Get this, they opened the hood to my vehicle for a final inspection & I immediately saw that several screws were missing. I told them to find & replace them. 6 months later, I installed a new horn system. I had to open up areas that were repaired by them & to my surprise, several more screws & special snap pieces were missing. These people are criminal !!!! To think Statefarm gives them 5 stars. I got my entire door fixed at Unibody in Oct 2017, I purchased my car in March 2017. Someone sideswiped my car. They fixed entire door/paint job and all. I remember going back a few weeks later because the passengers door wouldn't lock. They fixed it...fine. They charged my insurance $3,600 for the claim. Fast forward 2020, parts of my door are literally falling apart. I didn't hit anything and nothing hit me. I send pics to three body shops in Michigan, where I now live. All three repair shops told me that the car has faulty work and the car is rusting from inside out from bad bondo. I live 5 hours away from Chicago now so taking it back to this shop is not an option. Still I called the shop in hopes they would do the right thing. Well it took me calling 3 days in a row for the owner to call me back. He then suggested I bring it in, knowing I don't like in Chicago anymore. He said I must of hit something and it's not his shops fault but if I bring it it, he can tell for sure. Ok let me drive 5 hours each way to have you tell me it's not a faulty job, even if it is. I am going to be calling progressive insurance since they paid the claim, if that doesn't work I'll be filing a lawsuit. If I'm going back to Chicago, it won't be to have them refix my car they screwed up. It's ridiculous they choose to do the wrong thing. If you know anything about cars, don't go here. View the pics, they speak for themselves. I had no clue it was faulty work but three mechanics say it was. DO NOT GO HERE. Update: Right after I posted this the owner Phil calls me and tells me he's going to take me to court for slander and hangs up on me like a 2 yr old. I just went in for a estimate on my car and they tried to charge me $1,800 for two small dents. I literally just got quoted $750 for the same two dents from the body shop on north and Cicero behind the walmart. The guy was very rude about it as well. Told me I should go to the guy then. Dont let the 5 stars fool you. I believe the business has family and friends make fake reviews so there rating go up. Their nothing but a scam. I read all the reviews so I thought this would be a great place to take my car. They informed me the cost to repair the scratches on my car which was a bit expensive. The advisor then suggested buffing out the scratches and using a touch up paint. I thought this would be a good temporary solution. When I picked up my car it looked HORRIBLE. I understand it was just a touch up paint (so it wasn't going to be perfect) but the color of the touch up paint they used didn't even match my car!! The touch up paint was slapped on with no care or detail. It looked bad and when I let the advisor know that I wasn't satisfied with the service and wanted a refund ..he refused. Have you ever just wished the men in your life could just take care of all those stupid manly things, like car trouble? be it body damage or a stupid broken window, the guys here can be that "guy". They just did the best job with my car, after some assholes just tried to break into it. It happened on New Year's Eve Day, so all the businesses were closing and Unibody stayed open a little later just to call around to find me a window so I wouldn't be car-less for the evening. No luck however, the owner gave us a ride home, and they also stored the car in their garage all weekend until they could work on it on Monday. They finished all the work within a week and even threw in some paint buffing on the house. Not everyone is lucky enough to have their dad know everything about cars, but that's how I felt here, like my dad was working on my car and that everything was going to be okay. read more

Instead of the machine, they happened to still be there and hung around another 15 minutes until I got there...AND DID THE QUICK REPAIR TO MY CAR. I worked at an auto body shop for 3 years in high school where I performed limited body work, prepped cars for paint, and sanded/buffed after paint so I have general knowledge of auto body repair and a good eye for detail. When my 5 month old car suffered damage from hitting a pole, I looked for auto body shops that would do the job right without cutting corners (i.e. using extra body filler to cover flaws, drilling metal instead of welding and pulling, taping over removable accessories and trim, lack of paint blend). Mark walked me through the estimate and what would be performed and there were no cutting of corners and he adhered to OEM standards. The car came back detailed and the work was flawless (I have a good eye for errors especially on a black car). The work wasn't the cheapest but you get what you pay for. The staff was super friendly and communicated progress throughout the process and stuck to the price and time estimate. As a point of comparison - In the past, I've used a well known low-cost franchised auto body shop (not Unibody) for a lease return and was returned with a car that had overspray, mismatched paint, and sand marks on body panels and lights, but they were nice enough to clean out all of the change and CDs from my glove box. Not a good experience. If quality, attention to detail, and care for your car is important then visit these guys. I hope I never need to bring my car to a body shop again but will be back here if so. read more

I've always been a SUPER cynic dealing with any aspect of car repair or sales. You are at their mercy if you don't speak the language. Why do I always feel like they look at me and see dollar signs?? Or any girl for that matter. It all seems like such a racket because if you were to try to buy parts and assemble a car it would cost 50 times as much as buying the same car off the lot. But this is neither here nor there. If you live in the city and park on the street chances are you are going to need a body shop and I HIGHLY recommend these guys. I have had my car fixed here a couple of times (both times hit while parked) and have always felt they not only did a great job but were honest, reputable, explain everything in a friendly non condescending manner, go above and beyond. For example, I am going out of town and have some front end damage that prohibits me from opening the hood. They took it in and worked on it for a while got it to open and charged me $0 so that I could feel safe on the road!! Granted, they know there's a good chance I will be back to get the repairs done. I would recommend Unibody Auto to anyone who needs body repair. Phil is amazing. My brother was in an accident and we needed the car towed from an expensive lot to a mechanic. Because of work schedules, and the fact that the tow place wouldn't take checks or credit cards, Phil paid for it so we wouldn't accrue more fees. He was so helpful and friendly. You really can't find a better place with better people. I had my car brought in after it was stolen, to be looked over for any possible damage. Due to a serious snafu on the part of a State Farm claims rep, Unibody was authorized to start work, when I was told I could look the car over before they began. I got there, and they had taken a few panels off, sanded the front quarterpanel, etc. I have an older car, there were a few scraps here and there, but nothing that would make me want to repair the damage. I was at a loss. They had obviously done work, a few hours from the looks of it, but it wasn't stuff I wanted or needed done. I called the claim rep, chewed them out proper, and the manager of Unibody, Gordon, offered to simply put the pieces back together, and have it ready for me the next day. They also painted the quarter panel they had already sanded. I am no expert, but I'm sure they had a solid 3-4 hours of work, not to mention supplies into the car, none of which they charged me for, due to the mistake on the part of not them, but State Farm. Simply amazing customer service, friendly people, an honest and competent manager. Try finding all that in one auto shop! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. If your car gets bruised, this is where to take it. And the quickest path to forgetting is finding a car shop that can get the job quickly and painlessly. That's what these guys do. No matter how stupid or traumatic (or both) your wreck may have been, Unibody allows you to get in, get out, and move on. When you haven't seen your car for a week, it's not uncommon to suspect things are missing or out of place, especially if you're typically the only one who drives the car and it's for your daily commute; after all, it's been a week since you last saw the car. My bumper needed repair and they managed to get me a quote while at work, let me take my car until my new bumper was painted and ready, and installed the bumper a few days later while I was at work. I've had my share of body work done on cars, and the quality of their work was great. My only complaint was the time it took. The service, the honesty, and most of all the quality cannot be matched. I went to Unibody after my car door was damaged by a towing company. Unibody was the third estimate I received to fix my bent car door and they were by far the most honest and helpful. From the moment I walked in, Mark was kind and helpful and came out quickly to take a look at the damage. Prior to coming to Unibody, I had one estimate for $650 and another for $1600. Mark took a look at it and showed my exactly why my car door wasn't sealing shut properly and said they could fix it easily, if I brought my car in the next day. I brought my car in the next day after work and Mark and his guys had it fixed in 5 minutes and even buffed out a large scuff spot they saw on my passenger side door. When I asked them what the cost was, they refused to accept payment! They even told me to bring it back in if I noticed my door needed any readjusting after driving it around for a few days. They turned what was a pretty frustrating and unfortunate situation, into making my day. Thank you so much for your help and honesty. I have used Unibody for 20 years. Loved working today and Gordy. Office manager always helpful. I called last Wednesday to get an estimate. They gave me the hours and I went in. When I got there, the man behind the desk, yelled at his worker saying his system was down. He then came out and said no estimates as his system was down. Ok, I can come back. Then he came out and told me personally, call him next week to get in the calendar for an estimate. Excuse me, I called him that morning why wasn't I told then. This was strictly an insurance job, easy money. Ok, I went to a competitor at lunch yesterday and they took care of me within 10 minutes. Maybe Unibody changed ownership as their location changed. I just stopped in to ask if they could order parts for me to repair things on my own, and I walked out with a free mini-inspection, light bulb replaced for free, recommendations on how to repair things myself, and an offer to look at some additional things for free. He said he'd be happy to do any repairs needed, large or small, because I'm a neighbor. They really go above and beyond to make a not-so-great situation with your car into a pleasant experience and a great outcome. I woke up one morning to find my car had been side swiped on the entire left side taking out my rearview mirror with major damage to my side doors, I couldn't even get in the drivers seat. Not a good morning when your already running late to work. I took a cab to work and began researching who I can go to in my area. I decided to call Unibody. I spoke with Gordy who offered to have the car towed in. I called Statefarm who told me Unibody was one of their preferred shops which eased my mind even more. It took about a week for the repairs but the staff called me throughout the week to keep me updated. They helped me get a rental which was dropped off at the shop while I waited. When I picked up my car I was surprised at how good it looked. I remembered why I feel in love with it in the first place making me totally forget about the accident.
