Baring in mind that I regularly wax and have for years, it actually hurt during the waxing to the point where I had to ask her if she had waxed a male before. To that end, I had to go as far as coaching her to keep my skin taunt while removing the wax among a host of other issues during the session. Upon my exit, I informed the receptionist that the session was not satisfactory to the point the extent it was painful and that I would like a call from the manager. I got a voicemail 9 days later and I have returned her call twice now with no communication from the European Wax Center on Providence Blvd in 4 weeks.

When I made the appointment, the receptionist asked if I had a preference in massage therapist. Since I had never been there before to be able to ask for anyone by name, I asked for the strongest person she could give me. When I arrived that day and met Jamie, I admit that I had reservations, since she was about my same height (5'8") but easily 75 pounds lighter than me. I wondered how this super skinny, soft spoken "girl" could possibly give me the deep and firm massage I was hoping for. Well, my hesitations were quickly put to rest as soon as Jamie started working on me. Her massage technique was just my style. Plus, she had the perfect blend of friendly chit chat just before she got started but then absolute silence (other than the normal "Is the pressure okay? Would you like hot towels on your feet? I'm going to have you flip over now," kind of stuff) once she started my massage. My only minor complaint was that the door/walls are a bit thin and not everybody in the hallway just outside my massage room observed the "Quiet, please" sign on their way into that wing of the building. It could've been other patrons, it could've been other massage therapists, I really don't know. But I would've liked it to be a little quieter (other than the typical soothing "spa" music - no Enya, thankfully) the whole time. Of course, I'm pretty sure I fell asleep at one point toward the end of my massage, which is always a good sign that you're pretty much as relaxed as you can get. When I went to check out the team member took quite some time trying to figure out how to actually check me out. I paid for the service and left. About 10 minutes after I left I received a call from the front desk, and without an apology told me that I was under charged and needed to come back to finish paying my bill or pay it over the phone. I asked her if I could call back once I was done driving and would pay then. She hesitated and said ok. A few hours later I called to pay the bill and the girl on the phone said that they were closed and since they had my card on file they just went ahead and charged me the additional $40. Without even a courtesy call to tell me what the additional fee was or to confirm if that was the card I wanted to use for the charge. Again, no apology, no hint of remorse, nothing. I asked them to mail me my receipt. Additionally, the young man who massaged me for the fee of $140.00 + a $20.00 tip, didn't touch my hands or feet, didn't have the bed heated, the hot towels grew cold extremely fast and I spent the 90 minutes feeling cold, and not at all relaxed because his massage game was poor.
