The food was ok (the guacamole was store like) and the service was prompt. The ambience was nice. However, their floors were full of trash. We sat in a booth that had chips and used napkins on the floor. Looking at the process for turning around their tables, cleaning the floors and seats didn't seem to be a part of their routine. This is a manager oversight/training gap. read more

Wow! I had read the reviews before going and couldn't believe it could be that bad. I mean the place is packed daily. I should have listened. First, surprised not a lot of options on the menu. So went with the cheese and onion enchiladas...again not a lot of options so had no choice. The dish came with a quarter cup of beans and crispy rice or was it burned? The chips and salsa were good and should have stuck with that and just had another Patron Skinny margarita and called it a night. Will not go back. Uncle Julio's got nothin on any Mexican restaurant on the south side. Save your time and money and head south. read more

Went on a busy Thursday night. Wait was 1 hour so we snagged seats at the bar. Bartender was friendly, but couldn't get it in her head that we did NOT want a lime with our beer. Said glasses were warm, so served from bottle. Wedge of lime came stuck inside bottle even though we didn't ask for one. Wedge was too large to push inside bottle even if we did want it. Food was meh. Two beef enchiladas covered in what looked like nacho cheese sauce and a side of beans and rice. Two cheese enchiladas covered in a spicy red sauce with beans and rice. Beans were in a cup and runny. Chips were greasy. Bartender said it's because they were so busy they didn't have time to let the chips "dry." Yet other reviews said same thing about greasy chips. Only one type of salsa, which had a smokey flavor. Second round of beers we said NO lime. Both came with limes :( One and done, sorry Uncle Julio. read more

Horrible customer service. Told wait was 35 minutes waited 45 then told I was the next they proceeded to seat 4 tables in front of us. Will never be back read more

Not impressed. The drinks were good, but food was mediocre. I ordered the tuna tacos and the presentation was sloppy for a $17 dish and also lacked flavor. I feel like I can go to Bel Air and get the same thing for half the price. I work in the industry so my expectations may be higher but either way, it wasn't the greatest. read more

Tried to make a reservation for 15 here. When I called I was told we would be at two tables which is completely fine. Then I was told that they'll try to "keep us together." When I asked what they meant by that they told me they need to make sure the servers have enough room and it depends on how busy they are so they'll try to keep our tables by each other. I suggest this place get their act together because if they can't even accommodate a reservation making sure we're all sitting together it makes me question everything else going on at that business. Needless to say my family is not going to dinner with the risk of sitting at opposite ends of the restaurant. read more

Gorgeous on the outside, good ambience on the inside. Looks like it had a nice patio area. Large bar area, only two TV's though so not the best for watching sports. Visited here on a business trip, food was pretty good, the frozen margaritas were great, maybe a little over priced, but reasonable. The bartender, Buerto, definitely made my experience and I would go back just because of his hospitality. The other bartender, (didn't catch her name) was also pleasant and attentive. Overall, I enjoyed feeling welcome here while away from home. read more

Awful experience for the third time. Ultimately the server made me feel dumb af when they brought back the menu to re read it to me. First of all i didn't write it, it is not my fault i misunderstood. it is the servers job is to explain it, so when i order and substitute any items it's a good idea to make sure we are on the same page so i know what to expect on my plate. Especially when you know you have food runners and someone else delivers it. +++ second of all wtf decided it was a Good idea to have servers correct their customers reading perspective?!. The manager should come and correct their customers. I feel bad for all servers bc they aren't setting your up for success. When i complained the manager on duty he said "no one told me..." when I'm in clear view of the kitchen and i saw my server confront him with the menu directly after my complaint, i only imagine what their conversation was but...to not even touch the table to see how the experience is going shows me how much they care for their customers..my husband paid the Bill in full plus tip and went to the car with the kids while i waited 20 minutes for them to fulfill my request for chips to go with me left Over dip...which she knew about the moment i ordered the large i said "i want half now half to go." She put half the dip in a to go but no chips. When i asked for chips to go, she brought me bag to save the crumbs from our complimentary chips and salsa...that's not what i expect for a $10 thing of queso....overall i don't think i will ever dine there again 100% dissatisfied. And food is way too spicy for consumption unless you love spice. read more

We tried out the new Uncle Julio's. I was enthused about the made from scratch concept. Our experience was just okay. We specified a booth on the reservation, and were brought to a table. Since the lunch hour rush had not started yet, we were re-seated at a booth. The food (fajitas, salmon, tacos) was fine but nothing unique or delicious to the point of carving out a niche in a sea of other Mexican fusion options in the area. It was food I could replicate at home with less butter/oil. The service was fine, maybe a bit emphatic about talking up the restaurant. It was nice to see staff besides the waiter pitch in to bring more water, etc. Honestly, by the time we had finished a 2+ hour meal and spent over $100 for a party of three, I would have gone to Qdoba instead! I don't anticipate returning soon. The food quality and pacing of the experience did not justify the price tag. read more

Amazing service along with great food! The chocolate piñata was the best part and their decor is to die for. Always a go to spot for special dinners because it is on the expensive side read more

Servers are clearly unorganized and scrambling around. Our server didn't even write our order down- we asked for our appetizer and she said "oh I thought you changed your mind".... Table side guacamole chef came to our table twice about to prepare it, but we didn't order it- both times a server stopped him and said wrong table. They boast about "fresh ingredients" but the queso is neon orange and clearly came out of a can. Ordered steak tacos and LITERALLY broke a tooth from the meat being severely over cooked. Bacon wrapped shrimp was wrapped in undercooked bacon and soggy. Fresh fruit margarita" was rail lime with some seedy syrup mixed in. You couldn't pay me to go back to this place. read more

Great food, but Uncle Julio's is still in start up mode. We went a little after 4:00 PM on a Saturday. We called earlier, for a reservation but we're told none were available and that we could come in a wait for a table. Since we were eating early we were surprised by the hour-wait time being quoted at check in. But we pressed on and we got our name on the waitlist. It was then we realized there's no real waiting area. Some people were waiting on the patio in 40 degree weather. We eventually found a seat in the bar but the waiter told us that these were "full-service, community" seats which seem to mean we couldn't sit and order a drink - we were expected to order a meal. The noise level in the bar made that a poor option, but we stayed seated and when he reappeared, a full ten minutes later, we told him we need a drink menu. He dropped one off ten minutes after that and it was ten or fifteen minutes before he came back to take our drink order and then another 25 before the drinks started coming out, first one, then three more, and then oddly enough another fifteen minutes for the last drink - a bottle of beer. In the middle of all this our pager went off. It had been a full hour and we were still waiting for the last drink to be delivered. I stayed behind to pay the tab while the rest of our party went to the table - another 10 minutes. The good news is once we were seated, the experienced greatly improved. The table-side guacamole was some of the best I've ever had and our shrimp fajitas were outstanding. The couple we were with ordered combo plates and both were very pleased. The chips and salsa were also remarkable. If you go, get reservations if you can, and have a plan for what to do if you have to wait. read more

Just left uncle Julio's. It's 430 and they said they could not accommodate a party of our size, (2 adults and 4 kids) till 8:15. We drove thirty minutes to eat here so the fact that they made no attempt to seat us was highly unprofessional. I would have waited thirty minutes to eat there and if they told us 45 minutes maybe we would have waited or maybe we would have said thank you and tried somewhere else but they had no interest in helping our family get seated for a meal read more

Food is expensive. Small portions. Chips, salsa, and margaritas were good. Tends to be very crowded.

fajita is better quality than other neighborhood mexican restaurants. husband and i got different fajita dishes and could barely tell them apart. seasoning and flavoring was so very similar. shrimp was very tasty, meat overcooked, chicken was blah. cocktails were good. overall for the price we won't be back. read more

Horrible! The food was tasteless, and the service was lackluster. Very overpriced, and it wasn't worth it at all. I strongly do NOT recommend wasting your time and money! read more

We visited on Sunday May 26, at 4pm. We waited at our table for over ten minutes before anyone greeted us. There was enough staff they just bypassed us. Our food was delivered fast, and our server checked on us and we never seen him again. I sat with my plate on the side for over 20 minutes. We got our food wrapped ,Food was good, so I might try again. read more

There are a few stand outs on the menu that make it worth a stop--great skinny guava margaritas and delicious fajitas. Everything else is just average. read more

I read the mixed reviews and found my dining experience to be excellent. The 4 of us ate for an expected bill of 35/ head. I was not surprised by the prices a brookfield location must charge versus the numerous milwaukee based mexican restaurants. If your on a budget then this is not a cheap date place. The server was attentive and the food was better than the reviews I read. Reservation on line are booked weeks in advance to book an available time. Its popular because its new but will stabilize in a few more months. The fajita with shrimp/chicken/steak was fantastic. I only wish they would have chimichanga as an option. read more

Terrible describes it all from food to super overpriced .Taco Bell just as good.Should have gone to a taco truck.

Food is way too expensive for something i can get at the southside for half the prices , the restaurant is pretty though

Skirt steak with garlic better is the besttt also try the pineapple pico. There drinks are great in my opinion best Mexican food in the area even tho they are a chain it is authentic Mexican cuisine. There piñata desert is amazing as well and the kids really enjoy breaking it and eating it a lot of fun for the family. Also try the bacon wrapped shrimp that's what I order every time and you can't go wrong read more

Okay, I am from New Mexico where there is an abundance of VERY GOID. Mexican restaurants to choose from. So putting that aside I was prepared for an El Toronto ( tasty Mexican place for gringos afraid of hot/ spice!) experience. I visited this place on a Sunday evening which was our anniversary. Once we got seated we could tell they were not really trying to be festive nor interested in providing a fun , or at least, above average experience. I had a classic margarita with way way too much ice. I ordered enchiladas And my husband ordered Tex mex both combos. My son ordered chicken and shrimp fajitas our starter was cheese quesadilla. The quesadilla was super bland no sauce no salt no flavor at all. My enchiladas were ok. The hamburger meat and rice had been sitting around for quite awhile. My husband was begging for salt. Everything thing is soooooo bland. The chicken and shrimp stemmed okay for a ten year old palate. We will never go again oh only one dessert offered? read more

We had a reservation. It still took one hour from the time we were seated to get our food. I ordered my steak medium well- it came back burnt and crispy. This was my second visit and probably my last for awhile. read more

Wait, wait, wait. They are telling everyone 25 min wait and it's averaging over an hour....buyer beware. Though food is ok and service once seated is ok; you will be waiting at least twice as long than quoted. 2nd time this has happened....3rd time may be the final IF we come back!!!! read more

We made our reservation on line and were immediately seated. Unfortunately they have an outer room facing the parking lot. The inner dinning areas were fine, but this room was very cold. I has to go out to my car and bring back a down coat and sweatshirt for my wife and daughter to be comfortable. My guess would be around 60F or less, since it felt warmer outside where it was a cloudy upper 60s. Our waiter was prompt. My wife was impressed with my daughter and my being able to understand his "Spanish". We explained later that he had been speaking English and not Spanish, and we could only understand a few words of that. I am not saying not to hire Hispanic waiters. Just that they need to really slow down how fast they talk. When it came to the food, it was Ok but not great. The chips and salsa tasted ok. The bottom half of the chips were to broken up to be used for dipping. The salsa was not the chunky variety and a bit bland. My wife said her rice was a bit underdone. I prefer refried beans, instead of baked beans that were only slightly better than out of the can quality. I thought both the quality to price, and quantity to price ratios are better at El Beso. If you want more authentic fare, head to the upper south side. read more

I don't understand all the mixed reviews for this place. It was terrific. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. The service was a little slow but they were very busy, so I understood that. The server was very friendly and she was very attentive. I will definitely be back. read more

The food was decent but overpriced for the small portion. The chocolate pinata dessert was pretty awesome and unique. I would go again but there are still many other Mexican places I would choose before here. read more

There is a reason why I gave this place 1 star... First of all me and my daughter meet up with friends in a friday night to enjoy some food mexican food. We come with our chips and salsa right away (wait for it) so then we start ordering. So I order the Cheese and Onion Enchiladas. We wait for over an hour to get our food, and that was a little frustrating. I was fine that we finally had our food, but when my food comes. I get a cold cheese stick that you could buy at a store, wrapped in a cold tortilla, dosed and drenched in salsa!!!! What the heck is this kind of service. So then my friend talks to our waiter, (she has a very tight personality) and she tells the waiter, "So how would you explain this?!" The waiter has a horrified and embarrassed looking on his face and then says, "well our cheese comes in large craters from fresh cows." Umm excuse me, what does that have to do with anything?!! We will not be coming back anytime soon!! read more

Presentation is lacking on almost everything on the menu. Bar service is very poor. Good atmosphere and location however.

TLDR: Thin chips, too high prices for the quality. Went on a Sat night expecting a bad wait but it was really only about 30min. Cheers to the bartender for fetching us some fresh brewed coffee. I heard mixed reviews on service but our server was excellent. Disappointed by the limited range of margaritas. Jose's Blue Sombrero has more flavors. But my lime frozen tasted fresh, though not quite as strong as one would like. Tableside Guacamole was free if I downloaded their app, but we couldn't eat it because the chips were way too thin and greasy. They just crumbled in our fingers and into the guacamole. We got steak fajitas for two. Holy high prices, Batman. $37. Not worth it. Very little meat and peppers. Mostly onions. The rice and beans were ok, and I could barely build two wraps before I ran out of ingredients. The meat was cooked well but not very seasoned and a little too fatty for my tastes. So overall not a horrible experience but I've had better for less than half of these prices. read more

Chips and salsa are addictive and the cheese and onion enchiladas are my new favorite food. A tad overpriced for a Mexican restaurant and I wish they had a few more combination specials so that I could try more things. Overall good service and great food! read more

This place is overrated. Food and drinks are mediocre. Ambiance is poor. Very loud and uncomfortable

The service was amazing and the food was heavenly. Anyone that wants authentic Mexican food this is the place to go

I visited uncle Julio's a few days ago and returned quite sad. Most of the people I know had dined there and raved about how amazing it was. When I went with my family I was sadly disappointed there prices were outrageous and the portions were small. Not to mention many sides to the dishes were extremely unappealing. Later that evening I went to the restroom and they were very dirty with things on the floor and water from the sinks everywhere. My waiter was extremely quiet and spoke with an accent (something they couldn't change) so I wasn't able to hear him very well I hope my opinions can be changed in the future if I ever return. read more

I was overall disappointed in the quality of food we received. They had next to no vegetarian options, which is surprising for a Mexican restaurant. Of the three I identified on the menu, I settled on the cheese and onion enchiladas. Upon ordering, I was told none of their sauces (except for the complimentary salsa that comes with the chips) are vegetarian. I was told I could order the enchiladas and then pour the salsa over them. I ended up doing that and while it did not taste bad, the cheese used in the enchiladas seemed of a melted variety and not fresh. The cilantro rice was the tastiest thing I had. I am very disappointed in the lack of vegetarian options and the lack of accommodations for them. Mediocre overall. read more

It's okay. 1 out of the 3 waiters threw off a bad vibe and had an attitude so the food experience was ruined. GG's

Amazing food!! Peter the manager and Marco the waiter were both outstanding! Favorite eat out!!
