The restaurant has a pleasant and clean atmosphere, and the service is polite and friendly. The restrooms are also clean. Regarding the food: The takoyaki had a decent flavor, but it was cooked with a noticeable amount of oil, which was visible when served. The shrimp tempura udon's shrimp appeared to be heated in a microwave instead of fried, resulting in a lack of crispiness. The udon itself had a standard taste. Finally, the spicy miso ramen contained an excessive amount of chili oil yet lacked spiciness, and the corn topping was undercooked and somewhat bland.

It was just ok. Not the best ramen around but it was passable. The shrimp tempura was very good.

1st time to this store under this name. Got the bacon shrimp skewer- solid. Kept it basic and safe with the R1. - very good. Nothing too over the top or flashy about it, just good, tasty, jones-quenching ramen; I appreciate that (and for a decent price by today's standards). Thought I'd get a cold refreshing cold beverage so went the GJT since I love grapefruit and jasmine tea. I'm not one for sweet drinks normally but I thought I'd venture out of my comfort zone... and this was . Lots of GF pulp and not crazy, candy, sugary sweet that makes ya cringe or pucker. Just enough to satisfy the sweet tooth or craving! I sat outside cause the day demanded it. But the inside looked aesthetically thoughtful enough and had the cozy chill ramen restaurant vibe Equally important, I'm thankful for the good, friendly and attentive service this afternoon. Pleasant way to unplug and enjoy a meal from an otherwise long, busy, task-filled day (in my case). Ill make it a plan to return and if I like a place, I'll be spreading the Good word.

Newly opened up we think as we see the opening banner out front. Came in for lunch. Service was good, food made to order so expect some wait time. There was only 1 table already eating. A few more customers came in while we ate. Parking lot available. Food was decent - wasn't wowed. The beef udon could use more beef. Shrimp from the seafood udon wasn't fresh - was mushy. I didn't try the ramen. They do have a lunch special that comes with drink and appetizer.

We were greeted as soon as we walked in. There weren't many customers at 7pm on a Friday night. We ordered the roast pork buns, bacon wrapped shrimp skewer, chicken skewer, miso ramen and spicy miso ramen. The roast pork buns were unique as they weren't made with the steamed bao bun but with a baked one that was crispy. The skewers were tasty. The ramen was ok. The Charsiu was thinly sliced and it came with like 4 slices so it didn't even feel like I was eating any meat. The restaurant was nicely decorated.

This is our first time at Umai Ramen, but not the first time at this location. Previously, it was Kokoro Ramen and I was so sad it closed. The replacement, however, is very worth it. My sister and I came on a Tuesday afternoon, and there was no one here, but less half an hour into our meal, more costumers came. The ambiance is very nice, it's not too dark and there are windows that give bright light. The decorations are cute, very Japan, which obviously this is a Japanese restaurant. Even before entering the restaurant, a server came outside and greeted us and gave us two menus to look at. I got mango strawberry tea and it was so refreshing. My sister got honeydew jasmine green tea and she enjoyed it. We got appetizers: shrimp tempura, calamari, a mushroom skewer, and all 3 came less than 10 minutes after we sat down. Our main entrees were: chicken katsu, and the pork cutlet set. We really enjoyed both, and our server was super nice. He came up to us more than 5 times, but it wasn't annoying because he cleared our plates everytime. They gave us a stamp card for free food as well. I would come here again, I give everything we ate 5/5

Mazamen- ok but sauce is too sweet. I like wavy noodle's chewy texture more

Overall pretty good place for ramen. Not the best. But very decent. I prefer Kyuramen for south jersey

Appetizers were amazing! Really enjoyed the beef and chicken skewers, takoyaki, and chasu bun. The ramen was really good too probably 4.5/5 and the udon was really good too 5/5!

Thai iced tea in a cute cup!

Umai Ramen has a chill, trendy atmosphere with an anime-vibe. We were seated immediately and the food was served quickly after ordering. They have many interesting deals to take advantage of. We ordered Takoyaki which was 5pcs, large and fluffy with great taste! We also ordered Shrimp tempura udon, Mayu Ramen, Vegetable Ramen, and Kara miso ramen. The quality of each dish was great, and we were satisfied with the noodle texture which is not the instant ramen type used by other restaurants. The portions were also perfect for each person to finish and be full without wasting leftovers. You can also customize the broth and noodle firmness of your order! They gave us a stamp reward card, and we definitely plan on coming back :)

Wanted to give this place a try and glad we did. So cool looking inside and waitress super friendly and nice. Apps came out quick and hot and food right behind. Also, you gotta try the Calpico drinks... mango was so good. Couldn't decide on a few things so guess we'll be coming back.

Genji also is credit card only. I have had the ramen a couple of times and it was pretty good but not great. However, it is nice to have this option while in Whole Foods. There are about 5 ramen choices. In addition, Genji offers Bao Buns, Sushi, dumplings and bubble tea. I have had the Bao Buns and their sushi and both again were pretty good. I do find Genji a bit expensive, especially since there is no real servers and the dining/seating area is shared with Whole Foods. There also is a dedicated Ramen shop less the one mile away so I would think their pricing should be more competitive. 3.5 Yelp stars.

Best ramen in the area but not many dedicated ramen joints locally. Very friendly front end staff…read more I had the shoyu ramen and some hibiscus iced tea. Ramen, at least for me and in my humblest of opinions, is affected by the quality of several components. -The richness and depth of flavor of the broth -Texture and way the noodles hold up -appeal of plating -quality of accompaniments -utensils The ramen here is plated nicely, the shoyu egg cooked perfectly and the broth is pretty good - not itoxicasting or addictive like what I have come to expect but pretty good. I give this place extra marks because the execution and eating experience is well above average in thoughtfulness. Your meal comes served on a nice wooden tray, a mini mortar and pestle is provided so that you can grind your own sesame seed, fried garlic and pepper flakes, the soup spoon is a nice size and shallow enough with barely graded circumference of the spoon to prevent chin drips, cuz ummm why waste even one dribble of broth and the chopsticks are nicely ribbed for your eating pleasure. Ahem, no dirty thoughts here, just think about it. Noodles are slippery so the ribbing/design creates the perfect utensil to grab those noodles and transfer with minimum casualty to your anxiously awaiting mouth. All of these factors added up makes Genji Ramen a solid 4 star experience. Don't be skeptical because it is located inside of Whole foods. The dining area is open and great for people watching and you can fill your belly then grab a cart and shop away!!!
