    Bland tortilla soup
    Moises C.

I was visiting Milwaukee and I was looking forward tk some good food. I made the decision to go to this restaurant and boy was that the wrong decision. The service was ok, and the ambiance was too dark and a little weird. But speaking about the food it was a very bad experience. Starting with the salsa, there was not much flavor, I asked for something spicy and they brought the same salsa. I got the quesa birria, and my co worker got the barbacoa tacos. It was very disappointing that they both had the exact same meat when they were clearly different dishes. However the consome with my dish was so salty that it was inedible. I then took a bite of the quesadilla and it was also inedible. My co worker took a bite of her Taco was also stated that it was so salty it was inedible. By far the worst dish of food I have ever had at any restaurants in over 20 different states. I would not recommend this place at all. It is sad that the customer is the last taste taster, because I am sure that no one tried the console before I got to our table. Very disappointing

We had a wonderful afternoon visit at Uncle Julio's. We arrived in time for the happy hour special -- only available at the bar -- and enjoyed margaritas. We then split the tortilla soup and chicken fajitas. The soup had a phenomenal flavor and was just the right amount of spicy. The fajitas are my go to at Mexican restaurants and the ones here do not disappoint. Well cooked and great taste!

We picked this place for cinco de mayo because you could make a reservation. The place was very busy when we got there. I ordered a regular margarita and my sister got a Paloma. The drinks took a while but you could see they were busy. We really liked the salsa that came with chips. I think it was a black bean salsa. My sister's steak quesadilla was delicious. I got their special that was a different take on chile rellenos, chile puebra. They were deep fried. They were decent but incredibly hot when first buying into it. I wouldn't make this my go to Mexican restaurant but if needing to accommodate a group of heading to a suburb, I'd go back.

The ambience of the restaurant was really nice on the outside as well as the inside. Our waitress was very friendly however we had to keep reminding her to bring certain items for example water and our rice/beans with the meal. When it comes to our meals, it was not all that great. The flavor was not there. The rice was hard and crunchy. The queso cheese was not good at all. Overall this is not a restaurant that I would visit again.

Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch with my friends. Our waitress was lovely and provided great service! We ordered some non-alcoholic watermelon margaritas and they were delicious! The table-side guac was fresh and tasty but the chips were a bit too thin and kept breaking in the bowl. We ordered a variety of main dishes. I really liked my shrimp fajitas, but the rice and beans were only ok. Prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming.

Enjoy going here for the tacos and loved the decorations and the steak! Sometimes the wait times can be long and also take a bit to get food but the food is always delicious.

My how this restaurant location has changed. The quality of food and service has declined. I made reservations for nine to celebrate my sister's birthday this past Friday and upon arrival things were going well. We started with drinks and appetizers. When we started to place our entree orders I explicitly expressed to our waitress that my visually impaired mom could not have onions, green peppers, etc., on her food steak tacos. I ordered steak tacos for her with just meat, cheese and tomatoes. When her food arrived, There was tons of picco on her tacos. One of the managers, the African-American young lady who was assisting bringing out our meals, said no problem, took the entrée back and I thought it was odd how quickly they returned with the items. I'm convinced they took it in back and simply thought they had removed all of the pico, but clearly had not. It was lazy and insulting! My mom took a bite and said there were onions in there. I took a look and didn't see any. She took something out of her mouth and showed it to me. I took it from her hand low and behold there were chopped onions! I got a hold of our waitress showed it to her and she offered to make something else and suggested that we choose something that didn't have ground beef. I said it wasn't ground beef. It was steak and I said now she doesn't trust your food so my mom opted to not replace her meal. I'm thankful my mother did not suffer an allergic reaction due to this careless act by your staff. Although the waitress said she was going to speak to her manager, no one ever came in to address the concern. Fast forward. Another member of our party had ordered a drink with his entree. After ten minutes of having received his meal, I went to the bar because I was going to order and bring the drink back to our table (assuming the waitress had forgotten to place the drink order) when I got to the bar there was a very semi-melted sangria swirl sitting at the bar. The young lady at the bar apologized when I told her that I believed that was for our party. I was trying to carry it back our table when our waitress appeared and assisted by taking it from my hand as it was spilling . She was apologetic. The fact that the restaurant did not appear to be packed and we were the only ones in the room we were placed in made me feel as though we kept being forgotten about. The food quality and taste was not what I remembered from Uncle Julio's. I used to love this restaurant. However, this experience as a whole left a bad taste in my mouth! I chose to not address my displeasure in that moment as to not further take away from my sister's evening. At this rate, I wish I had taken suggestions and gone to habaneros...well, maybe not there but somewhere else for sure. Very disappointed

We went here Saturday for lunch. Had the chicken fajitas. Also had the chicken quesadilla. Very good.

Nice looking restaurant, BUT you'd better bring alot of money . Food was mediocre and quite pricey. Biggest thing was price of the drinks. outrageous prices. Double Bacardi and diet coke was $17.50 . I will never go back. Alot of better Mexican restaurants around with better food and prices.

    Carne Asada

I came in a group and I ordered the carne asada, which was absolutely just fat and could not be chewed or swallowed. I wondered if it was just me but I had two other people try it and they agreed. I'm confused because other members of my group also had ordered the carne asada and only 1 of the 3 turned out good. I'm deeply dissatisfied with the quality of food the we were served.

Had an amazing meal here and very good service, definitely will come back. Kyle did table side guacamole, and it was out of this world.

Food is overpriced, service is terrible, management is somehow worse. You'd be better off going to Taco Bell.

There is lots of seating as well. The main downside to my experience was the food. I ordered the quesa-birria tacos which were actually great as an appetizer, but my main dish was just sad. I ordered the enchilada combo, one chicken and one beef. The tortillas were stiff, and there was barely any salsa on them. The chicken enchilada was covered with an overwhelming amount of lime, the rice was flavorless and the beans were watery. I hesitate to call this place clean because my water cup had crusted gunk on it, which makes me believe they don't wash their dishes too well.

The chips were ok, but I enjoyed both of the salsas. They were both good. The red one was very garlicky I really enjoyed this and kept munching on it. The other salsa had more of a smoky chipotle type flavoring this was also very good. For my main course I ordered 2 steak tacos w/beans & rice. The steak tacos were ok but nothing extraordinary. The beans was more of a bean soup than beans. The seasoning was very good. The rice was nothing special. Our server Diana was nothing short of remarkable. When I think of stellar service I think of someone like Diana. She was spot on in every aspect. From the time we got there she was there to take our drink orders & to see if we wanted to get appetizers prior to ordering our main courses. She was always checking back to see if we needed anything. THANK YOU DIANA FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE.

Our past experience has always been good (food and beverage) but this time we noticed it's gone down in quality/freshness and affordability. We ordered margaritas and queso to start, and also put in our meal order. While we waited, chips and salsa were brought to us. The chips were from the bottom of the barrel--just bits and pieces. Their salsa was bland. Next they brought queso, but not our drinks. The queso tasted like melted velveeta with some rotel mixed in. Then the meal arrived. I asked the server where in the world our drinks were?! Oh, sorry, he said, and left to find out. They finally arrived. I ordered the Tex-Mex combo with 2 enchiladas and ground beef taco. The cheese enchilada with a rojo sauce was decent, the chx one with verde sauce was so-so. The tortillas looked odd. Almost slightly undercooked. My taco was in a crunchy taco shell that looked like it came out of a box. Naturally, it fell apart the minute I took a bite. Beans and rice were included but were nothing special. My son ordered the chicken and steak fajita combo. It cost $25 but came out on a 6 inch plate, which included the onions & peppers! The meat portion was laughable. Again, the meal was just passable. Lastly, my husband ordered the chile con carne enchiladas. He said they were good, but didn't elaborate. Honestly, this place is on par with On The Border, but with higher prices. We probably won't eat here again. There are better Mexican restaurants closer to home.
