I see sarah here at belle starr salon. she is always so kind and accommodating! I told her to go crazy because i didn't really have a vision in mind and she did not disappoint. the only thing i wanted was a flower on my shaved sides and i think it turned out wonderfully. Emma and sarah are both so kind and amazing, i recommend this place to everyone looking for a good cut and color in tucson. read more

I don't think This is the salon that has been reviewed...There are only two chairs. No happy vibe. No art. Not welcoming. In fact, I was made to feel bad about asking for what I wanted. I brought pictures, described how I wanted it cut and the shape I was after. No one made sure I was understood. Young Sarah, sweetheart, told me she would dry cut it. I objected. She talked me into it and started cutting 4" long pieces out Willy nilly. After seeing the first section all frizzy, I tried to stop it but was talked back into it. Emma, the owner in the other chair, interrupted her own client's haircut to chew me out for asking for what I wanted, even telling me to cut my own hair if I didn't like it! Sarah, now embarrassed for me, assured me it would come out right. Although shape is better it's not what I wanted. I asked to keep all the length and let NG layers blended at the bottom--a no brainer. It's shorter overall by 2 inches, have frizz where there should be gentle layers, it's uneven--but I am okay with the cut. It's just not what I wanted or asked for. I will have to grow it out for months before it can be cut properly. Sarah actually can cut hair (her way) and did give me a somewhat workable cut that looks cute after I finesse it with heat tools- trying to hide that frizz and unevenness. But it was Emma who really made me feel bad. I cried walking out the door. read more

I've been in to see Emma a few times now and can confidently say this best salon experience I've ever had. Along with great hair skills, the vibe of the salon is so welcoming and comfortable. I've gotten long layered look and a long bob, and have loved both styles. I brought in my niece for a fun and textured look with color and they also loved it. Absolutely recommend! read more

I needed an urgent hair appointment after a disappointing highlight treatment by a different salon. The owner of Belle Starr was very prompt and offered me a timely appointment. She was able to work with my hair to come up with a short term fix and I left happy! Gratuities are included in the price which was a first for me! I thought it was very reasonably priced and booked another appointment read more

Reasonable prices (for some one visiting Tucson from NY) and not too hard to get an appointment. Enjoyed.

Emma is the best stylist/cutter ~ she knows exactly what she's doing, listens attentively & makes sure you leave happy. Simply the best!

The absolute best salon in Tucson. Owner Cassie has the most infectious energy and the space she's created along with her team is so inviting and warm. The walls are filled with local art and the atmosphere is so unique. You can also purchase artisan items from local vendors in the salon. Aside from the salon setup itself, the hair that comes out of there is AMAZING. Cassie is one of maybe 2 people I've ever trusted with my hair and her hands-on teaching has created such a well-rounded staff of stylists that are incredibly equipped at providing the best service in town. read more

Excellent cut! Thank you Sarah. It was exactly what I wanted. It was quite a relief from the heat.

Cass is so sweet and took the time to listen to me, even when I didn't know exactly what I wanted/needed. I just had a hair cut done but she understood what I wanted and explained exactly what she was going to do and why she was going to do it and then after she was done took the time to explain how to style it so that I could achieve the look I wanted. The salon is super cute too, it's clean, well cared for and very homey! They are also supportive of community with the products they have and art work by local artists. Definitely a business worth supporting! read more

This place is freaking awesome. I moved to Tucson for college last year and have been getting my haircut by Sarah. Easy 10/10, I recommend them to anyone looking for a hair salon in Tuscon, probably the best salon experience I've ever had. read more

Be the BELLE of the ball, the STARR of your own show, with fresh locks from Belle Starr Salon. I am loooooving this new location, more character and pizzazz than your average salon, that's for sure! These ladies know their stuff, not just from fantasy colors, cool cuts, but also interior decorating and locally sourced gifts. Belle Starr has such a beautifully curated gift section, from local makers and artisans, and the cutest salon tees! I can't resist shopping a little everytime I come in for my bang trims (free for returning customers OMG). I can't say enough good things about the ladies who work here, they always remember to ask about my family and remember things I told them prior, and really make you feel special and at home. This salon is a welcome to change to the beauty industry, and I highly recommend to me, women, and your kiddos! They do it ALL. read more

Quaint, cute little salon with a casual, friendly, atmosphere. All the stylists and customers seemed happy and chatty. I booked through Yelp and Emma, the owner, was very responsive. The salon was initially a little hard to find--it's tucked back behind a couple businesses--but a quick call helped me locate it. Sarah, my stylist, gave me an excellent cut and showed me how to coax out natural waves for a low-maintenance, but updated look. The salon charges on a sliding scale but it's gratuity-free, which I wish more salons and spas would do. I am very pleased with my cut, so I paid at the higher end of the scale; at a price point in line with most salons. I am very pleased, so I plan on returning for my next trim. read more

I've been visiting Emma at her new salon, for the the biggest part of this year. I am SO happy to have found her and this great little salon. She's kind and incredibly intuitive with what you're wanting to happen with your hair. She takes her time and does wonders for my hair. Every visit to Belle Star feels like such a treat. I can't recommend this business enough! read more

Anna Jo has been making my hair magic for about three years now and I can genuinely say she is the best thing to ever touch my locks. Even now living across the country I still go see Anna Jo at Belle Starr when I am in town. She has such vision it is incredible. A true hair artist with exquisite talent. I am able to give her an idea of what I have in mind but trust her so much that I allow her to bring her own twist. I have extremely curly hair which can prove difficult sometimes, but she is so great with it. Not to mention this space is beautiful and cozy with rustic an vintage touches. I always leave feeling better about myself than before. I would recommend Anna Jo to anyone and everyone. *photo is most recent cut and color with a blow out. read more

Cass and her team at Belle Starr Salon are nothing short of spectacular. Belle Starr Salon - A pic from my haircut on my 35th birthday. - Hair Salons Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

My go to salon :) First of all they have a great central location and the salon itself is beautifully decorated and calming. There is local art up everywhere and even a little store with stuff for sale from local artisans. They do a great job supporting local Tucson businesses. Now...the hair! Cass is my holy grail stylist and understands not only what I want, but what I *need*! I can't count how many places I tried before I found Belle Starr. Cass takes the time to go over what look you're going for and how it will work with your particular hair type. She is open to all kinds of looks from classic chic to edgy and fun cuts. She will definitely make you laugh too! No one here is pretentious or a snob or trying to rush you out! The products she uses are definitely the good stuff, they smell like fresh herbs and flowers :) Overall a great experience at a good cost and you're supporting people who are working to make Tucson the best! read more

Anyone with curly hair knows, you can't truly love your city until you've found the perfect stylist... For me, Chelsea at Belle Starr Salon was the final piece to fall into place and solidify my adoration for the new city I call home! I found Chelsea when Belle Starr was in the old location on the East side. Since then, the salon has moved to a new mid-town space that is a delightful slice of Tucson culture. The "Keep Tucson Pretty" mural that greets you upon entering, is the perfect segue to the local art, jewelry and personal care products available for purchase. There is a comfy lounge that has a record player and pixie lights adorn the wash basin area. They even have a selection of soda water for guests! But none of that is what makes this place truly special... Chelsea is a true master of her craft! Since she has naturally curly hair herself, you don't have to worry about any of the "rookie" mistakes that can happen with other stylists. She is also an amazing colorist - the golden unicorn who can cut AND color with equal awesomeness! Being raised in Tucson, Chelsea has the natural gift of understanding the culture and style of this amazing city. As such, she is a wonderful collaborator and together we come up with some fun new ideas. All this and she one of the loveliest people I've ever met - I always have fun hanging with her while getting my hair done! Also, Belle Starr has a great website where you can easily book and change appointments online. If you are looking for a salon without any of the big salon BS and tons of good vibes, this is the place for you. read more

still unprofessional - you didn't try to call me or I would have had you in my recent calls. I didn't curse her I cursed the situation and left. Still you didn't call me- what business does that. Unacceptable just that simple. read more

I made an appointment via yelp. Confirmed appointment with the owner. I came to the salon at appointed time and it was locked. Called, messaged and emailed and waited 20 minutes. No one showed up. Two hours later the owner called and could not get me in prior to my leaving on a trip. She offered other places but no stylists and it was already late in the day on a Sunday. I am extremely disappointed in the customer service. I depended on this appointment and trusted the business-especially since it was women run. Beware read more

I could not say more nice things about Belle Starr Salon - it is WELL worth the drive out there! It almost feels like getting your hair cut at a resort it is so calm chill and pretty. I've never had my hair dyed before and Cass did an INCREDIBLE job with some GORGEOUS balayage action! It looks so natural, that people tell me my hair looks amazing and ask what I'm doing differently - it's all just Cass' magic. Highly recommend! read more

I've been here a few times now for trims and color and ALWAYS leave very happy! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Belle Starr. I've been seeing the owner, Cass, for my color for the past two years and she is so talented. She has taken me from platinum blonde, to creamsicle copper, to champagne blonde, to my current balayage golden blonde. With all that color you'd think my hair would be brittle and damaged but it's not because Cass is super knowledgeable, uses the best products, and offers effective deep conditioning treatments. In addition, her salon doubles as a community art space. There is always great local art for sale on the walls, the occasional yoga class where proceeds go to local community organizations, and beauty nights where you get to learn about and test products for free. I even won a jar of organic, vegan body scrub in a raffle at the last beauty night (super exciting for someone who never wins anything!). If you're looking for an authentic, hip, socially conscious, 100% local salon, Belle Starr is your place. read more

Cass knows how I feel about her because I can't stop gushing to her about her work, but I really want the rest of the Yelp world to know too. If you aren't seeing Cass for all your hair needs then you're hair is probably sad and mismanaged. I am so happy to have found her and Belle Starr Salon after roughly 6 years of hair sadness. Cass is the owner and rockstar behind her salon, and her style is truly great. She knows so much about the science of hair and hair products, is more than happy to share her knowledge with her clients, and her motto is that everyone should be able to style their own hair and make it look and feel how she styles it. My first time seeing her I walked away with beautiful hair unencumbered by tons of product, and was able to recreate the look she gave me without changing my daily routine too much. It seriously added no time. By the time I went in to have her touch up my hair a second time (about 6 weeks later) my hair felt so much healthier and I felt like I had accomplished something totally new: hair management. I am in love with this salon and Cass' care for my hair. I know Belle Starr is growing and I'm glad I found this salon when I did. Pro tip if you're looking to make an appointment: definitely be sure to book online in advance! read more

I absolutely love this salon. The space is beautiful and inviting and my hair stylist, Anna Jo, is a true gem. She is so patient when I explain what I want for my hair styling, cut and color. Through truly listening and taking her time she always makes the magic happen and I end up with a beautiful head of hair. I honestly feel like I've hit the salon jackpot- not only is Anna Jo wonderful with hair, she is extremely kind and fun to be around and the space is so wicked I wouldn't mind spending all day there. I really recommend Belle Starr Salon for cuts and color! read more

This is by far one of the best salon experiences I've ever had. Sounds weird but I usually get really nervous and intimidated when I go to salons but Belle Starr was a whole new ballgame. I felt so, so, comfortable in the space and the girls are SO sweet, fun, and quirky and I felt like I was finally among my people. The salon is in a little casita and it feels like you're at your cool friend's house getting a haircut. They even have a little fridge and kitchenette area where you can grab a Le Croix, coffee, or tea. I wanted to get my bangs cut with an edgy Bettie Page feel and I could tell Cass knew exactly what I was talking about and dude, she delivered. I felt so comfortable and trusted her because I could tell she knew exactly the look I was going for. She was so attentive and included me in the process so we could get the look JUST right. I seriously felt like I was on cloud 9 when I left because my haircut was PERFECT. No adjustment time for me to get used to it and learn to like it, just BAM! Instant confidence boost. I went straight to work after my haircut and literally everyone was just like OMG you look so COOL! So there you go, if you want to look cool and feel like an instant beauty, go to Belle Starr. Seriously, you will have found your new hair home. read more
