The majority of online reviews have been fabricated by the owner & his wife. Overview: Unlicensed…read morecontractor despite claims of being licensed and insured. Lack of communication. Delays in start date and time to complete project. Quick to take our money and leave us with an incomplete bathroom and work that is not up to code. https://services.oca.state.ma.us/hic/licenseelist.aspx We contracted with Dave Campbell/DC Construction Services in April 2015 to perform our bathroom remodel which was to start on June 29th and take 2 weeks to complete according to him. The start date got postponed to the last week of July and we made the agreed upon initial payment for him to start the work. The revised start date came and went with no sign of Dave and it became increasingly difficult to get in touch with him. When we did, we received various excuses for the delays and the promise that we were next on his list. After asking for our deposit back come late October, which resulted in a long phone conversation, we reluctantly agreed to proceed with a new start date of November 30th. The 2 week project quickly turned into 3 weeks before we had a functional shower (the only one in our 1.5 bathroom home) and 4 weeks before we had a functional toilet, but still no sink as Dave had agreed to build a custom vanity and linen cabinets as part of the remodel. The new tub and tile work looked great and we were thrilled to have a shower and toilet again. We quickly overlooked the delays as there was visible progress and an end in sight. The 2nd payment had been made, and at Dave's request, we even agreed to pay a portion of the final payment as we were assured construction of the vanity was in progress and the job would be completed in the next 1-2 weeks. The 2 weeks passed with no communication and repeated requests for updates went unanswered. We finally got a quick reply on week 3 with the promise of a detailed update later in the day, but we again heard nothing from him. After reaching out again at week 4, we messaged Dave that we made other arrangements to complete the vanity and the bathroom and we then proceeded to do so. It wasn't until 2 days later when we asked for our faucet and our house key back that we finally received multiple replies and excuses. Shortly thereafter we discovered that Dave Campbell has been unlicensed since June 2014, despite reassuring us several times that he was licensed and insured. The plumbing work that was done would need to be redone as it was not up to code. A visit to the Town's Department of Inspections confirmed that a building permit should have been pulled for the work completed and that no permit was pulled for the plumbing work either. We are now out several thousand dollars and left with an unfinished bathroom that will need substantial additional work at a considerable additional cost to complete.

My family had the tools but NOT the know-how to build up-to-code stairs for the public. We called upon our 2015 porch 'hero' company, Progress Contracting Corp., owned by Tim & Nicole Fiorillo to ask if they could somehow give my husband and son the ins and outs to do goabout building the stairs. While this company may build high-end homes, Tim knows the value of mentoring others to build well-structured safe things that stand the test of time--Progress Contracting listens and they make their clients happy. West Roxbury's Stratford Street Church was over-the-moon grateful to get Progress Contracting Corp's gift of time and assistance with the measuring, mitering, sawing, mentoring, etc. that allowed my husband, Peter Low, and our son, Aidan, to construct them a set of amazing 'rolling/locking' stairs for the Church. Years ago, Progress Contracting Corp. saved my family from a $50K porch disaster and they became extended family to us. With their help this much-needed project cost my family $150-ish but it was a priceless gift to the Stratford Street Church near us. Good contractors are out there so make some progress on your home improvements--call Progress Contracting the first time. They're based in Franklin but they're often building in Westwood and West Roxbury. You won't be sorry; they're just good people building great things.

The walls and floors had bad rotting and damage due to the previous owners' neglect. Henrique and his fixed the damage, made the room much more weatherproof, and made the inside far far nicer than it was before. Henrique also had great suggestions on how to improve, rather than just repair. My wife and I are extremely happy with how everything turned out.

Brutal experience with them back in 2022-2024. They were supposed to build a new rubber roof. It started leaking on 3 separate occasions (which btw was never fully fixed -- we moved on to different contractors who did address the issues). And like I said, it would take months for them to actually come back and attempt to fix anything. Often they'd come by, look at the damage, then I wouldn't hear from them for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, more damage continues to accrue to the walls and ceilings. The internal fixes they applied for the water damage were just patch jobs. They just plastered and painted over. Meanwhile, the insulation behind the wall was soaked and accrued black mold that we had to address later. Also worth pointing out a major blunder at the beginning of the project (see attached videos and pics). They opened up the roof, and left it open for multiple days without doing any work. Well of course a major rainstorm came by (which was on the weather forecast well in advance). Alll that water poured into the house in the middle of the night setting off fire alarms. It was a nightmare to deal with on my end.

We intended to have McInnis refinish approximately 1,600 sqft wood floors for us. Agree upon 50% down, 25% on final coat and final 25% after completion and drying of entire project. Have a SIGNED contract by both parties to this. My husband met with McInnis, showed him our house, gave him a check for 50% of the total job up front. McInnis indicated he would start on the Saturday after we closed on our house. We thought it was great because that meant we could move in that much faster. Day 1: No Show - texted hours later saying he'd be in the next day. Day 2: McInnis and one helper arrive, indicate they will stay for as long as it takes to make up for the previous day to keep us on our timeline. Husband and I leave, return 12 hours later to find only 30 minutes of work had been done. Day 3: Helper arrives alone. I ask if anyone is joining him and if he could call them on speaker so I could hear for myself they were indeed coming. "Other person" confirmed they were on their way. We call McInnis, he says he's on his way. We say we're picking up some breakfast and will be back in 25 minutes. We get back and all the equipment is GONE. Helper is GONE. I immediately call him. **He then proceeds to ignore my calls, sends a text informing me all communication will be via text "So there's no.** He agrees to come back and continue the work, work which he's already been paid to do. He does a rough sand (does not include edges) of two out of the 8 spaces. As we found out that evening when we came back to inspect the progress. We had other sub contractors coming in to do work once the floors were completed. Day 4: "Don't rush over (to let us in), no one is answering my calls." - McInnis talking about his helpers. Day 5: Morning text - demands we give him more money, otherwise he's not coming back. He is NO WHERE NEAR the 50% deposit. No to mention, this is not what we agreed upon in our contract. At all times we were more than happy to pay him. He just didn't do it or show up. Long story short: - He stopped replying to texts. - We had to find another contractor - New contractor estimated McInnis performed about $500 worth of work - We had to pay additional $7000, on top of the $3000 deposit I paid McInnis, to finish the floors - Went to small claims court to try to recoup any of our money. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Hire a reputable hardwood floor installer. We have not seen a single dime returned from McInnis.
