I've been going to Elliven Spa for about 4 years now and I'm very pleased with the service here. I find that what makes them unique is how much they prioritize keeping your hair, skin, and nails healthy. A lot of salons just care about the outcome but with Elliven they ensure that your service is done without doing damage, which is very easy to do when you're getting a salon service. I recently just got my hair done by Rae who did an absolutely PHENOMENAL job!! I have naturally dark hair that i bounce back and forth between dark and light. Every hairstylist who has colored my hair dark has made it black, but Rae was so receptive to what I desired and I ended up with the most beautiful color I've ever had. She was so kind, took her time, and made sure she was going to create what I desired. My hair has never looked or felt so good!! On the esthetics side, I've been getting my eyebrows done by Jamie for the longest time and she's absolutely wonderful. My eyebrows practically grow on a schedule at this rate, so I always know when I need to come back. read more

Hi Holly, I wanted to reach out personally & respond to your feedback. First, thank you for taking your time to share your feelings with us. I am not sure why you think you have to step over the gate because they slide open. Everyone just slides it open & walks through. I know that Annie does not step over them because she jokes she is too short to. Seeing that she is your service provider now I am assuming that she is opening it for you as she escorts you back to the treatment room. If this not the case, I will certainly bring it to her attention but I feel confidently that she is opening the gate. We have gates to contain the puppy while she is going through her training to become a service dog. If the dog & the gates are a problem for you, I completely understand if you choose to have your services performed elsewhere. I want everyone that enters the spa to have the most enjoyable experience possible & clearly this is a problem for you. So sorry for the inconvenience & I hope this clears up any confusion concerning the dog gates. Be well. I'm so glad I found this spa near my house! Kay is the massage therapist and I've been going to her for about a year. She is so sweet, soft spoken, and a phenomenal massage therapist with a great energy. I always leave feeling so much better since she really listens to your needs and what your body is telling her. I've received the following services and all have been great: Fire and Ice Massage; Integrative Massages with an add on of Reiki; and a dry brushing session with Jamie who was also great! The environment does not feel like you're in a building in a plaza at all. The spa itself is decorated very tastefully with all sorts of different services from nails to hair and waxing. They always have an array of great products for sale, especially around the holiday. I can't wait to go back to Kay in a few months for another massage! read more

I got a great pedicure and it was a very nice experience. The facility was clean and the service was friendly.

I had been going to Elliven only for brows for maybe even less than a year. My first visit, I got there on time and was told that the woman doing my eyebrows had quit due to illness (later found out that that was untrue), and that she was taking care of rescheduling her clients. I told the girl that I wasn't a client of hers yet, so there's no way I would have known. To her credit, she did get me in later that day with another girl, Jamie. She did a nice job, but before she started, she was WAY more concerned with telling me about how she's been doing this for 10 years than listening to me trying to tell her that my eyebrows were jacked from having been threaded a year prior. Off putting, but oh well. As I said, she did a nice job, and I rescheduled. I ended up going consistently for a few months, and took a hiatus when work was busy. When I went back, things were the same. Busy, chaotic, dramatic vibe, not spa-like or relaxing, but I was only getting a brow wax. What the hell... but then I tried to schedule a couple spa services for my birthday. What I wanted was a lash/brow wax and tint package that was listed on their online menu, as well as their printed. When I tried to schedule, the receptionist couldn't find it, and the owner was hovering over her and said they didn't offer it anymore. Ok... eye roll. So I scheduled a couple other things, but left with a bad taste in my mouth. The owner is not happy or pleasant. It seems like she'd rather drag her weird little dog around with her and bitch about everything to everyone than try to make a customer happy. After a couple weeks of thinking about it, I called to cancel. I didn't want a chaotic birthday, and I didn't want to be jerked around on costs. No one asked why I was cancelling two or three services, either. It's like they all know that they have their little clique of clients who have always had a good experience and will stay, but they also have the outsiders who aren't happy, and not asking avoids drama. If you want a good, relaxing, worth-it spa experience, be it a brow wax or a facial or a massage, go to Ease in Mt. Lebanon. You won't have the Elliven experience there, that's for sure. read more

I have been going to Elliven Hair Salon for 3 years now. I can assure you that I have had nothing but positive experiences there. While I don't need hair coloring or a fancy updo, I can tell you that this place does a solid job on a men's haircut. If you are lucky enough to be there one of the days where they have homemade cookies, make sure you score one, you will not regret it. read more

For my first time ever at Elliven Spa, I had a wonderful experience! The front desk was friendly and offered me a drink while I waited (which wasn't long at all). I had scheduled a 90 min Swedish massage which was absolutely AHmazing. Very relaxing and much needed. I felt so great leaving. The massage therapist was incredibly nice but the I'm not sure why she asked my problem areas and pressure preferences since those were entirely ignored. It also took me back that when I walked in, she asked me how other places have done prenatal massages before. It didn't inspire confidence. She also talked the entire time and it was really hard to relax even when I stopped responding. About her children, grandchildren etc. VERY sweet woman but I wish I had met her in a different context. Janelle was awesome, she is modern, professional and knowledgeable about acids and peels etc. Her facial is comparable to those in NYC. She could really help transform the spa into a more updated place catering to a younger crowd. There were a lot of old school vibes, the massage was like massages from 20 years ago. It was also really bright in there during the massage. Christine was SO incredibly nice but her hands were so shaky for the french pedicure, the white lines are incredibly crooked. I could def see myself being friends with her though. She's a very cool lady. My blowout was also entirely flat. I asked for lift in the crown and it was like a prom curl job. I left the day having had such a wonderful experience due to the conversations (both wanted and unwanted). In terms of actual beauty services, if I were to come back, it would only be to see Janelle. The lobby is overcrowded with tchotchkes but I also bought a super cute pair of earrings. For the price of what I spent, I would have liked a much more professional and upscale vibe. This was a place I could see bringing my grandma for a fun girls day, but not for actual beauty services. I enjoyed the hospitality. Sincere thanks! read more

I wanted to love this place and was very close to doing so. The staff was great. I had a good experience with the service (mani and pedi) and enjoyed the company but after we were finished I noticed there was a lot of my nail left unpolished. The same side of all my nails. Maybe I'm just picky but I like my entire nail to have polish on it. I'm deciding if I should repaint them all or find a matching color to just do the sides with? Also, the website says that a new nail file is used for each client but the one used on my nails definitely had been used previously. It was sprayed with alcohol after use. read more

Unprofessional. Came for a fire and ice hot stone massage treatment scheduled for 10am. Arrived at 10:05am and the receptionist stayed on the phone for several minutes while we waited. When the masseuse came out she states we can't do your treatment because you were late. I explained that the receptionist was on the phone. She refused to do the service and offered to do something else instead.....or give a gift card to come back. I am going to save myself the aggravation and avoid this unprofessional staff. read more

I went to Elliven Spa for the first time this week with a girlfriend for a pedicure. Upon walking into the spa, which is very neat and clean and smells wonderful, I was greeted by the hostess and offered a glass of sangria, chardonnay, chablis, etc. It was awesome! I went for the sangria which was delicious. We waited under five minutes and were shown to our chairs, picked out our nail color from the incredibly organized color wall, as well as picked out our scent for the bath salts (I went with mango coconut). Kate did my pedicure and she was AMAZING. If you are going to schedule, definitely request her. The staff was beyond friendly and accommodating. When we were running low on our sangria, another worker came over and filled up our glasses. It was such a fun girls night and we both made our next appointments before we left. I live about 45 minutes from here BUT I will drive that far once a month for a superior pedicure. I can't wait to try more of their services. We did also find out that they use all green products, organic, vegan, etc. which is right up my alley! read more

Don't waste your money here for the sake of the convenience of not driving to the city. Angela, who claimed to have 20+ years of experience, bleached my hair after I specifically told her not to and then convinced me to buy extensions. After six weeks, she was supposed to take them out and redo my roots. Instead she decided to bleach my roots with them still attached. They were attached with copper beads. Yep, the copper reacted with the bleach and... Burned my hair. When I was taken to the wash bowl and shampooed most of the hair that had extensions attached ended up in the wash bowl. When the girl who washed my hair called Angela over to see what happened she grabbed the wads of hair and acted like it was no big deal. She then reattached everything that fell out and never said a word. It wasn't until the next day, after my shower, when a dozen extensions again broke off. I examined the back of my head in the mirror and was horrified. I started to panic and cry. I hopped in my car and drove to the salon. When Angela and Ashley, the owner, finally came in after their yoga class, I was told that I was eating too much protein and that was what caused my hair to break off!!! Angela offered to put the extensions back in...not kidding. She also gave me some free shampoo and conditioner. I spent over $1000.00 on the hair and the procedure to to attach the extensions not to mention the maintenance. Ashley never spoke of a refund and never called me to see why I cancelled all of my future appointments. It has been almost a year now... I am finally getting to a point where my hair is no longer an embarrassment. I have verbally warned everyone I know. I cannot believe how unprofessional this place is and how poorly they handled my hair. This is supposed to be their area of expertise!! The hairdressers were all very unprofessional and gossiped about their clients. They have a clientele who pays a lot of money for their services but they don't act like a high class salon. I was fortunate to find a place that is superb and offers a discreet and professional service. I will never go back. Be warned. read more
