Randomly ordered here for a quick game night pizza and apps. I didn't love that their menu doesn't exactly layout what goes into some of their appetizers. I had to assume there was meat and ask for there to be none. Luckily they took out their tenders and replaced it with other of the appetizer options. Anyways, the kids loved it and it was a great value too. The people who gave us the order were friendly and were the ones who let us know that they evened out our apps. The pizza here is good but we've ordered it twice and both time they messed it up pretty bad . One pizza was burnt and the other almost raw . You would think if you get a loaded pizza, they would start that one before a thin cheese pizza.. Had plenty of $5.00 coupons in paper from his boxes of the previous orders, but the owner refused to discount the order for my wife's pizza. We have spent 1000's of dollars on food from here & this is how we were paid back over being such a loyal customer for decades. The vibe of the place is cool. Cozy little bar and restaurant with a lot of tvs for sports. Now let me say this was our first time and we went for the food not the bar. We ordered the steak and cheese hoagie and the Philly cheese steak fries and a personal pepperoni pizza. The prices for food were ridiculously high and they like to advertise their cheese steak.... The "steak" is basically frozen steak-um meat and had a ton of grease. I should have know it wasn't going to be good when they asked to put lettuce and tomatoes on a "cheesesteak". The fries were 21$ for a large portion, it was just more fries and more steak um oil meat with this white mystery flavor liquid cheese. The personal pizza for kids was the best food and that was at best a little better than a frozen pizza. Maybe going for drinks and atmosphere and or maybe other menu items, but as far as anything labeled "steak" from here, do not get. Very disappointed with the food. I ordered a salad and asked the server to make sure that it had plenty of mix veggies and not just lettuce. It was all lettuce with one slice of tomatoe and two small pieces of green peppers. The lettuce was old and brown. They charge me $8.50 for it. I placed an order through a food delivery service for lunch today. I have a very busy job and very often not able to leave my desk... Today was one of those days. I placed an order for an individual white pizza, but received a phone call from the manager stating that their pizza oven went down and she offered to make me something else. Because I have a severe tomato allergy, we talked about different sandwiches she could make that would be safe for me to eat. We decided on a Philly cheesesteak sandwich and again we reiterated my tomato allergy. However, when I received my delivery, the sandwich was obviously cut with a "dirty" knife that had tomato sauce on the blade. Luckily, I was able to see the smear of sauce on the bread and the wrapper before I ate it. When I called the manager back, she was apologetic and offered a credit, but a lot of good that does me now. Also, if a restaurant is so careless with preparing orders with a food allergy, I don't think I will be going there again. A north Phoenix institution that has had there ups and downs for sure.... We ordered the white pie, while the cheese was not spread well on the pie, it was still pretty good. Also had the antipasto, it was full of yummy meats and cheeses; half is plenty for two! The place has a pizzeria style ambience that is the usual if ya know what I mean. Ooooh and the Chianti was DELICIOUS; best part of the meal hands down, wish I wasn't driving I'd of had another and would go back just for that :D Miranda works there and she is a rock star! It was disappointing picking up an order here and the level of disrespect i've received due to the amount of time i've waited, and after i asked twice how much longer on the order- obviously staff was busy and overwhelmed i waited another 15 minutes- totaling my time to 40 minutes. I understand this is locally owned, obviously showing their attitude of zero F's given. One of the kitchen staff members made the comment "man i don't know how you guys do it" pointing at me standing at the front counter simply just waiting to be helped. There was zero communication within my interaction here as i asked for my order and the girl makes zero eye contact, turning her back to me, I think trying to find my order? It was a good 12 min I was standing at the counter without being asked if I was helped because quiet frankly, I didn't even know if someone was helping me. The girl looked so lost and overwhelmed, I was lost with her. When i came back in to ask for one of the man's (with the glasses) name who i thought was the manager and might be willing to help me, instantly went off on me- completely loosing his composure saying how i knocked off a brochure on the counter while I was exiting- grabbing my HUGE order (4 bags and a few drinks- my hands were absolutely full) and wanted to accuse me of obstruction? So much drama, i would never recommend anyone here because staff is so young, obviously doesn't care about customer connection and I really wouldn't doubt the owner doesnt do anything - assuming their attitude to go to such a level of disrespect to make a customer feel as uncomfortable in that restaurant as i did- a complete hostile, high school like environment. Completely unprofessional and childish. I hope the owner finds new staff before he looses anymore business. It's a shame to see a Phoenix classic restaurant like this change into something so vulgar. It's been years since my Last visit.. This dine in was better than last from what I can recall as far as taste of food goes. Came and had dinner with my mom we shared the combo appetizer of fried zucchini & mushroom. Still just as delicious as I remember!! I also ordered the Individual order of Hot Wings which is a 6 piece bone-in. They were pricey ($10) but very tasty! The sauce flavor (Hot) was good & had a lingering hot/spicy taste after the initial bite. If you love spicy, I definitely recommend. I also got a quarter size of the chicken sandwich (mushroom-pepper-cheese-Chicken) on a white Italian roll. I think the bread was my favorite! You can add sweet or hot peppers to it. I got the sweet thinking they were the banana peppers (because I don't find those hot) but I got it backwards I guess.. either way still a nice option. Sandwich was good. A lil dry for my taste so I threw in some ranch on it. I needed a sauce!! Just my preference. Sandwich was good still without. My mom ordered a roast Beef Grinder and a lrg fry to share. This place is pretty good for the price. My friend and I have been coming for several years. We've both been pretty busy so it's been a couple years but not much has changed. The food is always good but the service is still lacking. I ignore the service cause it's not bad, it's just not great. The food makes up for it though. My friend and I always get a few things so we share so it's best of both worlds. I love that they have several portion sizes for most things. This time we got the zucchini and mushroom combo, italian grinder, chicken fingers and tried out the new Philly cheesesteak fries which were tasty. The meal was good overall. The up charge for a side of ranch is a bit outrageous. The server should mention it's a freaking dollar for a side of sauce haha but oh well. I used to go here every week between 05-09. When I moved out of state, I haven't been back since last week. As a positive, the food tastes the same as it did 13 years ago. That, in and of itself, is a tough feat to achieve in terms of consistency of quality. The wings were big, super sauced, and tasted like I remember. The pizza had the same sausage and pepperoni and the crust was soft, yet crunchy. Where this place lacks is in service and cleanliness. The floors need to be swept, our table was sticky before sitting down, and there is an overflow of beer all throughout the place. Combine this with the clutter all over the walls (the sports teams from the 1980s-1990s was cool as a child but now projects mental disorder) makes this place very busy, despite being actually such... there were 4 tables, three current and one leaving, in the hour we were there. The restrooms had water all over the counter and it smelled like pee. For the service, our waitress (I won't provide her name), seemed aloof. She got my order wrong, questioned the fact that we wanted wings with X sauce and basically convinced (read: forced) us to get them another way. She left to go on a delivery run... so when my pizza came out wrong, they told the other server (I won't say his name either), to let me keep it and they'll make another one... WHICH THEY GOT WRONG TOO. I told him what I ordered, he repeated it back to me wrong, I corrected him, and I assumed he'd get it right. At that point, after two failed attempts, I just gave up in bothering trying to get it a third time (I didn't want to make the kitchen mad and have them think I was the problem). I can see why this place is now basically empty after always being full to the point of a wait decades ago... It's funny. My dad thought "service was great, for this type of place" and the food sucked. I had the complete opposite experience. Food was everything I loved but the staff was abysmal. Will I come back? Maybe in another few years when I visit AZ. The rewards program is $5 for every $200 spent, not including tax, tip, or alcohol. That's a pitiful 2.5%. Most places are 5-10-20%. At least it's better than nothing. Oh, and the new wooden floors are nicer than the dingy dirty carpet they used to have. Edit: to the owners response. No I didn't get a manager because I've worked in food service for 12 years and I did not want to make an issue over a pizza. I tried to rectify it with the server. I guess I should have spoken to a manager, but after my mother did so many times when I used to go with her as a preteen and teenager, it always turned into an argument and I did not want to be a part of that. Prior bad experience, so I tried to just let it go. I appreciate your concern and my suggestion for "making it right" is to get employees that actually listen to your guests, don't make them repeat themselves 2-3x, and to have any "remakes" come out actually be correct. Im glad your food is still as good as always. I understand your "higher" prices. Not even adjusting for inflation, the cost of food versus labor, rent, utilities, etc, is roughly around that 30-50% mark so while some of my friends find your wings to be $$$, I think they're priced competitively, accurately, and fair. read more

We've had grinders and calzones here. Both were decent and no per say complaints, but nothing amazing and the last was still cold inside. Seems like staff are always cleaning and busy when we've shown up twice (which is good that they're cleaning), but we're always hunting down someone. I first started going to uncle sams in the 90s during high school. It's everything you hope it to be. I haven't been there in years. My buddy recently moved into the Tatum and Shea area so mountain bike rides at squaw peak trail 100 & uncle sams are back in the mix. Really the only good beer they have on tap is lagunitas. The rest is garbage coors/bud/miller from the 70s. The special grinder with grilled meat is amazing as always. My only complaint is this is probably the only place to get amazing wings in phoenix that doesn't have blue cheese dressing. I honestly don't know anyone who eats wings with ranch but my guess it's the same person that drinks coors/bud/miller. If your clientele thinks Budweiser and Taco Bell is good then I guess cater to them. read more

Wow wow wow! We never go wrong with Uncle Sam's. I have lived in Arizona more than 20 years, been going here the whole time, and I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant. Their menu is absolutely massive. Most items come in a variety of sizes so you can over indulge (or not) as much as you like! We always end up coming home with leftovers. The staff is fun and friendly and there are more than a dozen televisions showing all kinds of sports stations. It's a great place to hang out with friends and family. read more
