The food is fresh, delish and plentiful. Items are brought out as the chef completes them so keep that in mind. They give you a menu and a marker that you use to select the items you want and the quantity you want. It's about $30 per person. I sometimes forget that my eyes are bigger than my stomach but the additional charge for unfinished food kept that in check (they do allow you to bring that food home but if you live far away like I do, that's not ideal). The service was friendly and fast but the restaurant was far from busy on a Sunday afternoon. The bathrooms were clean and the restaurant was spacious and clean. Very unpleasant situation. I visit this place very often and have brought many friends here. I really like everything about it. The problem is that there are two different menus, and one of them is only served inside the restaurant. I specifically came to the restaurant and said that I was willing to pay -- I just wanted a particular item because I really like it. They told me it was "not possible" because the service was unavailable, even though they could clearly provide what the customer wants -- and I am the customer. I told them I was ready to pay and asked them to simply tell me the price. The manager was unwilling to have a normal conversation, communicated very rudely, and made the whole experience very unpleasant. I would advise the owner of this establishment to pay attention to situations like this and find a better way to handle them. It's such a nice place, but experiences like this really ruin the mood and make people not want to come back. read more

I've come here more times than I'd like to admit. For the amount of food you get it's a great price. The pineapple fried rice is extremely good with their shrimp and chicken (pro tip get the meat/shrimp and rice separately it's much better that way). I usually meet my husband here during his lunch break. It's a convenient spot and we've never had to wait for a table. The place is nice and welcoming. The staff have always been friendly and attentive. Most of the food we've gotten has been pretty good. Fresh ingredients, which is a must with sushi. My favorite is always the rainbow roll. This most recent time we got the Valentine roll (because we visited on Valentine's Day) and the Tokyo roll. Both were good, but the valentines roll was in the shape of a heart. I wish I had gotten a better picture of it. This place has one of my favorite cheese wontons and gyozas. Hibachi is nothing to brag about. The fried rice is kind of plain. Edamame is nicely cooked. We did try a fried banana and that was the worse food we've had there. The batter was plain as could be and someone it took the banana flavor away so it was just so bland. Also, in case you aren't aware, they charge for food not eaten. So even though it's all you can eat, order a little bit at a time. You can always order more during your visit. I did use the a la carte menu and was lucky to get the best dish, the Unagi Donburi with Shrimp Tempura side. It comes with a miso soup also. Though the unadon is not served on a bowl, but rather on a plate. The unagi and rice is spot on with the Kabayaki sauce, freshly prepared, complimented with some mango cubes, sliced veggies, wasabi & pickled ginger. The tempura side had 2 pieces of shrimp plus assorted veggies but it was more like kushikatsu. Will probably return to try the AYCE menu. When you sit down you receive the menu and it explains how it works. You can order unlimited sushi and hibachi. They do charge 50 cent to $ 1.00 surcharges for each piece of leftovers so please be mindful. You can take the leftovers home too. First, let me say that I would have given this place 4 stars, but it is a bit pricey. The restaurant was clean and the waitress was attentive (though the language barrier made it difficult to communicate). They have an all-you-can-eat menu. It costs about $29 per person with an additional charge for food wasted or not eaten. We opted out of that and chose to order from their traditional menu. Walked in with a group of 4 and were seated immediately. We were a bit confused on the process and we never got it explained, but the waitstaff was friendly. They are definitely working out kinks. We saw multiple food/beverage spills by the staff. Now for the sushi. For AYCE sushi it was pretty dang good. You can get 15 pieces of nigiri/sashimi per person before having to pay per piece. Overall the food was very good for the price point. They came back many times to see if we wanted to order more. Bad parts: the service, while friendly, didn't understand the menu very well. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. I came for lunch with my sister. You order what you wish by marking off your selections on their menu. They are so lovely, and the food came out quickly. It's $18.95 a person, and it's all you can eat. It's a good value if you want sushi and some apps. I've eaten at several sushi/Japanese restaurants in the city so my expectations/standards are pretty high. The sushi roll was okay. The LSU roll with soybean paper. Definitely have had better at Red Koi, Tokyo Grill to name a couple. As far as Hibachi, again after having authentic Hibachi, ie, Benihana and Nagasaki Inn, this place is not it. It's served with some kind is teriyaki sauce and the vegetables are not the standard onions, mushrooms and zucchini/squash mix with a side of Yum-Yum or Ginger sauce. Looks nice but different than expected and tasted differently than want "I" wanted. I was told this is "how they prepare it." Try at your own risk but know you've been warned!! Oh the sweet tea, not so much. Now our waitress was a doll, Kai. It was her first day and she handled everything very professionally. She was so willing to help make it right. Very spacious and clean, there is a weird smell when you first walk in, not sure if it's due to it being a newly built building or not but you get used to it after a while. So, I recently went to Sushi Kingdom, and I have to say it was a completely underwhelming experience. The server while courteous, asked us if we had ordered several time AFTER taking our order. And while it was a very nice set up, the tables were far too close together, and the as there was nothing to muffle the echos of patrons talking, it was nearly impissible converse with my dinner companion. But the worst part was that if the best way you can describe the sushi is bland, things are not good. Everything, from the spicy Tuna rolls, to the Rainbow Roll, all tasted the same, tasteless. Ambiance wa nice, fresh and the place was super clean. We were greeted entering and exiting the restaurant. Service was great considering the menu is confusing to me. It says all you can eat and ala carte but the rolls individually are expensive and the cost adds up to more than all you can eat which is odd to me. Now the actual rolls were mid at best. There is way too much cream cheese in the rolls which is over powering and consumes the rolls. Avocados and cream cheese is just too much for my taste. Most rolls are finished the same wasabi sauce and spicy mayo which make them taste the same. I prefer a spicy roll and didn't taste any spice. Now this fried cheesecake was interesting because I'm not into fried desserts and this reminds me why. I am a fan of cheesecake but warm/fried cheesecake, I wasn't sure but this one was not too bad actually but unfortunately it was not warm all the way through. Midway through or the thickest part was cold. The fried 'skin' was weird and chewy so I removed it. Pretty standard sushi for an ayce in memphis. I've had better in other cities but ayce sushi is never as good as regular order. For $19 it wasn't bad though and I will probably go back at some point. Tuna tataki was ok but just ok. Clear soup was ok. Crab salad was ok. Shrimp tempura was not homemade nor was the gyoza. Service was not good but they will get in a groove. The sauce was thick and sweet. The chicken was tough. I was disappointed, even more so because I abandoned my normal sushi spot. The restaurant is big and open. You certainly don't feel enclosed.
