Upon entering as a new customer I was immediately greeted by Jason (owner) who was very friendly, along with the rest of the staff. This is the most I have ever paid for this service (it never cost me more than $30). Not sure if that what it should cost or the guy made a mistake (charge for beard line $18 and trim $7 separately). I am a professional driver and was in town for the weekend and needed to get cleaned up. I just happened to find Drakes and Im glad I did. When I first walked in I was pleasantly greeted. It was quite crowded which is a good sign. There were about 10 people waiting some with children. The decor was a mixture of Military, country, sports. I had always thought a quality cut was a long cut. Anyway, I stopped in. Here was my experience, short and sweet: Shook hands with Justin and was seated. We talked immediately and he made me confident that he could fix my hair. In 15 minutes the man gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had. I've been coming to Drake's for ~18mo's, and these guys are great. Justin usually cuts my hair, but Jason does a bang-up job as well. I've prob come here 30x or so, and it's never taken longer than 45min. It seems like they have the perfect # of customers to maintain flow all day long. I frequented Shave for the first 6mo's I lived here, but grew tired of the insanely long waits and, on a minor note, I couldn't walk in with a $20 and leave with shorter hair unless I didn't tip my barber...(don't get me wrong, the gents at Shave do a good job. They just SUCK at managing customer flow. This may have changed?). Finally, to the confederate flag comment, I'm pretty sure it's a Sons of Confederate Veterans flag. Personally, I can't fault anyone who's proud of their family's history defending the homefront. I've seen every ethnicity come through, and haven't ever heard any kind of racist buffoonery. read more
