Every time I visit this PetSmart, the experience is always really good. The employees are friendly, and they always help people find products. PetSmart has a lot of reptiles, birds, and rodents on display. The animals look happy and healthy. The fish tanks tank up almost an entire wall, and you have a nice diversity of colors and sizes to choose from if you're adopting a fish. They also sell betas. The cat cages are in a glass viewing area so you can easily see which cat if your favorite. On certain days the employees take the cats out of their cages so you can play and interact with the felines. They have lots and lots of animal supplies for every pet, including dogs, cats, fish, hamsters, birds, lizards, snakes, and tarantulas. I definitely recommend for anyone looking for decently priced pet supplies! read more

This location is located next to Sally's and See's Candy in the Walmart parking lot. I used to come to this location a lot when I lived in Natomas, but now we only stop in if we're in the area. They have a Vet, a groomer and even a PetHotel which I don't recall seeing before. Maybe it's new? They seemed to be out of a lot of their small pets like birds and hamsters which I guess is a good thing that they went off to loving forever homes. They had Bearded Dragons, Chinchillas and Guinea Pigs though! They also have cat and kitten adoptions on Saturday's and Sunday's from 1-4pm. They had some holiday sales going on so we picked up a new camping bed for our Pit bull which she is going to love. Staff is hit or miss - I don't see many walking around to help, but they are generally friendly at the check out lines. Check them out! read more

After having to personally fix his grooming at home, I called the store the following day to express my dissatisfaction. The associate I spoke with apologized and explicitly assured me that because of the poor service, Finn's next bath and trim would be completely complimentary. ​July 4, 2026 (The Appointment): I brought Finn in for a scheduled full haircut with stylist Alexis. Alexis informed me she could only perform a bath and trim rather than the full haircut. I explained that this specific service would be free per the agreement made in April. While Alexis could not locate a note in the system so she appropriately involved the Store Manager, Anthony. ​The Resolution: Anthony listened to the history, validated my 15-year loyalty and the fact that I bring four dogs to this location, and made the executive managerial decision to honor the free groom. The matter was fully resolved. ​July 8, 2026 (The Escalation): Four days after the matter was settled, I received a phone call from the Grooming Salon Manager, Lauren, who wanted an explanation of what occurred. During this phone call, Lauren's behavior was entirely unacceptable for a management professional: ​ Accusations of Dishonesty: Lauren flatly accused me of lying, stating that I never had the initial conversation in April, and demanded that I return to the store to pay $83 for the service. ​Undermining Store Leadership: When I informed her that Store Manager Anthony had already resolved the issue four days prior, she claimed that Anthony did not have the authority to make that decision and stated she was "reneging" on his resolution. ​ Ultimatums and Extortion: Lauren explicitly told me that she did not care what the Store Manager had already resolved; she stated that if I did not pay the $83 I would be banned from returning to the grooming salon with any of my four dogs. Love going to this PetSmart location. I come here regularly since I am part of Cats About Town Society (C.A.T.S.). I have found this store marks items on discount that other PetSmart locations don't. They regularly clear out their inventory pretty quickly, especially the special holiday season items. This place gets a lot of foot traffic since it's next to a Walmart. I take my dog Luna here pretty regulerly and honestly its become one of our favorite stops. The staff are always so sweet with her and you can tell they actualy love animals which makes such a difference. The selection of food and toys is really good and ive always been able to find what im looking for. The grooming service is were its really shined for us, Luna always comes out looking so cute and they treat her so gently. I like that this PetSmart is available, but we don't depend on it for any of our dog care needs. We more stop in when we're running errands with our dog because he can come in with us and he enjoys exploring. The shop is very open and has a variety of items. They also have a couple pet clean up stations in case your furry friend has an accident. And it seems a lot of animals make themselves very comfortable here, my dog was in sniffing overload when we stopped in and I didn't let him linger around the poles and shelving for too long for fear that past leavings would make him think it was ok to mark as well. I did allow my little guy to sniff around the store and he found the cat section especially interesting. We picked up some treats, peered into the window where doggy daycare was happening and browsed the toy aisle as well. Overall the store is a-ok in my mind, but not amazing. Do not go to the Pet groomers here especially Lauren. Not only did she overcharge me, she also cut my dog's whiskers all the way off and he's been disoriented, rubbing his face all over the floor for days, and acting very strange. Do not trust your pet here with Lauren. I dont usually write reviews but I'm here to want you: It said $65 online for a Maltipoo haircut package. She began to tell me that my dog is not a Maltipoo and that he's a Yorkiepoo and that it would be $90 instead. I know for a fact he's a maltipoo he just has a unique coat and straighter hair. She said he's a Yorkiepoo because he's very big and Maltipoos are not that big. It's actually the opposite Yorkiepoos are very small and my dog is only 12 pounds, pretty normal if not small for a Maltipoo. I got tired of arguing about my dogs breed- even though he's a purebred and caved into it being more expensive because of his hair texture. Which she ended up making the case. Already figured she was bs me to make a bigger commission but I needed his haircut done. This was his second haircut, he's only 8 months old. His first one they were unable to complete due to him being young and so he's never had a full cut. Only scissors. I told her this and she said well if I can't give him a full cut I won't charge you for it. Only for what I complete. She notified me that he was being too fussy and she could not give him a full haircut just a bath, brush, and trim around his face, feet, and butt. I get back to pick him up and she tries to charge me $80- $10 off from $90 haircut package (that should've been $65 to begin with as advertised.) When I get there he's visibly upset which I thought was anxiety but he was barking because he had to go potty and was squatting to go #2 before I picked him up and took him outside. He hasn't had an accident in months and he tells you by gently barking or going to a door to go potty. A professional groomer for "16 years" should not know that! I told her that was not fair at all that she said she would not charge for what she didn't do and she took off $10 more dollars and put the paper down upset at me. I went and bought a pair of clippers and cut his hair no problem right afterwards. Lauren is very unprofessional, untrustworthy, and has caused my dog a lot of discomfort from cutting his whiskers very low. I'm going to make this a bigger deal with corporate. Brought 2 of my dogs for grooming service. The growing lady had to confidence and just showed poor service. If she were uncomfortable, why not say something instead we dropped of my dogs and when it was time to pick the up. We were told that they weren't blown dried and put in crate all wet which cause one of my dogs to poops in crate and all over himself. Both dogs did not look shiny or smelled good. How much is that doggie in the window... The one with the waggly tail... If you were looking for the latest and greatest in all things pets, Petsmart is the place to go. There definitely are a variety of other pet stores in the Sacramento region, this one just happens to be the closest to me. I love that they have a separate department for grooming, and while I find it to be pricier than I would like, they do a fairly basic decent job on your four-legged family member. They even occasionally run specials for grooming, which are always a good deal. I'm not thrilled with the vet services that they offer because I find them to be overpriced, understaffed, and like enough knowledge to make me comfortable for the care of any of my pets. The toy selection usually is fairly decent, but it's like going into a toy store for a kid. It's all about timing. And if you happen to miss out, then you may not get that squeaky toy that you wanted for your pet. They usually have specials during various times of the year for pet toys which make shopping for the pricey goodies, much more palatable and comfortable to your pocketbook. I'm here to tell you can spend a small fortune on squeaky toys that will be devoured in a short period of time. I really like the training/obedience classes that they offer. It's a great opportunity to socialize your hopefully well behaved pooch, and get them properly trained with basic commands so that they can venture out into the world with you, and without causing disruption to the rest of the world. The trainer is super knowledgeable and she's been doing this for years! She even will help you select a crate for your dog should you want to do crate training as well. If you are a pet food snob, this would be the place to pick up those pricey bags of pet food. I don't believe that they're a great bargain, but they do offer a decent variety. There's a huge shared parking lot with a variety of other large businesses/stores in the shopping center. Parking is free, and generally fairly easy to find a spot close enough to the door. read more

I used to come here when near Walmart ti either look at the kitties or get some hamster or parakeet needs when my daughter was younger. Back then it was mainly in and then out. No interaction or service. Well today, possibly the time of day (late afternoon), I was greeted upon entry asking if I needed help, then later by the fish and aquariums again and then when passing through the middle of the store. I was very impressed with the service and attention even though I was just going in to check out the hamsters and kitties. I love hammies and kitties! Lol. So I got to add photos and a Yelp review for them. It seems most negative 1 star reviews are aimed at the pet grooming services and not as many at the store itself. One thing is that the prices are higher than Petco and other pet brand type stores. Other than that it is a nice clean place for all your pet needs. I have never had a negative experience at their store in over at least 5+ years or longer. They adopt cats and kittens out on their right side of the store. Go bring a fur baby home today! read more

I have used PetSmart grooming for years and years, all across the US. I had a great experience at this one a couple months ago so decided to return while we were visiting Sacramento. The groomers I requested were no longer there or not working this week. I signed up with 2 separate groomers so dogs could be done at same time. Got a message that I needed to come in an hour earlier than my appointment because one groomer was doing both. We rushed through traffic and were greeted by Kendra who told me my dog was a nipper so she was going to charge me extra. My dog is 9 and never bitten anyone. I told her she would be the first and that wouldnt say much for her. She threatened me by telling me I didnt have to leave my-dogs there. I definetly will not be back and will think twice about using PetSmart in the future. read more

The service provided from Wendy and Jason at the natomas location is below poor. I came in for a few fish no one on the floor or in aquatic section. Walked to front desk to ask for help (Jason) calls Wendy to come help I ask her for the fish. After waiting for her to come out the back I asked for the fish and went to get into line seeing the line was getting longer and longer with there only being 1 register open. As I got to the front I was told I needed to get out of the line and walk back to aquatics to get the fish.? After loosing my place in line I walked to the back and AGAIN NOBODY is there Wendy disappears. Jason says they are on the podium. Not seeing anything on any podium, so I walked back to the front and ask Jason if he can help he tells me he can't he's on the register and that I "needed to get the fish myself and bring them up front" not sure if that's protocol but I again go back to aquatics and wait for help. A customer told me they saw someone come out the side door and catch her attention. With a nasty attitude Wendy is fishing out fish from a completely different tank. After waiting another 6-7 mins another employee (Anthony) finally shows good service and helps. My advice if you guys don't enjoy working here or have an issue with certain customers you should not work here. read more

I've been getting my GSD groomed here for over 3 years and they always do a wonderful job! My pup is typically very well-behaved but has anxiety and sensitive ears about blow dryers. Despite that, she is always taken care of from head to toe. This last time she worked with Madii I believe who was super sweet and attentive to detail. I took my dog here because he needed a really good cut. I was out of town & wasn't able to groom him regularly so he was a bit matted. The groomer let me know that she would need to shave him pretty low. I was fine with that. Once done I felt like she did a good job. But the next day I realized he had two bleeding cuts on his ears. As the days went on I noticed the cut on his back & he was very irritated where his testicles use to be. I set up a visit with their supervisor & he basically told me that it wasn't their fault & that what I was seeing was cuts but bruising from the grooming due to him needing to be shaved low. They took no responsibility for what they did to my dog. He kept referring to the contract I signed as if I gave them permission to injure my dog. He offered to get the manager which confused me because I thought he was the manager because that's who I originally asked to speak to. I just left because I had way too many other things to do besides stand there and let them gaslight me and tell me they didn't injure my pup. My dog can't even sit down properly or go for a walk without stopping every couple of steps. & he's been licking his wound none stop. Pls don't take your dog here. Im so disappointed. read more

DO NOT GO TO NATOMAS LOCATION! Pet smart 6:30 Thursday 9/8 --- came in to return a tank I didn't even turn on and some plants that were too large for my tanks, had them inside bag, came to pick up sponge filters and grab some other items Grab some other fish supplies, and dog pads, come with my receipt in hand, was told by cashier (guy with a beard and glasses, maybe nick ) As I came up, he started to scan everything, I let him know I was returning the items inside the tj maxx bag, he then stated he didn't see me walk in with them (I wasn't greeted when I walked in, and the lady in fish dept saw me with the bag in my cart as I was looking for fish medicine... anyway I said oh really? It has been in my cart since I walked in, mind you NO ONE even greeted me when I walked in so I don't even think he was looking that direction! He said well my coworker saw you grabbing the SAME items off the shelf... never did that happen! I was looking at the other tanks and fish items because I have fish!!! He then said they have cameras and security and will be checking, I said go for it. Mind you I have been to the store every week waiting for sponge filters to come back in stock!! And literally had to take an ambulance from your parking lot after leaving the store just last week. (Due to a heart condition I have) He then called the manager or whatever she was over and she told him to process the refund... I had my bf come in as I was feeling highly uncomfortable and given my heart condition was feeling like I may need to have him handle the situation. He came in and asked him if he accused me of stealing and she answered and said no everything is fine, excuse me??? she did not hear what he said as she was not even there yet!!!! I almost had to walk alway I have never been so embarrassed, so disrespected, and so angry in my life! I have ALWAYS shopped with you guys and am concerned at the staff you have working! It is truly sad what customer service has come to these days!! I could cry, I have a heart condition which is what caused me to go to er my ambulance last week, and then this happening I was having heart palpitations! Our store didn't have the hoodie we wanted in a medium and they told us the Truxel location has it but we should call to make sure as we have to drive 40 min one way. So we did and had to speak to this SAM individual. I rarely loose my temper and she make it happen. She just didn't give a damn about anything. Cold and rude. She explains things in detail, demonstrates clearly, and assists when a student/pet needs extra help/attention. I've successfully trained 2 dogs with Jaime and have benefitted greatly through puppy, intermediate, advanced, and tricks class! My dogs LOVE coming to class and greet Jamie with Joy!
