Robert and his wife are amazing people. My family and I were there for vacation staying in Kahuku and would drive down to eat at BoBo's several times while we were there. Everything they served was fresh, delicious and healthy, prepared with Aloha. We had the Ahi plate, the steak plate the chicken katsu was killer, the fried mac and cheeseballs were incredible ( they sell out so go early) . I would highly recommend. We absolutely love chicken katsu when we visit Japan, but it's been hard finding one in California that lives up to that same quality--until now. The chicken katsu here was a standout: perfectly crispy on the outside, moist and tender on the inside. Truly delicious! We also tried the pulled pork quesadillas, which were packed with flavor. The grilled onions and melted cheese paired beautifully with the seasoned pork--savory and satisfying. To top it off, we enjoyed their refreshing papaya and pineapple smoothies. They were the perfect complement to our meal. The woman who took our order was friendly and helpful. She let us know that it's best to order online since everything is made fresh to order. While there was a bit of a wait (about 30 minutes), we didn't mind at all--it was well worth it for such a great meal. Overall, we loved the food, the drinks, and the cozy beachside vibe. What a delight! We finished horseback riding at Kualoa Ranch and we went on Yelp to find a lunch spot. It was a small operation, a husband and wife team, working in a small kitchen crafting everything fresh for you. I got the Ahi Katsu Bowl and an Iced Tea Plantation Style and it was amazing. It was the first day of the year, and the gentleman who owns it did give us a heads up that it was only him And his wife cooking, and due to high amounts of orders, they're only taking online orders at the moment and that we're looking at an hour wait time. I ordered the eggplant katsu. Which was delicious, enjoyed the salad dressing for the side salad. Just wish there was some katsu sauce to go with it. Going back in his review history, I believe he's become a bit of a conspiracy theorist since covid and now almost refuses to do anything by cash or verbal, he even used to have an indoors part that now no longer exist, and it's just two table outside. The window where you order food from feels like a bank tellers window also, and you can't see anyone through it. He also wants you to use his tedious, at best, website to order food, which if you use it correctly, charges you shipping?! After watching two other people struggle with the app, I went up to the window to order a drink using cash and the bloke smashed his fist down on the table and walked off having a blow up. Old mate is a professional flat spinner, I've never seen anyone crash-out over 3 drink orders! It was entertaining, but in terms of this bloke being able to handle others people food, it is a bit worrying. I was on the Island for a work trip, and luckily had a day off. I had planned to rent a Harley, and check out the more "local" spots. A coworker that had been there several times recommended that I stop at Uncle Bobo's for lunch, and she was 100% right. The dish that I had was amazing - pork and rice, some veggies, and a side of poi. The owner seemed concerned that I wouldn't like poi, but I told him that I'll try anything at least once, and very much enjoyed it. While the meal was amazing, the real surprise was the mango based hot sauce. It was incredible - if they bottled it and sold it, I would have been bringing as much as possible home in my luggage! First, I'll start by saying that when I arrived right at opening time, the owner came out and asked me to place my order online. Next, yes, they were sold out of more than half the menu. You could be like the sour customers who drove away after hearing that some items were not available, but that would definitely be YOUR loss. This was on my list of places to try. The first time I was on this side of the island I missed their opening times. I came back because I really liked being at kualoa regional park (where the photo was taken). Anyway got their ahi bowl and one of their fruit drinks. It may seem pricey but it is worth it! The tuna was so good and the drink wasn't too sweet. The vegetables I believe they grow themselves and the sauces provided they made as well. I really like eating here like everyone else it's all about the BBQ brisket. With that being said like any popular restaurant in Hawaii product runs out. But it's been a few times now and "no brisket" driving from south beaches and to not have the brisket saddens me. The wait is long but worth every minute when the brisket and fries are present. The service is mediocre it's the 2 owners and there really nice people but it's hard to manage how busy it can get and cook food, take orders. Sometime they yell but I just turn around. I'll start calling from now on to find out if the brisket is on the menu from now on. It's your number 1 seller so it makes no sense to not stock up. Especially on Saturdays. I wouldn't recommend it if your e never been here but if you've had the brisket sandwiches and fries. I guess you put up with the rest. The menu when I first ate here 11 years ago was small 6 items even 5 years ago I don't remember them having Asian food and fish .
