I wanted to work on getting better engagement with my two year old German Shepherd Kona and I wasn't sure what I was missing. After filling out the contact form, I got in contact with Terra and ended up scheduling our first session soon after. What I loved most about my session with Terra was that she met me where I was at in my training journey. She told me to show her what I typically do and then she offered me suggestions to adjust for better responses. When we attended Terra's group walk classes, the experience was similar. On one group walk, my dog was at his worst and Terra just kindly gave suggestions on what to adjust and he did amazing by the end. Terra is awesome and I appreciate her approach. She's exactly what I needed at this point in our journey.

Roux lacked a lot of manners, was pushy when it came towards other dogs in play time, and lacked impulse control. He was your stereotypical, overly-friendly dog who was too smart for his own good. Working with Susan has been such a pleasure and my pup came back to me with better manners and impulse control. He also plays very well with others dogs and loves to play tug with them now! Yay! Walking him is a dream. I especially love working and training with him in public because he is a rockstar and does sooooo well now! We get so many compliments on our daily walks or when I take him out for lunch on how well-behaved he is... all thanks to Susan! I loved the transition lessons as we prepared for him to come back home. It helped a lot with teaching me what I needed to know to set my boy up for success once he came back. He explained his training method and how he uses both reward & consequences. I signed up for his workshop immediately. Attended his workshop on 9/19/26. The presentation was fantastic and he did a great job evaluating me & my dog's disposition & drives. He offered great advice to make me a better handler for my dog. It's only been 3 days and by following his advice my dog isn't pulling and is much more engaged with me on walks. He pointed out why my dog acts like she does and gave me a gateway to working with issues. Definitely not a one & done but very effective. I will go back in 2-3 weeks to evaluate me & my dog to go to next level.

I signed my dog up online for agility 2 weeks before the class was scheduled to start. I did not receive any receipt or confirmation, but the money was withdrawn from my account. I did not hear anything from Competition Canine so I went ahead and called the day before his class was set to start, just so I could confirm. The person on the phone informed me that the class was cancelled! And was not even apologetic. They told me that the trainer was supposed to reach out and they would have her reach out to me. That would have been nice to know that the class was cancelled, I don't think it's too much to send out a simple email or text message. I'm just glad I didn't drive all the way out there to show up to a cancelled class. Well another week goes by and they finally let me know via email that I can sign up for another class or get a refund. I responded to their email asking for specifics regarding the other class that they had available as an option. I did not hear anything back. So another week goes by and at this point I'm not interested in their business so I send them another email asking for a refund for the class. I still have not heard anything back! I had to contact my bank to dispute the charge due to Competition Canine's negligence or just lack of customer service. I just don't understand how they can run a business like this. Not only were they incredibly inconsiderate of my time (if a class is cancelled that's ok, but just let me know), but to withdraw the money from my account and not respond to my inquiries? Seems fraudulent to me...I'd rather go elsewhere where there is real and considerate communication.

Back in July 2022, my husband and I decided to adopt a 9-month-old American Staffordshire Terrier from the SPCA. This poor guy was malnourished, neglected, and, we assume, abused. Despite his difficult past, he remained the sweetest and most endearing pup you could ever meet. However, due to being confined to a kennel for most of his early life, he lacked impulse control, had no understanding of proper dog manners, and became easily overwhelmed by the mere act of being outside. After encountering numerous false starts with trainers who lacked confidence, insisted on weeks of teaching him his new name (which he already knew along with a few basic commands), or relied heavily on negative reinforcement, we were starting to lose hope. Fortunately, a friend recommended Coffey House. Recognizing the need for both our dog and ourselves to be properly trained, we opted for the day-train program. From the very first session, we witnessed a remarkable improvement. Of course, he wasn't perfect overnight, but after completing her day-train program, attending additional classes, and committing ourselves to, as of now, 7 months of consistent work, we finally feel confident taking him out for walks and running short errands. We can now walk past other dogs without experiencing the previous meltdowns. It's hard to put into words how much progress we've made since that initial phone call, when we had almost given up hope of ever being able to take our dog for a simple walk.
