I've been a regular Ulta customer for years, but after my recent experience, I won't be shopping there anymore. I attempted to return a product I purchased in-store in February -- with both the receipt and the unused product in hand -- only to be told I couldn't return it because it had been over 60 days. At first, the store associate seemed willing to offer store credit, which I would've gladly accepted. But then the manager stepped in, looked at my account, and abruptly said the return couldn't be processed. No explanation. Just a hard no. I contacted customer service afterward, and their response only added to the confusion. They mentioned something about the policy possibly being different for in-store purchases and that it may depend on whether or not the clerk can process the return. So... it's discretionary? Based on who's working that day? After 20 minutes of frustrating back-and-forth, I ended the call -- only to receive a call back from the same customer service rep, who then told me I could escalate my concern to someone higher up. I was placed on hold for another 15 minutes, only to be told by a different representative that there was nothing they could do. The entire experience was a complete waste of time. Ulta's policies seem inconsistent and poorly communicated, and it feels like they just pick and choose when to apply them. I'm disappointed in the lack of clarity, flexibility, and customer care -- especially after being a loyal customer. I have the choice to make my beauty and fragrance purchases at Nordstrom, Macy's, Target, Sephora, etc, where I am not treated like a criminal for trying to return a product after 30 days, with the receipt. Used curbside pick up for the first time. It was such an easy process. I got a text when my order was ready. I pulled into the designated spot and notified them via the link the provided. They came out within a couple of minutes. They asked for ID to ensure it was me which I appreciated and they had me check my order to ensure it was to my satisfaction. Note: I only saw one curbside parking space. It can be difficult to find things in the store. I will use this in the future to make things easier. read more

I went to this location and it was terrible. If I could put no stars I would lol. The store wasn't properly stocked and labeled. Whenever I went in there was a sale sticker with no date. When I got it rung up Tracy got very cocky and told me wasn't on sale but she would look. She went over and ripped the sale tag off right in front of me and said she couldn't do anything about it when she got back up to the register. If it wasn't on sale it's their job to take the stickers down! Julia was awesome today! My 14 year old wanted new makeup and needed some new brushes. I know a good amount about makeup and didn't really feel that we needed help, i also didn't want a pushy older sales woman. I've been getting into skin care lately and my female coworkers are always raving about Ulta. I've gone in this location before and have been ignored but that was a while ago so I figured I'd try again. I guess it's because I'm a big dude with a beard but alas, no acknowledgement. I made eye contact with and tried smiling at an employee but she did not ask me if I needed help. I stood in the moisturizer aisle for a while watching a Dr. Dray YouTube video (she's a dermatologist, check her vids out) to make sure I was remembering the correct Cerave product she recommended. I knew it was cheaper elsewhere but didn't feel like going to Target. I checked out thinking I'd be asked to sign up for a rewards program like my coworkers belong to but instead she asked me if I had their rewards card and when I said no instead of asking me to sign up for one she asked the woman who her coworker was ringing out if she could have her phone number so she could get my points... I'm clearly just some guy that they assume will never come back and not a valued customer sooo... I ended up coming back five minutes later to return it. F that noise. I bought it at Target and saved $2 and got me a free sunscreen sample. read more

This used to be my favorite Ulta location, mostly because the staff used to be so helpful and nice. It is no longer like that. Every time I walk into the store, the entire staff is standing at the Brow Bar talking to each other. I'm lucky if one of the girls will look up at me, but nobody ever greets me. I instantly feel super uncomfortable, because of that. I typically don't have questions, but on the rare occasion that i do, I am treated like a nuisance. For example, I came to this store yesterday to buy the new Tarte Face Tape foundation. The shade that I wanted was sold out (since the store's supply is so slim), so I asked an employee for her help to hopefully find another shade that might work. She pointed to the advertisement picture and said, "Try this one." in a snappy tone. So, for about 30 minutes I went back and forth between the products and a mirror to try to find a fitting shade. Not one employee attempted to help me, and at this point I felt too uncomfortable to ask for help again. I gave up on the foundation and went to browse other products that I wanted, but ended up leaving empty handed because I was so frustrated with how I was treated. Also, I have gone to this location once every week for the last month in an attempt to get the Birthday freebie (NYX Lip Lingerie), but they have not had any of their NYX products on the floor. I asked an employee where it is and she said, "All of our NYX is in boxes in the back because we are relocating products on the floor". It has been a month though, and my birthday month is now over. They had what I needed but being a regular customer I would think that the scowls and nasty looks could stop. Nope. I assume it's because I'm a man but I don't know. One employee even called me boring because of the make-up I bought. This is the same woman who insisted that men don't wear make up to my roomate (also a man). They stare you down while you're shopping and act bothered when you ask for assistance. A little research shows that they rarely hire men. I think from now on I'll pay a little extra and go to Sephora. They hire men, gay people, and women alike. They don't discriminate and they're willing to actually help me. The worst salon I have EVER been to. They jacked my hair up, color and cut, and charged me $400 for it. It's ridiculous that they charge by the hour because the lady clearly was taking a slower time so she could charge more. WAY over priced for the work that they did on me. This would have been a 1 star if it wasn't for their manager. I walked in during their 21 days of beauty promotion looking for help and 6 people that worked there passed right by me, some multiple times, some to help the person that was standing either to the side or behind me. When I did flag someone down they led me to the product I had questions about and then helped the customers standing in front of the product when we got there and left after those people were satisfied. The manager was lovely though. She calmed me down (I was pissed) and helped me find what I was looking for and even gave me samples to combat the service I received. I'd like to think it wasn't a race thing, as I was the only minority in the store, either way I will now be taking my business to the location in cranberry or to Sephora. read more

I had scheduled a hair appointment with a new salon employee sometime in November and wanted to share my experience on it as well as the experience I just had last night during my appointment. When I had arrived in November at the Robinson location, to my knowledge, the employee was newer and seemed confused with what I wanted done with my hair after showing her a photo. She asked a coworker how she could achieve it (which I didn't mind because I'd prefer she'd ask someone who knew how!) However, the coworker came off with an attitude asking the lady who was doing my hair "what do you mean you don't know?" It was very uncomfortable witnessing this..along with the tension in the room (AKA all of the employees staring her and me down the whole time without any assistance). It seemed as if the coworkers did not care to fix any mistakes being done. This coworker informed me that she asks for help and her coworkers do not care to help her, and also informed me that they treat her very badly and management has told her "grow a back bone" because she is reserved and not as outspoken as the other women. So she began doing my hair by putting highlights throughout the bottom of my head and then a toner after washing out. The results were not what I was expecting. So she attempted to wash me out again with a different toner. The process took 4 hours. I was offered to come back free of charge. Which was tonight. I appreciated the offer because I was was informed by a store manager that I would achieve the results I wanted with the salon manager that next time I came in. Tonight I met with the salon manager who was not welcoming at all. She did not apologize for any mistakes that were made previously by her employees. She began on my hair by bleaching it, which took 2 hours itself. So the bottom layer of my hair was sitting with bleach on it for an hour at least. She then washed me out after all that time and put a toner on my head to achieve a silver tone. Immediately after getting back to the mirror I was not satisfied at all. The top of my head had an orange tint and the bottom was a blue gray. It looked terrible. Please refer to photos. I mentioned to the salon manager that I was not satisfied and that it looked ridiculous. She seemed to be frustrated with me and then explained why my hair did not pick up the color I wanted. As she was saying this to me she was tugging on my hair and I let her know that she did not need to pull my hair while explaining herself. She did not apologize but yet say she wasn't pulling at my head. She gave me two options..one being to lighten the top of my head/deepen the bottom and the other was to be "patient" and come back in a month or two to get lightened again. Well I didn't take either..I asked to dye my whole head back to my natural color because at that time I had been at the salon for 5 hours already!! Having nothing offered to me (employees were in and out going to 5Below and Starbucks grabbing food and beverages) or any apology. As she was blowing me out she was not aware of her surroundings. Which to me, is odd for a salon manager. I expected someone who would check if jewelry was on her client. Yet she was brushing me out and kept hitting my ears, finally the comb had hooked onto my hoop earring and was yanked out. Luckily my ear did not tear but it did hurt. She asked if I wanted to put it back in but I was so flustered at the point I just wanted to leave. The salon covered the bill (as it should be cover e because it was a terrible experience) She did worse than the new employee who messed it up in the first place. She did not come off pleasant at all to me and had no interest in making any conversation with me in those 6 hours outside of what I wanted with my hair. Yet had made conversation with a client she was juggling in between doing my hair. Very unsatisfied and I will not be back to the salon. I hope change can be made and customer service can be taught to these employees. Disappointed with the whole experience. Do not recommend. read more

I love this location. I'm a newbie to using ulta for my makeup needs after terrible service for months at Sephora. I walked in to return concealer I just did not like. Within 5 minutes a lady walked over to help me. She was so wonderful and I even bought more items. The checkout girls were awesome and did not have any issues trying to return/exchange anything, unlike the ridiculous hoops Sephora now makes their customers jump through. This location is larger than the other location I normally go to. I will be a long time customer of this store. read more

I love this place and the workers I've gone in a couple times now to try out new skincare each one before they've recommended to me are great but then just don't work as well for my skin the last time I went in the woman recommended Skyn Iceland which so far I LOVE before I went in this past time I needed new foundation and some mascara since the pandemic they aren't allowed to do the testers which I completely understand so the woman matched me by looking at me and I got home to try it... it was PERFECT like a literal perfect match I was shocked. This store is a dump. The "beauty advisors" are trained to push whatever brand is down in sales, NOT what's best for you! They're trained to lie to customers to sell, sell, sell! The salon is a joke! They can't keep anyone with talent around because they're too busy catering to the princess stylists who have been there for over ten years. These girls have the majority of the hair clientele so they bring in the most money BUT their talent is mediocre at best since Ulta does not provide any continuing education for their stylists. They are taught to use Redkin products and they cut with the basic knowledge they came out of school with. Any time a new stylist joins the team these princesses bully them until they don't want to be there anymore. The sad thing is that they're chasing away better, more experienced talent! The princess also gossip about customers to each other and other customers. They brag about how their favorites are the ladies who tip the best and they'll treat them like queens as long as the money is coming in. They are trained to sell you services you don't need but will bye because you're trusting their "professional" opinions. The princesses will also add services to your ticket that they haven't actually done in order to puff up their numbers and their pay. The manager is an ignorant (as in dumb) racist who treats her employees of darker color like trash. She definitely favors the princesses. She forced out every ethnic employee they hired. I would not recommend going here to anyone. There are two stylists I would even let touch my hair (Diana and Emily, if you must go). I refuse to give my money or my recommendation to mean girls like Ann and Dara who will smile to your face as they take your money and then rip you apart as you're walking out the door! It's sad that they're allowed to continue working in the salon as management and HR have been called on it numerous times. Unprofessional, dirty, classless and overpriced! Ulta is a cheaper version of Sephora, let's be honest. It's like the lovechild of cheap drugstore beauty and middle-priced Sephora. So, it's pretty accessible. I don't often shop here because I know I could get the cheaper drugstore beauty products even cheaper at Target and the selection of cosmetics that are middle-priced is limited compared to Sephora. BUT they have a Benefit Brow Bar which is hands-down the best thing ever. The tattooed girl that works there is so personable, thorough, and is what keeps me coming back. I've had my brows done there by other staff and they've left me with wax residue on my face and without cover-up. read more

It is never worth your time to let any service be 'corrected', between the judging looks and comments and the fact that the outcome will mostly like be worse than you started with - you'll leave feeling like somehow it was your fault. If I could give no stars I would. I used to work in the salon. I was there for a little over a year. LOVE my clients and it killed me to have to move on from there suddenly without letting my clients know. Before being hired I informed them that I have a disability. Lupus SLE amongst other things. They never took me being sick seriously and always discriminated against me because of it. They said and did things to me that were illegal according to the ADA.The other girls back in the salon pretend to be your friend and talk about you and their clients as soon as you are out of ear shot of them. They even talk poorly of each other and then smile in each other's faces. They are completely unprofessional. They push who they don't want working there out. I guess they are threatened by new talent. Instead of investing in the new designers they cater to the ones who have been there for years. They do not hold everyone to the same standard. Letting certain employees get away things that are against the code of conduct and reprimanding those they don't care for. The salon manager is intimidated by the designers who have been there for years and could careless to help the newer designers grow. I have worked for some pretty backwards companies but Ulta Beauty by far takes the cake. Human Resources doesn't even know what to do with this place. If you're going to apply here, my advice, don't. If you're going to get your hair done here, beware. Ulta will not get a dime out of me until I have confirmation they care for their employees and their customers. read more

I love this store, but it gets a much lower rating because of my experience at the brow bar. First of all, the positives - it has a great selection. I don't see the need to spend a ton of money on make up because from my experience more expensive doesn't mean better. The do have the same things you'd find at a drug store, but also more professional brands that I like, such as Kenra. I love the Ulta brand cosmetics and I like to look at the clearance stuff. I'm not a Sephora fan - I feel like some kind of hipster poser going in there. I don't get the feeling in Ulta. I actually prefer to just get a hello when I come in (which I usually do) and walk around and have no one talk to me, unless I have a question. Ok now, the brow shaming part. Apparently my eye brows only extend about 3/4 of the way a normal person's does (maybe 4/5s? I'm not sure.) I never really noticed before because I don't spend time studying my or anyone else's eyebrows (but my mom told me since that this runs in the family). I have anywhere from fine to patchy hair everywhere - like huge strips of my legs that don't have hair. You can see looking at me I don't have anywhere near thick hair on my head, so hello. Anyway, where a normal person's eyebrows would extend I have a few rogue scraggly hairs that I hate so I usually just take them off with a trimmer. Recently they've been growing back really stubbly and weird, so I decided to go get them waxed off. I have had my eyebrows waxed before with no problem. They just work with what I have - why not, right? Well, I went to the Benefit Brow Bar here and she wouldn't do it. She drew the shape of huge eyebrows on my face and said my eyebrows should like this and I have to let them grow in. My eyebrows have never even come close to being that full. I could let them grow for 100 years and they'd never look like that. So, don't go here unless you can achieve perfect eyebrows. On a positive note, after feeling bad about myself for a couple days, this has led me to stop giving a f*** about my eyebrows and I'm just going to let them grow however they feel like and not do anything to them. read more

I have had two bad, bad haircuts from the salon and the staff is rude. I called and made an appointment to get a bad cut corrected and was very polite to everyone. I waited 35 minutes for my stylist then when she finished with a client she went out onto the floor to assist someone with hair care products. It was another 10 minutes. So 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment time and with no apology from the stylist or manager, she took a phone call. I left and have not been back since. read more
