I am very disgusted with a Master stylist Melissa who answered my call. I was trying to reschedule an appointment I was needing to change because my stylist was going to be on vacation. She was rude and huffy and let out a sigh of disgust when I asked about the price of a senior stylist. I told her I did not need a senior stylist because I am just a grey coverage nothing fancy! Melissa was unprofessional and refused to give me a price for the services of the senior stylist. Why should I not know the cost. And when I told her I wanted to find someone else she got mad. How does that even happen that they delete the texts or they are careless to send confirmations without even booking appointments?? I didn't receive what I thought I had clearly explained. I wanted my highlights brighter and more dimension. I also stated I liked my base. I ended up with only a partial highlight and all my other highlights were coved by a darker base. Now when I put my hair up you see zero highlights. Went 2 weeks ago for my second appointment. Asked for highlights to my blonde hair and about an inch trim. I specifically said I did not want red, green, purple, blue, etc hair. After the 3.5 hour appointment, I had red roots with some blonde highlights and more than 2 inches cut off. Wasn't happy (and the stylist knew it) but paid (and tipped) and left. Went back last week for a detox (was there for another hour) treatment and now all of my hair is red. Just canceled my April appointment so they have an opening if you need to make an appointment if you are interested in paying a lot to not get what you asked for. read more

BIG CITY STYLING in Murfreesboro! This privately owned trendy Aveda Lifestyle salon is out of this world for Murfreesboro. Tangerine received the Salon Today 200 award for being in the top 200 fastest growing salons in the nation according to their website! It is confirmed by what I have experienced! I had my hair cut here twice, once by one of the owners who was great, and last time by Seohee Lee who is just AMAZING. She will be my new stylist for a long time to come. She comes from a well known high end salon in a much bigger city, and so has great cred. I have never had such a dynamic styling and it really felt like being cut by a stylist in Las Angeles or New York. All of the stylists here though seem very cool, and trendy. I am sure they all do a good job as this salon has a very high standard of excellence. It is an Aveda Lifestyle salon, which is Aveda's highest rating. I've come to Tangerine off and on for the past few years and usually end up with a cut that I'm happy with. However, the last time I went was a total nightmare. The girl that I typically went to ended up leaving the salon so my appointment was changed to be with a new stylist who not only bad-mouthed my previous stylist (totally unprofessional) and then proceeded to butcher my balayage. I showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted but she somehow still managed to make my hair look like I had a bunch of stringy, grown out highlights. I ended up paying around $250 for a color that was not at all like what I asked for. Then she had the audacity to tell me to "see if I might grow to like it over a couple of days." I was VERY unhappy walking out, especially considering that I was about to leave for vacation with a horrible dye job that I couldn't get fixed quickly. Thankfully I was able to book a correction appointment with Megan who is the whole reason for the good review. She talked me through every step of what she was doing, which helped me relax tremendously after getting a bad cut. She even gave me a complimentary hair treatment to prevent my hair from being fried! She fixed my hair perfectly, and the cherry on top is that I've gotten many compliments on my hair after she worked her magic. I'm looking forward to being her client for a long time! read more

My husband got me a gift certificate for Tangerine for mothers day. I was concerned about how much he spent, because I know it was not cheap, but it was worth it!! The services you receive are definitely worth the cost. I got a spa pedicure and a cut and color. The person who did my hair was very professional, as well as personable. Which is important. No one wants to sit in a chair silently for 2 hours. I can say the same for the person who did my pedi. The customer service is outstanding!! My color is also amazing, exactly what I wanted. I would have never chosen this place on my own. My hair stylist, Nicole Waggoner, moved here and I followed her. She is the only person that I let touch my hair. They are a little over priced in my opinion but Nicole takes good care of me. I just wish they would give me a bottled water instead of a glass because I have bad hands and I am always afraid that I am going to drop the glass. Sure they aren't cheap but you pay for the knowledge base and the service. Anyone who complains about their haircut on Yelp but doesn't voice their opinion to the stylist or give the salon the opportunity to fix it isn't giving you an accurate picture of the business' service. WAY overpriced for who they think they are!! I was charged $130 for cut and color (which is fine) BUT to be charged $28 for toner and $17 for a second color which I didn't get, (I asked for chunks of burgandy, but it's all blonde) was ridiculous! I talked to a manager and she was VERY UNFRIENDLY and told me I was not over charged. I have never in my lifetime had to have toner put in my hair in the first place, much less be charge $28 for it. Didn't really listen to what I asked for in regard to color and style. They also said "that style won't work with your hair texture" and just left it at that instead of offering up alternative styles that might be similar. I also felt like they were not as friendly as some of the other salons I've been to in Chattanooga and Nashville. I came here on a recommendation from a friend. I wanted it cut much shorter than what it currently was and I thought coming to a real salon would give me a better result than the typical inexpensive haircut places. After I explained it to the stylist, she kept asking if I was sure and then basically said maybe I should wait and think about it. I could sense that she really didn't want to do it, maybe it would have taken too much time. So she just trimmed it the way it was. I was very disappointed because I really did want it cut differently. I just don't think she wanted to bother with it.
