I came in and it was actually very crowded. They have a bunch of iPads where you can order individually, but I decided to do the order ahead of time through online. They actually didn't have my order ready because I think they wanted to make it fresh, but I feel like that defeats the purpose of pre-ordering and waiting around for it to be made. On most drinks, they don't allow you to customize the ice level, but they allow you to customize the sweetness and toppings in it. I went for the strawberry Matcha with ice cream and it was a good balance of creaminess. I got 50% sugar and still thought it was sweet, so I would go less on the sugar. Interior: The ambience of the store is very modern, and has a cute, pink interior with two kiosks for ordering. Most of the drinks there are between the $5-7 range, so very affordable. Drink: I ordered the oreo creme brulee oolong milk tea ($6.95) with 30% sugar and no ice. The amount of toppings was very generous, but I should've done 15% sugar because it was still a bit sweet for 30% (I normally get 30-50% sugar at other places, because I still like a bit of sweetness, but not overly sweet). Regarding the taste of the milk tea itself, the flavor of the tea wasn't very prominent/strong and it tasted mostly like creamer (i.e. similar to the Tapioca Express or Quickly milk teas) - it was a tad bit heavy/rich. The overall price wasn't bad but I guess you pay for what you get. I can't speak for Ume's other drinks such as fruit teas/smoothies, but there are many other options besides the milk tea (i.e. new peach series, matcha, etc). However, for the milk tea itself there's definitely other places that are a bit more authentic (i.e. Molly Tea, Wanpo, HeyTea) so if I do come back again, I'd probably try a non-milk tea item such as their fruit smothies. read more

Ume Tea is a little too conveniently located for me. I find it hard not to stop in, especially after a workout! You can order online or from a kiosk right when you walk in. The turnaround time for drinks is fairly fast. For snacks, you'll need to wait a few minutes (still fast). Your fried snacks are made fresh to order. I usually order the fried tofu but one of these days will probably order one of the combos (drink + tofu rice) since it's such a great deal. Their fried tofu is fried to perfection. It's crispy and light, made with soft tofu vs firm. The result is a crispy and creamy bite with just the right amount of spice on them. The employees here so far have been nice and serve up everything well- made. The shop itself is ultra kawaii! It's hard not to upgrade to the special cup with the plushie keychain. I went with a group of friends, and the interior was cute but there wasn't too much seating. We ordered from the kiosk and it took roughly 30 mins to get a couple of drinks. Surprisingly, the brown sugar fresh milk at 50% sugar felt like it was at 100 or more. We were surprised the sugar didn't line the walls of the cups and it looked monotone (just like milk). We also got a green tea with taro balls. The taro balls tasted like they'd been sitting all day. We did come at the evening, which could be the reason, but some pieces were harder whereas some were softer. It wasn't really chewy or firm. The green tea was good though! Not too astringent and refreshing. The disappointing part was the service. Someone (I think a week ago?) also mentioned the service went downhill, and it's noticeable. We had trouble finding our drinks (there were multiple rows of drinks), and one of the workers was helping us and couldn't find it. A different worker (maybe a lead or manager?) ended up finding it, but she was clearly agitated, made a face, and pointed at the order number with the drinks after helping us.
