This place is awesome. I went with some friends and we did the all you can eat deal. The best way to order is in phases so to not waste food. We order the seafood soups which were very good. We order the seaweed salad, cucumber salad, crab puffs, fried squid, fried fish, and fried dumplings which was very good. We then order all the appetizers except for the poke bowl which was good. We order up on the sashimi which was tuna, salmon, smoked salmon, eel, yellowtail, white tuna, shrimp, baked tofu, and egg. We order more rounds of sashimi and enjoyed it. All of the sashimi was very good. We order the steak, shrimp, and vegetable hibachi which was very good. Lastly we ordered desserts of the strawberry ice cream, red bean ice cream, fried Oreos, fried bananas, fried cheesecakes and shared them which was very good. We didn't order any rolls because we wanted sashimi mostly and rice rolls just fills you up too quickly. We were very mindful not to over order by knowing how much was on on the plate so since it was just 4 of us and if a plate had 2 things on it, we we only order 2 of them to cover us. The place was clean with pretty umbrellas hanging from the ceiling. We went on a Saturday for lunch early to beat the crowd and to not have to wait on food. We will definitely come back every quarter to not be burned out. read more

Umiya - Food was amazing and service was friendly and helpful when trying to decide between the huge menu of options. Highly recommend!! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Memphis, Tennessee

I'm not a sushi aficionado. I usually don't know much about what's in the roll in front of me, but I know if it tastes good and this place tastes good ! I have gone back twice this week and both times were eating to excess because it was so dang tasty. The miso was pretty good (both times) and I just started ordering and eating. I burned my tongue on the jalapeno popper because it was temp hot from the hot oil, otherwise, very tasty. I started with everything spicy and nothing was all that hot to me. The Split volcano was especially good so I ordered it twice ! The lobster Chalaca was also very good, but I didn't think putting away 2 of them was a good idea at the time. The Tempura Oreo is a temptation you should try once. I was too stuffed to get it both nights, but its great along with vanilla ice cream. I may go back again tonite before I fly out... read more

Consistently good and straightforward. The service is always pleasant, and today I sat at the bar where Tommy took great care of me. The fish is always fresh--I've been coming here for years. While the flavors aren't extraordinary, the quality is reliably steady. I tried the truffle edamame for the first time today and really enjoyed it--the flavor was excellent. The atmosphere is casual, with both indoor and outdoor seating available. read more

This place sucks if it is busy, no one really knows who doing what. You order something it might show up in a minute or 20 minutes later. All these people running around but it's all for nothing. Maybe if it wasn't busy it would be a bit more organized. I will give it props that it's somewhat clean compared to most of the places around. Would not come back though for it's cost of almost 70.00 for to AYCE and waters. So enter at your own risk! read more

We drove 2 hours to memphis to try it. We weren't disappointed. Enjoyed an actual AYCE sushi restaurant. Would have like to see a bit more of s roll selection, maybe a bit more creative. Sushi was great and had all my favorite appetizers would love to see oysters and quail egg shots. But one could only hope. read more

Great deal. Food is always fantastic and fresh. We've been several times and it's always consistently good.

Discovered this, UMIYA 'Eat All You Can' place along N. Germantown Parkway (formerly Bed Bath and Beyond*) in front of Wolfchase Mall. Reasonably priced. Tasteful interior decor. Very clean. Friendly Hosts & Wait Staff. Food is fresh & delicious & served on beautiful, hip dinnerware. They even have a Sports Bar! Friendly, fast, efficient service. My server, Angel was awesome & attentive to my every need. I encourage everyone to try this place & support it. 2710 N. Germantown Parkway, Memphis TN 38133 $20-$30. Phone: 901-425-5606 read more

The sushi tasted terrible. It had a burnt taste. I did not want more and should not have had to pay for it without arguing. I told the owner/manger I thought it was the mayo. He argued about it. I didn't make it. The teriyaki was not the best but ok. Not worth another try for $ 53. Just a so so taste. Restaurant was clean and had a nice remodel read more

Umiya - Sushi Bars Near Me - Memphis, Tennessee

I visited Umiya for the first time today. I've experienced restaurants with a similar all-you-can-eat system, so I knew going in the ordering process. Restaurant: Nicely renovated and clean. Location is good too as it's near us, but very dark/dim inside. Cost: Average. Food: I wasn't a fan of anything I ordered other than the shrimp fried rice and Lexington Roll (which was average). The items that were not great was the fried calamari, crab salad, shrimp tempura, Hawaii roll, and Shrimp noodles, and cucumber salad. Ice Cream is also not worth getting...it's one of those cups they sell at the grocery store. This is typically what we order at similar restaurants, such as Sushi Kingdom on Park Ave. Service: Bizarre. Typically at similar restaurants you use a marker to mark what you want, but they don't have that concept. They ask you to read off the menu what you want to order. Problem is that b/c it's dim/dark in the restaurant, the menus are tough to read. Thought it was just me, but all of us had trouble reading the menu. And who can remember what all they want ordered. Then after we ordered, the waitress took our menus and left only 1 menu for all 3 of us. We asked the server twice to bring our other menu and she stated that we can use 1 until she realized that we were having a hard time ordering that way. Absolutely stupid. Food came out fast though. Overall, I would highly recommend Sushi Kingdom. Their service and food is much better. Nothing against Umiya, but it's not for us. It is worth trying if you haven't been to places similar to them. read more

Fabulous food and service. Highly recommend it. No problem if someone in the party doesn't eat seafood - me. Many choices from the a la carte menu. Also vegan or vegetarian choices. EVERYTHING is cooked to order - no spice or salt, no problem. Buffet menu is cooked to order and has not been sitting around. You can order as much as you want - try everything on the menu. The servers are very accommodating and will tell you if it's going to take long and go as far as suggesting something to hold you over. Very comfortable seating and pleasant homey atmosphere. We were there Christmas Eve. Will definitely go back. read more

You have to try this place. The food is great and the service is above what you will find in most businesses. Th

The food was good. However, everyone in our party had received their rolls and were at least 50% finished before mine came out. I had to point out to them that I had not received mine yet and they said that fried rolls take a little longer. It shouldn't take so long that everyone else is almost done. The main complaint is that an auto gratuity of 18% added because we had at least six people. When it came time to pay, the screen showed 18% tip as the minimum. So I selected that. After examining the receipt this morning, it turns out I tipped them twice. I'm positive that the system is designed for that to happen. read more

management is terrible unprofessional and a bit of racism going on, manager walks up to young black male aj 17 years old and proceeds to say if I cut off the lights I will only see your teeth . Also this man is 50+ as the 17 yr old comes in he proceeds to call him handsome every time he comes in . The last situation last week he approached this same young man and grabbed his shoulder from behind in a aggressive manner I think this should be dealth with and noticed by the pole that eat here read more

Waitress was super nice, food was yummy and AYCE for 29 bucks! We tried 4 different rolls, udon, and a couple other things and they were all great. Only reason I give it a 4 rather than a 5 is that the bathroom was pretty gross. Other than that, would recommend! read more

We've seen so many AYCE sushi videos on Tik Tok, so we were excited to finally have the chance to try ourselves. We were promptly seated, I noticed while walking through the restaurant that everything seemed very clean. Our server was very busy, but he was kind and as attentive as he could be. This might be weird to say, but their clear soup was really good. I know that's such a simple thing, I don't know what they do differently, but Umiyas clear soup is superior. I also tried the spicy Kani salad and the tuna tataki for appetizers. The kani salad was okay, I just wanted to try it because I've seen people rave about it on social media. I would probably skip that next time and try something else, though there was nothing wrong with it, it's just not my favorite. However, the tuna tataki was exceptional! For sushi I got a spicy tuna roll, green mountain roll, and beauty and the beast roll. All of them were really good, and everything tasted very fresh! We are big Red Koi fans, and the rolls we had were on par with Red Koi. That's a big compliment from us! We each got a few pieces of nigiri, but it wasn't our favorite. It didn't taste sus, I think we were just getting full. I got a bowl of chicken fried rice and it was also really good. I wish I would've taken pictures, but I couldn't not write a review after we had such a good experience. I'm very weary of where I get sushi from, so if you're worried don't be. This place was excellent, and we will definitely be back! read more

We try the all you can eat for lunch today. The food was excellent and the customer services. The price point was a bit pricey for adults at $28.99 without drinks. The cost paying for a nice upscale restaurant. read more

The food and service from staff is always amazing. However today we came to umiya for lunch today and ordered the crawfish rolls. They are usually delicious however today they quite literally tasted rotten. we tried to finish them because we were told we cannot send it back. We finished all but one roll (we ordered 10 rolls) As we were talking and enjoying our evening, the manager comes up to the table and proceeds to scream at us for not being able to finish it. We are in the middle of the whole restaurant with him one foot away from us screaming. We proceed to stay calm and say we just were not able to finish the roll because the quality was bad, he then says he's going to call the cops on us if we don't pay. Mind you we never had a problem with paying for the food. We just couldn't finish the food it was so bad. The last time we came we couldn't finish ONE SINGULAR PIECE of sushi NOT a full roll but one piece and he also said he'd charge us $10 for not finishing it, we ended up eating the one piece, paid and left. Beware of this place because you'll leave sick and absolutely embarrassed. read more

Food was good. however after the Houston Chefs left store went downhill. been here many many times. food was amazing, loved it, was always treated kindly. however the past 2 times we came to the restaurant we left one single sushi piece & we were forced to eat the last piece, not that we couldn't make room for it. but seriously? over one piece of sushi? they wanted to charge us for a roll extra. this most recent time, manager "Andre" was a terrible host. he came out, yelling, we have one of the people in our party that always orders more food than the rest, he has a bigger appetite & always finishes his food. however, since the crawfish was extremely salty today, he didn't want to finish the last roll. although he could, but didn't like the taste of it & already was familiar with the previous nice taste that he encountered previously from the Houston chefs. Andre comes out yelling & saying he will call the cops if we don't pay for the extra roll. we asked him to try it, so he understands how the crawfish tastes, he refused & continued to yell infront of the whole store saying he is going to call the police and he doesn't care how it tastes. ** I assume due to new chefs ** everyone asides from Andre is phenomenal, but Andre is the manager and really did it for us with his extremely poor customer service & tantrum throwing. we are constantly coming here & are repeat customers, however due to this service & being treated in this way to make it seem we are bad people, we will not be returning to this location. maybe we'll catch the Umiya back in Houston to catch up with the original chefs. read more
