I've had bulldogs in the past and had no problem with their training. Of course they were stubborn, but they were obedient. Bowie is a wild, active and very athletic energetic bulldog (not what anyone would expect from a bulldog). When we met Karen, he was pulling me through the park, had no interest in me or any respect for boundaries. I couldn't leave him alone without him barking continuously, had to leash him the whole time around my nieces and nephews. I was completely stressed and defeated. I was failing this innocent dog. Karen and I discussed a plan and agreed upon weekly sessions. It wasn't easy but it was 10000% worth it. After multiple sessions, some boarding and time put in "at home", he walks very well on leash, can even be trusted to be off leash in familiar areas, comes when called, sits, downs(with treats), stays, goes to his "place", can be crated without an issue, and most importantly can be around my nieces and nephews without worry! My elderly mom can walk him on her own, he's even patient with her going up and down stairs. I leave him to go to work, without any issues. I bring him to restaurants, to stores, anywhere he can go he does. Thank you to Karen, her knowledge, introducing proper tools, teaching me and her encouragement, support and patience I have a complete different dog. I can whole heartedly say I have my soul dog. It is not easy to find someone you can trust and that you feel safe leaving your fur baby with. Karen gives you that peace.

He explained his training method and how he uses both reward & consequences. I signed up for his workshop immediately. Attended his workshop on 9/19/26. The presentation was fantastic and he did a great job evaluating me & my dog's disposition & drives. He offered great advice to make me a better handler for my dog. It's only been 3 days and by following his advice my dog isn't pulling and is much more engaged with me on walks. He pointed out why my dog acts like she does and gave me a gateway to working with issues. Definitely not a one & done but very effective. I will go back in 2-3 weeks to evaluate me & my dog to go to next level.

I signed my dog up online for agility 2 weeks before the class was scheduled to start. I did not receive any receipt or confirmation, but the money was withdrawn from my account. I did not hear anything from Competition Canine so I went ahead and called the day before his class was set to start, just so I could confirm. The person on the phone informed me that the class was cancelled! And was not even apologetic. They told me that the trainer was supposed to reach out and they would have her reach out to me. That would have been nice to know that the class was cancelled, I don't think it's too much to send out a simple email or text message. I'm just glad I didn't drive all the way out there to show up to a cancelled class. Well another week goes by and they finally let me know via email that I can sign up for another class or get a refund. I responded to their email asking for specifics regarding the other class that they had available as an option. I did not hear anything back. So another week goes by and at this point I'm not interested in their business so I send them another email asking for a refund for the class. I still have not heard anything back! I had to contact my bank to dispute the charge due to Competition Canine's negligence or just lack of customer service. I just don't understand how they can run a business like this. Not only were they incredibly inconsiderate of my time (if a class is cancelled that's ok, but just let me know), but to withdraw the money from my account and not respond to my inquiries? Seems fraudulent to me...I'd rather go elsewhere where there is real and considerate communication.

I brought my dog to her home, she checked him out, we talked about wants, needs, concerns, goals, training plan, cost etc... we decided to do her in house program where she has your dog stay with her for a month and is trained the entire time. Ursula sent us pictures and progress updates daily, it was great! Our dog was not just trained but also taken care of and loved his entire stay there. When the month came to an end and our dog's training was done she delivered him back to our home and did a 2 hour training session in our own home to show us how to continue to handle/train with him. He was very obedient, calm and content. We are very very happy with The Skilled K9 and cannot recommend it enough to those looking to take their dog to the next level of training.
