I have been getting my hair done with Angela at the salon for five years now and she does an amazing job every single time! We've done many cuts and colors and it always turns out exactly how I want it. Each time I want to do something new to my hair, she explains the process of what we need to do to get the results I'm looking for. My visit to the Ulta at Park Place this evening was wonderful. I had an appointment to get my brows done, so I came in early to browse, and test a product I'd been curious about. The shopping experience has improved dramatically since my last visit! There were some new lines to explore, and the staff were welcoming and helpful, directing me to the mascara I was looking for and just not seeing. There were a few icky and/or misplaced testers,, which could have sucked if you were there specifically to try those products. Two items I would have purchased were sold out, but I ended up testing a cream and buying a couple things I needed. Checkout was a breeze. Sophia was my cashier, and she was incredibly friendly and sweet. On to the main reason for my visit - a brow wax. WOW!!! I can't stress enough how incredible Anjelica is at what she does! Nobody else does brows this well, not even close. The first time, she threaded them, and I was really happy with the results, but we decided to go with waxing this time, and again, I'm thrilled. 10/10 experience for the second time, so it's no fluke. Anjelica is very skilled, and incredibly careful, patient, and precise. It also helps that she's got a great personality. Very cool, great conversation. I highly recommend treating yourself to an appointment with her. The service is top notch, and the prices are very reasonable. read more

I went in looking for a moisturizer and found one from Provence beauty. It was 2oz for about $20, so I expected it to be worth the money. I understand that employees can't know of every single item that's been opened, but if I'm paying a high price for 2oz of moisturizer, I at least expect the seal on the inside of the pot to be intact. Instead, it seemed to have been opened and there is moisturizer all over the threading of the pot and lid, and it definitely looks like someone decided to test it. I'm aware that it's a common occurrence, but I didn't expect one in the very middle to have been tested. I'm disappointed and I'm nervous to use it because I don't know whose fingers have been in my moisturizer. I'll be attempting to return it but I'm not sure I'll be purchasing anything else from this Ulta now or in the future. read more

This review is specifically for one stylist at the Broadway, Tucson Ulta location. A friend recommended her stylist, Angela, who did a lovely job on my friend's hair. It was 2 months ago but I was so shocked by how I was treated that I didn't have the energy to get this review out until now. First, I was informed that haircut appointments were an hour. Angela was over 15 mins late. At Ulta, you can see the workstations of the stylists clearly. I could see Angela chatting with the previous client the whole 15 mins. I waited patiently assuming that I would still get the time allotted. Second, as I told Angela what I needed and how frustrated I was and what I needed done to my hair, with very clear photos, she stood there looking extremely annoyed. Then she abruptly cut me off and told me that I was there for a HAIRCUT. I explained that I wanted to give her the whole picture before I made a 2nd appointment for highlights. She then rudely and condescendingly told me that my haircut was the same one I was asking for. When I told her it looked completely different from the photos I had provided, she kept insisting I was wrong and she was the wrong stylist for me. Third, she then proceeded to blame me for taking so long to explain things and now there wasn't enough time to do a haircut. I pointed out how long she kept me waiting and she ignored me and proceeded, for a 3rd time, to tell me she was not the stylist for me. WHO does that??? I know I should have walked out but I really needed a haircut. She finally decided to do it, telling me the whole time it wasn't her fault if it didn't turn out. Fourth, she barely washed my hair. I think a lot was still dry underneath. She whisked me in and out, rushing to get through the appointment, I guess. Fifth, I had neglected to tell her I knew my friend, a regular customer of hers, and you should have seen the change that came over her. It was if now she was okay with doing my hair. Wow. Sixth, she wisked through my haircut and I was escorted out within 40 mins of being seated. Just a few days after this, I went to another stylist recommended to me on Nextdoor. She told me that my hair was not cut right and spent a long time correcting it. So I got to pay for 2 haircuts in a row because of my experience at Ulta. read more

I have been going to Ulta for many, many years, but after my last visit I will not be returning. At the checkout I selected to print my receipt and was quite insulted to be lectured by the little girl behind the counter on my need to "Save the Planet" and not select a printed receipt. I informed the cashier Layla that I had been a stout recycler for over 30 years and needed the receipt because it was a new, high priced item that might have to be returned. I DID NOT go to Ulta for a lecture from some little twit who probably drove her car to work (I carpooled) and felt she needed to get her pseudo eco warrior message out to a paying customer who had done more to date to save the planet than she probably will in her entire lifetime! read more

I recently ordered online, changed my address in the system, and checked put with PayPal. Apparently, the shipping address defaulted back to the address on file with my PayPal account. Ulta is refusing to refund my money or check to see if the package was returned by whoever received it. I went into the store all nervous and awkward (sorry, Angelica) about asking an MUA to help this 41 year old learn how to do a cat eye or winged eye look. I needed outside help because I've tried myself and failed multiple times, and so I just gave up. (My eyes seem to be terrible for these styles - I've got hooded and round eyes and anytime I've tried to achieve one of these looks, my shapes turn out all crappy and they look just sad and BAD.) I had lost hope until I walked up to Angelica. She took the time and worked with me to find THE BEST shape for my crappy eye structure. Somehow she just knew how to shape the eyeliner for my type of eyes. She thoroughly walked me through the steps of applying the liner, and went beyond to give me other tips. I walked in for an eyebrow wax without an appointment. We weren't greeted by anyone and, when we found the waxing station, I sat down and waited while the esthetician worked on a customer. I was asked if I had an appointment and I said that I didn't. She told me "that's ok." So... I waited for about 15 minutes, being totally ignored. At 12:15, another customer came in with a 12:20 appointment. We left and nobody seemed to notice or care. I get that I'd need to wait if I didn't have an appointment but it's not hard to tell me that it would be a while so I could decide whether to wait or not. Instead, I wasted my time. I was planning on getting wedding makeup done here but not after being treated so poorly. Poor form, Ulta. Poor form. read more

This rating is mostly for their Salon. I got a haircut/ style from Elvia today for $52. Although it's a bit more then other stylist there her experience was well worth it. After having an unfortunate haircut at a different Salon (Mila's on grant), Elvia was able to repair the damage. I usually get long layers and got a botched job. Thank Goodness Elvia was able to blend in the damage to make my hair look better then decent. I would definitely recommend her services for styles. Elvia spoke from experience and wasn't trying to sell me on particular styles for the money but rather was honest on what would look good. My faith has been restored. read more

I had popped into this store for small things here and there, but I recently got my hair done here, and it turned out to be a great experience. I made a haircut appointment online and received a call that the stylist I'd chosen no longer worked at that time, so I rescheduled with a new stylist an hour later. When I showed up for my appointment, they told me I was an hour late (apparently the appointment never got changed in their system). I was pretty perturbed because it wasn't my mistake, but the lady was super apologetic and offered to fit me in as soon as she could. I went to Starbucks and had an iced tea, pretty annoyed that my day now centered around this hair appointment. When I came back, they had set me up with Elvia, a master stylist, and she was very nice and did an amazing job. We also talked about our dogs, and if you tell me about your dog, I pretty much automatically like you! Although she was a level-3 stylist (they cost more than the others who have less experience), they only charged me the cost of a level-1 for the mixup and gave me a promotional price, which I had no idea was even going on. They really went above and beyond to fix the appointment snafu. read more

Let me start by saying I've gotten my hair cut here for a year now and had lots of very good experiences. Unfortunately this time I had a not so great one. After about 6 months of growing my hair out to get a different than usual cut, I finally had the length I wanted for a soccer players mullet. My wife was on board, I was excited! We got there for my appointment and showed Rocio some pictures of what I was looking for. She nodded and acknowledged that what I was asking for was long on top, short bangs, shaved sides and long in the back. She put the smock on me and IMEDIATELY PROCEEDED TO CUT ALL OF THE HAIR ON THE BACK OF MY HEAD OFF! I was shocked but it was too late so I didn't say anything. She then accidentaly got my beard with the trimmers and tried to cover it up by saying "are you sure you don't want a little beard trim? I'll do it for free." Again it was too late so I allowed it. She just ran the clippers over my face with the same guard as my head since that's what she bush whacked a chunk of it out with. Afterwards She kept cutting my hair.. and cutting and cutting until eventually I had the hair cut of an 8 year old boy in 2006. My wife also had an appointment for a hair cut at the same time as mine with a different stylist. WhiIe I was waiting I watched Rocio give THE SAME HAIR CUT to a elementary school boy. So long story short, DO NOT GET A MENS CUT FROM ROCIO She will cut it however she sees fit and disregard your actual wishes. Why the one star- because of the manager and a couple of staff not all I started coming here last year; never really went to Ulta until then. After a couple of months one of the girls would remember me and vice versa. Each time she always gives me tips and advice etc After going for so long at least 3 times if not more a month, I started noticing who was only nice when they wanted to. About 3 of them stand out to me, they're always so nice and explain and actually help with what they can I understand it's super busy since its in the mall and it's fast paced, we all want assistance though when it comes down to purchasing these expensive products, it's not like we aren't paying the amount I was in there earlier, typical interaction with the girl I mentioned earlier, as I was asking about which styling tool to get, I noticed there was a woman looking for a hair dryer but kept walking around. Suddenly the manager looks at our direction about 10 feet away and over the mic says "help this lady" I didn't react, just told the girl it was ok to go but then to think about it, that was rude ! Why couldn't she help her instead of adding this stress on her staff! I really dislike managers that are like that. An example should be given. I love shopping at Ulta! Sorry Sephora, but this place is more affordable and it has the best of both worlds (drug store cosmetics and name brand cosmetics)! I usually purchase cosmetics from Two Faced, Urban Decay, Anastasia Beverly Hill, and Smashbox. These are all the same brands that Sephora sells, but I can just grab my drug store favorites while I'm at it. The service here has always been great - friendly, knowledgable, and professional! Not once have I not been offered their service or had a bad experience. The reason I didn't give them a 5th star is because of their salon service. My hair dresser lacked the appropriate skills to provide me with the specific style I was going for. She ended up cutting my friend's hair and mine the same way. We clearly had different visions on the way we wanted our hair to look, too. Chop chop, snip snip and my long hair is gone. Haha. We live and we learn for next time, right? This store should be avoided if you have a significant other that likes make-up, hair, skin, nails, and smelling great ;) They various brands of make-up (Benefit, ULTA, Bare Minerals, Urban Decay, etc.) hair products, nail polishes, facial masks/cleansers/toners, and perfumes. WOW right? I like this store; however I find that it's difficult to get help when looking for a product in this store (they don't have Benefit's foundation on the sales floor; possibly to avoid theft?) So I frequently have to play hide and seek with the employees here. Other than that, their prices are reasonable and the store is very organized. read more

Great customer service!! I shopped here several times when I visited Tucson this summer. The selection is fantastic (sooo many tempting things!) and the staff is really friendly and helpful. I had a couple of problems using a coupon on the ULTA website (long story..the website simply would not let me use the coupon, no matter what I tried). So I brought the coupon with me into the store, and asked if there was any way I could use it there. Even though it was an online only coupon, the staff was sympathetic, and made sure that they found a way to give me the same discount. That was above and beyond the normal service level and very appreciated! One of the girls also helped me choose a mascara, and she was very knowledgeable and friendly. In contrast, I have also visited Sephora in the Tucson mall and was NOT impressed (though I like the European Sephora shops and Sephora in NYC). The selection was terrible compared to ULTA and the staff was rude and ice cold. After one visit I decided it was ULTA in the Park Place Mall that would get my business during the month I was in Tucson! read more

I've come to Ulta so many times it's not funny (especially for my wallet). I'll admit the service I receive is usually pretty mixed. Some ladies are so nice and extremely helpful, but other's can be very annoyed and you have to chase them down for help. Last night though was a completely different experience. I was floored by one associate. I didn't catch her name, but she helped me try on 6 different foundations, gave me her honest opinion and was extremely knowledgeable. She also got some Clinique on a pad and helped me wipe everything off. Once I chose a foundation color, she then offered to grab me two bottles. She didn't seem bothered or unwilling to help me. I could tell she had a lot of restocking to do, but she still took time to help me. This was the best customer service experience and it makes me want to come back and shop again. read more

We then he had to handle something and gave me to the lead cashier I think Lindsey and what a mess, she asked for my date of birth and when I told her 9-22 she kept scrolling on her little machine asking me again and I told her againnn 9-22 and she looks up at me and with nasty look and condensed ing tone "July" I said no and she said you mean July? Her facial Expressions and tone while speaking to me un except able in any situation. It was not my fault she was made to assist me and not my fault she did not know 9-22 means September 22 not July!
