The day of there were morning cancellations and Lisa did call to see if I wanted to move up my afternoon slot, but I decided to keep the original time. This booking was the Bath & Brush + Summer Special Package PLUS. Originally I had wanted the Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day 3-in-1 Dog Shampoo, but she did have to switch to the itch relief/flea shampoo. Bath, full blow dry, brush out, nail trim, ear cleaning, anal gland expression, paw pad trim, sanitary trim. The Summer Special Package PLUS discounted add-on is a seasonal special including premium Mrs. Meyer's, CHI, HEMPZ, or earthbath shampoo and conditioner, a plush flamingo squeaky toy, a tropical-themed bandana, premium tropical spritz, PLUS teeth brushing, breath freshener, nail grind and a coupon book with $200 in savings. The appointment was at 1:45PM on a Sunday, and the appointment was completed by 4:30PM. Note that a $10 fee may be applied if your pet is not picked up within one hour of quoted completion time. Had a grooming appt booked with Katie G for 2:30pm for a bath and full cut, we get a call to come in earlier so we get there at 1:30pm and she says she doesn't have time to do a full cut, only a bath and trim. Based on the booking details online and the fact that we were asked to come earlier I'm not sure why she no longer had time to do what we originally booked? the entire interaction was not a pleasant one. No friendly greeting upon entry, no smile, no initiative to rebook us. Seemed like she didn't want to be there and we definitely didn't want to leave our fur baby with someone who didn't seem like they were in a good mood. Right from the start, Lisa was friendly, answered questions without judgment and just overall really sweet. Kiwi didn't hesitate to wiggle herself into her arms and Lisa welcomed her with open arms. The service took about 1.5 hours and we were notified with an actual call when Kiwi was ready. She came running to us with no sense of worry or fear so we knew right of the bat that she was nicely taken care off. After reading a bunch of mixed reviews about PetSmart grooming, I was honestly expecting the worst for my golden doodle's haircut. But I was so pleasantly surprised -- it came out really good! I should've read the reviews first for grooming services before I signed my dog up. As soon as we got there, the energy in this place was trash. The staff were not friendly at all, not at the front registers, the vet or the grooming area. We had a appt for grooming services. It was my dog's first time. She's very anxious but she's a sweetie. I should've gone with my gut and just walked out because Hailey, our groomer, didn't have good energy at all from the second we walked in. While she was able to complete most of the services I signed up for, the unfriendly and almost rude attitude of all staff will make me never return to this pet store again. Interestingly, they seemed really nice to their White customers. Is that coincidence given all staff I saw were also White? Do better, PetSmart! This isn't the first review calling out rude, likely racially charged behavior by staff here! Despite my experience, I still tipped, although a quarter of what I would've had the treatment been better. I just really hope they were nice to my dog after I left her there. I was very nervous leaving him because at a private groomer at the beginning of this year, he had a really bad experience. I was able to express my concerns with Lisa and she was VERY patient with me. It's a hit or miss at petsmart grooming but they did a great job at hiring Lisa. I wish I had time to grab more cash that i had to tip her more because I truly was surprised at such a great job she did, but now I know for next time !!!!! My dog has a double coat and I can tell when the groomers don't do a good job with his coat but with Lisa as his groomer when I checked his coat it was squeaky clean and conditioned VERY WELL. i took a chance bc there was only 1 review about her on Yelp and i'm very happy i took the chance because now as long as they keep Lisa, i will continue to come here with a high standard that Lisa has set. Do not go here!!! I've had several haircuts for my Pomeranian done here some good and some bad. I found a groomer that was doing a good job and stuck with her. She eventually left and I brought my dog in for an appointment with her and was informed she left and they scheduled me with a new groomer. I spoke to the new groomer and she assured me that they had notes on how to care for my dog and she was an experienced groomer with Pomeranians. I came to pick her up and they had shaved her. I was so upset because you don't shave a dog with hair like this. I complained, spoke to the manager, got comped a grooming and booked an appointment with an experienced groomer named Katie. Katie informed me that my dog was in coat shock and she would do her best to clean her up. My Pom actually looked very nice afterwards. We saw Katie again and had a fairly good haircut. I went in yesterday to have Katie groom my Pom and was informed that Katie wasn't there and I would be seeing Abi. I was very nervous and showed Abi photos of my Pom and let her know that my Pom had a hotspot on her back leg that was almost healed (just a little pink left over) but had been to the vet a week ago for vaccines, heartworm and got a clean bill of health. I leave my Pom with her and get a phone call 4 hours later from Abi that she is still working on Fiona and will call me in a 1/2 hour. I get a call and go down to pick up my Pom. Abi brings out my dog and says to me "You're not going to be happy about this, but it's not my fault." My dog had essentially been brushed bald and has thin layers of hair almost all over her body. Abi proceeds to tell me that she is required to do 30 minutes of brushing and my Pom's hair just came out. I was shocked. She starts telling me about coat shock and some other blah, blah...I couldn't believe that she continued to brush my dog with her hair falling out and then gave her a terrible cut on top of that. I stormed out and asked to speak to the manager. I got the assistant manager who told me she was already aware of what happened to my Pom. Abi had informed her that the hair loss was due to coat shock and my dog had hot spots. The assistant manager was kind, offered to have my dog reshaped by another groomer (No way you're touching my dog), seen by a staff veterinarian (again no way) and offered to refund my money. I took the refund and will be taking my dog to our vet because her skin is still pink and irritated today. She is traumatized and I feel awful for subjecting her to such a cruel day that someone pulled a good portion of her hair out. Take my advice. Pay the extra money. These people an inexperienced and do no care about your dog. read more

I have brought my puppy here multiple times, hoping for a simple trim, but they were never able to do it--only a shampoo, which I accepted. Out of frustration, I even bought clippers and started grooming him myself. Today, I decided to give them another chance and do a drop-in for just a shampoo. When I arrived, they refused to take him because of a few small mats under his feet--something they hadn't even noticed until they were taking him back. So, I drove all the way home in the rain, carefully used my matting comb to remove every single mat, and rushed back, trusting that they would now take him as they had promised. But when I arrived, they told me I'd have to wait another 20 minutes. At this point, I was exhausted, soaked from the rain, and just desperate for some help. None of the groomers were particularly friendly, but I was still holding onto hope that they would at least do a good job with my puppy. Instead, I was met with indifference and more inconvenience. I've been a PetSmart customer for as long as I can remember. They're conveniently located in the Sprouts and Sportsman's Warehouse shopping center with plentiful parking. I used to have an African Cichlid aquarium and purchased several fish and supplies over the years. When my favorite fish had a wound that concerned me, they helped me nurse him back to health my recommending a water treatment for fish wounds that thankfully worked wonders. We used to have a dog and purchased food, countless toys, and treats here. We currently have three cats and purchase a number of items to keep our feline friends happy and healthy. They carry amphibians and reptiles, birds, and fish and adopt cats through the City of Elk Grove Animal Shelter. They also have a grooming and veterinary clinic in the back of the store. We were looking to possibly add a little sister into the fold for our two boys. Jillian kindly and professionally assisted me and helped guide me through the process of their partnership with the city. We fell in love with Fern, she kindly reserved her for us, and I went to the city to complete the paperwork and make payment. Unfortunately, the infrastructure and system the city has is an absolute joke. The cat was adopted hours beforehand by someone who didn't follow the protocol of notifying an employee as stated throughout the adoption area. Needless to say, my wife and daughters were angry, disappointed, and upset. The store did nothing wrong, and Jillian was a consummate professional, empathetic, and really advocated for us even though the situation was out of her hands. Thankfully, our girls found another cutie at the shelter in need of a forever home, and we stopped by to purchase her a collar, litter box, and some treats. Jillian is exactly what the world needs more of in 2024. Management who accepts constructive criticism is empathetic and not afraid to admit if there's been a mistake made. The city just passed the buck in typical government fashion. PetSmart has a number of great deals on their website frequently. You can do in store pickup, request delivery, or shipping. I like to come to PetSmart shopping for Latte and Butters. They have a lot of things the furry boys are wanted. I like to check out their fish and other animals in the store whenever I'm there. PetSmart seems to take care of them very well. They're ready to go to your home to become part of your family. The store is spotless even lots of dogs come with their family to the store. The items are displayed in the store very well--a good layout with all the sections easy to navigate. I can find the stuff I'm looking for very quickly. The employees at the check-out counters are happy and friendly to the customers and their furry babies. I can tell they love the animals themselves. Disappointing Grooming Experience at PetSmart Laguna Blvd. Elk Grove CA. I had a deeply disappointing experience at PetSmart during my Malitpoo's grooming session. Despite years of positive experiences, this visit left a bitter taste. My pup, who struggles with anxiety during grooming and takes medication before grooming, was abruptly abandoned mid-service because he resisted having his legs shaved. While I understand the challenge, the groomer's response was shockingly unprofessional. Upon my arrival, I found my dog in disarray, with unevenly trimmed fur and neglected areas. She said blade is not taking it off so he would need to be sent home and need to see somebody else to get that taken off . . The groomer did not bother to trim other areas. Leaving a bad review is not something I enjoy, typically I have to bite my tongue from doing so. However, I'm writing this negative review to share my experience and hope that it helps others to be careful and also avoid their beloved pets from being injured. When visiting family in Elk Grove, we decided to bring our family dog for a much needed groom session (with Covid-19 happening, our options for a small business groomer was very limited and pretty much not available) we opted for PetSmart, since it wasn't taking off too much hair, we just wanted her cleaned up - it shouldn't be too bad we thought. WRONG. When we picked up our dog, we didn't noticed it until we got home, right there, below her ear was a nasty, razor burn looking rash. We were immediately heart broken. We couldn't believe it. So many questions were raised, how come they didn't call us about this? Did they not see it? Was she in pain? We felt so bad for her and somewhat blamed ourselves for it happening. The next day we called and brought it up to the store manager, the groomer who cut our dog's hair was named, Katey B. And of course, as we expected, they 'didn't see anything' and said they would investigate further. That also was another disappointment with nothing found and no real apology. We were not offered a refund, but they offered us to have her looked at with Banfield. That was definitely the salt on the wound, for a huge corporation to deny and not accept any responsibility. Our dog arrived for a haircut just fine, but after what happened she is now traumatized and probably experiencing some sort of PTSD - she shivers and shakes whenever she sees a leash now. My normal PetSmart is the one located in Delta Shores but they were out of what I desperately needed so I hightailed it to this location and made it right before closing. I've been to this location a handful of times and it's always clean and presentable, their live animal selection does seem better than other locations as well but they are noticeably more expensive and only carry the higher end pet items versus the Delta Shores location. Most likely a demographic thing, Elk Grove versus South Sac, but still unfortunate. Staffing here can be hit or miss as well. It appeared only one person was working the night we came in and she had a line forming so trying to get help with questions was hard and timely. Overall we really needed kitten formula and bottles to hand feed a litter we recently found and they had what we needed to save the day. We were excited to schedule a nail trim appt for my son's dog while they were visiting. Arrived for our 950 am appt. Told they were really busy but would get to us quickly. We waited 40 mins to watch them take two walk in customers, folks that walked up and asked if they could get grooming for their dogs and be taken in right away. We left. We hate that it feels like it was racially motivated, every isn't, but we are African-American and both customers that walked in after us without appts and were seen were white. Since I moved to Elk Grove, I have gotten my dog's nails trimmed at this store. He's a little nervous, but they have been great about working with him and he has been relaxed after. Today when we went in, there seemed to be all new staff and it went really poorly. They didn't ask the questions that I'm used to being asked. They just didn't have the warm demeanor of the previous staff and it was really scary for my dog. I used to love the staff in the grooming salon and I'm a little sad that I'll have to find somewhere else. This morning, I went to the Farmers Market, part of my Saturday routine and then on to Petsmart to pick up my usual weekly supplies, I have three big dogs, Shepard, Malinois, and Doberman/Shepard mix. I am usually greeted by a very nice young man, always calls me boss and is ALWAYS super polite. I was apparently running early this morning. The doors of the store were wide open however and there were 2 people inside so I didn't think anything of it. I grabbed my basket and went and got what I needed. As I was approaching the register, a woman, I'm assuming the store manager, rudely said we're not open yet, I don't know who left the doors open. I didn't say anything and went and put my items back and placed my basket back at the front door, I had to reopen the doors to let myself out, I closed them back as well. As I was exiting, the store phone rang, and I heard her say, "now what? Just before she answered it. I've been coming to this store for about 15 years now, usually spend on average $75.00 a week. Never have I heard anything like that from any store employee, nor have I ever been so rudely treated there. This employee, a mid aged white woman, dark hair, was in one shitty mood. I simple I'm sorry sir, we're not open yet would have been a very simplistic, respectful, apologetic response for being there. Had a 3:00 appointment. Got there 10 minutes early. Was told my groomer was at lunch and would return at 3. She asked me my dogs name and I told her. She said wait outside on the benches and Megan would come and get you. I did this. After 26 minutes and 4 dogs that were taken in I went inside the grooming area were 3 young ladies standing at the counter and 1 young lady grooming a small dog. I said " that I have a 3 o'clock and were is Magen?" They all looked at each other. One Said " she's in the back washing dogs". 4 dogs ahead of me and only one persons washing dogs. I see why it takes 3 to 4 hours to get your dog back. I waited 25 minutes and the person who was to take charge and register my dog is in the back washing dogs. Then the young lady said " we can take her now". I said " no I'm going somewhere else". Young lady said "ok". No apologize or reasonable excuse. We took our dogs to the Delta Shore groomer. So, I've gone to this petsmart many times just to buy necessities for my dog and cat. I've had all good experiences when buying random things like food, toys, etc. This was the first time I used their grooming service. This review is solely for the grooming service. I created an account online. I put in all of my dog's information including the breed (Australian Cattle Dog) and his weight (51 pounds) (Also he is a mixed breed). I booked the standard grooming package which is $37. I brought him in, went to pick him up a couple hours later. I was told when I got him that I was going to be charged $43 because he was bigger than anticipated. I was told that he was bigger than an Australian Cattle Dog and they had to categorize him as a border collie to accommodate the service. I said "he's a cattle dog mix." The employee said, "ya but he's bigger then what we thought a cattle dog would be, so we have to charge extra." This seems like a bait and switch. No where on the website, does it say that "prices may vary depending on size of animal." Also, I clearly indicated on my profile what breed he was and how much he weighed. Given that information, shouldn't there be a system in place that accommodates dogs of that size? If they saw the information, it wouldn't have been supposed that he's a big 51 pound dog. It shouldn't matter that he was bigger than what they thought was a cattle dog. The employees didn't even seem to want to be there. They looked miserable and weren't friendly in this process. On the card they gave me, they said his nails looked good and were supposed to be trimmed. They were definitely NOT trimmed. Pretty frustrating and I won't be bringing him back to be groomed. Guess I should have expected it given the reputation that Petsmart's grooming station has. You're better off going somewhere else. read more

I took my dog for a bath and brush last Friday, 7/28/2023, and dropped her off at 3:40 pm. During the check-in process, I was asked if my dog had a heart murmur, and I answered, "No, she had been cleared, no heart murmur." When I brought my dog here 3 visits ago, I had said she was going to be tested for a possible heart murmur, and that was the end of the whole heart murmur issue as far as Petsmart was concerned. I had taken my dog several months back to UC Davis Vetinary Hospital to see a Vetinaruan Cardiologist, and after blood work, exam, and cardiac sonagram, we received the great news, she did NOT have heart desease! I had her bathed at Petsmart 2 additional times since that first visit with no problems. I had continued to return to petsmart as there was one young man who appeared to do a good job, and Mags seemed to like him. So last Friday, I rushed through Friday traffic and arrived at Petsmart, and the check-in continued. I was asked 3 more times about the heart murmur, and I said two more times, she had cardiac clearance, and there was no murmur. Okay, sounds okay, right. May I add, there were no dogs being grommed when I arrived, I was taken aback that thete was only one person stadi g cleaning when we arrived. I asked, "Why so quiet? No response. I left Mags with 2 groomers and a completely empty grooming area. I returned to work. My phone rings 1 hr and 15 mins after I had dropped her off, and I asked, "Are you done already! I hear the same groomer asking my, "Does your dog have a heart murmur?" I asked him, What are you talking about?" I have already told you, NO HEART MURMUR. He tells me to hold on a second and places me on a very extended hold. Meanwhile, I think my dog is dead, something went wrong, I was so upset, and yelling into a phone that no one is answering. Let me tell you by the time I spoke to the store manager, I was very upset, and in a panic asked what the hell is going on!!. What happened to my dog? What is going on.....and he in this stupid snotty voice said if I calmed down, he could then speak. So, I waited for the terrible news that my girl had been hurt or dropped dead during the bath (she does not like taking a bath, she acts like I am trying to kill her, hence the trips to this darm place! This incompetant person referred to me as are you the Mags person, (WTF) WHAT, and he asks me, wait for it, guess what he is going to ask me? Got it, bingo, DOES MY DOG HAVE A HEART MURMUR?" I had a complete meltdown, now that I know my buddy is alive and well, What have these morons been doing for the past 1 hr and 10 minutes! I then ask, has she had her bath?" Silly question. I jump into my car, driving like a crazy person to get my dog out of there before they do anything else! Clearly, a bunch of idiots and Mags is my buddy.. She gets the best, and this is crap. So, I am not done yet, My phone rings as I am 1 minute away from the store, and that person who never told me his name says, he would like to try and deesculate the situation, and said, hey I am almost there, I would like to speak to you in person, and he said okay. I arrived 3 minutes later and entered the store with a mission...super woman, to save my pup!. I ask for the manager, and this nice young lady at the checkout tells me "He is on LUNCH! " I am bewidered, no, I just spoke to him." Please go and let him know I am here." She tells me, "He LEFT THE BUILDING! Since Joe K and I were in the area, I suggested we visit this pet supply store to see if they carried the large bands that are used to hold litter liners in place to cat litter boxes. I also needed to get a bag of Instant Ocean for my saltwater aquarium. The main reason I wanted the rubber bands, were to hold a garbage bag in position to my garbage can and give it a neater appearance. (My dad accidentally threw mine out along with the garbage). I didn't realize how hard this simple convenience would be rare to find! It seems that litter liners are now made with the elastic built in to hold them in place. While we were in the store, I got to spend some time browsing the whole facility! I was pleasantly surprised at how neat and organized every aisle was! There were so many selections and variety to choose in every category from food, toys, beds, carriers, and supplies for every pet care need. There was even a large selection of cute adoptees such as kitties, puppies, birds, rodents, reptiles, birds and fresh water fish. A veterinary hospital and grooming salon is also on the premises, which is a great convenience to have all in one place! But the reason I couldn't give this place a 4 or 5 star rating like I had initially planned early on during my shopping experience, was that I purchased a 15 pound bag of Instant Ocean for $29.15 (with tax) which seemed more expensive than I'm used to buying at aquarium specialty stores. When I went to Petco, located nearby, I found the same bag of Instant Ocean $7.00 cheaper! Needless to say, I felt ripped off and if I hadn't been so tired that evening, I would have put the energy into returning said product and bought it at Petco instead! Now I'm a little leary about trusting the prices here and their mark up standards! Not sure if I will bother returning here for supplies anytime soon..... read more
