3 of our cats are on prescription food--diabetic, renal failure 7 kidney/bladder issues-- so we're here a lot. We had an unfortunate experience w/one of the brands in that multiple/different scripts of that brand's can food was either moldy or had spoilage wherein our cats refused to eat any of the food. We had absolutely no problom returning it & purchasing a competitor's prescription brand instead. read more

If I can leave zero I would. We had a really bad experience with our pet getting groomed at this location. I had booked online, we came early; waited for our turn to drop off our fur baby with them for a doodle grooming, he wasn't badly matted some under belly and legs maybe and to us it felt like a short hair cut and brushing would have sufficed. We were told the groomer was over book unfortunately and it would be a 3-4 hour wait until we got our pet back. Dropped him off at 1.30pm. Went back to the store at 5pm told he might be ready by 6-6.30pm. Got a call around 6-6.15pm told pick up my pet. For the 5 hours my pet was there, he was shaved closed to skin and told his face and tail was saved. We have never had an issue with our regular groomer at a different establishment whenever he is shaved down.. so to find out 4 days later that my pet has a skin infection that is a result from aggressive and unhygienic grooming practices was hurtful- after a $400 vet bill was deeply frustrating and disappointing. We are NEVER taking our fur baby to these people. The store needs to put in better hygiene practices where clippers are cleaned thoroughly in between fur clients. I will never recommend this store location to my friends and family. Disappointed and this store needs to enforce stricter hygiene standards and not over book their groomers with client - to the point where a pet is left with them for 5 hours only to get shaven down. Spoke with the store manager: her tone was defensive, dismissing that they never overbook clients for their groomers. I gave her details of our appointment and- all she said in return was she will follow up with the groomer and she apologized. I insisted that the store needs to change or enforce higher hygiene standards between clients and not to overbook clients for the groomers who have to juggle too many clients and keep pets for 5-6hours only end in kennels so they can cater to someone's mistake of overbooking furry clients. read more

Dear Grooming dept, let's find some customer service. First time at this PetSmart in Rancho Cordova for a grooming apt. Appointment was for 7am so I could get to work on time and pick her up during a break. I got there right at 7 and no one was to be found. Doors were locked. I waited a few and an employee came, yet did not have the keys. He called his manager. 5 minutes later another employee came and also did not have the keys. Neither of these people worked in the grooming dept. Over the weekend I received numerous text reminding me of this appt which I confirmed. Finally at 7:20 the store manager came and said he had car trouble. Which was a bummer for him and I felt bad. I asked about the grooming and he said "oh she called out." It seems to me that the grooming dept or someone could have sent me a message or called me. If you can message me on reminders then message me on cancellations. We all work and have busy lives, I get it. Yet a courtesy message would go a long way instead of me now needing to take my dog home and then get to work. No sorry, no "can we reschedule", no "how can I make it right." Just a bummer of a way to start a day. read more

I never leave reviews but I feel like I need to warm others. Today I attempted to take my mini Golden doodle to be groomed but they sent him home with no service provided because he supposedly threw up 4 times in an hour. I find this suspicious for multiple reasons. 1. He has never thrown up that much at home. 2. I usually take him to a different groomer every 10 weeks and they have never reported that he threw up. 3. I tried to take my pitbull to get a bath here several years ago and they sent her home without service because "she was shaking her head too much". Thanks for waisting my time. Except for the gentle man who works there in the pet grooming department and is always helpful. The lady who works there must have an unresolved problems in her life which bring them to work. They should not let her to be around little dogs because her strong personality which triggered stress and anxiety in my little old pet and the stress environment she created was enough for my dog started to shake like she was about to have seizures, as she reported to me later on. I just went. same week, to the vet next door and my dog's eyes problems were resolved, otherwise the vet said my dog was healthy. I was a loyal customer and happy to use the pet grooming services in PetSmart and I'm sad that for them I'm just a number in their financial statistics and not a client requiring service that I not longer be able to use. I felt it was justified to update my review for PetSmart's grooming salon after all these years. We have since gotten a new pup (a mini Australian labradoodle) and have had a GREAT experience here! Since the breed of dog we have now requires her to get groomed fairly often and those who groom this breed have to know what they're doing (they shouldn't be shaved down like poodles!), I was hesitant to take her to PetSmart. Everyone I know with this type of breed, always takes their dog to a private groomer but I called PetSmart to inquire about their qualifications because they're conveniently located close to us. I spoke with a gentleman named Rich who talked extensively about all the experience he and the other groomers there have--10+ years! He also said they were very familiar with ALDs and groom a ton of them. We had a lengthy conversation in which I felt confident in what Rich told me and decided to take our pup in. Our pup is now no longer a pup but recently turned a year old. From 6 months old, we have been taking her to Cecille, and I can't say enough good things about her! Cecille listened to what I asked for when I said I wanted a teddy bear cut and made notes as I was speaking. She then reiterated what I wanted and went over how she would groom our dog, to make sure we had a clear understanding. We have yet to be disappointed with Cecille and although I know the other groomers have tons of experience up their belts, we go to Cecille each time. She is very thorough in her job, genuinely seems to enjoy what she does, takes her time with our dog, and always makes our dog look amazing when we pick her up. She also always finds a way to squeeze us in when we need a last minute appointment, which is much appreciated. Kudos to Cecille! Thank you for being so awesome. read more

I take my dog to PetSmart about every 6-8 weeks there and she loves it. We let her walk around PetSmart and I know she love it because whenever we walk around she starts licking employees. She gets so excited that she pees everywhere. We get her groomed (and like I said 6-8 weeks.) and this groomer named Cecille does a really good job on our dog. The service was really kind, they always have a smile on their faces and always have something nice to say. I totally recommend this place if you have a pet or want to buy one. read more

Scheduling grooming appointments is super easy through the online website link on Yelp. So easy, that I was able to get a SAME DAY appointment! Because I scheduled with someone we have not seen before, I arrived a little earlier than normal so I can vibe with the groomer and go over what we expect and like for Mack's haircut. Betty was nice; she was already at the front desk when I walked in. She asked all the right questions and seemed knowledgeable about dogs. Her photo on the wall states she's been a groomer for 15 years... About two hours passed and I received a call stating Mack was ready for pick up. Total came out to $60, this includes full bath, haircut, nail trim/grind, ear cleaning/flush ($49), basic teeth brushing (additional $11). I looked at Mack and his hair was slightly uneven. You can see some hairs sticking out, some shaven. Around his goaty it was still long in some areas so when I got home I spent 20 minutes trimming it. A few of his nails were sharp, so they weren't grinned down? I will try another groomer in the future. read more

Supplier issues the last few months have limited crickets available to once a week deliveries. Nice to see cats getting placed quickly and the shelves are filled with good products for customers. On Thursday my boyfriend, my daughter and I stopped in to redeem a store coupon I received in the mail. I purchased my seal point ragdoll's favorite treats, PureBites Freeze Dried both Shrimp and Chicken and of course her favorite wet food, Grain Free Tiki Cat with gravy! She is one happy kitty and I'm one happy fur mom knowing she's getting the best! I would highly recommend this location, they host cat adoptions, my daughter said hello to some sweet playful kittens and our cashier was both helpful and sweet! I go here about 2-3 times a month for my two cats. The employee, Kat, is so kind and very professional/knowledgeable. The other girls I've met there are so sweet too! I didn't catch the name but there's a younger lady with red hair she's awesome! My cats food is always in stock, thankfully! I always stop by to say hi to the kitties up for adoption, the door is always open when I'm there. I will say, the fish department could use some loving, seems kinda depressing. I went in on Wednesday around 5pm on 6/12/24, I'm extremely disappointed with the lack of communication. I booked the appointment online for a bath and brush only. When reviewing the price to add on only a brush of the teeth service the tech recommend the summer special they had which was $27, this including bath, brush, nail trim and teeth brushing. she did not specify this would be an additional package to one I already booked. I was under the assumption the other one would be dissolved, if I was informed this I would have declined the additional package. Upon pick up I was told my dog was aggressive and they needed to trim her while I held her. I did not mind but service tech did not suggest a blow dry to blow off all that nail dust off my dog which I believe should have been at least a forethought considering I paid $55 to leave this place with her looking like she has major dandruff. Kind of ridiculous for the price paid and a scam. The overall attitude of the employees I have to say were amazing regardless of the experience I had. She was the nicest and best cashier there I've come across, the grooming area deserves ZERO stars they were not communicative and rude asf, they over charged me and didn't even tell me, they tied to cancel my appointment bc I was late when I was not, they told me 415pm and when I got there they said it was at 4pm, liars! This store is going above and beyond during COVID. We went to get nails trimmed and shop for food/dog toys. There are many signs, stickers on the floor and consistent reminders to do your part, keep a distance and wear your mask. There are sanitizing materials present, they are cleaning each cart that comes back after use. In the grooming salon, they only allow one family in at a time, they ask us to remove every piece of fabric on our dogs, before handling them. They are using clean/non clean pen holders, etc. They are being very clean and I just want them to know they are doing a great job at it! read more

Do not buy your fish here! The manager admitted to me that there was something wrong with their tanks and their fish die repeatedly! I came here to bring back some fish that didn't work out well in my tank. I walk in and head to the podium near the fish tanks, to be greeted by a woman who immediately said she couldn't sell us any fish because of an issue that they are having with their tanks. I said that is OK, as I had no intention of buying any fish, but I wanted to return some Danios and a Pleco I had bought a couple days before. She begins to ask why I was returning them and I explain to her that they weren't working in my tank. Not that they were bad or unhealthy fish, the Danios were just too active and the Pleco was just too inactive, and spent his whole day pooping and fouling up the tank. She proceeds to get preachy and tell me all of the reasons why the fish should've worked out. We get to the point where she is about to take my fish, and she realizes that I purchased them at a different store. I came to the store because it is the closest, and I wanted to make sure the fish weren't out of a tank and being stressed for longer than absolutely necessary. She then tells me, that she cannot take a fish back at her store, but I had to return to the store that I purchased them from and that was a company policy. I begin to explain to her, that I have bought a fish at multiple different stores and return them at multiple different stores in the past, but it would never be an issue again with her store because I would never come back. I feel like she was just looking for a way to not have to do the return on the fish, I would assume because her tanks are trash. The only time I've ever bought fish from this location was when I bought some neon tetras that ended up getting Ich in the first week, and another time I bought ghost shrimp that ended up being macrobrachium and not paleomonetes. I watched one of those ghost shrimps pounce on a tetra (one of the ones that had Ich, and I was treating with Ich-X), and begin attacking and eating him alive. Needless to say, those shrimp went back as well. Avoid this store and their people - Folsom is WAYYYYY better for fish. The employees are top notch compared those in Rancho. read more

I have been going to Petsmart to have my dogs nails trimmed for about 2 years.... at first I thought maybe it was just a bad experience here and there, I've tried to wait and see if things change, but after several bad experiences I won't be going back. First off, I was told to just walk in whenever a nail trim was needed: so that's what I do. Almost every time I go in I get treated as an inconvenience. The employees are snippy and unaccommodating. I always feel like I'm unwanted. I tried to make an appointment, because they always seem upset I don't have one, but I was told I can't make appointments for nail trims. Enter Covid. I haven't been into the store for a while, but the dogs really needed a trim, so I loaded them up and took them down. Now, I'm told they can't take the dogs without an appointment, AND even though there were openings they can't/won't make same day appointment. I was told to bring the dogs back next day for an appointment. And yes, they acknowledged the policy had changed. Somehow I was suppose to know? I'm done. The vet charges twice as much, but it's worth it for better customer service. read more

I booked a bath for my dog for the first time at this location. The appointment time I chose was for an hour. When I dropped my dog off, I was told it would be 2 hours. That pushed me to rearrange the plans I had for the evening which I wasn't too pleased about. Before I left, I was told I'd receive a phone call when my dog was ready to be picked up. 2 hours came and went with no phone call. When I walked in, my dog was ready but I have no idea if I could have picked her up sooner because no one called me when she was ready like they said they would. Needless to say, I was disappointed. However, the staff seemed really nice. I do plan to return, however, I will make sure to go on a day I have nothing else to do and I will call after one hour in case my dog is ready since the call system isn't reliable. read more
