We went out for a birthday party the other night, service was less than stellar. Took 20 minutes from dropping off drinks to coming back to see if we wanted anything. We had to specifically ask for our water to be refilled, only two people got tortillas, and the waiter was never around long enough to ask for assistance. I'd think maybe he was over worked, or over stressed, but by the time we were fully into it, we were one of the only parties left in the restaurant. My advice, head across the hall to the Cheesecake Factory. The service may be slow, but they seem to care.

We had a reservation and arrived a bit early. I think they were understaffed for the day though because it seemed like there were a few reservations but all waiting to be seated. This was fine but it did seem a little slow due to that fact. Our server said it was their first day haha so we weren't expecting much, but even though they had a bit of a rough start they did great overall--pretty attentive all things considering. I'd say the portions are pretty generous, and you can share a platter. The chips are light and crispy while the salsa has a unique robust flavor to it--maybe roasted peppers? Our kids really enjoyed it. They offer kids meals, but our kids actually ate more of our dishes than their own! My husband ordered shrimp fajitas, and the shrimp were flavored pretty well, but we just thought they'd be bigger. I shared a chicken and steak fajita with my mom, and the chicken was really tender--I was surprised. The skirt steak was pretty good too; our kids really liked the meats. I'd say the food is fine, but definitely feels more Mexican American. If you want to go somewhere for a nice get together but not fancy, then this is a great option. The main draw though is probably the chocolate piñata! This was a super fun and unique experience. Our server was so nice and gave our 2 kids their own little bat. Everything seems made from dark chocolate too or something less sweet than milk chocolate, which I appreciated! It's this chocolate ball that's hung, and inside is fresh fruit and churro. The board had cinnamon, dipping chocolate, and whipped cream. You crack open the chocolate piñata and then the fruit and churro bites spill out and you dig into it! So much fun. I would honestly come here just for this dessert.

I've been visiting various uncle Julio's locations all across the Chicagoland area for over 25 years and this is my first visit to the Schaumburg location. Came on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and also got enticed by an online coupon for $20 off as well. I haven't been back to an uncle Julio's in a while only to find out on this visit that the menu has drastically been overhaul and simplified. And I don't think it's been simplified for the better quite frankly because my usual menu item the Jalisco is no longer available. The drink menu continues to be a staple, and it is very vast. The good part is that the portions remain almost the same, which is very generous, considering that the prices are also higher. Also good that the chips and salsa continues to be unlimited as well. On this particular day and visit, our waiter was so incredibly friendly and fantastic !!! I would definitely come back here again not because I know the food or because it's consistent but for some reason the service this particular Sunday was on point !!!

This was my first time at any Uncle Julios and I was very impressed. We received a warm greeting by who I believe is the manager, and seated promptly in a booth as preferred. Our waiter was friendly and attentive which we also appreciated. As for the food, all three of thought our food was great! For me I enjoy a simple beef tacos, which can be difficult to find as most places offer chicken and steak (but not ground beef). The flavor was outstanding! My daughter enjoyed her quesadilla and my wife her enchiladas. Wonderful experience and I can't wait to visit this or another Uncle Julios location.

Piñata with churros and strawberries-- it was very good!!!

This place I would recommend! It's very well maintained and the food is amazing! The service was great as well! They are very positive and kind! This place was really pleasant to eat at. Scenery was pretty! I recommend! It's just I'm not quite sure about the restrooms, floor is strangely sticky, but overall it was amazing here!

Perhaps because it is located inside a shopping mall, its prices are higher than those of nearby Mexican restaurants; however, the culinary experience it offered me was actually inferior to that of the other Mexican restaurants.

Uncle Julio's was a pleasant surprise tonight! We stopped in after hitting up Woodfield mall. We sat at the bar since it was empty. The decor is trendy and the music volume was soft so we could talk without yelling! The bartender took our orders immediately and checked up on us numerous times throughout the night. I got the chicken fajitas and my wife got the cassbiria. The fajitas were juicy and seasoned very tastefully. The chips and salsa were excellent and even the spicy one wasn't very hot. My wife liked her cassebiria but said it was slightly dry. It does come with broth though. Overall, we really enjoyed Uncle Julio's. Good service, good pricing, and good atmosphere. Oh, the meals will fill you up. You can easily split them! Definitely check them out

My wife and I have been going to this restaurant for a few years have not been disappointed . Our service /bartender has been awesome great service very professional and friendly. Makes a mean margarita so if you can't get a table go in and sit at the bar, especially at happy hour 3 to 6 pm the hole drink menu is half price and the Guadalajar for two is the way to go kudos to Barbara and her crew keep up the good work will return

I loved that they had an open kitchen to connect the guests with the food. Upon arrival, there were three girls at the host stand and not one looked like they were enjoying life. They unenthusiastically showed us to our high top before returning to their post. Every table gets complimentary chips and salsa which had a nice smokey flavor. Some of the chips were a tad greasy but not bad. We started with the Fat Rosie's Queso Dip with Beef added. I thought it was odd that the dish came out as the queso only and they assumed we should use our same chip basket from the salsa. Either way, the dip had really good flavor! For entree, we shared the Burrito with Ground Beef. I liked that this came with rice and beans on the side. The inside ingredients were sadly layered so one never got a bite with everything at once. The meat was scarce and my half of burrito was mostly shell at the end. The saddest part of our experience was the service. Our waitress never stopped by to ask how our meal was, we had to ask for a water refill as my cup sat empty for at least 10 minutes, and were never offered a chip refill especially since we were eating the salsa and queso. This overall was a miss for my husband and I. We left feeling passed over the whole time and like they just wanted to turn the table over.

I was torn between a chicken mole dinner or just good old tacos. I opted for the tacos Al pastor with rice and beans. I have had Al pastor at many, many places, and it's been interesting to see people's takes on the recipes. These were, hands down, the best I've had anywhere. The meat was charred nicely, yet tender. The marinade/sauce had the perfect balance between the sweetness of the pineapple and the counterbalance of the lime, cilantro, and onion. I was so proud of my selection, that I ordered some to-go for my daughter to try. I also had a delicious strawberry margarita and finished off with a tres leches dessert. Everything was superb! I'll be back for that mole someday, and will also try their Taco Tuesday. Okay, onto the specifics, I started with a burrito de asada, and seriously, it was perfect. It was put together so nicely, packed full, and they even included rice inside, which was a delicious surprise. Super satisfying and felt like great value for the price. Then I branched out and tried a couple of their gorditas one with steak and another with chorizo. Again, both meats were incredibly tasty and really well prepared. Now, a little heads up, their gorditas are a bit unique. Instead of the usual pouch you stuff, they cut the entire top off, so it's more like an open faced sandwich. It was different, but honestly, it was still super delicious and easy to eat. We also shared a taco dinner, and those were fantastic too. The prices overall are really reasonable, especially for the quality you're getting. Oh, and you absolutely must try their horchata, it's seriously good and so refreshing. The place itself is pretty chill. They have a TV on, and it was generally quiet, which is nice for a relaxed meal. It's not a huge spot, with a few tables and booths, but what really caught my eye was how many people were coming in for takeout orders. That's always a good sign that it's a popular local favorite. Honestly, if you're ever looking for a top notch taco shop nearby, this one is probably one of the best I've encountered. You definitely won't be disappointed.

So, one fine day I was picking up some dry cleaning down Roselle, and as I turned onto Schaumburg Rd to head home, I saw this place- remembered I was hungry- and promptly turned in! I got there just before 5pm, and was - by all accounts - their first customer of the night! I asked to sit on the patio, and (because I had to ask) checked to see if the patio was dog-friendly - it is! Hmm. Gotta bring puppy next time! The young lady sat me down, brought over a drinks menu and a food menu, and I promptly ordered a Cadillac Cocktail! Oh my! It was BIG- and GOOD. Damn! Highly recommended! A bowl of warm chips and salsa came right on it - on the house- and I began munching away while I pondered the menu. So - I decided on the Enchiladas Suizas with verde sauce! Oh - and with a choice of meat (I chose ground beef, but pollo was also on the board too!). As I was slowly drinking the Cadillac and munching on the chips, I gotta say I liked the THICK chips and the salsa had a nice little kick to it. If that's what you like? You'll LIKE it! My enchiladas suizas came out piping hot a short time later, and I began munchin' 'em down! VERY nice! If you like friendly, prompt service AND good food and drink? HIGHLY recommend you stop on it!

So, I stopped in during the week, just after lunch time and found this little hole-in-the wall of a restaurant conveniently nestled in a shopping center next to the local Walmart. Even though I walked in and the restaurant was completely empty, the pure vibrancy of the decor and the cheerfulness of the staff encouraged me to stay. Not to mention that the aroma making its way out from the kitchen was absolutely mouth-watering. I took a seat at the bar while I perused the menu and was delighted in the simplicity of it. You know the food is about to be fire when the menu is simple and a restaurant focuses on what it does well. In addition to the excellent service, the food was absolutely phenomenal. I started off with some chips and salsa.... which was delightfully flavorful and perfectly crisp. Then, I had a bowl of the tortilla soup. Each spoonful was like deja vu. Each bite made me feel like I was in my grandmother's kitchen as a little girl all over again. The broth was perfectly seasoned and each bite came with a chunk of chicken and an assortment of veggies... truly perfecto! Once I was done with the appetizers, I made my decision to try two tacos from the menu. The first was a salmon taco--and it didn't TASTE FISHY. It was grilled to perfection and then paired with an unexpected yet delicious topping of crispy potato strings and chipotle aioli. I ate every bite of this. It was the perfect combination of crunch and flavor, I just couldn't get enough. Then I also ordered the carne asada a cabron taco. Simple, yet dynamically flavorful. I was so full at this point but took this one home to eat at a later time. Still as amazing as the day I ordered it i'm sure. While I neglected to have any desserts or margaritas here, I was assured that they are just as remarkable as anything else. I had a wonderful meal, excellent service and I greatly look forward to going back if i'm ever in the area again for work. 10/10 Highly recommend!!
