The lady was super sweet and said that I should keep it as close to my natural shape but she could clean it up and angle it slightly more. I appreciated how honest she was! She evened out my eyebrows (after years of plucking, one was actually slightly bigger than the other). She also gave me this lotion temple massage when I was done. The place was relatively busy, with 5-6 workers and each helping somebody. It was $12 for the eyebrows and they accept credit!

I am someone who doesn't go to a salon often, so this was really special to me and I wanted my hair to look nice. Shana seems very well experienced, but when I told her how I would like my hair done she seemed frustrated (it was her first time working on my hair, I was not trying to offend her in any way, I just know my hair and how it works). I told her that my hair gets very frizzy and curls form after a day if I only blow dry, so I usually have to put a flat iron to my hair in order for it to stay put. Most of my appointment was quiet, she barely talked to me and she seemed very annoyed. When I told her about how my hair curls and gets frizzy, she snapped at me and said "i know how to do hair, i've been doing it for X amount of years". I stayed silent for the rest of my visit, paid, and left. The next day my curls returned (as I expected) and I felt like I paid that money for nothing. I would of loved the experience if she had listened to me, I was not trying to tell her how to do her job, but I knew it was her first time working on my hair and thought she would appreciate me letting her know how my hair works. The salon is beautiful and offers many services, but the attitudes there need to be a little better. I'm a hijabi and I liked this salon since it is hijab-friendly (one of the very few in my area), but I feel because of this experience it'll be so awkward if I go back to her.

My friend Devon F who is my guru for all things beauty related recommended the Anastasia Brow Studio at Tysons so I immediately decided to book an appointment using their easy online system. The hardest part of my appointment was looking for parking in the Tysons Corner parking lot. Maryam took me to her small beauty counter inside Nordstroms and lay me down for a consultation. What I really appreciated was that she took the time to measure my brows and stencil out what the end result would look like so I knew I'd be satisfied before she even got to work. The Anastasia brand believes in the beauty of full brows so I did not have to worry about looking like Kate Moss circa 1993. Maryam explained the whole process to me while working and had the gentlest touch -- it barely hurt at all! She also mentioned how I should maintain upkeep at home so I can eventually get to my full brow power level in a few months. I was super impressed!
