Nice spot to grab some food. Menu is eclectic, combination of Japanese and Latin American fusion. Wonderful part is everything is freshly made to order. I really wanted to try the fish tacos, but by noon they were out. The spot is ran by husband and wife so it may take some time for them to get your food out. It's simple with outdoor seating, and great views of the ocean.
We stopped by Uncle Bobo's for lunch after a morning of snorkeling. We ordered the ahi tacos, chicken katsu and the teriyaki beef bowl which ended up being my favorite. The service was a little slow so don't come here if you're in a rush, fortunately we were not. It's a tiny spot next to the post office and gas station.
My bf and I stumbled upon this cafe and we both are grateful to have come here. Yes, the food takes a while but it is fresh!! And delicious! Plus it's only a couple who runs the business so what do you expect ? My bf got the Katsu and I got the ahi katsu The ahi was fresh and delicious, my best experience with the fish Chicken katsu was light and crispy Even though we got some fried food, it felt so light and fresh ! Even the side salad was fresh !
Vegetarian here. Uncle Bobo's is where you go to get authentic, delicious food on the East shore. This is a mom and pop at its very core -- led by warm welcomes, quiet and calm beach vibes, and delicious food inspired by Japanese/SoCal roots. The vibes immediately carry themselves well here, and you can tell this place was (and still very much is) home for the local communities on the east shore. The restaurant is fuss free with delicious, fresh food being their main focus (+ their amazing service as their adjacent focus, of course). We made a quick stop at 7/11 for some snacks and drinks and decided to check this place out which happened to be next door. The review is based on the chili rice bento. It's not necessarily the island food that one might crave however, if you aren't a fan of fish, then this is a good option. It comes with small chunks of steak, ground beef and beans over white rice with some cheddar cheese and green onion sprinkled on top. There are only a few seats outside and orders are either placed ahead of time online or by scanning a QR code located outside.
I was on the Island for a work trip, and luckily had a day off. I had planned to rent a Harley, and check out the more "local" spots. A coworker that had been there several times recommended that I stop at Uncle Bobo's for lunch, and she was 100% right. The dish that I had was amazing - pork and rice, some veggies, and a side of poi. The owner seemed concerned that I wouldn't like poi, but I told him that I'll try anything at least once, and very much enjoyed it. While the meal was amazing, the real surprise was the mango based hot sauce. It was incredible - if they bottled it and sold it, I would have been bringing as much as possible home in my luggage! If you find yourself on this side of the Island, stop at Uncle Bobo's and you won't be disappointed - and try the hot sauce!
Stellar. A marriage between Island food prepared with an authentic Japanese taste and classic BBQ (the restaurant was named Uncle Bobo's BBQ in its near 20 year history). Why the high rating? 1. Extremely fresh veg. They claim home farmed, I don't doubt it. 2. In house hulled, winnowed, and polished rice. The taste in incredible. 3. Extreme attention to details. Breast meat chicken katsu, moist and tender while the outside is crisp. Ahi katsu, made from sashimi grade ahi, crisp on the outside, evenly cooked with a raw core. 4. Great tasting dressing / sauces. Outstanding miso based creamy salad dressing, outstanding soy, wasabi dipping sauce for the ahi katsu, very spicy but extremely mango forward hot sauce that paired perfectly with the pulled pork quesadillas. Sadly the pandemic has forced the owners to work the restaurant entirely on their own down from a staff of eight. Online ordering / payment only. Limited hours. Takeout recommended but there are a few outdoor tables to eat at and the owners will try hard to serve and accommodate guests. An unexpected discovery in small town Kaaawa.
10 outta 10 recommend! Food was winnahz!! My favorite was the ahi katsu, the Mac n cheese dippers was ono and the smoothie was delicious, even the homemade sauces they gave was really good too!

It was the first day of the year, and the gentleman who owns it did give us a heads up that it was only him And his wife cooking, and due to high amounts of orders, they're only taking online orders at the moment and that we're looking at an hour wait time. We said that's understandable. So when went back to the beach, placed our order online. Surprisingly, our order was ready in less than and hour! Loved it! Food was delicious. I ordered the eggplant katsu. Which was delicious, enjoyed the salad dressing for the side salad. Just wish there was some katsu sauce to go with it. But then again, I tried my husbands katsu sauce that he got with his chicken katsu, and we both weren't a big fan. We also ordered the Kalua pork quesadilla. Hubby said it was good, but again the sauce that came with it, wasn't good. Prices here were really responsible. Would I order from here again? Yes I would. I would just bring my own sauce lol
Staff was friendly and welcoming. The location is right across the street from a beach park. The food was fresh and delicious. They have somewhat of a limited selection. Mainly for katsu bowls. It took a little for us to get our foo, but we ate there. If you order ahead you won't wait at all. They only take online orders so when you get there scan the bar code or go to their website ahead of time. You cannot go wrong with the views and location. Very laid back and relaxed vibes.
Mexican Street Food. Uncle Bobo`s new menu Barbacoa Beef Tacos! shredded beef tacos with, with 3 corn tortillas, topped with onions, and cilantro, and salsa, on the side. Moist, soft and delicious! The sauce is also great. All the carefully prepared meals at this restaurant are delicious. The sauces made by the spice-loving couple are all delicious.
Hiked in the Kaawa area today and was delighted first of all to get cellular data reception at the top of Kahekili ridge and super delighted I could use the Yelp app to search for food. The first thing to come up was Uncle Bobo's and RodU's review showing 5 stars! Well that was all I needed to know to decide that is where we going! Anything RodU deems excellent must be true! i have hiked in this area many times and so puzzled I never knee of this place run by husband and wife team Robert and Keiko. We had to order online and the wait for the food was a little long but so worth it! We ordered the Teriyaki Beef bowl, Garlic Shrimp bowl and Katsu Chicken bowl. All was soooo good. We dined there and I loved they served our bowls in porcelain dishes even though it was a takeout casual spot. Seating is limited outside 3 small tables and about 8 chairs. Located on mauka side across from Swanzy beach and next door to 7-Eleven. Orders only accepted online at www.unclebobos.com
Robert and his wife are amazing people. My family and I were there for vacation staying in Kahuku and would drive down to eat at BoBo's several times while we were there. Everything they served was fresh, delicious and healthy, prepared with Aloha. We had the Ahi plate, the steak plate the chicken katsu was killer, the fried mac and cheeseballs were incredible ( they sell out so go early) . I would highly recommend. A Hidden Gem Across from the Beach! What a cute and quaint little spot! We absolutely love chicken katsu when we visit Japan, but it's been hard finding one in California that lives up to that same quality--until now. The chicken katsu here was a standout: perfectly crispy on the outside, moist and tender on the inside. Truly delicious! We also tried the pulled pork quesadillas, which were packed with flavor. The grilled onions and melted cheese paired beautifully with the seasoned pork--savory and satisfying. To top it off, we enjoyed their refreshing papaya and pineapple smoothies. They were the perfect complement to our meal. The woman who took our order was friendly and helpful. She let us know that it's best to order online since everything is made fresh to order. While there was a bit of a wait (about 30 minutes), we didn't mind at all--it was well worth it for such a great meal. Overall, we loved the food, the drinks, and the cozy beachside vibe. Do NOT be fooled by the humble appearance of this precious hole-in-da-wall establishment. The food is delicious. First, I'll start by saying that when I arrived right at opening time, the owner came out and asked me to place my order online. Apparently, the que of orders ahead of me were already filling up, ahead of opening time! Luckily, he let me place my order online and moved me up to the front, since I was there already anyway. Next, yes, they were sold out of more than half the menu. You could be like the sour customers who drove away after hearing that some items were not available, but that would definitely be YOUR loss. No matter what the inventory, the food is bomb. We ordered the plantation iced tea (good, not overly sweet), the ahi katsu bowl, and the chili rice bento. The ahi was fresh, perfectly breaded, and the sauce was amazing. The salad and dressing were also delicious, and my husband's only gripe was that he wished there was more of it. The chili? Holy smokes. This has got to be one of the BEST chili rice bentos I have EVER had. the flavors were perfect and even carried a bit of heat, which I LOVE!!! It even had bits of tri tip steak in it!! Score! We MOPPED our meals and were super happy that we gave Uncle Bobo's a try. When in the Kaaawa area or near Kualoa, this is a must try!! read more

Uncle Bobo's is the perfect food stop after an adventure at Kualoa Ranch. It's a tiny mom and pops shop that has a small but solid menu. The portion sizes are enough to satisfy moderate appetites. Bigger appetites will probably be happy with two items. FOOD Chili rice - quality chili served over rice. Ribs - tasty, quality ribs Katsu - fried well, breading isn't too thick SERVICE Friendly. Uncle Bobo seems a bit stressed but he's doing a good job. PARKING There are parking spots available right in front of the shop. Didnt have a problem. You can also park across the road at the beach lot and walk over. Then you can bring your food to eat at the beach! read more

This was on my list of places to try. The first time I was on this side of the island I missed their opening times. I came back because I really liked being at kualoa regional park (where the photo was taken). Anyway got their ahi bowl and one of their fruit drinks. It may seem pricey but it is worth it! The tuna was so good and the drink wasn't too sweet. The vegetables I believe they grow themselves and the sauces provided they made as well. The guy at the cashier seemed genuinely passionate about what they were selling. Whenever I come back I would definitely come back here and get the same thing. read more

Stopped in for a bite after snorkeling yesterday. The service was great, the place was really clean and the food came out in less than 10 minutes. We got the Katsu Mac n cheese balls and the Kaluha pork quesadilla. Both were cooked perfectly, not greasy and nice size portions. A great little find! read more

Pro tip order ahead online! This is not a fast food restaurant. Give them time to lovingly prepare your food! Husband and wife team working hard to keep the menu full of fresh and local food! Some they even grow themselves. Excellent service, food, and view. Some standard items and daily specials so check out current offerings on their online menu. Great local stop if you're driving up the Windward coast. read more

I made a quick pit stop from encircling Northern Oahu and was parched. Uncle Bobo fixed me up! I ordered the Hawaiian Papayan Smoothie. Uncle Bobo's puts the smooth back in Smoothie! Fresh, neither too cold nor grainy; just right. Reasonably priced at under $7 as of January 2022. One minor criticism. There was an order window located at the front of the restauarant but I was asked to order online. Why not just have a sign up to indicate online orders only? I'd need to try more of the menu for a five-star rating but the smoothie was top drawer. read more

My friends and I finished a great tour at the Kualoa Ranch and now hungry. The Ranch's Cafe was packed and we decided to explore the food options on the eastern part of Oahu. Upon looking at YELP review, we agreed on Uncle Bobo's. Uncle Bobo's is managed by a husband and wife team. They do it all themselves so be patient. We had the most wonderful BBQ lunch. One of the best eats in Oahu. We had three items and shared it all: BBQ Tri-Tip on salad with papaya dressing ($11.95). The meat was soft and melted in my mouth like butter. The papaya dressing was a nice balance of sweet to the savoury meat. BBQ Tri-Tip Sandwich ($11.95) on a soft and crusty bun BBQ Pork Ribs Smoked & Oak ($14.95 for 1/3). Comes with extra sauce and the meat is cooked in the back. The owner has his own BBQ equipment. We were lucky they still had some left. All I have to say-so delicious! We almost passed the restaurant so be on the lookout. When driving north bound, Uncle Bobo's is on the left side. If you see the 7-Eleven Store then stop and turn back. If the seating is full, you can do a take out and go across to the beach to eat. If you love the papaya dressing (seams like a very Hawaiian thing), you can buy a bottle there. read more

Was looking for a place to eat on this part of an island. Figured I'd check this place out. Made a good choice. Good was really tasty and the owner was very friendly. Definitely would recommend anyone in the area or passing to to try it out! read more
