotsu here was ok. I've had it elsewhere and the flavors were more bold.
I absolutely love Union!!! Best ramen in the city. Great staff and beautiful restaurant.
Okay this spot is a solid spot for sure! I've been coming here for years! The service is always great! Shout out to Bruce! Drinks and food are always a hit! Only complaint is pricing but it's on magazine so can't really fault them! Their HH is solid too! Love the laid back vibe here! The music is always good here!
Arnette was great. Fast service, great customer service . The lychee martini was good! I had the miso ramen bowl, and it's a 10/10! The mushrooms made the dish. My first time having this, and I am satisfied! Great service, great playlist, ! Will be back
Little one wanted ramen, so we decided to come here since we've never been. Nice location with a good amount of seating. Wanted to keep things simple, so I started with the original tori ramen to get a good grasp of the flavor. Myself having mostly traditional tonkotsu broth which is pork based, I wanted to see the difference that chicken gave for ramen. For me, it didn't give me that umami flavor and was more on the salty side. The added homemade chili crisps gave it a nice touch though. The Chicken teriyaki skewers were pretty basic for me. The chicken itself was pretty bland and was drizzled with teriyaki sauce on top. Probably wouldn't get it again. Overall our ramen experience was pretty good which the server came throughout our visit. Would definitely come back again.
Still my favorite Hapoy Hour and best salad in Nola- Lychitini ($8), HH trumpet mushroom kale salad ($11) & the pickle plate ($5) two meals worth but you'll eat it all anyway 3:00-6:00 weekdays
This review is based on take out order. I called a little after 11am when they open, ordered 4 ramen, got in my car and drove over. By the time I got there (maybe 10 minutes), the order was ready for me at the counter. Very friendly greeting when I walked in. We ordered 2 Original Tori Ramen (one with extra pork belly and add fried tofu) and 2 Miso Ramen. The pork belly is amazing! Great flavor and seared slightly crispy like thick cut bacon but better. Nice flavor to the broth - not too oily and lots of body. My friends liked the Miso ramen but were a little confused by the egg being served whole still on the shell. They thought it'd be peeled and cut in half like the egg in the Tori ramen. Either way, would definitely come back. Great experience.
I heard great things about Union before going, and they did not disappoint. I've been three times now and they have blow it out of the water on all occasions. My favorite dishes so far are the crawfish and shrimp lumpia and the watermelon and pork belly. The shishito peppers are super yummy too! I never had Musubi before. I wasn't in love but it was good. The Ramen was excellent. And huge portions. I don't think I could eat much other than that if I was by myself. Do not sleep on the spot. And do not skip the small plates.
We went to Union Ramen for the food and the Anime movie night. It was a great date. The waitress was fast and very helpful. They have a nice happy hour menu from 3-6, $2 off the Super Saiyan Ramen, and complimentary Togarashi popcorn. We left entertained and full.
I ordered the Tori Ramen for delivery through Uber Eats, and it arrived perfectly packaged and piping hot, with the broth thoughtfully kept separate. I only wish I had the chance to dine in because this ramen was fantastic. The noodles were cooked al dente, giving them the perfect bite, while the broth was rich and deeply flavorful. The roasted pork was tender, soft, and melted in my mouth--truly worth trying. Tori Ramen - $25.35 Add-ons: Corn ($0.75), Roast Pork ($3.00)
The Confit Mushroom Salad at Union Ramen is an excellent dish that is a strong addition to the more typical menu at a ramen house. Though it's called a starter, it is easily an entree and was a very welcome vegetarian option in world of meat-heavy broths. The combo of the addicting mushrooms with kale is unusual for this cuisine and I decided it was a must-try during our New Orleans trip. It didn't disappoint. My only nit is that the ratio of kale to the other ingredients was too high. Either there should have been less kale or more of the mushrooms, dressing and soy nuts. Bites with all the ingredients were phenomenal but I had to work through a fair amount of under seasoned kale to get to them. Otherwise, no notes. The restaurant is bright and spacious with friendly service, solid for a duo but also a great choice for a bigger group. Even if you're a devout carnivore, give the kale and mushrooms a shot (an extra side of the latter wouldn't be a bad idea).

We haven't been to Union Ramen in a while and saw that they were doing a Coolinary menu so we decided to pop in for lunch. I got the beggar's purse dumplings for my appetizer and the mixture of pimento cheese, blueberries, cilantro oil and green onion aioli was interesting and delicious. I got the level 3 Tori ramen and it was perfect! The ube cheesecake was one of the best cheesecakes I've ever had! It was very rich so I had to take the rest home. It was just as good as I remembered. read more
Stopped by on a whim during coolinary to see what was up! It's a cool little restaurant, and our waiter was nice! We got some ramen, the watermelon salad and dumpling purses, and ube cheesecake for dessert. The food was really good, and the coolinary special made the price really reasonable for the two of us! My only complaint is that we didn't get checked on much while we were there, and we had to approach the counter to pay for our meal. This may have been a way of letting us be and enjoy, so I won't hold it against them. I'd definitely try them again! read more

If you can appreciate a savory broth, extra season, tender meats, and a good noodle to slurp. This is your hot spot okay, and I mean that cause I burnt my mouth trying to get it in. The feel in this place is calming and bright, the service was nothing less than expected. They were attentive and if you were into the culture and backgrounds of it they were ready to share. First off I don't like breast because it's more along the tough part of the body I can't appreciate. But my waiter convinced me it was a bop. So I tried and was not disappointed, I thought I was eating a well cooked thigh that thing was so tender. I can't even phantom how that happened but it did. When it comes to noodles that can be a tricky thing because either they're right or a second away from either hard or mushy. And this place has the technique down pat. This is an all year round place to kick back and relax, get some work done, or get chatty with the girls over their amazing drink selection that comes with an interesting mixologist. She was definitely creating purple history, might I add that was the star of the show. read more

One of the better ramen spots in New Orleans! The staff is friendly and very welcoming. The inside is set up nice with usually an anime show on the tv. Music selection is great, a welcoming surprise in a good way. The menu has a little bit of everything for everyone. The one thing I'm not a big fan of is the chicken, the few times I've had it, it has been a bit tough but not a huge complaint. Will continue to go back every time! read more

The food is so good. This isn't my go to spot for ramen, but this place has fresh and amazing food. I had a lychee martini at the bar at Union, I literally felt like I died and went to heaven. They definitely have the best pork buns in the city. The spot is small, but it's super clean. The staff is chill and friendly. The vibes are immaculate. They have music quietly playing in the background; and it's actual hits. Check it out if you're ever Uptown. They have my heart. read more

We were seated quickly and give ice cold water. And the AC was on which was great considering it was 90 degrees out! We ordered the Beggar's Purse dumplings and Original Tori Ramen the dumplings were surprisingly delicious with the blueberries not giving a sweet taste but more of a tart taste that complemented the cream cheese inside the dumplings. The Original Tori Ramen was also a very well made chicken broth ramen with home made noodles that were perfectly bouncy like ramen should be: the pork was also tender and well marinated. The egg in the ramen could have been more salted but overall it was a delicious bowl of ramen! read more

The broth was bold, rich, and perfectly spicy. The toppings were super generous -- every element added something, and the whole bowl was just perfect. It came out in a timely manner, and the service was great, friendly, attentive, and efficient. One of the best ramen bowls I've ever had. I'll be back for sure. read more

This is the first ramen place I've tried in NOLA and it did not disappoint! My friend and I shared the sweet pepper wings...and they were SO CRISPY! I also had their original tori ramen and added level 2 spice. The broth was so flavorful and rich! I also love how they provide a huge spoon with your bowl so you can have the perfect bite of noodles + broth + protein. read more

What!?!! This ramen is legitsisimo!!! I love when a restaurant takes pride in high quality ingredients and lets them all clearly demonstrate their role both visibly and in their flavors. But first I gotta give props to the service - professional, cool, attentive. Next, the ambiance is very enjoyable. It is a beautiful, large room with well-designed globe (but not globe) lighting. A mix of long communal table, bar top and set aside two tops give the experience of a hybrid classic and very modern ramen establishment. The music is the right volume and well selected to feel like an urban Japanese gem. But most importantly - the ramen is to die for. Authenticity is the best way to describe the dishes here. I ordered the Original Tori poultry-based broth signature ramen with... roasted pork, bamboo shoots, scallions, poached egg, fried garlic. Oh my. The ramen was so fresh and the broth so complexly simple I had to come back the next day. This time I ordered the dirty mazemen ramen... brothless, ground beef and Tasso, scallions, poached egg, nori flakes (waitress suggested add fried garlic, so I did - and delish). The cocktails are also worthy of praise. I tried the award winning (Top cocktail - Food Fight NOLA 2024) Dragonball Paloma. Beautiful white to pink fade with dragon fruit dust... crisp, a bit of spice. Perfect. What a ramen! read more

I really had such high hopes for this place, but I was really disappointed. The woman who took my order was so nice, sweet and patient. She made helpful recommendations and answered all my questions. Food didn't take long to come out either. Maybe 10 minutes and I ordered 4 items. Service was definitely 10/10. I ordered the confit mushroom salad and the miso ramen (I'm vegan). I feel like the items were overpriced. You don't receive the amount of food for what you pay. The salad is only kale, mushrooms, sliced radishes and peanuts. I didn't like the dressing on the salad and wasn't a fan of the peanuts. They did give you a good amount of mushrooms. The miso ramen came with a lot of mushrooms, so it was more filling than I thought it would be. I added tofu, but it wasn't needed. It was really filling without it. It was just missing some seasoning; like some salt and some creole seasoning. It was just lacking in flavor and was bland. My total was $102 for 4 items. They also charged us a 10% takeout fee, so that plus taxes was $20 all by itself. Just feel wrong to penalize your customers for takeout. It's already in a busy area with little parking that you have to pay for. They also charge you for different spice levels, which is literally just chili in a togo sauce container. If you have that at home, you can add that yourself with some siracha and get the same result. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place. At least not for the items I purchased. read more

I had a great time at Union Ramen, a casual and fun ramen shop in New Orleans. The food was delicious, especially the Tonkotsu ramen with the ramen egg. The service was attentive and fast, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The energy of this place was young and vibrant, with colorful decor and a lively atmosphere. I also enjoyed watching Naruto, a popular anime TV show, on the big screen. It added a light-hearted Asian vibe to the place. Although, we arrived in the middle of a lunch rush, we never felt as though we were being rushed or hurried. The wall decor lent itself to the blend of the current hip-hop icons of the city of New Orleans and the deep history of the Japanese culture. There were abstract paintings of the artists around the room as well. We sat down and request the recommendations for my meal. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen! All I can say is WOW! The broth was so fresh and rich. The noodles were tender and freshly made. If you're looking for a nice place to sit down and have some soup, Ramen, or maybe even just a good time, then this is the place for you I would definitely recommend Union Ramen to anyone looking for a tasty and enjoyable meal read more

Hands down one of the best ramen spots I've ever been to. The buns were soft, fluffy, and packed with that perfect sweet-savory flavor. The Tori ramen broth was rich and balanced, with tender noodles and just the right amount of mushrooms And the kimchi Easily the best I've had a perfect mix of tang, spice, and sweetness. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

When I say OMG, I mean it in a good way! Union Ramen was on my collection list for this trip, to New Orleans and I have absolutely no regrets. The seating has a long row of picnic tables settings, chairs along the bar and seating to the left of entry. The lighting is perfect, and the graphics are very cute. I ordered the dumplings as a starter and the original Tori (a menu favorite). The dumplings were nothing I've ever had before; I wish I took a video of my facial expression. The Tori bowl was full of rich flavors, it was hot with all the extras, I couldn't finish it. I also had the desert, Matcha Cream Brulee and I didn't think I would enjoy it, but my cousin and I definitely enjoyed it all. I wish I made this my first stop when I arrived in New Orleans. Definitely a 10/10. read more

Delicious authentic ramen in a beautiful space with great service. Left here full and happy and will have to try the other broths on the menu. Started off with the wings and lumpia then went with the tonkotsu. If you have space, spend some time on their small plates. They have some great options and I'm going to try them all. As for the ramen, great flavors and they really come close to the tastes of Japan. Wanted a bit more spice but will definitely come back for the experience. read more

My first time at Union Ramen was good. Ordered the Beggar's purse dumplings and it was definitely my first time having dumplings like these. The filling is not your typical dumpling mix but was very delicious. The ramen was very flavorful and delicious too but not my top fav ramen spot in Nola. I find that the prices for appetizers is a bit high. Good vibes inside and our server was very friendly. Worth a try! read more
I checked out during happy hour. They have happy hour 4:30 to 6 pm everyday. I ordered a cocktail and kale salad off their happy hour menu. The salad is hearty and delicious - love the umami from the mushrooms and the balance of the ingredients. It's a generous portion - you don't even need protein. It was summer, so I've ordered their brothless ramens. The ramen noodles verge on pasta. The dish comes together - perfectly balanced with quality ingredients and enough liquid to bind everything together. The food and drinks were delicious from start to finish. Would definitely check out again. read more
Delicious ramen! I ordered the Tori but had it with blackened chicken and added chili spice (level 2) and black garlic oil. Yummy! Great, casual, friendly environment with wooden tables. There is an inside bar with happy hour specials included on weekends. The matcha brûlée was also delicious! Would come here again! read more
