I did not have high expectations for Chicago's boba scene but Uni Uni was my first taste through delivery. The tea was pretty solid and left a good impression. Cute theme with the unicorn. Yulu Oolong Milk Tea w/ Boba - I love roasted milk teas because the process creates a deeper, richer flavor. There were strong undertones of caramel-like toasted coffee and the roasted milk tea was nearly perfect. While the boba was overcooked to a softer chew, it was still pleasing to chew. However, it totally lacked flavor and could use a better marination process. Uni Signature Milk Tea w/ White Peach Oolong Jelly - after having the yulu oolong, this one wasn't as flavorful. However, I believe it's a black tea base but very typical to other classic milk teas. Nothing special. The white peach jelly is fairly unique, but mild in taste with a tiny, sweet aftertaste. I'd recommend other drinks since they have a great selection!
I tried the Lychee Peach Fruit Tea and it was so good! Definitely on the sweeter side so keep that in mind. Service was fast but there was no where to sit down on the inside except for on the window ledge. The self service kiosks also weren't available but that did not bother me!
I love Uni Uni - their drinks are truly refreshing. My favourite is their lychee peach jasmine green tea with lychee and mango jelly. Their branding is too cute, and I love the convenience of self ordering. You can also pick how much sugar you want in your drink, which is perfect. The orders are prepared in no time. I only wish for more Uni Unis to come up around the city.
It's a cool little place in the Chinatown that has interesting boba cups. I got the Uni Signature Milk Tea and it was good. The brown sugar tapioca was not so good though, I think they were a little overcooked since it wasn't as chewy as it should've been and was a little bit mushy. Only reason why it isn't a 3 stars is because the staff on the phone the next day since I forgot to put my email for a receipt was very friendly and was able to send me my receipt.
Was visiting Chicago and wanted to grab some boba. The drinks were a bit overpriced but the boba and quality of drinks were good. Although I got 50% sweet I would say their drinks are on the sweet side. I really liked their strawberry orange green tea with crystal boba since it had a hint of tartness from the strawberry. The mango watermelon green tea was a bit sweet for my liking and I usually don't get brown boba with fresh milk but I tried it and it's definitely a well made classic. Overall, I loved how the drinks had real fruit in them and didn't taste artificially fruity. If you're visiting Chicago's Chinatown def stop by!
Sweet staff and extensive menu~ Happy I was able to try Uni-Uni since I had seen several of their shops throughout Chicago (guessing they're a local chain) It was really convenient too since Uni-Uni was right across from where I had dinner (MingHin) haha I ordered their Assam Milk Tea and they exceeded my expectations! Richer taste than a standard neighborhood shop but not quite like T% in Sacramento, but similar. Boba was on the chewier size (I visited right before closing) I like that they also offer 16oz... heheh for portion control Would love to come back and try their other drinks and snacks too!
What a convenient and yummy place to order boba and small bites. I wish there was a place to sit indoors and enjoy the drink but space I limited. I ordered the Uni milk Tea and it was great, not super sweet but I added Oreo cheese whipping cream and it was a game changer. The drink came out super fast and the staff was friendly. I noticed they had some onigiri, I would love to try them!
This is a cute little tea place, they had a lot on their menu so we decided to go and check them out. I ended up getting the strawberry orange jasmine green tea without the crystal boba. It tasted decent, and you could definitely taste the orange coming through. My fiance got the strawberry lemon jasmine green tea. His didn't really taste like much. The teas didn't seem to be mixed properly and the flavor was lacking on the strawberry lemon. That one tasted more like a severely watered down tea. I'd go again to try something different, but I don't think I'd try another fruit tea. You can order your drinks on a kiosk, so for us service was just simply picking the drinks up.
After having great experiences at two prior Uni Uni locations, I wanted to grab one last drink before heading out of Chicago. We were looking at the different locations and found this one that stocks a very cute bucket size drink. We couldn't resist and made a trip down to Chinatown. Milk Tea Bucket (1000cc), Yulu Oolong Tea, 50% Sugar, Regular Ice ($10.95) - This drink comes with your choice of three toppings, of which we went with 3x the boba! Just kidding, we only did 2x and also had the Jasmine Green Tea Jelly. Starting with the good - the drink itself is fantastic. Half sweet is perfect and allows the fragrance and aroma of the tea to intermingle with the cream without drowning anything out. The brown sugar tastes comes through on the tongue easily and doesn't cover up the roasted/toasty taste of the Oolong. Consistent with other locations, the regular ice level is just enough to cool the drink down to slightly above freezing temperatures before completely melting, all within a couple of minutes of receiving the drink. The Jasmine Jelly is nice, with a typical agar chew that adds additional texture to the drink. It floats to the top, making it an exercise to try to get pieces to suck up with the straw. Now onto the bad - the boba here is not good. The pearls are very inconsistent, with some that are nice and chewy, albeit a bit on the softer side, and others so overcooked/old that the teeth glides through them like butter. I feel like they definitely mixed different batches of boba together, which is a big faux pas in bubble tea. One other thing to mention - while the bucket itself is cute, with a snap on lid and a little handle to carry it around, there are several major issues. Firstly, it doesn't fit in a cupholder, so be prepared to hold the drink the entire time you are driving. Secondly, the lid leaks around the sides, especially around the pull tab on one side. Multiple times while driving, I had milk tea spilling all over my clothes and the car. Finally, the hole for the straw is right in the center of the lid and the bucket handle doesn't have enough clearance to go over the straw. If you have a straw inserted, you can't really tote the bucket around as a result. They really need to revisit the bucket and make some major design improvements. Milk Tea Rating: (5/5) Boba Rating: (1/5) The milk tea at this Uni Uni location is solid, but the boba is terrible. I recommend getting drinks here only with other toppings. Or just visit one of the other Uni Uni locations that has their act together. Note: There is a service fee for using the kiosk. Bathrooms - None
Good drinks, but service and ambiance fell short for me. As of April 2023, they're still pretty covid cautious. So they dont have any tables or chairs inside, and you will have to use the kiosks to order. When we had a few questions about the drinks, the workers weren't very welcoming or easy to talk to. Also, some of them did not speak English, so there were a few communication barriers. I feel like this is the standard of service for many places in the area, though... We got the lychee latte and the peach lychee jasmine green tea with the sweeteness adjusted down in both. I really liked the peach lychee jasmine green tea. It was very refreshing. Overall, I would come again if i was looking to get drinks to go.
Uni Uni is a great spot in Chinatown (and all across Chicago) to grab bubble tea and various sweet treats - now including authentic Filipino cookies called Sylvanas! I tried the ube flavor which I liked, but it was super soft (almost too soft for my taste) The real star of the show here is the fruit teas in my opinion - the Lychee Peach Jasmine Green Tea with lychee and mango jellies - I am obsessed with those star jellies The interior was a little small and not very clean, but the drinks made it worth it. Super quick service! We ordered at kiosks that made it really easy to check out. Follow @corrine_eats on IG for more food reviews & content!
The drinks here are very unique, very pretty. I loved the boba texture and the drinks were still really yummy. I didn't interact with the staff, since we used the kiosk to order our drinks. The inside has its own aesthetic, so it makes for great picture ops for the drinks.
Uni Uni bubble tea in Chinatown is a good place for milk tea enthusiasts. Conveniently, they offer delivery through Uber Eats, making it easy to enjoy their drinks from the comfort of your own home. My go-to is the Ancient brown sugar milk tea in a large size, with just 30% sweetness and light ice. They have a wide variety of toppings. My recent favorite is brown sugar tapioca lately. Absolutely recommend giving this place a try.
Ordered some drinks for delivery and was very pleased with how everything was packaged for a spill proof delivery. Both drinks we ordered looked and tasted great. It was nice that the amount of ice and sugar could be customized. We had the Soy Milk Foam Black Tea Latte with Soy Milk Pudding. I added brown sugar tapioca. We also ordered the Uni Signature Milk Tea plus tapioca and cheese foam. Very happy with both drinks. Drink prices are competitive with other boba places. Can't wait to stop in when we are nearby. read more

I absolutely loveddd this place. I went here during their grand opening (yes I am writing this review extremely late) while dropping in on Chinatown for some orange chicken. Of course I saw unicorns and nearly jumped outta my seat in excitement. The line was short. I was greeted at least three times before evening reaching the counter. (I am not complaining lol. I love it) When I reached the counter, I was given a coupon offer for a free topping. I didn't know what I wanted so the sweet young lady at the counter quickly offered some suggestions. I chose a fruit drink instead of going with bubble tea. With my Receipt I was given a bubble tea cup holder. Reusable too! The cutest little thing and it came with a straw holder. The drink came fast and was quite delicious. All this while following in line with covid restrictions and laws. I felt safe and comfortable. While sitting to drink with my friends, we had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his mother. It was her idea to make the cloth cup holders. This is their second business opening and they were proud of it. If I ever go that route I will always stop by for a quick drink. read more
July 2021 - COVID Review: So maybe my husband and I didn't order the right drinks.... but what we got wasn't what we were expecting. This boba shop is located right next to another one and there was another one at the end of the strip. We probably should've known when the other two had longer lines. I ordered the mango jasmine green tea with cheese foam and my husband ordered the mango smoothie with cloud cream. Back home (in the DC area), whenever we order cheese foam, there's lots of it and you can actually taste it in the drinks. Our drinks weren't bad for mango drinks but we definitely didn't taste any of the cheese foam or cloud cream. read more
I've tried Strawberry Orange Jasmine Green Tea w/ Crystal Boba and Assam Milk Tea. I liked the fruit tea. I could taste strawberry and orange flavors and the tea. Crystal boba texture was on point. I also liked the Assam milk tea. The traditional flavor was there. The tea strength may have been a tad less than my preference in both drinks but I asked for default sugar level. Drinks were pricey but similar to the competition in chinatown. read more

Cashier seemed confused and mumbled questions and order back to me. Ordered an ice drink and it came with 3 ice cubes. It was a basically a warm drink. Probably wouldn't recommend to anyone else. Won't be back. Disappointed TikTok said it was good. I got an ancient brown sugar ICED drink with 50 percent sugar. Didn't know what sugar percentage to get I told him to put down what he recommends. Drank the drink cause I spent nearly 7-10 dollars on the drink. read more

This is officially my new favorite boba spot. I was taken aback when I saw the size of my $7.45 drink but once I took a sip, I didn't mind the price at all. It was soo flavorful and I added the caramel foam which was a great touch. The service was quick and friendly and the place was really cute. I'd definitely recommend stopping by here read more
Solid spot, felt like their Assam milk tea was legit. The boba could be better but it's ok, still somewhat chewy throughout. Price comes to about $6 for a medium with boba which is a little on the pricey end but I still believe this is worth checking out, especially if you're going to order milk tea and prefer to have it taste more tea like. I'm not the best photographer but their cups they come in are photo worthy. Area is conveniently located in Chinatown and easily a go to spot after a good meal. read more

Came here for the first time last weekend! I ordered the Mango Yogurt with Crystal Boba. I thought it was pretty yummy! The yogurt and the mango went well together, and I really liked the crystal boba. It's not as chewy as regular boba. The mango purée in the middle seemed to be real mango, which is amazing!! The drink ended up being a bit over $6 with tax, so definitely a bit pricey for a drink but relatively similar to other boba shops in the area. They had a QR code outside to scan so you could order outside instead of waiting inside, but you can also order inside too! I appreciated the options, so people can decide how to order based on their comfort level. Overall, the drinks were cute and the interior was cute, and I would go back again! read more
Had their dragon fruit yogurt the other day, and it was creamy while tart and had the subtle taste of dragon fruit! It was very enjoyable, but I do wish it was visually prettier when first guven with the vibrant pink fruit. Love the variety of drinks they offer read more
My friend and I stopped by to try the drinks here because the logo and signage was cute. The have kiosks to order from so you don't have to go to the counter. They offer a percentage off if you use their Yelp check in feature but ofc you can't do that on the kiosk. So I made my friend stop the order and we went to the counter. Ofc the worker there was clueless and asked someone else in the back for help. Once we ordered we sat on the bench and waited for the drinks to come out. There is no seating in here besides two benches to wait on. It's to go only. Our drinks came out fast. The strawberry yogurt was recommended and tasted pretty fresh to me. Our other drink was bland. Not the best tea/boba we've had or experience. Service was meh, the floor here was dirty, there was a discarded ring light just on the floor in the corner next to the order kiosks, and the drinks were just okay. read more

With so many bubble tea places, it's hard to stand out as the place to go. This was our first time to Uni Uni, and what caught my attention was a poster on their window advertising their winter special drinks. Specifically I got the Black Sesame milk tea, which I thought had tapioca pearls in it (that's what is in the advertised poster). We went to the front register but apparently one has to order from the kiosks located in the corner opposite the register. One of the associates pointed that out to us... it was not clearly marked or posted as it was somewhat of a mad house in the waiting area. So I am chalking up my missed expectations as ordering wrong. I am wondering if I forgot to add the tapioca pearls. The milk tea was very heavy and creamy. The black sesame taste was good. I may give this place a second chance. I'll just need to study the menu a bit more closely next time! read more

My favorite boba spot in Chinatown! They offer a ton of cool drinks, with seasonal options as well. This time, I got the lychee jasmine green tea latte which is always a solid choice. It tastes strongly of lychee and I think has an unique flavor that is hard to describe. I would recommend getting it at 50% sweetness. The brown sugar milk tea is also a favorite. When I went yesterday, they were not taking in-person orders, but you can order on their website for pick-up and they have 3 kiosk machines where you can order in-store as well. I think this definitely sped up the process, because sometimes there can be a long wait to get your drink. read more
We wanted to come here because of the famous cotton candy machine, unfortunately it was down when we visited so I ended up getting rolled ice cream. You order through an iPad, I don't like ordering off an iPad when it comes to visiting a new spot. I tend to ask about recommendations. I ordered the oh Oreo ice cream, it was tasty and costs $6.95. There was no interaction with an employee, which is unfortunate. read more

Hi Grace,…
Love this boba place! Out of STL and the ones we've had in Chicago, this one has been the best. There are so many different and unique flavors and add-ins/toppings. Everything is so aesthetic - the indoor decor, the drinks themselves, the star-shaped jellies!! Definitely will be back to try more of their drinks! read more
With the boba shortage of 2021 upon us, now is the best time to try the new, superior version of iced Asian teas. Enter cheese foam: an inch-thick layer of what I would describe as a cheesecake smoothie that's spiked with salt. Apparently cheese foam on tea originated in Taiwan and has taken Asia by storm (supposedly it started as powdered cheese whipped into milk and topped with a sprinkle of salt). After surviving a pandemic, you'll thank me later for suggesting drinkable salty, cream cheese. You drink it just like you do your Starbucks Cold Brew with Cold Foam. The creamy, salty cheese foam hits your lips followed by the sweet, peachy green tea, and last by the little, chewy pieces of peach. The result is an insane flavor profile that balances each other so well. Creamy, salty, cheese, sweet, cool, and chewy in every single gulp. It's really hard to go back to regular boba tea now. A regular milk tea is just basic... read more
We got the Assam Tea + brown sugar tapioca + Lychee Peach Jasmine Green Tea with Lychee and Mango Jelly. In both drinks I got light ice but the ice made up 1/3 of each cup. For the Assam Tea, the boba wasn't extremely soft but soft enough that it's not too chewy. There also wasn't much boba in the drink unfortunately but the tea itself was decent. The fruit tea is very sweet, even at 50% - I would recommend maybe even get 30% sugar, which is quite low for me normally. However I still enjoyed the fruit tea! I will say it is a little overpriced but maybe that's because all prices have gone up for bubble tea in general. In case you are wondering, I believe they told me the following - Uni signature tea is black tea milk tea + boba Ancient brown sugar boba is assam tea + brown sugar syrup + boba read more

Everyone has their favorite boba spot, and this just isn't mine. Not meant to be a reflection on anyone who does really like, it just wasn't for me. I ended up ordering delivery from this location when the boba shop I was hoping to order from had to close early. Mostly what I was craving was popcorn chicken so I went with Uni Uni when I saw they also had popcorn chicken. I ordered an Ancient Brown Sugar Milk Tea with tapioca plus I added on crystal boba and a salt & pepper popcorn chicken. Both were just fine. Not anything special, but not bad either. For me, the chicken pieces were just too big. The seasoning and crisp is the best part, so the large pieces didn't work for me and took away from my overall enjoyment. All in all, I probably wouldn't order again if I had other options, but if not, this place does the trick. read more
[5.9.21] Short & Simple Review: Oh my goodness! I loved this place a lot. I wish this Boba Place was in Fl. Uni Uni, was quite cute inside. It was even kept clean. As always wear a mask before entering inside. Their mascot was a Unicorn. I thought that was so adorable. The even had a wall of cuteness (I posted it in my photos). The place was even fast and efficient. In other words, you go to a machine and order what you would like. I browsed through the list of boba drinks they had to offer. I went with the: Ancient Brown Sugar Milk Tea with Tapioca ($5.25). Once, I was done placing my order, I had to wait a bit. While waiting a bit, they had healthy looking planters on the left side of the place. Then one of the staff handed me my drink and told me to have a good day and I said, "right back at cha!" :) I loved the cup that they gave. It had a cute unicorn on it enjoying their boba drink hehe ;) Overall thought, it was a super yummy drink that I treated myself too :) I would recommend my boba tea lovers to check this place out. Personally, I would come back again! Check out the website for information: https://www.uniuni.us/ read more

I frequent Uni Uni Uptown. Ordered Mango Cloud drink because my daughter likes the cloud drinks, along with 3 other drinks. The cloud drinks in Uni Uni Uptown are pretty with white clouds on the cup with smoothie poured in, but this was not the case in the Chinatown location. It was just a typical mango smoothie (no white spots in the cup). The other 3 drinks were fine and tasted good. read more

Very solid boba place, and didn't have much line either which is a plus. I found it as good as Tsaocaa but without the long lines. Pearls are soft, chewy as they should be. Drink had fresh fruit in it. Overall nice experience And would return read more

I feel like this place doesn't get enough credit. The workers are always very kind and make sure to take their times while making your order and try their best to communicate when it will be ready. Unfortunately sometimes that does mean you will have to wait and their shop is not the largest. However it's always been worth it once I get my order and everything always looks so amazing. They do also have a small food menu. I've tried the popcorn chicken and it's so good! An amazing portion size as well. read more
Great tasting tea, I ordered crystal boba in my beverage rather than regular boba just to try the difference the crystal is no bueno - stick to regular boba. It was really hard to find the shop, there were no signs or indications my maps took me to the back. I think you're better off parking at the Walgreens across the street (to the left) and walking over. read more
Favorite boba in China town, now in Wicker Park! Got the taro bubble tea today and tried a Korean corn dog! Did not disappoint. Thought about going back to the gym, but it was worth it! I think it's like tempura breaded or something. Like a giant cheese stick! I inhaled it. Welcome to the neighborhood~ read more

After sampling all the Boba shops in Chicago chinatown, I'll say that they have the best fruit teas! Really refreshing drinks in a cute Cafe. Their popularity might lead to them running out of some toppings but I appreciate the caps that they have here. I had a Boba with milk foam and they have a special lid that made sipping out of the cup directly easier which made the experience! read more
It was soooo yummy!!! I'm lactose so they do have soy milk, oat milk and other milk they can make them with which I was happy about. They need to work on customer service as far as the person ringing up. But other then that it was nice inside read more

My family and I have tried almost the entire menu at Uni Uni and we think there's a drink at Uni Uni for everyone. The drink menu is large. Additional seasonal drinks are added. Hot and cold drinks are available. The sugar and ice levels can be adjusted to most drinks so there is always something that will suit your mood. The fresh fruit teas are refreshing and real fruit are added to the tea. My favorites are the fruit combo jasmine green tea and the grapefruit jasmine green tea. 0% sugar and add in crystal boba. The fresh fruit tea with cheese foam on top made the teas more smooth and had a cream cheese like flavor but we enjoyed the regular fruit teas more. The classic milk teas have a deep tea flavor and are on the milkier side. My favorite is the oolong milk tea at 50% sugar level with boba. The boba texture is perfect at Uni Uni. The flavored fresh milk, flavored yogurt with crystal boba, and flavored smoothies taste exactly like the description. These were great non caffeinated options for my kids. The flavored yakults are refreshing but very sweet. I don't think the sugar levels can be adjusted for these. Yakult lovers would love this drink. The uni special drinks and seasonal winter drinks have a lot of asian flavors such as taro, longan, ginger, ovaltine, sticky rice, jujube, red bean, etc. They are not shy about the toppings that go into these drinks so they are very filling. Most of the drinks from these categories are also on the sweet side. These drinks are more of an acquired taste. My favorite would be the crystal white grape with aloe. This drink is the lightest and most refreshing drink. Aside from the flavor of the drinks, service is also great. Drink orders are taken quickly at the counter and drinks are made immediately. An electronic kiosk with drink pictures is available in the store if you prefer to put your drink order in that way and pay with credit card. My favorite way to put an order in is to order through their website directly and pick up in store. The store is clean and well decorated with a cute instagram ready wall. read more
Love me some good bubble tea with cheese foam. The cheese foam here was a little on the sour side and I didn't get to taste it until the end when it was at the bottom. Good bubble tea, a little on the higher side price wise. read more
