I called Uni Nails ahead of time to see if I could get one of my nails fixed that had broke. The man told me I didn't need an appointment and to just walk in around 4:45 to get it fixed. I took an uber to get to the salon which cost me money just to have the same man tell me they didn't have time to fix my one nail anymore and to come back tomorrow. Toni - was helping do my nails, he did my fill and I asked for a gradient style- he only used two colors and did my nails 50/50 . Then he had another client come in and when I asked him to reshape them he said "no sorry I have another client" then gave me the receipt and did not fix it. I had to ask another associate to help fix it - she was really nice and helped fix it but had to re-do three of the nails he did and the color is still completely 50/50. I wasn't originally going to write a bad review, however, this has to be one of the most disrespectful experiences I have had in customer service. I few days ago, three of my friends and I decided to go get our nails done at this location. I am not going to speak for them because all of their nails looked great, but personally, I was unhappy with the results. Going into this appointment, my nails were in fine condition. Sure, my cuticles were a bit dry, but overall I barely had any hang nails or cuts along my nails. I didn't ask for anything fancy, just a regular gel manicure. Immediately after she finished the manicure, there was an abundance of dead skin around my nails (which my friend encouraged me to go ask her to fix before leaving the salon) as well as cuts all around my cuticles. The shaping wasn't exactly great either, but my nails were short going into this appointment so I didn't want to judge too harshly. Even though I was unhappy with the results, I left a tip and left without saying anything about it. For the next couple days, I could not get my cuticles to stop bleeding. I went shopping with the same girls the next day, and the act of simply putting my shoes back on after trying on the clothes made them start gushing blood. I still wasn't going to do anything about it but my mom told me I should go try to get a refund since it was a complete waste of my money. So I went back with one of the girls I went with initially, as her nail chipped and she wanted to get fixed. I walked in and explained to the receptionist what happened and requested a refund. She looked at my nails and you could tell by her facial expression that she also thought they looked bad. She told me to go to the waiting room while she got her manager. A couple minutes later the manager came and looked at my nails. For the five minutes we spoke, she tried gaslighting me into saying that it was my fault that my nails looked bad since I have "bad cuticles." Granted-I have been to multiple nail salons where my nails were in 10x worse shape as they are now (again, they weren't even bad) and the nail tech did a great job cleaning them up as much as possible. She requested to see photos of them right after I got them done, which I luckily had on my phone with time stamps, and she still said that it was my fault. She then requested to see before photos of my nails-why on earth would I have before photos of my nails. After being extremely patient with her, I exclaimed that I wasn't looking for any trouble and that all I wanted was recompensation; not a big deal. She then asked if I wanted a full refund including my tip (which was 6 dollars by the way). Since she offered, I said yes. She finally gave in and went over to fix my friends nail. Turns out that while she worked on my friends nail, she was sh*t talking me the entire time to my friend. My friend said that she was saying things like "your friend is extremely unkind" and "your friend doesn't care about the lively hood of my nail tech." She also was trying to get my friend on her side by explaining to her why it was my fault my nails were in bad condition after the manicure, implying that I inflicted damage on my own nails. Obviously I found out about this after the fact. When my friend and I were checking out at the reception desk, I kid you not she said that I was mean/unkind at least 3 times. She told me that customer service is a hard business and that I wouldn't understand, undermining my intelligence because I look young (I am a freshman in college who has been working in retail since my sophomore year of high school, so I would never go out of my way to upset anyone working in customer service, as I understand it is a difficult job). Long story short, I left feeling guilty, as she had made me feel small and ungrateful-far from the case. And as much as I hate to say it, at the end of the day, the customer is always right. While I am sure many have good experiences, Uni Nails will not be getting my service ever again. read more

I called to push my appointment back 30 minutes because I was running home late from work, and she sounded very annoyed. I get it was 5:30, but they had time left before closing at 7. I showed up a little bit before my appointment and got a pedicure. It was a great job. My fill was rushed and the whole time the employee seemed she was just mad she was still working while people left. She filed my nails unevenly and it has been two days and the paint has already chipped on two fingers. I left at 6:20 so it wasn't evening closing time when I was done, but I felt very unwanted. Not the best, I got dip with tips which should last but they didn't last more than 2 weeks. I spent at least 80 or more because more just on a manicure. Because at least three of my nails broke went back multiple times just to fix one set. Waste of money. They were just poorly done. The topcoat came off and I had white nails so it caused the actual nail to get dirty and look gross. I only went to this nail salon because it's closer to campus but next time I will try Julies nails or any other nail salon in Tempe. I wish I still had the pictures, but the shape of the nail was not what I asked for and the looks of all the nails were not consistent so it didn't look very nice. I liked that this was close to campus, but that's about the only thing I liked. First time I went I had an appointment but was ignored over walk ins. My acrylics did not have a uniform shape and I had to file and fix that myself at home. I gave them another shot today and that was a bad mistake. I got a gel manicure and asked for a simple cross design on my ring finger, which she said she could do easily (I even showed her a picture). The first problem was that she did not do enough coats and my nail tips where the change color were visible through the polish. The second problem was that the crosses looked like they were drawn by kindergarteners with sharpie on my nails. The third issue was that I was charged $45 and sent on my way without any chance to say that they were good or anything. It was not even busy but the staff rushes you every time. Overall, I would not recommend coming here. $45 and an hour down the drain for me to have to find another salon to fix these for me. read more

I came in for an appointment & was told the wait time was 15 minutes. After 15 minutes I was seated for my pedicure and I waited 38 minutes before someone actually came to help me. The massage was great, I don't want to leave that part out. When cutting the cuticle around my toe the gentleman cut me so badly that around my big toe was throbbing in pain and he applied alcohol. The gel on my toes that he injured look horrible. When I pointed out the gel to the tech he said "i can fix it but it's going to hurt you". I've never left a review ever in my life but i went to this place today to get my acrylic nails taken off today. I went in thinking they would put aluminum and rubbing alcohol like most nail places do but she started tearing them off of my actual nails. My nails feel extremely damaged and sore. I asked her repeatedly to change the way she was doing her job but she continued. I do not recommend coming here at all. They seemed to lack common knowledge in general. read more

First of all, I guess I should've looked at the yelp reviews before I even came in here. I can't vouch for everyone else was here, but my technician was horrible. Her name is Vy. I had a manicure before I left Los Angeles, but my nail polish started chipping. All I wanted was a polish change. I got more red nail polish on my skin, then on my nails when I asked you to correct and clean it up she said oh you should've gotten a manicure. Ridiculous! I've been coming here for the last 9 months...and unfortunately I feel that the quality has declined. I've been leaving with very sticky feet/legs and I'm not sure what it is. The last time I went for a pedicure, I left with more dry/rough parts on my feet than I came in with. I feel that I'm not getting the appropriate tending when I come in for a service. The place is always filled with people (probably due to the vicinity of ASU), and they seemed happy. DO NOT COME TO THIS NAIL SALON!!! I recently moved to Tempe very close to this salon and it looked very nice and trendy so I decided to try it out. I made an appointment and ended up waiting 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment to be serviced. As my nail tech was shaping my nails she cut my skin twice on two different fingers. I let it go because I understand things happen but then when my nails were finished they were extremely uneven and had gel paint on the underneath part of the acrylic. I then got a basic gel pedicure. The paint was done well but I was very unsatisfied when my calluses were not completed to any persons liking let alone my own... dirt left on the bottoms of my feet! I can do it myself but I don't pay $35 for me to have to fix it myself because of plain laziness. I hate to say it but I will be insecure to even go out in public with this disappointing service received by uni nails. I have been coming here for over a year now but this will be my last visit. I came in with my toes painted and no problems wanting a simple pedicure and my eyebrows done. I left with a bloody toe and in pain. I was getting a pedicure when she cut me. She explained it was a small cut. This small cut would end up bleeding for a long time and require me to change bandaids, twice before I even got to leave (my friend got a pedicure). After talking in her native tongue to severally other works she explained to me that it was MY FAULT that she cut me and then she decided to apologize. She then was laughing around with another technician while still trying to get my toe to stop bleeding. Not paying much attention to me as an individual. Eventually, she put a bandaid on (with help from the boss of the location) and was going to move onto the next toe. At this point I said I did not want a pedicure anymore. She began to talk to all the workers again and laugh. (My friends nail tech watched the entire thing and possibly told her what to do but never stepped in when she couldn't figure it out) I then sit for a few minutes with no word from anyone while my friend finishes up. Meanwhile, my tech has already moved on, cleaned up and began working on someone else. Then the boss (she normally does my eyebrows) asked if i wanted my eyebrows done. I said no. (I prefer to walk out with at least two eyebrows on my head). She said she would give me a gift card for another pedicure as the other nail technician giggled. Last week I made an appt but I had to cancel because of a work situation. I called to reschedule and the man at the desk was very rude to me. Every time I come even though I make an appt; they make me wait 30-45 min and I've never said anything. So this time he said you can come but you'll have to wait when I tried to make an appt. I used to frequent this nail salon as a college student 4-8 years ago and the techs were amazing! Finally came back today and this place is nothing like it used to be. Upon arrival, I was told the wait would be 30-45 minutes. It was 90 minutes. I was called over to a station as the previous guest was getting up and it was clear to me nothing had been sanitized- during a pandemic no less. There were literally tips and fingernail clippings from the previous client. I mentioned that to my tech and she laughed and put another washcloth over them.. gross. Later, she mixed the dip powder with the utensil she just used to clean under my fingernails.. so now whatever was under my nails is in that SNS powder for the next client. I should've left but I was in shock. My nails ended up looking terrible. The lengths are completely uneven and the shapes are inconsistent. Long wait times, unsanitary conditions, and a bad final result. If you hope to have a different experience, at least avoid table 5. read more

I read the bad reviews and ignored and tried anyways...This is worst nail place on planet earth. Super unsanitary, nothing is cleaned and instruments reused. They ground off my gel nails with a drill and didn't soak them off. The put my entire hand in a bowl of cuticle remover until the pads of my hand were peeling off. The painting may have as well been preformed blind folded, the outcome would have been better. My nails are now breaking off to the quick and bleeding because I have no nail density left from the grinder they used to destroy my nail bed. This place should be shut down. read more

I really like this place for my pedicures, they always do a good job and they are pretty inexpensive. I've gotten my nails done here a few times but I'm extremely picky and didn't quite like the thickness of my gel polish or SNS but like I said I'm super picky. There is one thing that really bothers me though, that I see consistently and that's the nail artists not changing their gloves when changing clients on pedicures. I've seen it happen about 3 or 4 times and to my sister once who actually ended getting a little foot rash. I've also seen a nail artist go from doing a pedicure with gloves on to switching to helping a manicure with those same gloves. Also, the tools they use do not come out of a package and do not come out of the sterilization bath. So, I'd just like that to change and then I would be more than willing to give this place 5 stars! read more
