They had Bearded Dragons, Chinchillas and Guinea Pigs though! They also have cat and kitten adoptions on Saturday's and Sunday's from 1-4pm. They had some holiday sales going on so we picked up a new camping bed for our Pit bull which she is going to love. After three hours I returned , she told me she didn't get a chance to start on my dog yet and that she was the only groomer there because they over booked. No apologies and she looked annoyed I even asked her that. At that point I was beyond pissed off, I asked to speak to a manager. When the manager arrived, she went look at the system to see what's going on. Then at the point I said please give my dog back, we will go somewhere else. It's wild to be to make a dog sit there in a crate for over 3 hours because they are too incompetent to let the customers know in advance they over booked and if we want to stay or wait for another day. Then the manager told me I have to pay before they can give me my dog. I said that's fine I will pay for shampoo - not sure why they shampoo my dog and not giving him the haircut after. This is such a dump in such a high end location. I would give them a zero star if I could.

I made her appointment for 9:20 and I walk in and I was immediately concerned because it did not look like any other PetSmart groomers I've been to in the past. This place was cramped, the check in was in the same room as grooming and it was filthy. The staff were not friendly and just immediately put on their leash and took her back without letting her adjust or get to know who was even taking her. I have never been to a groomer that doesn't greet the dog and establish trust first. Then, she says it'll be 3-4 hours because they're busy so she will be in a kennel which just didn't sit well with me. At that point I already said we were never going back. At 1:30 I get a call (so it's been over 4 hours at this point). The groomer calls and says that our pup is half done. She didn't like the blow dryer (which I warned them about. She just becomes deadweight and tries to hide because she's scared). But because she didn't like the blow dryer, she said they put her back in the kennel and let her air dry in there. My poor baby!!!! Then she said she'll go on her lunch break and hopefully she'll be dryer then she can finish! She's finally done at 2:30. I pick her up and oh my god it is the most botched hair cut I have ever seen. Random long hairs all over, her tail wasn't even touched. And I'm sure she didn't get water the whole time there either because she drank almost 2L of water when she got home. Our pup shows her anxiety by becoming deadweight and doesn't like to be touched by people she hasn't established trust with. I am stunned that this is an acceptable standard for PetSmart. I will never bring my baby back here.

Had a coupon for a discount on grooming and thought it would be a good way to check out the service so I could have a convenient backup established for when my usual groomer is booked up. From the moment I walked in with my golden retriever it was clear that although I had an appointment and there were only two other dogs there, the grumpy employees here didn't want to groom my dog. I was given attitude, and they made comments before I was even checked in with several reasons why the service might have to be cancelled. Seriously? There was really a bad vibe - like they had just argued amongst themselves before I walked in, and I should have just listened to my instinct and walked out. I unfortunately decided to go through with the service since I was already late for another appointment. An hour and 15 minutes later I was called to tell me that because my dog was drooling they wouldn't groom him and to come and get him NOW. I then found out he had been locked in a cage the moment I left without any part of the grooming process started at all. That is unacceptable stress to put on a pet. After being treated like this today, PetSmart just permanently lost a customer in me. It was a mistake coming here and one I will never repeat. I will drive out of my way to avoid this store and recommend you do the same if you care about your pets.

He is a recent rescue in our lives with a traumatic past and Maddy was very understanding. Even though the hair cut did not work out, she was so kind and taught us how to do it at home where he would be more comfortable with us. We were able to successfully do it at home! Upon picking up my dog, I immediately noticed she was shaved completely.... obviously FAR from what I had asked for and I mentioned that I was not happy to which I was immediately dismissed and told "she was matted so we shaved her". My dog was not matted, never has been as I wash and brush her once a week... even then, shaving her was never discussed. When I started to talk to a manager I was immediately asked "was she matted" rather than a slight concern. This was by far the worst grooming experience I've ever had at PetSmart. I've been a loyal customer…read moresince 2020, and my dog has always been loved by every groomer--until now. I booked the Bath & Brush ($40) plus Special Package ($35). I dropped my dog off at 1:00 PM, and by 1:40 PM they called saying he was "ready." In just 40 minutes? When I arrived, my dog was still wet on his belly and back, and he smelled terrible--not like a freshly bathed dog at all. I politely asked the groomer why the service was incomplete because there's no nail trim, no bandana, no toy--nothing, and all she did was blame my dog, who obviously cannot defend himself. When being asked, the groomer (Cecilia L.) blamed my dog, saying he "tried to bite." That is a lie. My dog is 5 years old, trained at PetSmart, never aggressive, and never even barks at people. I requested camera footage--they refused. The manager only dried him again and sprayed perfume to mask the smell. Four days later, I discovered my dog's ear was scratched and bleeding. This was not an accident--it was neglect and rough handling. PetSmart South Sacramento should be ashamed. My dog left terrified, injured, and dirty. I will never trust this location again, and I urge all pet parents to think twice before bringing their pets here.
