First time at this location, reviews were good so I was confident to make an appointment and have a good experience, so take this as you wish. Purchased a facial Groupon and didn't have any problems making the appointment, however, I arrived for my appointment 5 minutes early and did not get seen until 25 minutes after my appointment was set to begin. No apology about waiting or anything. Once I was in the back, things started off great, the esthetician asked about the areas I was to focus on and we began. Once we began, it seemed as if she was not sure what steps or product to use and when. There was a lot of gaps in between the products, more than I've experienced with other estheticians. At one point a product was left on too long and had dried and she had to wet her hands in order to get it off as the warm cloth was also now cold from sitting out while she was on her phone. At another point during the appointment I thought she had left and I opened my eyes only to see that she was giving herself a facial in front of the mirror! Not too sure if she was new, or someone that doesn't normally give facials, but I would not recommend her for someone to receive one. read more

I have visited this place in the past, under the previous owners. My sisters and I usually try different places for our bdays, and decided to go back to this place after being away for a few years. I was disappointed. my comments will be based on comparisons to the overall attention and services I have received from other estheticians that I have visited. Sha was nice but didn't introduce herself. she didn't place a pillow to put under my knees, though my sister who was in the same room was given a pillow. This would have helped as I felt uncomfortable as the hour progressed. She did not give an assessment of my skin, before proceeding or during the service, which I have usually received from others (eg, I see a lot of congestion, face is oily/dry, I'm going to apply this, may I offer this extra service, and so on). However she did ask me if I was allergic to anything and if the towels were too hot. Otherwise she was quiet. At the end, I didn't feel that my face was hydrated at all and I was not offered any water. I went home later that day and found a lot of blackheads still remaining around my nose area. Overall, I was disappointed with the facial (no glow) and tip was out of courtesy not a job well done. I purchased a Groupon as a first time customer. I scheduled an appointment for use of my Groupon. When I went in at the scheduled time, they didn't have my appointment so I could not be seen. I wasn't even given a later time as an option or anything to rectify the situation. They said their manager would call me. They never called me. I called a few days later to follow up, but they said they would call me back. When they did, they left me a message about something unrelated to my concern, as if they called the wrong person back. I called to schedule an appointment a few weeks later to still try to had my Groupon, they said they would call me back, but never did. Not sure what else to do at this point but try to get a refund or lose out on the money bc it's past the timeframe for a refund. What a poorly run business! read more

This is my first time here and I'm glad I went l. I found them on a Groupon and tried it. The place is really nice and clean on the inside. I went in and the guy at the front desk waa really nice and friendly. My massage guy was Chris and he is the best massage person I've ever had. I had the 60 min massage with the aromatherapy oil and I wish I had gotten it for longer time. Chris was absolutely awesome and massage my achy back and neck. There today. Arrived early. Female customer was already in waiting area and NOT wearing a mask. Her therapist approached and directed her to the rear without asking about her lack of mask. I looked at man at front desk and he said nothing to customer either (+ he was wearing his mask below his nose). One minute later employee came out of back area wearing mask around her neck. She placed it correctly over her face after she and I made eye contact. About two minutes later a male customer exits from rear area wearing NO mask at all. He interacts with male rep at front desk (who is still wearing his mask below his nose). Rep even tries to sell him massage package but says nothing about customer's lack of mask. Customer leaves. I asked rep at desk if masks are required for customers. He said yes. I told him I'd been in waiting area for less than eight minutes and had seen two customers without masks. He said he didn't know why customers were not wearing mask, and it wasn't a concern because no one else was present. I told rep that I was present. He said I was standing six feet away so in his opinion, it was fine. I told him I didn't feel safe given what I'd witnessed and would not be patronizing this business. He said that was my peragotive. Aside from front desk rep, I saw three other employees in the short time that I was in the waiting room. Two were wearing masks correctly, and the third one, as I previously mentioned, only put it on after she saw me looking at her. I'd patronized this business pre-Covid and was looking forward to reestablishing myself as a customer. That obviously won't be happening. Others, please very wary of this business. Update: to be clear, the woman who was in the waiting room when I arrived had nothing covering her mouth or nose. Nothing. I was there. I'm being honest. Back home our spa has a waiting room with hot towels and massage chairs while you wait for your massage and they give you snacks and wine. This place is everything you want in a massage spa experience. Upon my initial phone call to reserve my appointment to my arrival, it was great customer service by everyone I spoke with to confirm. My masseuse, Jeff, was wonderful. He hit all my pressure points and had very calm hands. The steam spa was soooo nice, and the place offered nice soft towels, lotion and amenities for you to use after your shower. Very nice staff. From the front desk throughout my massage, mani and pedi...everyone was polite and welcoming. The spa is clean, which is always a plus. I loved how I walked in and was immediately greeted. The gentleman introduced me to the lady who was going to perform my services and they were ready to get started right a way. I got the hot stone massage with aromatherapy and that was nice. I'm not sure if the aromatherapy was worth the additional $10, but it was fine. The massage was nice, however, I'm not too sure if the lady was a certified or trained masseuse. It would be nice if they played sounds a little louder because the walls are pretty thin so I was able to hear all the noise going on outside. That was annoying but I still tried to relax. My mani and pedi were good. They offered hot tea after a cop of water after my massage. One thing I was a little off about was the same woman who did my massage also did my nails. I've never had that happen in a spa so that was weird and helped to solidify my thought of her not being a trained/certified masseuse. I cannot express how grateful I am for their pain relief massages! This is the first time in three weeks my neck and shoulder have gone pain-free. The environment within the spa is very calming and everyone is very nice and respects that you are hurting and/or don't feel like socializing. You can either tip your therapist or Leave gratuity in an envelope up by the front desk. **Please remember to tip them on the full price and not the coupon/Groupon price if you choose to go that way. They deserve it! There is a comfy couch, water and tea in the waiting room. Little tip: there are a few males on staff there, so if you are not comfortable with a male make sure you say so. Decided to have a No-Chip manicure while my husband had a massage for his sore back. BIG MISTAKE!!! Bea is the worst tech I've ever encountered. The website states the No-Chip is $35 but was charged $40 because "$5 is to remove the polish". Every salon I've ever gone to, this is included in the price of the manicure!! She began my manicure by wrapping my nails in acetone to remove the no-chip polish, she had to rewrap them again when the polish did not come off completely, and when that also didn't work, she decided to file the polish off my nails. The friction from the nail file being scraped against my nail beds was so hot, I had to have her stop several times. She then barked at me that this was the only was she could remove the polish!! What?? Really? When she finished with this torture, she then had me soak my throbbing fingers in what I assumed was warm water (she put little stones in the water which I assumed were hot stones to keeps water water), instead the water was ice cold. She barely trimmed my cuticles and did cut me in some areas. She asked if I wanted my nails trimmed down and I said yes. Instead of using clippers to cut them down, she again used the nail file to get them to a shorter length (2 of which were filed crookedly and each nail is a different length that the other, I have one short thumb nail and the other thumb has no nail length left). As she was doing the no-chip polish, she kept looking at her watch, like she had to be somewhere else. I asked if all was okay, and she said yes...no further talking from her....I wanted a 3rd coat of polish since the polish looked very light, she told me that they only put on 2 coats of polish. I could not wait to get out of there.....this woman should not be doing anyone's nails!! As I typing this I can still feel the pain in my fingers from this horrendous manicure!!! I was thoroughly enjoying this place and the customer service up until my last visit. This place holds a credit card on file so that if you miss an appointment, you're still held accountable for paying for that visit. However, I showed up one morning in the cold on my motorcycle with light rain outside after rearranging my entire day only to be told when I walked in the door that my massage therapist said she was going to be late. What I was offered from the host up front was to wait and see if her appointment after me would cancel, and then I could have that spot an hour after my scheduled appointment. Mind you, there's no guarantee that person would even cancel! I was also offered a male masseuse in place of my usual female one, which is a no for me. At no point did the parlor attempt to make right this issue beyond the above suggestions, which were subpar to say the least. As far as I'm concerned, it's hypocritical to charge customers for a visit they didn't make, but do nothing when the role is reversed. That leave a bad taste in my mouth. read more

So we read the reviews and were a little cautious. My husband bought me a gift certificate a year ago and life got in the way. Finally got to use it today. On the actual gift certificate it says it expires in 180 days from purchase. If you know Illinois state law this is illegal. So we kind of took it as it was probably a standard certificate that was printed out and felt confident we should be okay. As of July 2008 Illinois business statutes basically state that gift certificates cannot expire and no money can be reduced from them for carrying over the next year. Let me be clear, gift certificate is ABSOLUTELY different than groupon. No law to govern groupon. So I walked in a little apprehensive. I had absolutely no reason to be. The owner Dan didn't even blink an eye at the expiration date which goes to show his level of professionalism. He was friendly and supportive. Helped us fill out our paperwork and got us right in. Part of this was we showed up 15 minutes early as requested. Facilities are clean, warm, and comfortable. Ambiance was calm and inviting begins your prep for relaxing. We chose the couples massage. My husband was so relaxed he fell asleep. B got deep into his muscles. Shauna was the bees knees. Just the right amount of pressure. Found places I didn't know hurt and relieved the knots. We enjoyed it so much we walked out and booked another massage. I think this will be a regular treat for us a couple. Take care of your self and your marriage kind of deal. Just for comparison I am not a 1st time massage person. I have been to Mario Tricoci, Massage Envy, local mom & pop places, massage on cruises, massage in hotels on vacation. After a busy holiday season, I was finally able to embrace my b-day relaxation gift certificate to Ultimate Massage. It is a cozy spa with Zen-like sensibilities in a strip mall next to a pizzeria. The parking is ample and the staff is super courteous. The only reason I didn't award a five star rating was due to the missed opportunity with the steam shower. After a relaxing 70 minute massage (certificate said 80 minutes but who's counting anyway) i decided to enjoy a shower before my drive home. I didn't notice until after the shower that guests are not provided any lotions or moisturizing goodies. So needless to say, I am spoiled and prefer to be pampered from beginning to end on my spa day! Fell upon Ultimate Massage Spa on Groupon as a fluke, never been there before but my back is in massive amounts of pain so I called at 9am and got an appt at 11:15am (without the Groupon but I didn't care). Waited maybe 5 minutes in the lobby, probably less. Pearl greeted me and we headed back. She told me she's personally not at 100% due to an accident a few days prior. Just left this establishment and already compelled to leave this review. Sigh. Story below, of course. I called on 6/16/17 to get an appointment for a couples massage, I read about a "champagne special" online that stated you receive a massage for 2 and enjoy a bottle of champagne for 150. A man named Dan answered the phone. He wasn't rude, but very short. I tried to get more details on our massage and what to expect, considering I've never done this before, but dan did not seem interested in explaining. However he was very quick to take down my card information and remind me that I will be charged FULL FEE of the appointment if I cancel in less than 24 hours. Harsh!! (Not a great way to get someone to make an appointment again, god forbid you need to cancel due to an emergency!) he did get me in the next day for an appointment though, so 1 star for that. 6/17/17 we come in for our appointment. We were seen on time. The room was clean, our bottle of champagne was on the table but we were unable to drink it before our massage because "they didn't want to rush us." Our massage therapists were nice and seemed knowledgeable in their field, so there's the other star. However our massages were 45 minutes, not the hour that we paid for. Yes I timed them. Maybe this is normal? Like, they calculate the time we take to get undressed and redressed in it? Idk. Still disappointing. At the end of the appointment they left the room and told us to relax and enjoy our bottle of champagne. We cracked open the bottle, it was a cheap sugary moscato but I didn't expect much more. 20 minutes into us enjoying our champagne, we get a knock on the door from an Asian woman asking "are you guys done?? We need to use this room!" Exact words. I was appalled. We had 20 minutes to drink our champagne on what was supposed to be a romantic date night. I feel we paid a decent amount of money and should have been given a little more time. Now we are at checkout. The same Asian lady is checking us out, and asks me if I'm tipping on my card or in cash. Wtf!!! Mind you, I'm a very firm believer in tipping, and had every intention on tipping our therapists. (And I did leave them a decent tip!) But to ask a customer for a tip is so unprofessional and uncomfortable! Shame on this establishment for making people uncomfortable in a place where relaxation is advertised. Other things I noticed: they advertised complimentary steam showers before/after your massage.
