Curry Chicken
Rick R.

Marco Pollo is new to the food truck scene this year. It's owned by a school teacher, who also creates the recipes, cooks and runs the truck with help from a couple of his students as a summer gig. Concept seems simple enough. Cut chicken breast into cubes, bread and deep fry or serve grilled if requested, then put over a bed of jasmine rice and top with a sauce made to represent a ethnic flavor, all options are $7 each, unless you get The Naked option which is just chicken with ranch or BBQ sauce and no rice for $6. I've had the Little Tokyo featuring a ponzu and katsu sauce with pickled veggies, Marcosito's Plato featuring homemade queso, tomatillo, and avocado salsa, and the recent Curry special ($6). The chicken was crispy every time. The homemade sauces were flavorful every time. The rice had a consistent slightly sticky texture every time. Consistency seems to be the name of the game with these guys and I'm good with that as long as it's consistently good. Other options include The Buffalo (guess what flavor that is), Siam I Am (Thai of course), and The Big Easy, a creole sauce with shrimp. The Big Easy is next on my list to try. It's difficult for me to give 5 stars for something that seems easy, but the sauces are homemade and have great flavors and the chicken is perfectly cooked crispy on the outside, with tender white meat inside...every time. I don't think that is easy to do on a food truck, considering there are several brick and mortar restaurants that can't do it. Give them a try.

I'll start with some advice. Hunt this truck down and get in line, because it's that good. My wife had the Buddha chicken and i had the Khula Chicken. The chicken was all white meat, very moist, fresh with no fatty parts. The jasmine rice was a good addition cooked to perfection. I usually don't like breaded chicken as it tends to just add useless bulk, but in this case the breading alone can be a meal. I'll have to say, spending time in NY, San Fran and Chicago I've been a bit spoiled with food trucks, that have innovative creations. There have been rare times I've seen them in Milwaukee, so to come across one not just selling hot dogs, brats or beer is a pleasant surprise. Portion was a fair amount for $7. I'm pretty sure there was a whole chicken breast, at least the good part, in easy helping. I still think the truck should be named Los Pollos Hermanos, would totally live up to it.

Got the Marcocito at the zoo and absolutely loved it. I would have ate an entire platter of that jasmine rice covered in the sauces from the chicken. Favorite thing at the zoo nights and happy to have finally tried you guys!

I just had a Religious experience, this food is fantastic. The pork sliders are out of this world. If you see these guys in your neck of the woods don't hesitate to try the food! You won't regret it. My favorite food truck hands down.

I tried the Buddha chicken and this food truck for the first time today. I loved every single bite! The chicken was amazing! The breading was perfect and the chicken was so juicy. The sesame sauce was just the perfect amount of flavor. I will definitely be following them around town for more.

The food was delicious! The menu in both American Chinese and authentic Taiwanese. Definitely worth the visit.

We had dinner here Christmas Eve, we made the reservation before reading the terrible Yelp reviews,…read moreso honestly we walked in with low expectations. We had a gift card so we figured now was a good a time as any to try it out. Our drinks & dinner were very good, as was the service, I had the steak fajitas and my table mates each had steak and shrimp combo. Their (complimentary) chips are excellent, fresh out of the fryer & delicious. Honestly everything about our meal was solid and we will gladly return. Not quite sure if we hit this place on a good night or if they've done a major shake up in response to the recent poor reviews, but either way I'm glad to give these guys a 5 out of 5 rating.

I would put 0 stars if I could. The service was ok at best. It took a while for drinks to come out…read more One of us couldnt get a frozen marg as the bartender didnt know how to work the blender. The food was not very good. Maybe some of the worst restaurant food I have ever had. The rice is very overcooked and hard. The salsa has no flavor. The beans taste like canned baked beans. The waitress mixed up 3 peoples orders and couldnt tell which tacos are which. The food was all bitter and no real flavor profile. One of our margs had a moldy raspberry as a garnish. The cups were super dirty and the table waters had stuff floating in them. The prices are very high for very below average food. The ambiance was ok. Weird that there was 3 people in this big restaurant during the dinner rush, not surprised after eating it. We got charged for everything we ordered even though we didnt get 2 margs and got served moldy and dirty food. Only the chips and the guac were around ok. Would not recommend.

Great service, but food? Eh…read more Service was overall great. Our waiter Patrick was very attentive and was full of smiles. The vibe is low warm light and cute. There is lots of seating as well. The main downside to my experience was the food. I ordered the quesa-birria tacos which were actually great as an appetizer, but my main dish was just sad. I ordered the enchilada combo, one chicken and one beef. The tortillas were stiff, and there was barely any salsa on them. The chicken enchilada was covered with an overwhelming amount of lime, the rice was flavorless and the beans were watery. I hesitate to call this place clean because my water cup had crusted gunk on it, which makes me believe they don't wash their dishes too well.

07/15/24 - This is the first time I've been to an Uncle Julio's. I've heard very mixed reviews on…read morethe food. The breakdown on the food I ate. The chips were ok, but I enjoyed both of the salsas. They were both good. The red one was very garlicky I really enjoyed this and kept munching on it. The other salsa had more of a smoky chipotle type flavoring this was also very good. For my main course I ordered 2 steak tacos w/beans & rice. The steak tacos were ok but nothing extraordinary. The beans was more of a bean soup than beans. The seasoning was very good. The rice was nothing special. Our server Diana was nothing short of remarkable. When I think of stellar service I think of someone like Diana. She was spot on in every aspect. From the time we got there she was there to take our drink orders & to see if we wanted to get appetizers prior to ordering our main courses. She was always checking back to see if we needed anything. THANK YOU DIANA FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE.
