Odd experience. I've always wanted to try- and had a craving for a meatball sandwich. The lady at the counter was sweet and helpful, but then got yelled at by another woman in the back about needing to give longer wait times and then going back and forth about who was responsible for running out of ravioli... it was uncomfortable. When I got home, the meatballs were so tough, I ended up tossing the entire sandwich. The fries were good, but also had tough pieces of chicken. Not a great experience. read more

was in the area and this place was nearby. Omg the old italian pizza is so good! They have pizza by the slice (My favorite!!) and it's crispy with a thin-ish crust. And now i have a name for my favorite type of pizza! The pizza came out quick and the staff was so friendly :) it had a very nice atmosphere inside and it was pretty quiet when we went in at about 4:30pm. Would recommend! We had delivery one night . First time we tried this spot . They where very good on the phone and repeated everything we ordered just to make sure. Told us the order will take about 1 hour to get to us . It got to us in about 40 minutes . The Fries came hot and not soggy very good, could have been less salty , the salt was a bit over the top. The Chicken Cheese Steak was tasty , and a good portion , a little on the salty side again, could have been the type of American Cheese they use , not sure , but was cooked the right way , and the roll was good with it , held up but not tough . The Cheese Steak Boli was really good, tasty bread and meat, and very good sauce . Will try different types next time we order. The salad was made very well , where there was a good balance of flavors and items that came with it. Over all I would recommend this place for sure . I would like to give it 4.5 out of 5 - Just the excess of salt took some points off but it does not deserve a full point. Living in South Philly my entire life I must have been under a real rock or dedicated to my main spots for pizza. I've seen this spot for years and always wondered what they sold. It wasn't until recently at every kids party my family has attend Uncle Oogie's has been the menu! I became so fond of it I've become customer now! Hot, fresh, delish and the perfect thinness of crust I really enjoy this pizza! My favorite is the mushroom slice however, the everything one is good too. Kinda stuck on those at the moment. Nice for pick up or dine-in. I enjoy the prompt service and efficient staff. They have a serious demeanor is true but, not off putting. Becoming a regular one order at a time! I'd love to try more of the menu but, I'm on a diet and can't get past the pizza at the moment! read more

Absolutely incredible stop. Picked up a gluten free and a vegan hot Hawaiian pizza. Both were delicious. Service is excellent. Everyone there made me feel like a regular even though it was my first visit. Uncle Oogie's is everything that you're hoping for in your local pizza spot. One of my to go quick neighborhood delivery. I usually get delivery from them and they typically would deliver my food about 15-30 mins earlier than schedule. My go to food from them is the garlic knots, spaghetti and meatballs, and their chicken salad. From time to time I also like their Hawaiian and pizzazz pizza. I've also tried their cheesesteaks. I've haven't been disappointed by them yet. Taste have been pretty consistent and I think their price is fairly reasonable for their portions as well. I've been ordering from them for years so I doubt that I'd stop any time soon. read more

If you are looking for vegan pizza options, Uncle Oogie's tomato pie is a a good choice. They offer either a whole wheat or white flour crust. I am not a fan of plant based cheese or most plant based meat, but if you are, there is a large vegan menu of pizza/steak shop classics. I am an 8 year customer and order at least 2x a week at the South Philadelphia location. Today, I bought dinner for my neighbor. I have never looked at the receipt, but to my dismay, The over charged me for 3 things. It was 45.00 plus trip for a burger and 2 orders of the wings which were 7.19$ each- I got charged 9.00 for the Pizza burger( no bun which on the website and menu is $7.99. They sent me 2 20 oz sodas not ordered, I have the receipt for 3.00 each plus 1.50 for the blue cheese for her wings which comes with it like every restaurant in the world, However, I don't like blue cheese when asked. I called and the girl said well that's the price ummm NO oh and 3.00 for delivery and I gave a 6.00 tip(unknowingly) and was hung up on. I called back 10 times and the manager got on the phone after 15 mins on hold and said she wasn't the manager and hung up on me. Seriously??? I called their first location in Sea Isle, NJ and asked for the owner. The guy was very nice but the owner wasn't there. I am a paralegal since 1990, my brother is a criminal defense attorney licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey for 30 years and my father who sadly just passed away was a medical malpractice attorney for 65 years. I worked for both of them for 12 years and left because I relocated to Nevada but have been back in Pennsylvania for 8 years, my mother passed away in 2014 after 5 months of being diagnosed of cancer so I went back and forth until 2017. Don't go there- I had burnt black specs all over my bun less pizza burger and was over charged and screamed at. read more

Just called in a delivery to the Snyder Avenue location in South Philly. The girl who answered the phone was as pleasant as can be. She was upbeat and energetic. I feel it's necessary to mention this on a Yelp review as so many other pizza joints have subpar phone etiquette. This staff member made pizza-ordering a delightful experience. :) I should also add that we just started ordering from Uncle Oogies two weeks ago because the pizza places closer to us seemed to have lost a bit of quality. I've tried this place before and the pasta, etc was good. Got two pizzas tonight.. a regular cheese and saw one that was listed as a South Philly tradition. Before today I never considered ordering from Oogie's. I think I saw a menu once and it was all meat sandwiches and pizza. Well that is a total misconception. There's an extensive vegan menu. And they make whole wheat pizza dough! Why is that so rare?! It really tastes amazing. I ordered a 10" (because Uncle Oogie's was an unknown quantity) whole wheat, white pizza with vegan sausage. Not greasy at all, crust is excellent and the cheese and vegan sausage are magnificent. My partner got the vegan wings and, aside from looking like anything but chicken, they are pretty delicious. I don't think it's a bad thing that they don't look like chicken wings but others might object. Finally, even the caprese salad is a rare treat from a neighborhood pizza joint. Decent, fresh spinach, red onion and tomatoes. If you're vegetarian and not vegan, you will also enjoy the mozzarella. I am 90% vegan and removed 2/3 of the cheese but it really is good. We'll be creating interesting pizzas on the whole wheat crust for a long time. read more

Their buffalo hot "wings", buffalo chicken "cheesesteaks" and pizzas are To. Die. For!! Even my carnivore hubs can't get enough! Their seitan is made by local star Vegan Commissary and is fantastic! Chewy, but a bite-able consistency. Perfectly spicy hot, but not overpowering. Seriously delicious stuff! The buffalo goods are served with this chunky, creamy bleu cheese and/or ranch. It's incredibly difficult to believe this stuff is vegan! Can't speak about much else, but the kiddos flip for fan favorite "boli buns" which are essentially mini Stromboli bites about the size of garlic knots, served with marinara for dipping. They looked golden and crisp with cheese oozing out. Vegan or not, try the buffalo goods! Wow! It's so nice to have a mainstream place cater to our kind! Makes life easy for all for football Sundays! I may be the biggest fan of this business! My love started with vegetable 'boli buns (stromboli made into little buns). I went to a party once and they had ordered a party tray with an assortment of 'boli buns in it. Being a vegetarian I only tried the vegetable ones and that was all that I needed. Sometimes I can dislike a stromboli since the ends are crunchy but toward the middle the dough is too soft and soggy. The boli buns alleviate this issue because they are smaller and cooked perfectly. My husband always has a chicken cheesesteak and says that they are one of his favorites! Recently I noticed that they had a vegan menu and even a day where they were giving out free vegan pizzas for people to try. My friends had a vegan pizza and raved about it. I tried a vegan buffalo chicken cheesesteak and it was so amazing that I ordered it the next week. It has now become a ritual of my house to order from Uncle Oogies on Friday nights and at this point the girl that works at the front desk knows what to expect for our order. I had two plain slice of pizza. I was very disappointed with the cheese. It was way too greasy and runny. Literally, the pizza itself had more grease than a pizza with pepperoni. It was that bad. I gave it two stars only because it was hot and fresh. Luckily my employers paid for lunch. The tomato sauce or grave whatever you call it was just enough to let you know its there. I consider myself a true pizza snub. Pizza is my favorite food in earth, but I'm often disappointed in sub par pizza from so many pizza spots. I Ordered a number of pizzas from this place to drop off to a local business. Had never been here before, but it was close to where I was going. This pizza was absolutely fantastic! Thin crust but with body. The crust itself was delicious, and I'm saying that as someone who frequently makes their own. I bought plain, mushroom & onion, and a white spinach. All were outstanding. This is the one of my favorite pizza spots in Philly. Their old Italian (I hate being cliche) is the real deal. I mean seriously the closet thing to New York style grandmas pie I have had outside of New York. Their cheese steaks are great too ...for "pizzeria steaks" they hang with the best of them. Yup, this South Philly (originally shore, I believe?) pizza joint has both your omnis and your veggies covered with lots of great options. The vegan pizza menu is creative (buffalo "chicken" pizza with blue cheeze on the side!), and there are wings available, along with strombolis and other goodies. I'm quite curious to try their boli buns ... from what I can tell, it sounds like a stromboli but vastly better. For delivery, if you're East of Broad, order from this location, west of Broad, order from the West side location. This location also has plenty of seating, which is great for a pre/post Target-run refueling or before a movie down Columbus ave. Easy to park in the parking lot too! read more

Since it was the Eagles preseason game, we wanted pizza and wings. My bf wanted a chicken sandwich. When the ordered was delivered, the delivery guy made a smart comment to my dad who didn't even know we ordered food. The breaded chicken cutlets was either over fried or it was old and refried again. The wings barely has sauce and the steak Stromboli was dried.
