Been going there for a long time and their prices have always been high yet their food is ok. Recently you they raised their already high prices to even higher. Not the best pizza, subs are decent but daaaaaamn, highest prices for food. Their coupons are a joke too. First time visit yesterday. Was with a friend very familiar with this place. The menu was huge, so my friend recommended the Italian grinder. He said "trust me, only get the 1/2 size" This thing I ordered was enormous and absolutely delicious. From the meat to the toppings & bread, it was total perfection. As long as we were there, I ordered a 7" sausage & pepperoni to try out as an appetizer. Again, excellent! I was so impressed by the quality and friendliness or our server, I ordered a 1/2 Philly cheese steak to take home. What a great sandwich! I had it for lunch today . I popped it in the oven for a few minutes and it was exactly what a Philly cheesesteak sandwich should taste like & perfectly blended with green & red peppers. So.... I'll definitely be back, but with so many choices on the menu, I'll order 1/4 size sandwiches of a few. This place has been around since 1980. It's obvious they know what they're doing. *** Update**** Received a call from the manager after my review posted. He offered me a $10 credit to remedy the situation. Went back and ordered a pizza, wings and fried shrooms. Even got a text this time when my order was ready! Much better experience this time around. Pizza great as always, fried shrooms were great, even include the shrooms! :) very pleased with their response and customer service to fix a bad experience. Trying to support the local places during these trying times. Ordered online and got our pick up time. Unfortunately we waited an additional 25 mins once we got there for our order. They seemed busy so I could let that go, but it was a long to wait given we had a specific pick up time. The pizza was really good, crispy thin crust, cut in squares. Wings were good. Salad was tasty and fresh although it seems overpriced for the size. The biggest disappointment was the State of the Unplatter. It was supposed to a variety of fried goodness. What we got was a box of burnt batter. There was no cheese in the cheese sticks and I never saw a single piece of zucchini in the mess. Fries probably would have been good if they weren't burnt to a crisp. Quite a waste of $10! I would probably return for the pizza but wouldn't chance ordering anything else. read more

We've been coming here for 30 years, was sadly disappointed the last few visits but last night was just bad. Got takeout and had the worst cheesesteak. We've had the same order every time, mushroom pepper cheesesteak- they forgot the mushrooms and peppers and there was only cheese on one half. The steak was burned and tasted like grill and there was a hard piece in mine, I assumed was pepper but after spiting it out was part of the steak, looked like bone? We order from the 32nd St location almost every week. We typically get the Italian hoagie and the grilled chicken breast salad. The grilled chicken breast salad is definitely worth the money and the Italian hoagie is tough to beat anywhere in the valley. What I appreciate the most is when I call in they can remember my order and they are always so nice and friendly when I come in and know me by name which makes me feel really good. I would highly recommend Uncle Sam's to anyone who wants a quick to go at home type of sandwich or any other item on their menu. We hadn't been at this old favorite in many years and had been wanting to go back so gave it a try tonight. What a horrible mistake. Everything was inedible, except maybe the fries. Got the Italian Grinders and to break it down, like my photo, the meat that was supposed to be ham and salami was the worst quality, with a funny chemical taste and we removed it immediately. If you are COVID adverse do NOT go here. There is a sign before you enter saying mask wearing is up to you. That should've been our first clue. As Yelp says, staff do wear masks but they were wearing them around their neck not covering their nose or mouth. They do NOT social distance filling booths of people basically shoulder to shoulder not leaving any booths open even when they can because the place was not full. Service was very slow. Steak sandwiches were very good. The manager or owner was having a coughing fit with no mask while he was filling a glass at the soda machine. I found all this very disappointing because I was there one month ago and felt very safe at that time. This is NOT the case now and I will never return. Too bad. *** Update after owners comments: He states they are following CDC guidelines, well they are NOT. CDC guidelines say that ALL staff should wear masks. The only employees I actually saw wearing a mask were the bus boy and cook. Also CDC says to continue social distancing, this is not done at all. Even though all booths were not all occupied, there was no effort to separate customers in one booth from another. I did not witness any extra efforts to keep customers safe. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Where to even start. The service was very slow. We sat for 5 minutes waiting to order after she said she'd be right back. They refused to alter the calzone at all. When it came out, calzone was 95% ricotta cheese with hardly any topping at all and I couldn't even see any sauce. They charge you extra for ranch. The French fries were just frozen ore ida French fries you can get at Walmart. At least the kid liked her pizza. All smelled and sounded good until.... after I had picked up my order and made it all the way back to our hotel to realize they gave us someone else's food, a large order of fried zucchini and 24+ wings; we ordered a 10" pizza and 13 wings. I politely called back and before I could even state the problem the lady Debbie admitted they gave us the wrong order. I told her I would come back for the food but asked that they kindly remake the pizza so that it'd be fresh, the manager on duty, Paul agreed to remaking our order. We made it back in about 15 minutes to get our food. Upon checking the food to make sure it was right, the pizza toppings were burnt and at this point the whole experience was ruined. I told Paul the food and experience was not up to the standards I was expecting based on their reviews nor was it the food I ordered. Paul then stated we are not allowed to give refunds but we can issue you a credit. I told him I'm not from Phoenix, I'm from Denver and likely would never be back. He said refunds are at the sole discretion of the owner and when I asked to get in contact with the owner he said he's not in the facility and is unreachable at this time. Basically, all I can say is don't waste your time or money! Maybe some of you have had better experiences but this is not acceptable and now I'm out my $26 and still hungry. I have always had good experiences with this place. Before ordering this last time, I looked at the reviews and got cold feet. But I decided to go ahead with my large steak, mushroom, peppers, and cheese sandwich and side of fries. I was not disappointed. It is a HUGE sandwich, overflowing with meet, cheese, peppers, and mushrooms. I really enjoy how big the sandwich is. It can feed my family of 3 and still have some leftover for lunch, if I don't get too crazy and try to finish it off myself. It is hard to resist because it is so good! The side of fries was a box full to the brim. They were still hot and crispy when i got them home. I've also always had great experiences with the staff at this place. They are all always super friendly. I don't eat here very often because (let's be honest) it isn't the healthiest option. I saw this place listed as a candidate for the New Times "Best of" in the pizza category. So, I had to give it a try. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. A casual family friendly place with a small bar and several TV's, all with sports events. The menu is good Ol' American fare, mostly East coast influenced. We tried the staples of East coast favorites: pizza, wings, and an Italian Hoagie. The wings were perfectly crispy with a perfect amount of sauce. Their "Suicide" sauce was a great blend of crushed red pepper flakes and black peppercorns. The pizza was pretty damn good. A very dense pizza with lots, and lots, of cheese. We would have preferred a bit less cheese. But it was good. The Hoagie, the Italian Special, was impressive and exactly what I would get from an East coast sub. This place is really great. Affordable menu with great service. We'll be heading back to try more from their menu. read more

I ordered a Sams original toasted with some cheese fries. Wife ordered some wings and a small pizza. Son ordered a larger pizza and he was tickled to know they had pineapple! After a short wait out food arrived and we dug in. My new favorite grinder is the Sams special, I think that's what it was called. Lightly toasted and packed full of goodness. The fries were average, but good. The wife's wings did not disappoint either. Her small pizza was mediocre and seemed to be missing something. The sons 10" pizza did not disappoint as well. He quite enjoyed it actually. All in all, it was a good experience with good food and good service. The customer service here is atrocious. Uber eats completed delivery without one of the $16 sandwiches I ordered. Then Uber eats doesn't answer the phone when I repeatedly try to call. (They'll have their own separate negative review). So I instead try the restaurant to see if there is an alternative avenue to address my missing sandwich. When I was connected to the male manager, he rudely told me that my order was complete when it was given to the delivery driver. To my follow up question where I incredulously asked if he was implying the Uber Eats driver untied my bag and ate my sandwich, his smug response was "yes he ate it, or dropped it, or gave it to a homeless person, I don't know, but you'll have to call him." I was flabbergasted. I told him that's the exact kind of treatment that leads to negative reviews. He couldn't care less, and practically dared me to write the negative review. So ugh.... here I am. This place sucks. And now you see their response. Further reason not to order from these guys. It's highly doubtful that the driver opened up my delivery bag and removed my sandwich. What is instead more likely is that the sandwich was simply overlooked and not included in my order. My husband and I ordered an uncle Sam's special which I think could have used a little more pizza sauce. We also ordered the 13 piece wings in hot and ordered a side of suicide sauce (in my opinion not the best because it has a lot of chunks and residue from the sauce, the hot wings are perfectly fine on their own but the spicier the better for me).
