Horrible service the lady was more concerned on her conversation with the other lady who was waiting for her son haircut then even greeting us, I normally take my son to ll sons for men where they do a great job and only costs $30 but I was waiting to get my nails done next door so thought we just try it. The lady botched my son's hair and cut his neck up, I get a little nick on accident but this really, she did not care at all. And the total come out to $28 so not worth it go to ll sons for men! read more

I've been going to Cost Cutters on Houghton & Broadway for years because it is the closest place to my house. I recently went in for a haircut with an appointment. Monica Oliva ended up being my "stylist" and I have to say that I have never had a bad experience there before this recent visit. Monica was far from friendly and pretty rude. She made me feel as though my request was ridiculous even though I asked for what I usually ask for at every visit. I sat in silence while she angrily cut my hair and 10 mins later she rang me up without so much as a thank you for coming in. I paid the $22 and she receive no tip. I recently went to this location for a hair cut without an appointment as the online scheduling tool was down. I was told when I arrived and, fair enough, that they were not accepting walk ins for the rest of the day. I am fine that they couldn't accommodate my request but the staff member was rude and off-putting. Everybody has an off day, but my experience was so unpleasant that I won't go back. My hair feels amazing! Automatically the stylists knew what my hair needed. My hair had a lot of static - so she lacked in moisture. There was a deal the day I went and I only spent $25 on the LARGE shampoo and conditioner. We chopped off the dry ends and now my hair feels so alive!! read more

I got there as a walk- in and was seated immediately, my hairdresser was Penny and we began to talk about my dull lifeless curls. Penny has daughters/grand daughters with my style hair, I knew then I came to the right place! She freshened up my curls without taking too much length and suggested products without being pushy. My mom and I have been going to this Cost Cutters for years. Today I booked an online appointment for 11:40am. I showed up early. Monica was on the phone booking another appointment. When she was done she walked back to the person she was working on. Never acknowledged me, said anything at all. She proceeds to talk to the other hairstylist and customers about how the online keeps booking appointments even though both of them are doing colors. All 4 get into a discussion about this while I can hear them. So basically instead of being a professional and letting me know there was an error in the system can we book for another time. Just keep talking and making me feel like I am an inconvenience and no longer want me as a client. Okay, got it. You just lost 2 loyal clients who were willing to follow you when you opened your new salon. read more

When I first arrived there Nicolle was not nice at all. I had made an appointment for a haircut but when I arrives I was wondering if I can also get my hair dyed as well. Nicolle told me that she will not have time but she responded in an extremely rude way. So I showed her what haircut I wanted and the length of it as well and I did not receive what I asked for. My hair is a lot shorter than what I wanted it to be and it is not the style I asked for either. I am not satisfied with her work what so ever. After I lost my last stylist at a different salon, I'm so very happy to have found Monica at this Cost Cutters! Monica always makes me leave looking polished. I showed her a couple photos, once, and that time, as well as every time thereafter, she knocks it out of the park. She is fast, but not rushed. Very precise and detail oriented, so I always walk out looking my best. She usually just asks if we are doing the same thing or if I want something different. She really listens and my hair has never looked better than after she's done with it. I only go in for a haircut, but she always styles my hair for me, before I leave, which I consider an added bonus, since that's not part of the basic haircut service. That way I know how good it "should" and can look. I usually go online and select my appointment, then, follow up with a phone call, to make sure the online system is accurate. Staff is always friendly. I did try a different stylist, once, because Monica was not working that day, and I was not as pleased. The other stylists do good work, I just "mesh" better with Monica. As with all Cost Cutters they have a convenient location, located in the old Basha's grocery store area. I've been here several times for hair cuts. If you come on non busy day you can expect no wait, however on busy days I've seen waits as long as 30 minutes. The staff seems to change quite often, I always see new faces when I go in every 4 months or so. The salon isn't as professional as most higher end salons. While waiting one of the stylists was on the work phone speaking to a friend and was cussing and gossiping as customers were inside. I found it very unprofessional... Either way if you want a quick haircut this is one of your various choices in Tucson. read more

Booked appointment online shampoo and cut pretty simple I thought! Sat down on the chair and Lisa started to spray my hair wet! I said I requested a shampoo also. She was apologetic and shampooed my hair! The shampoo was mediocre I didn't feel the shampoo hit my scalp once and the rinse was barely nothing. I can feel the shampoo and conditioner still in my hair I just thought I'll wash it when I get home do a thorough job. Online it said $20 but low and behold inserting my debit card the total bill had added four more dollars on for sanitization not sure if this is across-the-board in all hair salons but that should've been made aware when I was booking it online just like it said the cut would be $20 with a shampoo. I won't be back at cost cutters again. The whole experience was very frustrating. The location is also only wanting cash only but they did except my card they were just running out of cash to give change back to people. read more

I just moved to the area and needed a haircut in the worst way. My stepmother said that she had good luck here so I thought why not? I went in on Tuesday around one. There was a young lady at the counter and another in a chair nearby. Courtney, I asked her name on the way out, asked my name and said she could do it. I was a bit put off by the non-greeting but what did I expect. She had to find a waterbottle to wet my hair, asked what I wanted and started cutting. There was no small talk at all. I was surprised that she didn't say, "how are you today" or "nice weather." I got nothing. What I did get though was a pretty good haircut. Small talk can be over-rated. She said she would rather cut a little and cut more than to cut too much and not be able to fix it. I walked out with a wet head but really for 7.95 what else could I want? A smile when I walked in would have been nice but I plan to go back the next time I need a cut. Just hope Courtney is still there. If you want a quick, well done haircut and nothing else, this place is great. read more

A very polite sweet stylist went haywire on my long hair and when I spoke to the manager Monica explaining this will take at least two years to grow back and I would like a refund her response was "I'm sorry for you," She refused to refund my money and was incredibly unprofessional. Monica is not socially capable of being in a management position. This experience lead to my very first time calling a corporate office. This is far from a professional salon. read more
