Having lived in many neighborhoods and two different cities, I have tried many hair salons. While I am not necessarily picky or challenging about my haircut and style, I am very particular about the experience. After a lot of searching, I have found my salon of choice for years to come. My stylist is Selena. Normally, I like to go a few times a year for a simple cut. I grow, cut, grow again. Nothing fancy. Selena is very good about letting me choose the time-frame of return, and never pushes me to schedule more often. After having a few haircuts with her, I mentioned that I might like to try some highlights. I showed her some pictures, and she gave a few suggestions, and we made the appointment. I went this week, and am SO happy with the results. I let her guide me as the expert, and I trust her opinion and knowledge. When I mentioned that I needed some guidance on styling my hair a certain way at home, she showed me as she did it for me-- but never made me feel small or insignificant for needing the assistance. When I ask for product recommendations, she always has a great one to offer. But again, she doesn't push me to purchase or try to sell me anything. The most important thing to me is the experience. Everyone is friendly, the place is clean, and I am always offered a drink and/or magazine. Another reason I really like Selena, is because she and I have easy conversation the whole appointment each time. I don't sit in awkward silence, and I don't feel quizzed. We just chat. I tried be. Salon on a whim - looking for a better alternative to my uber expensive, sub-par salon in E Lib. I chose this place because they popped up on my insta feed, actually. I'm adventurous and open to a new experience, and this place is close to home with convenient parking and hours. Brittany (I think it was Brittany?) was assigned to me because of my curly/wavy hair and my experience there was overall really spectacular. I did have a few concerns about "coaching" me on the use of tools/products (I've been using tools and products since I was a pre-teen!) and a little bit of an uncomfortable response to one of my ideas, but I appreciate the thoughtful conversation about why she was doing what she was doing to my hair. She was thorough and took her time, which I also appreciate - I've been rushed out of other salons and charged 3x as much, so this was a big plus. I am sure it takes lots of time to establish a relationship and learn someone's style and preferences, so I don't count these things against them. I wish she had taken more of a risk when it came to the cut, but again, I am sure they are a bit more conservative with first time customers - and I also have an obligation to speak up! Once I "get to know" them better, I am sure it will be magic. Probably the biggest takeaways: affordable, thoughtful, comfortable atmosphere where clients seem to have good relationships with the stylists and are happy to return to a family business. Great experience at this salon with Heather and Holly! Heather gave me a top notch gel manicure! She took the time to help me choose the best shade of polish for my skin tone and used tools that made the manicure process completely comfortable- the subtle vibrating tool she used to take care of my cuticles was one I had never seen before, but Heather's process with that tool was way more comfortable than the traditional cuticle removal process that involves pressing down on them. Heather's method of doing nails was completely pain free and I could tell that she is a perfectionist. My nails still look great over two weeks since my appointment- no chipping or peeling, which is amazing since I'm pretty rough on my hands (lots of cleaning baby bottles and other items all day long). In addition to being a master of her craft, Heather is a great conversationalist. She was very easy to chat with and kept the conversation flowing- the time really flew by! I'm looking forward to seeing her again soon for a manicure and pedicure! Holly did an equally fantastic job with my hair! She listened to what I was looking for and showed me how I can style it efficiently. I don't always have time to style it because I have my hands full with a new baby, but the style looks nice even when I only have time to let it air dry! Barber review (Kyle): I had heard that Be.Salon recently added a barber, so I wanted to give him a shot since my wife goes there. At first I was hesitant, because I have gone to the same stylist for years, but after my first experience I am glad that I did. Kyle was very friendly and easy to talk to and listened to the haircut that I was looking for. The haircut was a traditional barber style cut, which I had only heard about and I was very pleased. He did a great job and had my hair looking really fresh and crisp. At the end of the haircut he used a straight razor & warm shaving cream to shave the back of my neck. I don't have a beard, but I saw him trimming up the beard of the customer before w/ some professional tools, which I haven't seen at other places. He also made some suggestions on product that I should try, and gave me free samples to take home with me. I ended up sampling 3 different products and came back a few days later to purchase a tube of a more light-cream (I was previously using paste) product, which has made a huge difference in my look. After my 3rd appointment I ended up making a standing appointment for every 3 weeks, and now get texts reminding me of my appointment. Very cool and convenient. be. Salon has everything - nice digs but not posh, really friendly people all around, tea/coffee/wine, and last but most important, Holly, one of the owners and my new hair stylist. My hair is curly, graying and thin. I had not been able to find the person who can cut my hair to make it look full but not poofy - until Holly. She styled my short hair so that it's easy to prep and go and also dyed my hair a beautiful dark brown, leaving a stripe of gray in the front. It's been a few weeks and I STILL LOVE IT! She also pointed out new hair growth happening, which really psyched me because my hair had been thinning (I've started taking an herb called horsetail for hair/nails. This stuff works. You can find it at Eastend Co-op). It was my first time there and I felt at ease and comfortable. Holly is authentic in conversation, listens and shares on an equal level, is also ok with silence, and is the BEST stylist I've encountered. I live 20 mins away in Forest Hills and it's worth the drive. Already have my next appointment set. read more

be. Salon is THE best salon in Pittsburgh! Alayna is amazing. I tell her my thoughts, which are usually pretty vague, and somehow she does exactly what I'm looking for. She, and the other stylists, have helped me learn how to make my hair cute and stylish despite my lack of styling abilities. Alayna did my wedding hair and makeup, which were both exceptional. I don't wear makeup on a daily basis and was worried but I needn't be because she made it look absolutely natural. I love treating myself to a manicure at be. Salon because Heather is outstanding and patient with my indecisiveness. Patrick, the salon manager, is always able to find me the appointments I need and recommends the absolute best products. After a disastrous and frustrating trip to my regular salon, I was desperate for a color correction. Be Salon is nearby and based on their positive Yelp reviews, I decided to make an appointment. The person who answers the phones and greets you is kind and patient, and set me up with Selena. Selena is WONDERFUL! She listened to what I wanted, offered suggestions, and asked questions about what I like and didn't like about my current color. She's also up on current trends not only with coloring techniques but also with cuts. The salon is adorable, clean, and was busy but not hectic/overbooked so you really have time to relax and enjoy yourself. Also, the price was very reasonable! I LOVE THIS SALON!!! I have been looking for a new salon for a while and was nervous about going somewhere new... After reading all of the wonderful reviews from other yelpers and also on Google, I made an appointment. I was set up with Brittany who was just fabulous! She took time to find out what I was looking for and gave me her opinions on what she thought would look best. I've had my hair done for less than 24 hours and have received so many compliments on the color! Even from my husband who has never commented on my hair before! (Lol) It's a gorgeous salon and everyone is so friendly! I was greeted and offered a beverage (wine - another bonus!) as soon as I walked in the door!! Finding a new hair salon can be really daunting. Especially when you've worked with the best of the best. I needed a new salon after moving to Pittsburgh. I had waited far too long for a cut. After scouring yelp repeatedly, I decided to schedule with be. Salon. I asked for the most experienced stylist who was awesome with color. Enter Suzy. Besides being a really nice person, Suzy is a true Master. I always leave the salon with gorgeous, natural color and a style that grows out great and doesn't require much "work". My mom decided to schedule with Suzy after seeing my hair and hearing me sing her praises. She LOVES Suzy and ALWAYS gets a fabulous cut. Absolutely recommend!! read more

Salon is creative and always up to date on the latest in color technique and innovation -- they're constantly hosting and attending trainings to stay ahead of the curve. I have very dark hair naturally, but Jenna and team always manage to give me the perfect shade blonde - it's never brassy or ashy. Overall, my salon experience is always relaxing and enjoyable - and Patrick and Corey at the front desk are absolutely delightful. I've been searching for a regular place, and I think I've found it! Price was a little high for the cut ($45ish), but very reasonable for the color. Overall price ($120ish for cut and color) was well worth the service. Selena was great! She is very good at really listening and understanding what you want. When we were done, the cut looked different on my hair than I thought it would (even though she did what I asked)...and she was VERY understanding about adjusting the cut despite already spending a lot of time with me. I love this place. It's worth the trip from Squirrel Hill to leave Be. Salon feeling refreshed and beautiful. Holly tamed my thick, wavy, long graying hair and made it swingy, smooth and manageable again. It falls beautifully at home with or without a blowout or curling iron. Patrick was a great help in finding an appointment that allowed me to get a haircut before an important trip. be Salon, you are a winner! I just moved to the area and I was dreading the process of finding a new hair stylist. I decided on be. Salon because of the reviews and it seemed that they would be able to provide a trendy yet professional haircut. At my first appointment, I just had to wait a few minutes (during which time they offered complimentary wine) and then I met Whitney. She listened to me, provided her own insight, and got to work. Finding a good salon can be stressful as well as difficult. I've been going to be.Salon now for about 5 years. Holly is wonderful, always listens to what I have in mind for my hair cut or color. The selection of products sold at the salon are plentiful - there is something for every hair type or any styling product you can imagine. I am SO happy that my boyfriend recommended me to be.Salon! I see Sadie for color, toner, Olaplex treatments and cuts. I always look forward to my appointments and getting "Sadiefied" I like to call it, the girl is doing God's work I always leave the salon feeling great. I tried be. Salon for the first time tonight. They were very nice and accommodating with my work schedule. It's a cute salon in a great location. Britt gave me a wonderful trim and style. Exactly what I wanted. I hadn't had a haircut in a year and my layers were choppy. Brit cleaned up my ends and blended the chunks. I love how she listened to how I don't do anything with my hair. She gave my hair shape but didn't take too much off. I am very happy with my cut. I suggested that my 14 year old daughter go to Britt when she's ready for a haircut. read more

Best salon I've been to in the Pittsburgh area. I've been twice now and both stylists I had were great. I'm not good with hair...so as generic as my requests are (a natural look, really), my two stylists have nailed it. Often times it takes me some time to get used to changes after seeing a stylist, but I have left both times just excited about how my hair looked, not needing to adjust or come to terms with anything. I have been going to be salon for a couple of years now and as soon as I walk in I feel a sense of relaxation! The receptions are always so friendly and helpful!! Sadie has been doing my hair for about a year now and she never disappoints! I get highlights and a cut and it always turns out so beautiful!! Sadie is also so easy to talk to and the time seems to go by so fast when I am there.
