The director of the SEPHORA on Walnut Street, Colleen Lepovich, is seen on her personal page Facebook account in a post which I shared and responded to in the first screen shot (far left), where in she states that I was simply a disgruntled customer that shouldn't be listened to in response to a review I left on the Sephora Shadyside FB page detailing a terrible experience there 1/4/2021. The two screen shots (middle and right) are of my review where in I describe the experience. Unbeknownst to me my review on 1/4/21 triggered a diversity and inclusion training as well as some news media coverage. It's sad that despite that training the director remains comfortable microagressing black customers and attempting to silence us. More interesting still is that black female make up artists who had worked at that location for years all left within weeks of each other shortly after sales goals began to focus on aggressively selling credit cards. What made coming to Sephora great was the sense of community and education we received when I would get there and see people who looked like me that gave honest opinions, advice, and tips on what to buy. As long as Sephora is no longer interested in fostering these kinds of relationships with their clients that make them want to come back by making credit and 3 in the basket a priority, they will continue to lose long time customers and talented black staff. But I'm sure they are used to the bad press about that.

I went to Shadyside to go to the Apple Store and decided to stop in Sephora while I was in the area. I must say, everyone that works there was extremely helpful, they did not make me feel like I was being bombarded with people trying to sell me something. They they were very courteous and offered help and education on products. The store appeared to be larger than most that are not in a mall and was very clean.

The staff was pretty helpful. They just didn't have a lot of the stuff that I wanted. The price could have been cheaper. Overall great experience.

If it has to do with makeup, nails, or hair I don't play! I'll wear a burlap sack as long as my makeup is on point. When I walk in the door they know that I'm serious about my makeup. There have been times where I have left because somebody didn't help me soon enough. When I do get somebody who greets me right away and helps me I expect free samples of things especially because I spend no less than $300 every time I'm there. I even bring friends and buy them stuff too! There's some girls here that really hook you up with samples and others are super stingy which is ridiculous. If I'm buying an $80 product in one shade and tell you I tan and want to try a sample of it in a different shade just give me my sample! ^_^ This store is very cramped, be prepared to rub elbows and say "excuse me" and "sorry" a lot. It gets packed with teen girls buying eye liner and lip gloss haha. Move over girls, Lexy is on a mission! Haha

Natural, glowy look by the Sephora team for a rehearsal dinner.

I got my makeup done at this Sephora for my rehearsal dinner, and it was the best service I've ever received at a Sephora. I was visiting from out of town, and I was so blown away by how sweet and friendly the associates were. The associate who did my makeup was extremely knowledgeable and I tried to figure out her name, but couldn't get a hold of the store! The associate was able to create a very natural glowy look that didn't look like I had makeup caked on. If you're considering getting lashes during your makeover, I recommend upgrading to the $17 eyelashes that look very natural, as opposed to the $10 ones I've had them do before. Overall, I just want to give props to the team for an awesome makeover, and the associate who did my makeup (she had short brownish red hair and worked in theater before this).

When I asked if that is patchouli I smell and is there a product there that has it in it. Or if the 2 employees there the 1 female said yes (while sounding annoyed) then she said allot of things has done in it. Mind you she never moved to assist in any way. When I realized she maybe didn't want my money or my kind in their establishment I said oh! OK! And left. I felt like maybe they need to be in a different community of their not going to welcome everyone in that community even though i live somewhere else, but look allot like the majority there

The owner selects products that are healthy for people, animals, and the planet. Examples of brands are Korres, Davines, Zents, Vertly, Maapilim, Apotheke, Baudelaire, and Voluspa. My husband found this store when he searched for soaps in Pittsburgh. He knows that I enjoy using unique soaps, so he visited this store to browse their merchandise. He said that the salesperson kindly helped him to choose the best soaps. My husband must have forgotten that I prefer fruity scents, because he bought many floral scents, but he did buy some fruity scents. Of course, the salesperson would not have known my preferences, and I do appreciate their assisting my husband. My husband bought a total of seven bar soaps: two from Baudelaire, two from Lafco, two from The Handmade Soap Co., and one from the Kala Corp. I have not yet used all of the soaps, but I did briefly try one soap from each brand. All of the soaps lathered and cleansed my skin well.
