Disappointing customer service and lack of follow-through I have been trying to resolve an issue with an item from one of my orders since 2025. I contacted Ulta at that time and was told that they were working on resolving the issue. In 2026, I contacted Ulta again, and a representative accessed my order and confirmed that the item had never been shipped. She apologized for the situation and told me that I would receive either a refund or a reshipment, along with a follow-up email. However, I never received that email. I contacted Guest Services again, and the issue was escalated. Despite the previous confirmation that the item had never been shipped, I was ultimately told that neither a refund nor a reshipment could be provided. What frustrates me most is not the item itself, but the lack of follow-through, the conflicting information, and the amount of time I have spent trying to resolve an issue that I originally reported in 2025. I expected better communication and customer service from Ulta. After multiple attempts to resolve this matter, I am disappointed with how it was handled. I hope Ulta takes this feedback seriously and reviews how situations like this are handled. read more

This is going to sound insane but MUA Shelby was the catalyst to me rediscovering my look after Covid and having a child. I was in a real rut with the wrong foundation so I was browsing. Shelby may have sensed that I was lost but approached me with such an approachable and friendly attitude. She heard what I had to say, and I felt really listened to. Then she matched me in like 10 minutes. I have had such a hard time finding my shade and even paid for make up match at Gene Juarez (which didn't really work for me either.) ONE HOUR PRIOR to my appointment starting, Princess leaves a message that it's being cancelled because she didn't receive a call from me as to what kind of highlights I wanted. Huh?? I called back 30 minutes after this surprising VM was left but she wouldn't let me keep my appointment. Someone's haircut was now booked in lieu of mine, even though mine was arranged weeks earlier. I was so excited when I heard an Ulta was taking this location years ago but unfortunately, I don't come here often because of consistent "meh" times. Their customer service is so dry-- normally there is eye contact but no acknowledgement and I am always given an attitude at the register. Also, for some reason, I am always given a hard time when I do an in-store pick up. Because in-person shopping always seems to be unenjoyable, I normally do curbside pick-ups when I am desperately in need of something and that seems to be the best route. read more

First, my three-star score is reflecting a five for the overall customer service and quality of products at Ulta. I'm always very happy with the help I receive. However, I recently went in for a brow wax and that is a one star. The technician made a total mess out of my brows; over waxed and left holes in the brow line. It has two weeks and they have not grown back in yet. So I would say, go here for great quality beauty products and wonderful customer service, and steer clear of the waxing. read more

I can't say enough positive things about this store. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff is much, much better than other beauty chains. They are knowledgeable about all the products, have patience with questions and - after two months- happily exchanged a product for me. They helped me chose makeup for a very special event, gave me guidance on eyelashes ( my first time! ) and steered me towards more economical choices. No upsell and unpretentious. I went in yesterday for a brow wax. Booked a BROW WAX ahead of time. Three stars because the brow bar associate is a perfectionist! But minus two because I did not book a brow tint and should have told them to take it off. I came expecting to pay $23 plus tip. I left paying $36 plus tip. That is a very poor business practice. EW. I came in wanting to drop $75 on a bottle of serum alone. When I finally tracked someone down to see if they had that bottle shown on their website, they didn't have it. However, the sales person simply told me to go look for it at a different store rather than offering another product. So, I was visibly searching (got ignored by other employees who made eye contact with me, but didnt even say hi), and finally asked another associate if they had any recommendations for a hydrating serum. They then asked if I wanted to look at exfoliators. I said, no, I am looking for a serum. Again, they tried to sell me on something else like I didn't even say my precious sentence. I repeated in was only looking for a serum, and then they asked if I had a medical skin condition. WTH?!?!?!?! I am trying to get you to sell me a serum, literally just grab any one and say you recommend it. I am trying way to hard to give you money, and it is like you aren't interested. I walked off and left. This is what I get for not just going to Sephorah. I'm called to see if they had the original product (they do) and told me to ask for a specific person when I got there because they really know their skincare stuff. I am so excited that there is an Ulta in West Seattle. I love this store and their customer service is beyond any Ulta that I have been too. I really love that you can buy high end makeup without driving across town. I was there Christmas shopping in December to specifically buy the Lancome Holiday Matte Lipstick Collection. A sales associate named 'Love' was amazing. She directed me to where the sets were located and also asked if there was anything I needed for myself. We started chatting about what I currently use and what I was in need of. She really took the time and color matched me to a foundation shade that complemented my skin tone very well. The customer service at this location is none existent. I get it's the holidays and stores are busy but waiting at the curbside pick up for 20min is WILD! Only to have to go Into the store and have multiple sales reps tell you they don't know how to do a curbside order and walk away. When I finally spoke to a manager, it was like talking to a wall. I had never known what to expect from a facial prior to my roommate raving about how great she was. I schedule my facial and havent look elsewhere since. Reba not only is fantastic at what she does, she is compassionate about her clients and cares for them. She puts so much effort into what she does because she loves it and knows what it takes to make everyone feel beautiful!!! Online and in person signage indicates the store opens at 11 AM. I showed up at 11 and the doors were locked. The sales person pointed to a different sign that reported "adjusted hours" and that sign STILL said they opened at 11 AM. The sales person just shouted through the glass "NOON" and walked away. I've been trying to support brick and mortar stores, but they can't even do the very basics right. They lost a long term customer in me and probably in the other 3 women who thought the store opened at 11 and came to shop there, only to be locked out. read more

I've been to Ulta locations all over the country (Florida, California, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, etc) and I think I've had my most positive experiences at this one. So positive that it's basically the only Ulta I'll frequent--it's either this location or online, unless I really need something. I'm not sure if the newness of this location is in part the reason my experiences here have been so positive or not, but the cleanliness and organization of this location are certainly a plus. The manager, or what I've seen of her, really seems to have her stuff together. The employees actually make attempts at conversation which is honestly rare in beauty chains. Every time I've gone in, I've been offered assistance more than once. Check-outs have always flowed smoothly, even with a line, and no matter how many products I have. I really appreciate this Ulta's customer-first priority. I'm always psyched for a visit to this particular location! read more

They need improvement on customer service. My friend and I walked in they said nothing they just talked amongst theirselves. No one asked if we needed help as we looked for our products until the end of our shopping. But they stood near us to watch as we shopped. Very disappointing. A short while ago I booked online with a stylist I had been most anxious to try and soon received a phone call confirming my appointment. I arrived 2 minutes early and was promptly greeted by my stylist who was still seeing the client previous to me. My stylist said they were running a "couple of minutes behind", and took a person in ahead of me. 40 minutes later the stylist was finished and ready for me. I was so annoyed - I'd driven far out of my way to be there, was clearly bumped by a long term client who had just arrived (I chatted with their spouse), then told it would be just a "couple of minutes". Not 40. My stylist was very professional - in manner - and I am truly sorry I was unable to stay for what would have been a great hair treatment. If I had been told there was a wait I could have done something else in the meantime. As it was I wasted 2 hours of my time and didn't get my hair done. The stylist apologized for "not meeting my expectations" and was very friendly, but clearly time is not something in this salon's skill set or something they respect. She actually did my make up for a Gala and I loved it. I ended buying the wrong mascara and Ulta was kind enough to let me return it and suggested another mascara, which I absolutely love! The selection of the products you could ever need are available at this store. The sales associates can you give tutorials and lessons on anything that you want/ need to learn (without judgement .... thank god). If you need anything from eyeshadows, make up, hair products, face cleaners, etc this is the place for you. BEWARE!!!! YOU CANNOT RETURN ANY MERCHANDISE EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE A RECEIPT. This review is on my first and most likely last visit to this store as I am appalled by their backward policies. I decided to give them a try as I prefer to buy cosmetics in person. The staff was helpful with the selection of products, but things took a sharp turn when I got to the register. The person at the register asked for my phone number and I told her to skip this as I prefer not to provide my personal info to retailers. She insisted that unless I give her all my personal info so she can create a store account for me, I won't be able to return any of the products even if there is something wrong. I asked a few times WHY I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO RETURN THE PRODUCTS USING THE PRINTED RECEIPT I GET WHEN I PAY and she could not give me a cohesive explanation. She kept insisting that unless I have a store account, even if I have a printed receipt, I won't be able to make a return. I left the $70 worth of stuff and told her they just lost a customer. She didn't seem to have a problem with me walking out and spending my money elsewhere. I found all the cheaper products in Target and ordered the expensive ones online. This must be the only store where you are not allowed to make a return using your receipt unless you fall for their marketing trap. While other stores also try to push online accounts, nobody ever prohibits customers from returning merchandise using their receipt if they choose not to create one. At a time when brick-and-mortar retailers do everything in their power to retain customers, I can't see how a store that forces a bad marketing scheme and a backward policy on its customers will stay in business much longer. read more
