I visited Vanity Box Boutique for a free/open to the public Spring Makeup event. My mom and I went around 6 pm and met with the owner Lauren. While guests were getting their makeup done and learning Spring makeup tips and tricks, we shopped around the boutique. The space is really big, and she curated really cute clothes, jewelry, and accessories. She also sells Jane Iredale makeup which I just learned about for the first time! The clothes were reasonably priced for a boutique, and there was a mix of comfortable basics to dresses. I also loved the waterproof, gold jewelry that she gets from Paris. There is a fitting room in the back, and I tried a couple things on. We browsed through the makeup and skincare products, but really learned a lot when it was our turn to get our makeup demonstration. Lauren the owner and Dessa (another incredible makeup artist) tried different Jane Iredale products on my mom and I. They both did an amazing job! Lauren explained that the Jane Iredale products are clean, vegan, and actually good for your skin. She also told us there is no talc in her products. The eyeshadow blended so nicely and didn't crumble or fall below the eyes. It was fun to learn about and we left with beautiful makeup! We bought a few of the makeup products, and Lauren ordered a BB cream for my mom that she was sold out of. The boutique is comfortable and Lauren is great. I loved that she hosted this party so we could check out the space! It seems like the boutique is really known for their facials. I found out about it from my friend who raved that she got the best facial ever at Vanity Box. I definitely plan to book a service in the future. I got my first last lift ! It was a beautiful studio, and Lauren did a wonderful job ! She was a pleasure from scheduling the appointment and during the service. My lashes look amazing ! I'm so excited. Plus they're low maintenance. The bonus is that I have a new boyfriend - her yorkie Owen! What a babydoll. I would highly recommend. This is a hidden jewel in the city! I've never had a true facial before and after coming here I'm now hooked. Lauren is very knowledgeable of skin. TL;DR The owner is shockingly rude. Please reconsider spending money here. Also VanityBox is NOT cruelty-free (They sell LEATHER clothing in the boutique.) Please reconsider patronizing this business. Incredibly rude and unprofessional behavior from the owner, Lauren Kennedy. Booked an appointment for a 20 minute eyelash tint using her online booking system. Easy right? Apparently not. When she rescheduled my appointment for a later time, I asked what the point of the booking system was if the time slots shown online aren't actually available...? Didn't really make any sense...She emailed back with the following rudely worded emails (quoted verbatim): "Excuse me for having a walk-in in[sic] client" followed by "I run this business by myself and I'm pretty sure I handle my scheduling just fine !!!" I was already near the salon so I just went in, said I was the client she had been messaging and calmly asked why I was receiving such unprofessional messages..? Lauren immediately got loud, defensive and rude, told me it "wasn't a big deal...You should be able to wait an extra hour for an eyelash tint. It's only an hour...you're unprofessional for coming into my salon (wtf??). You can leave. I don't have the time to check my phone every 2 seconds and I had a walk in client". Okay so she can't handle her own booking system...? What I think may have happened is that her walk-in wanted a more expensive procedure (eyelash tints are only $22 ) so she gave her walk-in precedence by pushing my pre-booked appointment back by an hour and 25 minutes, from 2:20 to 3:45, which I couldn't do because I had to work that night. Very bizarre and unprofessional behavior. A professional business owner would have simply apologized for the inconvenience. Please spend your money elsewhere. False claims and ridiculous behavior which you can see by her response below, admitting that she can't handle her own booking system. Serious attitude problem and I've already told all my coworkers friends and family to never go here. Lauren did my makeup for an event on 4.21.18 and I felt absolutely beautiful all day long. She even accommodated an early morning appointment for me, which was more than nice! I had an event which was approximately 10 hours long and THEN my baby niece was born that evening ... My makeup lasted 16 hours later and I was able to look fabulous in hospital pics with my niece and sister. This place is gorgeous, clean, smells good, she uses professional products and even offered me a sample of the lip color so I could reapply all day if needed. One of the things I loved most about Lauren was that she made me feel beautiful despite having some acne issues .. she listened to exactly what I wanted and I left feeling confident. Excellent, professional services. I got three services and happily rebooked all three at the conclusion. Lauren is very friendly and professional. She has a beautiful relaxing space. Lauren asked me questions to gain perspective on my skin and skin care routine. 1. Clarifying facial: umm can I get this every day? I have sensitive skin in spots but everything she uses is all natural I had no reaction. My skin felt so much cleaner and more vibrant. She did excellent extraction as well. My nose had significantly less blackheads after this service. I could tell my skin looked brighter as well. 2. Eyebrow tinting: I have super light eyebrows and Lauren was able to match my hair color perfectly. Now I have visible eyebrows but they don't overwhelm my face. 3.
