Food is fantastic! The table-side guacamole is the best I have had. You could make a meal out of chips and salsa they are so good! The reason I am only giving 4 stars instead of 5 is once we got our meals the server was no where to be found, we didn't get refills on our drinks until we were done with our meals. IMHO: Restaurant reviews should be about the food and the service, nothing else since you not eating the decor. read more

I wouldn't call it texmex by a long shot. Chips were a giant grease bucket. Carnitas was extremely dry & tuff. In typical wisconsin fashion, zero flavor. Very disappointed in service & food. read more

Mediocre food and the service was ok. If you like chain restaurants then this is the place for you.

The food was delicious and the service was friendly and fast. Some of the best Mexican food I have ever had and can't wait to come back and have it again! I got the chicken fajitas and the chicken was so tender I basically melted in my mouth. Very pleased. read more

If I could give the place zero stars, I would! Overpriced and disgusting. Food was served in literally 4 minutes which tells me it's pre-cooked. Chicken fajitas for one, were $20 and not even sizzling when they came to the table. Chicken was lukewarm and tasted like seafood! After further review, the manager did confirm that they use they same grill to cook their fish, shrimp, and chicken. so unacceptable. I will never go back and I highly recommend others to not waste their money! Huge disappointment! read more

Been to lots of Mexicans places I think this was a once and done. Too much confusion at the bar, where we ended up sitting and eating. The price for a drink was over priced food was ok. When u say a bowl of soup and a cup comes out yikes. read more

My two friends and I were in town for the (frigid) weekend of February 1-3 for a Christian men's conference. After the GREAT conference we passed Uncle Julio's and noticed that the parking lot was packed at 4:30 in the afternoon. We decided to consider it for dinner since we have a Southern California / Southwest background and love Mexican food. When we got back to the hotel I Yelped Uncle Julio's and was surprised to see a 3.5 rating. After reading the reviews we decided the other reviewers must have been depressed because what they wrote did not match the grade. As it turns out we were correct. When we arrived at around 6:00 the place was hopping and we were told that we would have an hour wait. Not a problem, what else did we have to do. Everyone was having a good time and so were we and as luck would have it we found a tall table for 6 in the bar which we shared with a local retired couple and we had the best time. The waitress and the servers were great. The food lived up to the Tex Mex title but was exceptionally tasty. I had the beef fajitas and they were as good as I have ever had. All of that and the kitchen must have been on overdrive because the food came out really fast. We all gave our entire experience 5 stars. We will be coming back again next year. Keep doing what you are doing Uncle Julio. read more

We called ahead of time to make a reservation. When we arrived there was no table ready. We waited over 30 minutes to finally be seated. The chips were extra greasy and really thin. The food was not great. The portions were small for what I paid. I will not be returning. read more

Placed a carry out order online. One dinner item was missing and another was completely incorrect. They said they would credit back the two meals, but one week later no credit had posted. Called to inquire about the credit during off peak hours and was left on hold for over 20 minutes. Food was cold and mediocre. I'd stay away from Uncle Julios read more

The place was packed on a Thursday at 5, we walked in with no reservations, yet immediately were seated. Drinks arrived quickly and so did the food. Drinks were overpriced. Margarita, although it was good was $10 and it was in a regular high ball glass. The food was also quite good, although, a bit overpriced. We were celebrating a birthday and the waiter brought their standard "birthday treat", a mini Cajeta, which was very good, however, we were charged for it, which we thought was funny. The place is beautiful, great service, just a bit on the pricey side. read more

Just ate lunch with friends and the place, menu, meal and service blew me away. Gotta say without hyperbole it was the best Mexican food I've had in years. If you go there, try either the steak fajitas or tacos (although everything I tried was 5 star quality). And if at all possible, see if you can have Norma as waitress - she made a great lunch a fantastic one. read more

This place is disrespectful to Mexican food. It was disgusting, food was cold, over priced and extremely mediocre. The only thing I enjoyed was my water and the queso dip. The chips even sucked! Hostess were rude and they looked at me in disgust, for whatever reason I would love to find out. Service was bomb tho :) read more

New restaurant in Wisconsin.. Brookfield.. Good food, beautiful place and excellent service! The outdoor seating is awesome for the summer months.. large, interesting bar! Definitely worth trying ! read more

First time eating here. Hostesses were very inattentive. Food was not good. First batch of chips were salty little bits of chips. Second batch were do greasy they left a film in your mouth. Meals were not good either. Beef enchiladas were super spicy and had a strange sweetness we could not place. Took two bites and did not eat any more. One of my companions tried and combo plate to try a little of everything. She also did not like her food and took none of it home for leftovers. Only good thing was our waitress but I unfortunately did not get her name. Will not go back. read more

place was overcrowded and the servers were taking the food to the wrong tables. There were lot of delays. The tacos were overpriced for the quality of the food. Nothing especial in this place. The portions were small (rice and beans are very cheap, they could afford a little bigger portion) The ventilation system seems non existing. I think they are over their heads at this time Not going back. You can get better and cheaper Mexican food in other places and without the long wait read more

We have been here 2 times, the first time to try it out the second time was with a gift card and were not happy either time. First there isn't any tap beer the house margarita is overpriced and pretty much all ice. On to the food, I ordered Chicken Enchiladas that came with dry rice and beans that would go better with barbeque chicken then a delicate enchilada. When I took my first bite the chicken tasted very much like it came from a can, so I decided to dissect my meal and sure enough it wasn't fresh at all. Chicken from a can is how we can order and within 5 mins. our food was on our table and not very hot. Overpriced and questionable quality. read more

Good food and awesome service. The electronic check system was very handy as well. We went opening week and everything seemed in order and was handled professionally. I would definitely visit again! read more

I would suggest to eat literally anywhere else my family and I had an unpleasant visit first and last time , the food was horrible and for the price I'm very dissatisfied it's overpriced for bad quality food they did make fresh tortillas chips for the table but when I say that was the only thing that was decent... I wish I were lying the rice and beans had a bad taste and the rice was dry I gave my food away to my family who also agreed the food was nasty the salsa is watered down the meats carne asada , ground beef, and chicken was so bad I've honestly never been this dissatisfied in a "tex mex" restaurant not to mention the waiter was ignoring our table I actually felt the staff was prejudice to my family highly recommend going anywhere else chipotle and qudoba makes this place look like a five star in comparison awful food also very expensive for the quality. read more

Great restaurant great staff food was amazing carne Sada steak was the best thing and the pineapple pico was good also the bacon wrapped shrimp were good overall uncle Julio's is a good restaurant would definitely recommend this place to anyone read more

This place is fine. Massive margharita list, and extenisve fajita options. If you want anything else though, your options are very limited. Don't go expecting the enormously varied menu typical of even chain mexican restaurants - it's not a place for tacos, enchiladas, burritos, chile rellenos etc. By the same token, it's rather overpriced for mexican fare. It is not expensive relative to restaurants in general, but when you can get better mexican food at numerous places in the area for half the price, why would you go here? If you want a margharita and fajitas you'll do just fine, but otherwise look elsewhere. read more

The restaurant looks pretty cool, but the food just isn't anything special. The salsa that came with the chips is unlike any I've had before. Not visually appealing but was OK..it was brown and watery. I ordered the lunch pulled chicken Quesadillas which were very small and bland, but the guacamole that came with it was good. Finally, the payment process which is a hand held card reader was confusing and a germ spreader. No thanks. I won't be back. read more

Home made Mexican food, fresh made tortillas and chocolate piñata make Uncle Julio's a must.

We went to celebrate a friend's birthday this past weekend and the food was alright. The chips and salsa were delicious. I will say that they can stand to do a little better on drinks. Some with our party said that Lafuente drinks were much better. A bit pricey but hey, it's Brookfield and comparable to surrounding restaurants pricing. I ordered the Guadalajara; the shrimp was good but the bacon that they were wrapped in was a bit under cooked. Beans were a tad bit salty as well. Pork comes in standard beans so ask for vegetarian beans for no pork. As with any new restaurant opening I'm sure there will be improvements or enhancements made. I won't count them out as they do add a new offering of Mexican food in the area. read more

Uncle Julio's Brookfield - Mexican Near Me - Brookfield, Wisconsin

I love Mexican food and was excited to try this place. The service was good and the food was average. The chips were thin and crispy. Seemed a little greasy. The flavors were ok, I've had better. I was disappointed in the amount of food plated for the price. Side portions of rice and beans was small. I might try this place again, not sure at this point. read more

Review of Uncle Julio's Mexican Restaurant Yesterday my wife Richette and I had the joy of experiencing Uncle Julio's restaurant (245 South Moorland Rd, Brookfield, WI 53005) prior to the Grand Opening on Tuesday December 18th. You can begin making reservations online On the Open Table app or on the Uncle Julio's website (https://www.unclejulios.com/) and by calling the restaurant directly at 262-307-2700. We got the invitation to sample the service during the last day of their two-week training period and this review is an account of our experience. As you may be aware, I am a huge Foodie, and I can tell you this experience is among the top restaurant experiences for me. The Restaurant Décor and Ambiance: Both Richette and I noticed the décor as uplifting and bright. The brick and wood is creatively laid out to create a elegant accent to the walls, ceiling and even chairs that use wood as backers. We sat at a high-top table in the bar area, are we very pleased with the comfort of the seating and the elegance of the décor. We both commented on the music which was properly set as to not impede conversations but still allow the customers mood to be influenced by the rhythmic salsa, bachata, and merengue selections that were played. At one point I thought I was going to have to get up and start dancing.... Richette however asked me not to. When we sat down, we were greeted by our server who asked for our drink orders, he recommended one of the signature margarita drinks called El Jefe. It was a hot pepper infused libation with a soft yet tasty amount of spice that worked into a real palate pleaser for those who like the taste (not necessarily the heat) of hot peppers. We also were served tortilla chips and salsa. The tortilla chips (ask we came to learn) are hand made hourly and thin crispy and warm when they arrived at the table. The mild salsa had hints of grilled veggies and a spice taste that was alerting to the senses but not with heat. The flavor spoke to the tongue in a wonderful way. I enjoy spicy food, so I asked if they had a spicy salsa, and I was given the hot salsa.... which in my estimation is the BEST salsa I have ever had. With a bold habanero taste and not an overpowering heat, which I derived from grilled veggies, and the pepper being seeded prior to grilling and being pureed. The taste was exquisite. I found myself tacking large amounts of salsa on the crisp tortillas which allowed the taste of the sale to shine without the being overpowered by the tortilla chip. We had barley finished our guacamole and our meal arrived. My wife had ordered the chicken enchiladas and I ordered the signature steak and chicken fajitas. My wife tasted the enchiladas and found them to be a little to spicy for her liking, the server asked if he could replace it with a milder version of a Mexican chilly which as they said they server to kids, to which Richette was pleased to try. When they came out, she was pleasantly surprised to find it was a more appropriate heat for her liking. My fajitas were perfect. The steak was seasoned well and was not overcooked (I asked for medium rare), and the chicken was notably moist to the point of fork tender. I inquired how they were prepared, and I was informed the chicken is marinated for 14 hours. Which explained the delicacy of the chicken along with the seared edges which held in the moisture. One thing about my fajitas that surprised me is that there was not too much "filler" there were the right amount of onions and peppers to meat ratio, so that when I was done eating, I was full, and did not have a bunch of filler left on the plate. As we were finishing our meal and asking for a box to package the left overs, we were informed that we would be receiving a surprise...(I told you they treated us like royalty).....And before to long we got introduced to Uncle Julio's Chocolate Piñata. IT WAS ENORMOUS. This dessert was ginormous. Describing it will do it no justice...but here goes. This dangling chocolate ball about 10" in diameter came to our table, and Richette was presented with the (what looked like a small baseball bat) baton in order to break the piñata open. As a conclusion, Uncle Julio was by far the best tasting Mexican Food my wife and I have had in many years. With its TexMex derived flavors, and the southern Texas hospitality which I enjoyed thoroughly we will definitely tell everyone THIS IS A PLACE to try. I personally can't wait till summer to try the patio seating and order some margaritas, chips and hot salsa, along with a piñata to celebrate life and the ability to enjoy this delicacy. Oh and don't forget to become a member of the Loyalty program. Uncle Julio's may not do the coupon thing... but you will get birthday certificates, and points for every dollar spent. if you go there look for me.... I will be the guy asking for more salsa and chips..... read more

I just need to clear the air. This place ain't cheap. Yet it earned a whopping 5 stars in my book. This is Tex Mex food and to me, that is music to my ears because I don't know where else to get it outside of TX. The whole atmosphere of Uncle Julio's is upscale and fancy. It is impeccably clean, vibrant and exciting. I highly recommend the fajitas, because that is the signature item in my humble opinion. The beef and chicken combination is our favorite. The meat is out of this world and every last morsel is grilled and moist. There isn't the greasy overly spiced concoction that is pretty common in other Mexican restaurants around town. Uncle Julio's showcases that quality meats and top notch cooking method. Also, make sure to get the flour tortillas. They are actually rolling out fresh tortillas in a window display area in the middle of the dining room. If you have never had freshly made flour tortillas then here is your chance. Fresh tortillas will blow your mind. In addition, the chile con queso is sooooo Tex Mex. Is it an unnatural shade of orangish yellow? Perhaps! But who cares, it's totally authentic Tex Mex queso and totally awesome! I love the house salsa, it has char roasted peppers and is served warm. And don't worry it's not too spicy. You can reserve your table from the restaurant website and I highly recommend that you do that, as it is usually packed. Finally, if you are into frozen margaritas, they got 'em! read more

Awesome family meal deal! It was packaged so nicely that allowed us to store the leftovers and get two meals out of all of the food! So tasty! read more

I have no idea how this place has such great reviews. I was excited to finally get a chance to go and was super disappointed! 1) The salsa is soooo bland! 2) The variety on the menu is minimal. I like some good combo dinners when I eat mexican and there are minimal choices. Which would have been okay if the food was great, but it was more bland food that was probably even shy of just okay. 3) The worst part is that the drinks are super expensive. There is not a margarita for less than $10?!? The only saving grace was that the service was really good. I wish I could have said the same about the food. read more

My thoughts about Uncle julio's Place I give it three stars for the food, liked it a lot!! As far as the Drinks the taste not good and the price way to expensive for my Money! read more

Blame bland bland. Nothing had any flavor. Food was not as hot as it should have been. Fajitas were mostly onions with a few strips of peppers. Very few peppers. Very expensive for what you get. Sopapillas tasted like old oil and were served Luke warm. Not one thing had any " zip". The drinks were tasty. Do yourself a favor and go to an authentic Mexican restaurant. read more

The food and drinks are top notch. A little pricey, but we knew that going in and looked forward to a nice experience. The experience is where I remove the stars. As stated- food/drinks are excellent - however if you are looking for a nice relaxing experience enjoying your pricey fare, prepare to be disappointed. This restaurant is in the business of fast turning tables. It's more a fast food experience then a dining experience. From the time we arrived we were rushed. Rushed at the bar, sat down and rushed to order, our food came out literally 3 minutes after ordering (great if your hungry I guess) and food taken off our table before officially deciding we were done. Our server never offered drinks or even water. Just wanted our order and to get us out of there. I think we were at our table for less then 20 minutes. Disappointing- I'm sure this wouldn't bother some, but it bothered us on a date night we'd been looking forward to all week. read more

I took my husband to the restaurant for his birthday. We had an excellent waiter named Shawn, he was very professional and helpful. The drinks and food were great. When Shawn found out it was my husband's birthday he brought over a plate of fried ice cream. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would suggest you make a reservation as the wait could be up to an hour or more if you just walk in. read more

In one word: "meh"... made from scratch Mexican food got us excited - but our high expectations were not met. First of all the salsa was pretty good. But the paper thin chips make it difficult to dip. Then we had the steak and chicken fajitas. Portion size not overwhelming. The chicken was good but the steak pretty tough. Flavors OK but not memorable. We asked for hot sauce, expecting some homemade special sauce - but received a bottle of Cholula red. The service was poor, no drink refills and the waitress was nowhere to be found when needed. Right now I can't think of a reason to go back. read more

My only complaint are the prices. Food and margs were decent, but not the best I've ever had. The chips were greasy. We had 2 adults and 1 young child and the cost was just over $100. This is probably one of the most expensive Mexican restaurants in the area, if not THE most expensive. Service was good and staff was very friendly. read more

Went last weekend, heard a lot about how good it was, not really authentic Mexican food, you need to go to Walker's Point for that, it was ok and overpriced, we had the 6 piece shrimp which were dry and look nothing like the pictures of them and shrimp tacos which were overcooked and dry, margaritas are pricey and not much tequila in them. Nothing special for all the hype you hear, I know I'll probably get a generic apology as all managers comments are the same, probably won't go back. read more

We came here for lunch on a weekday and waited for about four minutes before the (3) staff at the welcome station acknowledged us. Admittedly it was a busy lunch rush, one was on the phone, and two were talking to each other about seating situations or whatever, but we nearly walked out based on that alone. Once we were seated, we were accommodated by a great waitress who took care of us, but the initial impression of being pointedly ignored kind of soured us right off the bat. We frequented an Uncle Julio's in the Fairfax, Virginia area and had always had wonderful experiences there, so we wanted to give this one a try. The restaurant itself is well laid out and spacious, well-decorated and pleasant. I had the softshelled tacos as I remembered them being tasty, and they were pretty decent though my spicy-seeking palate was left wanting by these. That was to be expected as they aren't billed as anything spicy. The meat was good and the toppings were tasty but it wasn't a complicated dish by any means. The queso was pretty good as I recalled from our previous experience at an Uncle Julio's, but a bit expensive for what you get. I think that was what we walked away from our Uncle Julio's dining experience this time: A bit pricey for an unexciting meal. We are fond of the Casa Tequila a few miles down Bluemound off of Kossow Road, where you perhaps sacrifice a bit of ambience for a better meal with better prices. Not sure we will be back to Julio's when better Mexican food is down the road. read more

I took my wife to this restaurant for her bday. This restaurant is not what it's hyped to be. The choices are limited and taste is below par and there are a lot of other Mexican restaurants around this area that are way better and way cheaper than this. Their chips are too greasy and salsa is just one variety, just smoky green salsa. They have no other options. Same with food, their best fajitas just ok with not a lot of flavor. Their margaritas are pretty much with no alcohol nor any taste, just sweet and with a lot of Ice. Their chocolate piñata is $25 for a big chocolate filled with fruit that is not even that good and pineapple is hard and can't even bite in to it. Lastly, prices are lot more than other places for the so so tasting food. All in all, My family is underwhelmed with this and I personally feel that once the hype dies this restaurant won't be something to remember. read more

Eh, it was ok. The place is beautiful and the staff was very attentive, but that's where the good ends. I found it to be wildly overpriced and the food itself was just okay. Not really authentic Mexican, more of a texmex sort of thing. To be clear, I don't think it was bad by any stretch, but $65 for lunch for two people? No thanks. read more

Loved it! The carnitas tacos were so good along w the chocolate piñatas! The margaritas were really tasty and so are their chips!

No bueno....way over priced food and drinks. 11.99 for a "margarita" but more like a glass of ice no booze. Had to ask for water and chips. Tried to like the place but wont be back. read more
