The shop is small, and located in the buzzing Katy China Town. Its mostly meant for grab and go, but the entire process was so quick and efficient. Once you walk into the shop, they have a map where Uncle Tetsu flexes on all the locations he has worldwide, and his global dominance when it comes to Japanese dessert deliciousness. I came here on a Sunday and fortunately there wasn't much of a crowd. The staff was friendly, and they even had some free samples for us to try. The sample was of the Ube Cheesecake. That one morsel of a bite defined our destiny. I knew that beautiful purple cake was going home with me. Uncle Tetsu offers various Cheese Tarts, Cheesecakes, and Burnt Baques to chose from. I ordered and original flavored Cheese Tart to snack on for the drive back home. They have a seasonal Cheesecake option to chose from (during the time of this review, the seasonal option was Black sesame). Each Cheesecake costs 15 bucks, its a pretty descent size, and is a perfection of soufflé goodness. Cheesecake options included: Original, Oreo, Ube, Strawberry, and Pandan Coconut. We left with the Pandan Coconut and Ube Flavors. The presentation was beautiful, with awesome packaging featuring your Japanese uncle smiling in confidence that he offers the best Japanese treat in all of the city. They already had these two cakes ready, so there was no wait or anything like that, once we ordered, the girl working the front grabbed them from a fridge below her, put them in a box, and we were on our merry way. I was so excited when they opened one in Katy Asia Town! Right when you walk in, you'll be greeted by a sweet aroma and friendly staff. I ordered the Pandan Coconut cheesecake, and it was delicious! The cheesecake was pillowy soft with a not too sweet or overpowering pandan flavor. I also tried the pumpkin spice biscotti, it was meh, I don't think I would get this again. I will definitely come back to try the other flavors like the Ube or Strawberry cheesecake though. I went to Uncle Tetsu after exploring Katytown this weekend in hopes of finding something subtlely sweet. My brother suggested it after seeing it on the way and noted that it had a now open banner. We decided to give it a shot, and let's just say my craving was satisfied. At the time of this review, they only had (1) ube, (2) chocolate, (3) strawberry, and (4) original cheesecake flavors. We ordered the ube cheesecake as pictured, and it is very light and subtle. The cheesecake is very soft and fluffy. I also got to try the samples and will be going back to get more flavors. Note that there is no seating arrangements inside so it is a purely to go establishment, which is perfectly fine. It also seems like they make all of their cheesecakes that morning or so because it was immediately ready after checkout. I've been so excited to try these cheesecakes. Katy asiatown isn't that close to me, so now that we were in the area we had to try it! We went on a Wednesday around 2pm, so we were the only ones in the store. They had samples of their original flavor on display too. They're also willing to give you other samples of different flavors if you want to try them too. I decided to go with one asian flavor and one american flavor, so I choose the pandan coconut and the oreo cheesecake. I brought the pandan coconut over to my family to try, since this dessert would definitely be asian parent approved. It has that not too sweet, so it's good kind of thing going on. For the cheesecake itself, I felt like this is what I would expect from an authentic Japanese cheesecake. It was light and airy and there was no eggy taste like other cheesecakes trying to emulate a Japanese cheesecake. Sometimes when a Japanese cheesecake is made it can end up close to a pound cake, but this was very soft and delicate. I loved the pandan coconut flavor and I was afraid the oreo one was going to be too sweet, but it wasn't at all. It was just sweet enough. The cheesecake was $14, which I think is a normal price you'd pay for a Japanese cheesecake like this. Plus they put it in a cute box and a nice quality bag for you too. After having the cheesecakes for 4 days, it still tasted good as new too. It didn't dry out or get hard. They also gave us a sample of their biscotti, which I have yet to try! read more
