Rollins roll, 70% hamachi, double seafood roll, volcano roll

Last night my friends and I dined in at Umi for the first time and our waitress, Jennifer was lovely! The weather was beautiful so we dined on the patio. The lychee martini was delicious. I also tried a sip of the mango saketini and it felt a bit stronger on the alcohol. We stared off with the spicy kimchi edamame and the flavor was intense but not too spicy. We decided to split 4 rolls: volcano, 70% roll, double seafood roll with no cream cheese, and a Rollins roll. We inhaled it. It was delicious. Their menu is extensive, so I highly recommend ordering a bunch of items and splitting with friends.

Had just a bad experience the past time going. Service was not great. Everything looked kind of dirty. The sushi roll I always get lacked flavor. The tuna appetizer was by far the worst most unflavorful tuna I have ever eaten. Just overall a disappointment. Was nice to get a free dessert by leaving a google review though.

Super fresh. Quick service. Ordered takeout and it was still very nicely packaged and you can taste the freshness. The spicy tuna definitely had a kick to it. The yellow tail kinda looked a little different than what I thought the picture was but still pretty tasty overall

We came in for dinner and had a good experience. We were able to snag the last inside table. Service was nice, just a bit slow. To drink, I got the hot green tea. They serve it in a nice kettle and traditional tea cup. For our entree, we got the edamame. They were hot and fresh with the perfect amount of sea salt. To eat, I enjoyed the crunchy hako salmon roll. I did order the tuna version, but I didn't feel like sending it back. Despite getting the wrong fish, it was absolutely delicious! My boyfriend got the Park Avenue roll and loved it. After our food came, the owner came to check on us, which was very nice. We loved our experience and will definitely be back.

Such great sushi! We wanted the tuna Nigiri, but they were out of the special tuna sampler, but our waiter spoke to the chef and he made a special combination with as much tuna as possible. Our favorite part is that all of the pieces are different, even on 2 boards. Gives you so many more options to try. My favorite was the eel. Make sure to make a reservation, and book a spot at the sushi bar so you can watch everything being made!

I love Umi. It is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Winter Park. I went with a friend on Friday night and I'm glad I made a reservation because it was packed. Our reservation was for outdoor seating and it was perfect because we had gorgeous weather that night. We started off with some wine before ordering our sushi rolls. We ordered the Bishojo, Crunchy Hako and Firefly rolls. They were 10/10. The fish tasted fresh and the combination of ingredients was excellent. We only ordered rolls this time but they have a great selection of other items including ramen!

Great restaurant for a cute date night on Park Avenue or just to go! The sushi is really delicious here. We tried the Volcano roll, Park Avenue, and spicy tuna roll. The Volcano and Spicy tuna stole the show! I didn't enjoy the Park Avenue roll, the combination didn't pair well in my opinion and the Wagyu didn't taste the greatest. Waitress was very sweet as well! Definitely will return to try other rolls and dishes.

My friend drove from Daytona to meet me for lunch. She had been wanted to try this restaurant. We had the option to sit inside or at the tables outside. It as a beautiful sunny day so we wanted to sit outside. We ordered some appetizers to start. The gyoza was so good I ordered another round. My chicken fried rice was also really good. They had desserts I really wanted to try but I convinced myself to behave. The food and conversation was great. I would recommend checking this place out.

Came here last week. First of all I love the concept of sitting outside. Reminds me of New York. Anyways it took forever to get seated even thought it wasn't full. Personally our server wasn't the best. I kept having to ask for items even just to have my water refilled. I understand he works inside and outside so it must be hard going back and forth. The food was good but nothing out of this world. I like more the ambience than anything else.

We tried Umi during a stroll around Winter Park. My stepson loves Asian cuisine so he chose Umi. I wasn't very hungry so I just got the gyoza appetizer and a house salad. My husband got the Umi fried rice and he wasn't a huge fan of the flavors. Everything was A-okay, nothing terribly impressive and kind of expensive. I think we'd explore other restaurants nearby next time.

I had a very delightful experience here with a friend for dinner. This place is tucked into Park Ave and has been around for a long time. Every time I come to eat here, I kick myself for not eating here more often! The service was really great and attentive. We ordered some appetizers, sake, ramen and sushi rolls. All the food was deeeeelightful! My favorite thing was the yellowtail chimichurri. It was so fresh and light and I could've had multiple plates of it! The sake the server recommended was crisp and not overpowering. The rolls were good but not as good as the yellowtail appetizer. My friend had the ramen and she said that the broth was very flavorful. I always forget how filling sushi can be so I recommend less is more if you're not famished or are sharing. Overall, an enjoyable evening!

Umi was just okay in my opinion. Nothing really stood out or left the impression that I had to come back and try different rolls. We had ordered 3 different rolls - the rice to fish ratio was definitely more on the rice side. They originally brought us the wrong order, so we waited a bit for our 3 roll. Service was a bit slow - they seem understaffed with servers having more than 4-5 tables at a time. It's an okay spot for college students but I would probably go somewhere else next time for better sushi

    Tuna Kobachi
    Marshy L.

I did take out for this Japanese restaurant and I liked everything I ordered. It is pricey for the quantity and ingredients included. Service and ambiance wise- I could not rate them but the kitchen replaced some items, also the delivery was late and I can't tell which one was the culprit. It was outside the promised window (15 minutes). I ordered tuna Kobachi and had masago and avocado added to it, which were not included. It was accompanied by scallions and it said it came with a spicy Kobachi sauce, pickles and daikon, but mine only came with ginger and wasabi, and an order of seasoned, crispy rice crackers. I ordered steamed dumplings and they were 5 small, made to order served on a bed of iceberg lettuce and a julienne of carrots. Overall, I thought the taste was okay, I was disappointed with the choice of ingredients, the Kobachi's underwhelming taste and replacement of of ingredients; I was not expecting that. I might visit the restaurant in the future. The jury is out.

Let's start with props for being open at that time on a day when most restaurants are still sleeping from the night before. But here, you can get highly-curated, quality Japanese hand-rolls, with Sapporo or Asahi on draft, all kinds of sake, a calm, soothing atmosphere and friendly service. The place itself is very art-directed, modern and purposeful. Apparently it's owned by the Kabooki Sushi team, and the quality speaks for itself. It's not your typical sushi restaurant. It's hand rolls. Which means, seaweed is the wrap. Theirs is imported straight from Japan. And for the record, the seaweed is dense, flavorful and also way healthier for you than a mouthful of rice. I sat for the omakase which included a very delicious hamachi appetizer. Then an onslaught of handrolls including lobster, eel, a lean and fatty tuna (toro, the best) and a spicy root vegetable of the name I can't remember. In all, this place has great hours. A wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. And flavors that you can explore because the folks there want you to have fun eating the food as they prepare it. It's very live and fresh. And I'm super grateful it's just a few blocks away because I'll leave you with this. The prices are reasonable too. 5 stars all around. But be careful, I hear it gets packed during peak evening hours. Bravo though. Mosonori has a place in Orlando's culinary scene, for sure.

Hearing about the hyper-local farms and what they provide was really unique, while also appreciating the fish, rice, and vinegar they import from Japan for authenticity. Overall a great blend. The food is expertly prepared, though I wish they leaned more into the sushi and Japanese inspiration for the entire evening. The fresh fish and sushi courses were the highlights of the show and make for a peculiar parallel to the later deeper flavor dishes like the braised short rib. It's not just about the food, it's the pacing, the storytelling, and how intentional every course feels. The omakase flows beautifully. Nothing feels rushed, nothing feels dragged out. Each piece builds on the last. You can tell there's real thought behind the progression. The fish is pristine, but what stood out more was how balanced everything was. Clean flavors, subtle creativity, and zero gimmicks. A few bites genuinely caught me off guard in the best way. That moment where you pause and just look at the person next to you like... yeah, that was special. If you're going, get the drink pairing. It actually elevates the experience instead of just being an add-on. Everything is thoughtfully matched and enhances each course without overpowering it. Service matched the experience. Attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable without sounding scripted. The whole room feels intimate and dialed in. Chef Tony made the experience feel personal, not transactional, which is rare even at high end omakase spots. If you're in Orlando and serious about sushi, this is a must. Not just for the quality, but for the experience as a whole.

But first, the ambiance is perfection! The spot is busy, but they control the crowd so it never feels too crazy. The music is moody, but luckily not too loud. I would definitely say get in earlier in the night so you miss the wait, but, waiting might be part of the allure. We started with the gyoza, and these were unreal. Perfectly cooked, super consistent, packed with flavor. I just wish they brought out about three more orders without us asking. That's the only problem...you'll want way more than you get. The crab and corn croquettes had this awesome crunch right out of the gate, and the flavor was spot on. Whatever sauce they serve with it takes the whole thing up another level, don't skip that bite. The Japanese fried chicken was just solid all around. Juicy, great breading, but what really stood out was the seasoning sprinkled on top. It sounds simple, but it's not, sprinkle it on everything! Then came the crab fried rice...hands down the best fried rice I've had in Orlando. Big chunks of crab (not those tiny flakes you have to hunt for), great portion, and just really well balanced. This one alone is worth the return trip. The scallop crudo felt like summer on a plate. Bright, lemony, super fresh. Maybe a touch salty for me personally, but still something I'd order again without hesitation. We also did the beef and pork belly skewers--both good, but the beef edged it out. If you go that route, get the chimichurri. Overall, this place just gets it: fun atmosphere, thoughtful food, and dishes you actually remember after you leave. Already trying to figure out when we can go back...because this definitely needs to be in the regular rotation.

We came after dinner so didn't try any of the food, even though it all looked so good. But the drinks were amazing! And love that they make bespoke mocktails.

The service is always fast and the food is fresh and delicious. Pro tip. I order in advance before arriving and it's ready when I get there. There are always good tunes playing and the restaurant is modern and clean. Lots of tables even though it's not a huge space. I usually get the build a bowl with glass noodles, the Korean fried chicken and a medley of veggies. It never misses. It's a good sized portion so I never leave hungry. Must try and worth the drive.

Think of it as the Korean version of Chipotle. Glass noodles and the marinated mushrooms were good; kimchi and bulgogi I've had better, more flavorful; overall flavors were more muted and slightly less salty than equivalent restaurant experiences, so probably healthier for you. Limited menu means they have a straightforward build for you. Cold ingredients added at the front; the kitchen does the warm/cooked ingredients, so the service speed is a bit slower than expected but probably good that they're making some of the proteins fresh, at least.
