Let me start by saying that Rachel at the salon at Ulta in Murfreesboro was fantastic. I was going in after a number of bad color experiences to get my hair done and she completely corrected everything. I really only have one complaint about my experience at this salon and it has nothing to do with Rachel. I would highly recommend her to anyone and in fact plan to return and get my hair done with her again. She's extremely friendly and very nice and she explains everything thoroughly and in detail. She obviously enjoys her job and is good at it.The complaint I have though has to do with what happened at the end of my visit. The manager took a major attitude with me when I said I couldn't leave a tip right now. I realize that this is bad form and it might make some people angry and react like maybe I deserved the attitude, but look....I had already made it clear that I couldn't afford the additional expense, and no one deserves the kind of attitude I got. Now, some people might think that I shouldn't get my hair done at all if I can't also afford to leave a tip, but this was ultimately unexpected due to a couple things. I didn't go into the situation thinking that would happen. First off, the coupon I had didn't work at the register, and I was really relying on being able to get that discount. I think that might have been because it was a coupon that was for either a salon service or a purchase and I put everything into one so it took the percentage off of my purchase instead of my salon service. Plus, the service ended up costing more than I initially expected. I mentioned to Rachel when she was doing my hair that money was extremely tight to begin with, and that has only been made worse because I have just been diagnosed with a number of major skin allergies and have had to replace pretty much everything in my house from the most basic thing like laundry soap on up to shampoo and body wash. I had to get everything new that didn't have the allergy-causing ingredients in it, and in fact part of my transaction included exchanging lotion that I was allergic to. So I legitimately couldn't afford the tip by the time all was said and done. None of this personal stuff was Rachel's fault, but I also can't change what I am able to do. I felt awful about it, because she really did an amazing job, and getting some random attitude from the manager didn't help me feel the most comfortable with returning. But I want to make it clear that my limitation today in no way reflects on Rachel or the fantastic work she did and I hope she didn't end up thinking that it did or thinking I was unhappy with her work. I tip well when I can afford it and unfortunately things came together today where I couldn't do that. Hopefully by the time my next appointment comes around I will be in a better place with being able to afford additional things and will be able to give her a nice tip then. All this aside, I definitely recommend Rachel if you were looking for a stylist in the area and have had trouble finding someone great. She's really excellent and takes pride in making sure the finished style looks good! read more

I have been going to the salon for years. Brittany has been my miracle worker. She is not only a master stylist, she is an amazing human. She listens. And does an excellent job. I always get compliments on my hair. And it's all because she has not only colored and cut it perfectly, she has taught me how to keep the style going by example. If you need your hair done. Adding to the many bad reviews this place already has on behalf of my then 8 months pregnant wife because I'm appalled by how she was treated. She had made an appointment and called ahead that she was running 15 minutes late - the receptionist at the time let her know it was okay and that she would notify the hair stylist - mind you she had also been taking care of a toddler, and had to get childcare sorted for this appointment... When she arrived the lady who she booked with told her that she couldn't take her for her appointment because the next client had already arrived ... 1.5 hours early... She then asked her to switch places with the next client because she was 15 minutes late despite her calling ahead. Instead of being served she had her appointment canceled and did not receive service. It's already incredibly difficult to plan ahead and make these kinds of appointments when taking care of two kids only to have your appointment forfeited because you're 15 minutes late after calling ahead. This is pretty egregious service if you ask me but that's probably why this place is already so horribly rated. People deserve better than this - especially pregnant mothers. read more

I usually always shop with Ulta, but I have quit going due to the nature of the places in Spring Hill and Franklin. I am usually always shad matched wrong. So I had very low expectations while going in. But I met a guy who was working the sells floor and he was AMAZING! He color matched me perfectly and helped me find the best foundation. Worst hair cut I have ever gotten at a "professional" salon. The stylist was fresh out of school and was basically razor cutting my hair backwards when I asked for a simple trim. It was so bad a another stylist had to try to fix and then they told me it was not a good cut because I did not get it shampooed first. They lack Basic Skills! Beware! read more

I placed an online order to pick up in the store. The order went through but then was cancelled. The next day I started to place another order that was over $150. It said I could save $30 on the order if I got the Ulta credit card so I applied. I was waiting to place the order but never heard anything back. I then had to call and was told they are backed up so it could be 7-10 days before I hear if I am approved for the credit card. I was making a purchase of sale items and can't wait 7-10 days to hear back. I've applied for plenty of credit cards and get instant answers. I have a credit score of 850 so it should be an automatic response plus it said I was pre-approved. This is the second time I've had issues at Ulta. I went to just exchange an item once same brand just for the volume shampoo instead of the damaged hair. My daughter had purchased it for me and different have an account. They wouldn't even do the exchange. read more

Autumn at the Ulta salon is the BEST! She has truly transformed my hair. I have thick, coarse, curl, frizz prone hair. She suggested a keratin treatment that has improved my hair drastically. Faithful customer for years just became an ex-customer. Sales associates (2) were extremely rude, argumentative, condescending and hateful, without provocation or cause. I guess they hate their jobs? The products they have are decent and they always have what I need in stock, but every time I go I end up waiting on a cashier to help me (especially with their online pick up service, they will ignore for as long as 20 mins), even when I am the only person in their little looped line. This time I was being patient as possible when there is a line building behind me and 4 girls are ignoring me and the people behind me. They were having complications with some schedule which is understandable but I don't think it takes an entire staff to handle that. When one of the girls does finally say I can check out with her she starts mumbling "jesus" under her breath, which is offputting as I have just waited 3 minutes for 4 people to look at me, look away, and go to the other side of the counter. I don't recommend going to this place, I only go because the store is 5 minutes down the road from me. Wish this review would fix something but by the looks of others it likely won't :\ I also would like to add I am a cashier myself, and if I ever treated any customers like this, I would have been written up for my behavior by my company at the very least read more

Don't think about using the curbside pick up early in the morning. Followed the steps through the email, parked and said what car, make, and what spot. Waited for someone to come outside, finished my meal and finally decided to move my car came inside and there's 3 employees just leaning against countertops inside... If you want to be insulted by a hairdresser who is accusing you of lying about what you selected on line this is definitely your place to go. I booked on line but the lady that called me to confirm changed a few things on the appointment. The purple hairdresser said that I did it incorrectly and would not take 10 minutes to cut my hair straight across. Drying was a joke. She half way did it and you could tell she wanted me out of the chair. Hair coloring was horrible. Still orange tones. What a waste of money and time. read more

This location is friendly, large, well organized and clean. This is probably the largest ulta location I have been to. They not only have a large makeup selection but also a large perfume selection. This location is a little further out from me but I would definitely visit it more than my local ulta just from the size alone. read more

Needless to say, I was dreading going in knowing that the product had been purchased quite some time ago. A pretty good Ulta as far as the variety of products, organization of the store and sales that are run here. I haven't ever used the salon, so I can't speak to that part. I will say that I shop here about once every one to two months to stock up on my usual hair products (about $50 a trip), and there is only ONE employee I would identify as being pleasant, and I believe she is one of the managers. The rest of them seem like sorority bunnies with a chip on their shoulders. Maybe they're pissed because I never accept their offer of THREE FREE ISSUES!! of InStyle Magazine, maybe they're freaked out because I don't wear makeup and I bite my nails. Who knows, but they can't seem to crack a smile or speak without spitting their words. Fortunately the attitude is the only thing keeping this otherwise great establishment at three stars, so if you can easily brush off bitchiness you won't find a better place to buy your hair supplies. read more

Ulta...how I wish you were much much closer. I keep imagining one day I'm going to get the news that one will be opening up at Nashville West (plenty of room!) or somewhere in the vicinity(Bellevue Mall anyone?). Ulta is pretty much Sephora's less picky little sister. They have your more expensive brands, drugstore brands, and everything in between. Not to mention they frequently have coupons and actual sales. It makes one stop beauty shopping very easy. The only real problem is that even though it is very well organized it can be overwhelming. That and it can potentially make your boyfriend/husband/significant other cry for mercy and beg to go nowhere near there so they don't have to be stuck there for hours while you try to find that "just one item" you ran in there for (Sorry, Greg!). I really do love Ulta, but I think my wallet continues to thank me for them being a comfortable distance away. read more

The second Ulta to open in Tennessee, and a welcome addition to the new shopping coming to the Middle Tennessee area. This review is only for the store, I have not tried out the hair salon. This is also only for this particular Ulta, and from a male shopping there. Ulta is somewhat less exclusive than Sephora in their product offering, but still carries many of the same upperscale brands though with fewer items from the upperscale lines. If you are shopping for the complete offering of some of these lines you may have to visit Sephora or the Cosmetic Market, though for the basic popular items Ulta probably has them. Ulta does have a GREAT variety and range of products though from upperscale to the more typical brands carried in many hair salons. Ulta carries all sorts of items for men, and women. The store has a great range of perfumes, and colognes. Some are overpriced as compared to other retailers, and others are comparable or even better priced. I was surprised to find most of the lines for men that Sephora carries, though the more rarer items from some lines were not carried. Ulta is a welcome addition overall to the shopping options available in The Avenue at Murfreesboro, and most people shopping there will probably be very pleased with what you can find there. I plan to pick a few things up there myself. read more

They are pretty good in carry a variety of makeup products, but not high end makeup products like Mac. But I stop by every now and then to browse what they have on sale or any new arrivals. Their are 2 things that bother me: 1. clueless sales people and 2. Their products are usually hire than others. I was about to purchase some Benefit skincare products and needed to ask a question. His answer was completely clueless. I know this because I had already researched the product online and the reviews and description did not match what he told me. I ended up not buying any Benefit products. I saw a 1-1/2 Hot Tools Curling Iron at Ulta and wanted it badly. I decided to wait and save a little more money since their price was pretty high -- 54.99 i believe. Then I saw on overstock, for the exact same product, it was only $31.99. I'm glad I didn't spend more than I should have. Other than that, I do like the store and their products are somewhat affordable. read more

This place is hoppin' and fun. The beauty advisors are always eager to help. Sam at Lancôme is really helpful. Tiffany at the Benefit Brow Bar is extremely knowledgeable and professional. I don't think I've ever had someone ask me what I wanted before. I normally just sit down and they do my brows how they like them. Tiffany even offered me tips on how to make my tint last longer. The GM Josh is a pleasure to deal with. They are always helpful in giving advice on using coupons. This location has a full service salon but I can not speak to their quality. It is conveniently location inside The Avenue Shopping Center, close to several hotels if your visiting the area. Parking is always easy to find. I would highly recommend this location! read more

This store is great when it comes to the products they carry. I am able to get all of my beauty needs at one stop, and their rewards and coupons are very helpful and useful. Definitely love shopping here! I have had a facial here, the esthetician was very friendly, informative, and made my skin feel and look great afterwards! Pleased with that as well. As far as the hair salon goes, it's a BIG no-no. Do NOT get your hair done here WHATSOEVER. Every time I've had an appointment, it's always failed miserably. A stylist named Sarah said she wouldn't do my hair the way I wanted her to because she was supposed to get off work in an hour and my requested hair style would take too long. So she ended up doing partial highlights. Afterwards, they were zig-zaggy and made me look like a zebra :-/ She had a different stylist wash it out, when she pointed it out to Sarah, Sarah said, "Oh it's fine." I was VERY VERY unhappy. She didn't care about my hair at all or how it should have looked. Extremely unprofessional. Also, when it comes to using red color, they have no idea what you're doing. I normally love ulta and do not have a problem when I go.Yesterday me and my sister were shopping and I noticed half of the people in the store did not have masks on . So we pulled ours down. When this guy standing in the middle of the store an employee with long dark hair skinny with glasses says all smart did you loose your mask ?? I said no but there's a lot of people not wearing them. He looks around And dose not say anything to anyone els . Then he says In a rude attitude well you should do the right thing. He could of Nicely said could you put your mask on. He's an employee with a bad attitude and talks to customers this way?? Why is this allowed? I spend a lot of money in this store but not anymore I'll take my business to elsewhere!!! My last visit to this Ulta location led me to give this store 5 stars! I don't wear make up most of the time, but lately I've started to dabble into it. I was attending a nice dinner event, so I thought it would be nice to get some lipstick to match my gorgeous dress. I know nothing about lipstick.. and I only have about 20 minutes to pick something out and leave to get ready. I go in and immediately ask for help. I tell the lady that I'm looking for a red that matches my fingernail polish. She went to work! She picked out many different reds and steered me in the right direction. We went to Ulta today and the greeter that was forcing masks and counting people didn't even say hi to us. The customer service was terrible. There were two employees chit chatting and didn't greet or ask if I needed help. The staff used to be friendly, but the last couple times I have been not impressed and won't be back. I believe the employee was named Catherine and i have to say she is the rudest employee i have ever encountered at Ulta Beauty before. Her energy was very negative and she answered all of my questions with attitude. She looked so unhappy to be working there that i couldn't wait to leave. She also was dressed unprofessionally and i don't think it was appropriate for this kind of store. I spend a lot of money at Ulta and i expect better. PLEASE put more professional and friendly workers at the front of your store to represent your company. So unprofessional and really ruined my entire experience at this establishment. I absolutely love Ulta as a whole. It's a wonderful place that is filled with all of a person's makeup essentials. This particular store is just kind of irritating due to the fact that they take quite a while to restock shelves so they may be out of a product for more than a month, which is inconvenient. Another annoying trait of this particular store is the attitude of some of the workers. Some of them immediately judge people when they walk in the door. Just because I chose to not wear makeup on my outing today doesn't mean I don't know how to wear it so please do not assume that I have no clue what I'm doing in the store. Also, when a customer asks for an opinion on a beauty product, it's a good idea to not be so rude in telling them that they are wasting their time because the product will not have any affect on them or wouldn't look good. The lady that helped me was very nice and showed me a couple different products but I felt like she showed me the most expensive items in the store. When I went to check out there was a line all the way to the corner of the store. I asked if I could check out at the back register and she simply stated no. Murfreesboro, TN store: I am about done with this store. They've gutted the loyalty programs to the point where they are meaningless. And they should just stop sending out the worthless $3.50 coupons. I bought a Loreal mascara in there last week and they wouldn't take the coupon because they said it was a prestige brand. Really? I can get it at WalMart or any grocery store and it's a prestige brand? I questioned this and the clerk agreed that basically these coupons can never be redeemed. I can't even imagine what you could actually use the coupon on. I don't think I have ever successfully used one of them. Better to not give them than use them to deceive people and end up annoying them. I should have walked out. Wish I would have. read more

This review is for the salon. From the start it was a pleasant experience, with really nice and friendly staff. My stylist was Ashley Renee . I've gone to her twice now, and both times I think she did a really good job. She didn't recommend high priced treatments or products, which most places I go to try and do. She's also really nice and she was helpful. I'd definitely trust her to do my hair. read more
