We love huli-huli chicken so when we saw this spot on Yelp we knew we wanted to give it a try. The parking lot was pretty busy, they're off to the side of a grocery store and cars were coming in and out the whole time we were there. Definitely be careful coming in or backing out. It was a hot day when we stopped by and there was a short line. The team worked through orders pretty quickly as we all tried to find some shade. This is definitely a grab and go spot, and once we had our chicken we jumped back into the car to enjoy it. Don't forget to grab napkins. We've found huli-huli chicken is best enjoyed fresh, so we were dug in as soon as it was cool enough to enjoy without burning our mouths. We got a half chicken for $8.75 and also bought some spices to bring home to a friend. It was a solid spot.

If you travel to Hawaii, Huli Huli Chicken is one of foods that you have to try. It located in Haleiwa town. There's a open parking next to it. The staffs are all efficient and friendly. The ambiance is very simple. You can see the process of making the chicken. I ordered one whole chicken. The waiting time was around 15-20 mins. The chicken is fully marinated and tender. It's worth it to drive to North Shore to try this Huli Huli chicken.

My friends and I unintentionally went on a North Shore food crawl on our last day in Oahu and ended up at Ray's Kiawe Broiled Chicken. When I say this was the most MOIST JUICIEST FLAVORFUL CHICKEN EVER -- I mean it. We drove by and we noticed there were tons of ppl waiting in line -- that caught our interest. For a whooping $18, you get a full broiled chicken + the grandma special sauce which paired SO NICELY with the chicken. The chicken was tender + juicy + well flavored. We waited a bit for our chicken but it was worth it. There isn't seating to eat here but we walked across the street to where Island Vintage and Matsumoto Shaved Ice and ate there. I will def recommend this place to family and friends and be back soon :-)

Was able to catch them at this location since they only here Tuesday and Thursday and glad we did. This is imo the best Huli Huli chicken on da island. I've had at other locations and this one is the most flavorful and juicy chicken we've had here. Would definitely keep this place on list as must stop when visiting.

This chicken right here was booommmbbb! I was so delightfully surprised with how good it was. Perfect marinade- cooked just right with every single piece left juicy. I did not mind the vinegar sauce on the side too- I actually appreciated that it kinda cut the richness of the chicken. The drive and wait was worth it. Tip: call ahead and order over the phone :) You're welcome.

Absolutely delicious Hawaiian chicken lunch plate! In the lot next to Malama Market. Best deal on the island! Get there early. But, don't worry, the line keeps moving.

Got the plate lunch finally! I went before the huge lunch rush on Sunday and only waited about 5-10 minutes. It was a decent price, $15. Chicken was cooked well. Good coleslaw. I don't like the sauce, it was a little too vinegar forward for me, and nothing really needed it.

1/2 chicken. Looks bigger than it actually is

Service was short and quick. Too busy for chatting. The food come out fairly fast considering how fresh off the spike it is. The team there works efficiently so as soon as the chickens come off, it's in the box! This is a food stall in the middle of a parking lot, so everything is to go. No worries tho as there are many options for seating a walk away! This is 100% island vibes. It's meant to be eaten at the beach. The chicken is excellent. Not dry at all, and cooked perfectly. The portions are fairly small. I would say a 1/2 chicken is good for one person- a hungry person. These chickens aren't Costco chicken, they're fresh, chickens are naturally big! lol I recommend eating with the sauce they have- it's vinegary and soy sauce-esque. 100% a must try!

Love that huli huli chicken taste. Brings back memories of fundraisers and childhood. I'll just have to savor all I can of the less than 1.91 lb. $17 whole chicken (including 3 plastic bags).

    This is the place!

Ray's is a sensory treat. You can enjoy it hundreds of yards before you even get there - by taking in that delicious scent wafting through the air. And then when you taste the chicken - wow! Absolutely outstanding! Bought some of the seasoning/rub to try this at home but I doubt it will be just as good.

Sometimes the simplest food in life is the best! When you are in Oahu, please make time for some great local foods. Just good old chicken and rice will always hit. The chicken was broiled right outside and you can see of fleet of them being rotisseried over charcoal. I don't even know if that's a word Lol. They seasoned the chicken really well and the chicken was super juicy and not dry at all. I should have spent extra dollars for their seasoning packet to take home. Aside from how delicious it was, the wait was so long though. Not sure if it's like that everyday or maybe the time I came, off season + weekend. I waited for an hour for my order... I respect these young adults grinding and putting up with the business, I think a few more hands would have made it more efficient. There were at least 40 orders before me and would have been helpful to have another person packing up the food to be honest.

My sister has been living on Oahu for 13 years now and I can't believe out of all the times I've visited, I've never tried huli huli chicken from anywhere. Well, I finally got to try it on this trip. We came by on a Sunday at 11 and there was no line. We were doing our own North Shore food crawl, so we got half a chicken to share with everyone. The chicken was so tender and flavorful - even the white meat. Even my niece, who doesn't really eat chicken, liked it. It's also kind of fun watching them cook all the chicken. I'm so happy to have found this place and will definitely be back for my next visit to the island.

I went here today and got their chicken plate that comes with rice and their yummy sauce. The seasoning they use for their chicken is soooo good and love that crack sauce too! Best Huli Huli chicken on Oahu! I ordered a drink to go with my meal which was Strawberry Diamond head soda because this is so nostalgic! They sell their seasoning here too if you ever wanna try to use it at home. This spot is so good and chicken is so juicy and tasty!

We got there really early before the opened and we were second in line. We shared a plate of their scampi with a side of their hot sauce. I learned this from the last time because as you peel the shrimp, dipping it into their hot sauce is the move. Going the other way around was way messier. People say their rice is mushy, but that wasn't the case today. Honestly, if I could, I'd skip the rice and go all mac salad. The mac salad was pretty tasty and perfect to break up all the garlic. While I've been here multiple times, I do find it to be good. Would I wait in a long line for it though, probably not. It's a spot I'd classify as a tourist trap, but at least the food backs it up. I think in comparison to what I get in California, it's a few steps above what we get on the mainland. I think if you are planning on getting here, do it early to avoid the rushes.

Once spots started opening up, we paid the $2 parking fee and joined the lines. Heads up, the long line on the right is usually for pickup, while the shorter line on the left is for ordering. We went with the famous Shrimp Scampi along with a side of mac salad. Shrimp Scampi (4/5): Easily lived up to the hype. The shrimp were juicy and easy to peel, and each bite was loaded with buttery lemon flavor and tons of crispy garlic. The rice soaked up the sauce really well, though there was honestly so much butter and oil leftover afterward that it pooled at the bottom of the plate. Still incredibly flavorful overall. Mac Salad (4/5): Creamy without feeling too heavy and generously portioned. A solid side that balanced out the richness of the shrimp. Bathrooms are located upstairs near the gift shop, and there's also a washing sink near the exit, which definitely comes in handy after peeling shrimp. Overall, a fun and iconic North Shore stop that absolutely feels worth trying at least once. Glad we checked it out to see if it lived up to the hype.

This Korean-inspired truck has more to offer than its competitors, not only because the menu is bigger, but also because there is zero wait and the shrimp is just as good. The service was relatively quick, and the woman working the truck was very nice. We ordered the galbi shrimp plate, and the galbi was pretty spot on. It wasn't as tender as we would've liked, but the flavor was definitely there. The shrimp was on the spicier side, but again, the flavor really came through. It is a bit of a nuisance to have to peel your own shrimp, but they were soft enough that you could still eat them pretty easily if you didn't feel like it. Seating is also nice since Hono's has its own area away from Giovanni's.

Mmmm... Delicious!!…read more The wife and I caught a quick glance of Moore's Soul Food Kitchen truck while they were parked at Geiger in Ewa Beach. It was the first time we saw this truck, so we both couldn't help but be curious about the goods.. especially my wife lol. First off, the owner was super cool! Being that my wife is from Louisiana, every time we hit up a soul food spot, she asks where they're from. Today, we learned that the Moore's family is from Florida and have been in Hawaii since the 80's. Since we already had an early lunch, we weren't tryna get too crazy on the ordering as I typically do. My wife decided to try the chicken wing plate which came with 10pc chicken wings and fries. After debating on the flavor choice, we agreed on chipotle mango. When the owner hand delivered the plate to us, she asked for our honest review... and here it is!! Haha! FIVE STARS! :) Happy to report the wings and fries were amazing!!! Loved the homemade sauce that the wings were tossed in. I was expecting a little kick after catching a scent of hot sauce, but they weren't spicy at all. I appreciate the naked wings too btw. They were so juicy and flavorful, and I love when my food is piping hot! Excited to try other offerings and even other flavors of wings. Hopefully more menu items are available the next time we stop by. Today there were a few things marked SOLD OUT. As far as hours of operation and locations, the best thing to do is follow them on instagram (which I don't have), but calling their number to check the schedule is another option. I've been to a lot of soul food places and a lot of them stand out in a good way. They marinate there chicken, and fry it with flour, they hand cut the fries and fry it with peanut oil, and lastly they scratch make the mac n cheese.
