I don't think This is the salon that has been reviewed...There are only two chairs. No happy vibe…read more No art. Not welcoming. In fact, I was made to feel bad about asking for what I wanted. I brought pictures, described how I wanted it cut and the shape I was after. No one made sure I was understood. Young Sarah, sweetheart, told me she would dry cut it. I objected. She talked me into it and started cutting 4" long pieces out Willy nilly. After seeing the first section all frizzy, I tried to stop it but was talked back into it. Emma, the owner in the other chair, interrupted her own client's haircut to chew me out for asking for what I wanted, even telling me to cut my own hair if I didn't like it! Sarah, now embarrassed for me, assured me it would come out right. Although shape is better it's not what I wanted. I asked to keep all the length and let NG layers blended at the bottom--a no brainer. It's shorter overall by 2 inches, have frizz where there should be gentle layers, it's uneven--but I am okay with the cut. It's just not what I wanted or asked for. I will have to grow it out for months before it can be cut properly. Sarah actually can cut hair (her way) and did give me a somewhat workable cut that looks cute after I finesse it with heat tools- trying to hide that frizz and unevenness. But it was Emma who really made me feel bad. I cried walking out the door.

Yelp Review - 1 Star…read more I rarely, if ever, leave negative reviews, but my experience here was so disappointing that I feel obligated to share it. I arrived on time for a scheduled appointment for highlights and a haircut. After my hair was washed, I met briefly with the owner. She spent most of the consultation speaking to a junior stylist and asked me very few questions. I clearly explained that I wanted highlights that would hide my gray hair and a flattering cut (I gave specifics about the cut). During that consultation, a woman walked in and announced that she did not have an appointment but wanted to see if she could be accommodated. To my surprise, the owner decided to take the walk-in client first, leaving me sitting in the chair waiting for approximately 45 minutes while she highlighted the other woman's hair. When she finally returned to me, the consultation remained minimal and rushed. Throughout the appointment she continually moved between multiple clients, rarely focusing on any one person for long. The entire visit lasted 4 1/2 hours despite the fact that I have very short hair. Unfortunately, the results were the worst haircut and color I have ever received. Rather than blending my gray hair, the highlights emphasized it and left my hair looking noticeably grayer. The haircut itself was uneven and impossible to style. The result was so poor that I eventually returned to my longtime hairdresser in Pasadena, more than seven hours away, to have it corrected. He was genuinely shocked by the quality of the cut and tried his best to repair it. What surprised me most is that this salon has so many positive reviews. My experience was the exact opposite. The salon appears to be a victim of its own popularity, too many clients being scheduled at once, insufficient attention to individual customers, not respecting people's time, and not enough time spent listening to what clients actually want. Being kept waiting while a walk-in client was served first, combined with the poor communication, lack of attention, and disappointing results, made this one of the worst salon experiences I have ever had. I do want to add that the other staff were friendly - it was the only good thing about the visit. Oh - and they offered wine. I would rather a good cut and highlights than wine, any day. I will not be returning.

I've been seeing Mariah for a few years now and can't recommend her highly enough. She is an expert at styling hair for both men and women. I've referred a couple of friends to her and they were very happy with the work she did. She does hair cuts, coloring and something called "balayage" for ladies. I don't know what that means but it looked dope when my BFF got it done. My hair is my most important feature. And while it's always gorgeous with a natural shine and bounce that would make any man or woman jealous, even a Ferrari needs a car wash from time to time. And just like you wouldn't trust your Ferrari to just anyone, I wouldn't continue returning to Mariah if she wasn't great at what she did. She knows my hair very well and always adjusts the cut to perfectly fit my fat face. But even at my first visit I was impressed by how she got my look down right away. I took in a picture of Christian Bale's hair from when he played Bruce Wayne and Mariah sent me on my way with my own beautiful, dreamy, Christian Bale-y look. And that's another thing, she's a movie buff so I always love getting my haircut during either Oscar season or Summer Blockbuster season because we can chat about the new movies that are playing. She makes great conversation if you're into that. But don't worry if you're terrified of talking to strangers. She's very intuitive about that and if you just want to get in and out with some awesome looking hair and not have a whole conversation she won't push you and make you feel weird. You know those stylists. We've all had 'em. Don't call the studio's main phone line. Nobody answers that. Mariah schedules all of her appointments herself. So you can text her directly at 520-668-3524. As of this writing she works Weds-Sat. If you want some samples of her work you should follow her Instagram: @thesanecatlady. (That's also one of my favorite IG handles.) Take it from me. My hair has always been naturally beautiful but somehow Mariah made it even better. Now I'm a total stud with amazing locks that all the ladies love.
