Stopped by and picked up an original Japanese cheesecake when I saw they finally opened! They weren't baking any fresh ones at the time but that is probably because they were closing in less than an hour. The cheesecake can be eaten fresh (out of the oven) or after it's been refrigerated. I think you can refrigerate for up to 8 days? The refrigerated cheesecake feels denser and tastes more like cheesecake whereas one fresh out of the oven is lighter and has an eggier taste, almost like eating egg whites. As of today there is no limit as to the number you can purchase in one order; when they opened up in Arcadia the restriction was max 2 cheesecakes per person. The lady working there is super nice and asked us to help spread the word that they're open. I think they just opened today? There was no line so if you want your Uncle Tetsu fix better come quick before the lines start to queue up. read more

So while shopping at Fashion Island, I never knew that there was an Uncle Tetsu's there and glad I found it! They had Oreo Cheesecake as their seasonal cheesecake and I had to try it. First of all, design of the cheesecake was very appealing to the eye. The taste was obviously delicious as all the other cheesecakes from Uncle Tetsu's and the Oreo flavor was fairly subtle and didn't overpower the cheesecake at all which I liked. The flavor was a mix of light cream cheese flavor and light lemony flavor. The texture was soft compared to the harder textured American cheesecake. But the texture is slighter harder than Uncle Tetsu's strawberry cheesecake. Yes, the top is burnt, so you get that burnt flavor. The burnt top's texture is like a sticky texture you get from American cheesecakes. It wasn't bad. I liked the cheesecake, but the problem is that I didn't love it. I wanted to love it, but something was amiss. I tried the cheesecake again - heating it a bit in the toaster oven. The slight heated temperature created a softer, souffle-like texture. It also shakes too! I like it better when it is slightly warmed up. So the whole slice is warm all around. The burnt top had a bit of a crispy texture, which made it seem like this was baked right out of the oven. It's the typical Asian strawberry flavor for baked goods or drinks. I know there were reviews saying the strawberry flavor was light, but it was a strong strawberry flavor from beginning to end. I thought I would like the strawberry flavor (since I'm a fan of Seoul Korean strawberry milk), but the cheesecake's strawberry flavor was a tad bit fake to me. It had too much of it. It was a stronger flavor than I thought. The texture was too moist, but it's not a chiffon cake texture, but more of a soft mushy texture. Yes, this is a Japanese souffle cheesecake, but the texture was more mushy than soft. Souffle cheesecakes should be billowy and soft, not mushy and soft. I would pass on it next time. Personally, would not recommend this flavor at all. These 7 inch cheesecakes are not to be laughed at. It's not small! Size-wise it seems that way, but it's not. Because they are still cheesecakes, they are still considered a heavy dessert. It's not the type of dessert that is consumed quickly in my Asian household. So after one slice each person, they had enough. So I still have half a cheesecake left in the fridge! So I think this can be consumed amongst 5-7 people. Went straight inside the mall and it's on the second floor, so I took the escalator on the left from the entrance to the mall. I kept walking straight until I saw Uncle Tetsu. It's not too far from the escalator. However you do walk past many stores. This review is only for their drink. I got the sea salt green tea. It came out to $4.38 including tax. It's actually really good!!! Their foam is pretty spot on - Creamy and good consistency. They scoop the perfect amount. You can adjust the sweetness. I got 75% but I think even full sweetness would've been ok. There is no boba or any add ons though. Also, I wish their cups has the plastic sealable coverings instead of the pop-on lids. I like to shake my drink and mix the foam and you can't do that with this type of lid. Service very friendly. This Japanese cheesecake has a light and fluffy texture, yet the inside is moist and not too overly sweet/heavy like most American cheesecakes. One portion is suitable for 1-2 people max (or maybe just for one person because it's too good to share ;p) The service has been consistently quick, so I usually don't use their online ordering system. But I think it's probably a good idea since some of their items are not always readily available. 7/28/2021 This is a cheesecake paradise!!!! Can I just say beside the Taiwanese cheesecake that I had a couple years back; this Japanese cheesecakes are game changer. My sis and I ended up buying all the flavors they have, and for $11 and some change it's worth the wait and drive. It was so moist, fluffy and to die for!!! There was only one person working and she did an amazing job at everything. She explained everything very well and how to store them bc I have to bring them babies all the way to Atlanta. For the cheesecakes, you'll be more likely to get the original and chocolate since the strawberry seems to be the most popular (usually sold out). The original has a flavor that reminds me of cream cheese and spongecake. The texture of the cake feels dense at first but it easily melts in your mouth. I love matcha but the matcha flavored cake was not my favorite. It wasn't sweet like the original cake. It tasted like a light fluffy bread, not a cake. No sweetness at all in the one that was given to me. Might have been a fluke order. One thing I did was eat it with ice cream! It helped so much! I would suggest sticking to the original, which was delicious, or trying one of the other flavors. It didn't jiggle like I've seen in various social media posts, but it didn't really bother me much to be honest. I loved the über light fluffy texture and the slight sweetness of this dessert. When I came by, there were cakes on the counter, boxed and ready to be sold. You can also see the ovens in the back baking new batches. There's also drinks (milk tea, green tea,) and cookies available for purchase. I purchased one original cheesecake and one strawberry flavored cake. Both were fresh and warm, which I was happy about. Portions are on the smaller side, 3-4 people could probably share but I think I could finish it by myself. I found it very tasty, almost decadent since it was super soft. It's not crumbly at all, leaving little mess behind. Similar to a castella, but much better! Personally, I would be much more content with a slice of New York cheesecake. We had Uncle Tetsu a couple of times, and the first time we had it, we thought it was amazing. It was just perfectly light and fluffy. Second time, I thought it wasn't as fluffy but more mushy, which kind of turned me off of it. I still liked it, but just not as good. I think it's a fine line between light and moist/ mushy like it's underbaked. We usually stick to their original flavor, and I love that it is relatively inexpensive (about $10). I also give them credit for having a custom bag that fits their square box perfectly. Little things like that really impress me about a brand. I'd purchase the cake again for sure. Theirs is very light and fluffy, and not too sweet or dense! I love it!! Although if you're a cheesecake purist, you might be a tad bit disappointed.
