3c 4a ladies be wary, it seems as if they are not equipped to manage, hydrate or style our hair type. They refuse refunds but instead insist on "a redo". Total waste of $300 to wake up with hair that felt like straw. Do not recommend. You'll feel like a circus exhibit. I was encouraged... basically strong armed to reschedule, and if still unsatisfied, I may have received a possible refund. In the interim, not only did I catch covid hindering my ability to go back and be experimented on, I also had to repeatedly see a stylist that understands my hair type in order to nurse my curls/coils back to health. This was the first time going to a salon that specializes in curly hair and I LOVED IT! As someone extremely particular about who touches my hair, Theresa was very understanding. I received the Deva Curl Cut along with highlighting and loved every minute of it. Theresa explained everything to me during every bit of the process and taught me ways to keep moisture in my hair incorporate it at home. The decor of the salon was great, so chic and awesome. Theresa is great with curly hair. But it's a bait and switch. I went to her specifically looking for someone to style my curly hair. She did the first visit. Then after that she colors or cuts it then you're handed off to someone else for wash and style. Curly hair styling starts at the wash and not everyone can do it and I have never left happy since. I pay a lot of money to leave upset and un happy. It's very unfortunate that she makes you think she'll be doing your hair but reality is she doesn't. read more

I have gone to this salon for a long time now and I have seen many of the staff there for my hair. I love the atmosphere and the staff has been really friendly. I usual leave with liking my hair, but it wasn't until I saw Clint and left with absolutely LOVING my hair. Clint is extremely talented and he really took the time to really listen to what I want and do exactly that. In the past I've stated what I wanted and it didn't necessarily come out exactly how I wanted, but Clint really takes time to listen and make sure he hears what you want and delivers! I also feel like my time flies by too when I see him because he just is so awesome to talk to. I also want to mention I have been so scared to trim or cut my hair because of past experiences, but with Clint I know when I tell him I want a trim it will be just that and nothing extra. After a disappointing experience at what was once my favorite salon in Cool Springs, I found Juel in Franklin after scouring Yelp and the internet and, now, I'm not going anywhere else. It's right across from the Franklin Farmer's Market. I had just moved back to Tennessee after being away for over 20 years. I had had my hair long and very short and all parts in between. I had pixie cuts in Vientiane, Laos, corporate cuts in Bangkok, my first must-have color job in New Jersey from an Italian mensch who knew how to give me an edgy pixie cut and who cut off post pregnancy hair that was down to the middle of my back. My sister is a meticulous Aveda stylist with 30 years of experience who tut tuts over my hair whenever I see her and with swift strokes of her shears brings my pixie back into shape and then we celebrate with a glass of wine. So, with all that, you can imagine my despair at having to find a new stylist and being somewhat of a local girl who used to wear my hair big and coiffed and high maintenance, I was really worried that I wouldn't find what I really wanted now--someone who could give me an edgy, minimalist pixie cut (not exactly at the top of the list of favorite feminine hair styles in Franklin TN) and who would help me maintain my natural color and not take advantage of me in a moment of weakness, on a hot July day, and send me skipping out of the salon with frosted tips and flinging me into mourning my weakness like a bad hangover the next day. I've seen frosted tips look great on many women. It wouldn't look good on me at all. I'd look like a sick puffer fish. So, I called several salons and chatted and interviewed. "Do you have a stylist who loves to cut short hair?" At only one salon of the 4 I called did I speak to someone who not only said "yes"emphatically, but also shared that she had just had her incredibly thick and beautiful dark head of hair shorn down to a damn beautiful pixie, but also that the woman who did the deed worked right there and would be happy to see me. The woman who specializes in short cuts here is Elise Hughes. She's my stylist. Elise truly listens. She's not doing her own thing to me. She listens, guides, suggests....if you want a suggestion. She has high integrity and is that stylist who isn't going to blow smoke up your arse. If it's not for you, she'll tell you. But you have to listen for it. She's kind, soft spoken, and polite. She's a former dancer with fiery red hair and pretty tattoos. She sounds lovely, doesn't she? The folks at Juel take very good care of me. The salon space is beautiful. Airy, flooded with light. Bustling. There is also a quiet space where you can lounge away from the bustle, too. As soon as you get changed into your smock, you'll have a glass of wine in hand and be led to your favorite place to relax. And they're not limited to hair here. They do facials, eyelash extensions (love this but I have allergies *sniff*), and some other discreet things.... read more

While visiting family in the Nashville area, I decided that I needed a haircut. I found a highly trained Deva Certified stylist in Franklin who received excellent ratings. I have been having my hair cut in Manhattan at the Devachan salon for more than 25 years, so I am very familiar with their philosophy and their methods. Patience Barton-Moore, my stylist, was friendly, kind, professional and a great listener. She gave me a great haircut and lots of ideas about how to use products to get the look I feel comfortable with. I would highly recommend this stylist and will most certainly return to this salon when I m back in Nashville. read more

I'm sorry, but I don't really understand the value of a Deva Cut. I have curly hair and was desperate for someone to cut my hair right, and decided to try this place out. It honestly wasn't any better than my previous stylist, who charges half as much. Also, their Deva Cut is more than double the price of their regular cuts. It seems ridiculous I should have to pay more just because I was born with curly hair.... especially if the cut isn't even that different from what I was getting before! I tried to ask what is so special about the Deva Cut, and all they could tell me is that they cut hair dry. Honestly, I'll just be returning to my previous stylist. I had my first haircut since December (thanks COVID) at Juel. They were able to make an appointment with me relatively quickly, when every other salon in the Nashville area had a months long waiting list, which I appreciated. I saw Allie Rae for a circle cut and I was pleased with the result. She listened to what I wanted and was very friendly and chatty. I was pleased with the measures that had been taken to mitigate COVID (plexiglass partitions in between the hair washing sinks, wipe downs of the drying chairs in between, social distancing of customers at different stylists stations) while still providing some of the perks of a salon (wine haha). Allie Rae was so sweet and very engaging, I loved chatting with her about hair and life in general! My only complaint is that she had to do another cut in the middle of my cut (I.e. not while I was drying) so I had to wait awhile. Other than that, pretty good experience! read more

Tried them out since they're close to home, but will definitely not be going back. I was in the salon this past Saturday to get my hair washed by Allistar. I was so excited to come here because of all the rave I've followed by naturally curly girls on YouTube. So I ended up making 3 appointments every other week b/c I'm 5mos pregnant and just don't have energy to do my hair myself anymore. I was scheduled to get a Deva Cut on June 1st and another wash on June 16th. But I ended up canceling all my appointments after Saturday's experience. Allistar did great with washing my hair. The part that frustrated me was when he put me under the dryer for 30mins. I don't use heat on my hair because my curls only shrivel up and dry out. One of the sweet ladies whose station was up front came and turned my dryer down for me. Once he came to take me out from the dryer I was disappointed. He couldn't figure out how to get my curls lower. So he said to his assistant, "Take her over there to figure it out because I give up"! I kept my composure and went with her. She sprayed watered down conditioner on my hair and tried her best to stretch out the curls for me. I told her it's okay. She walked me up front to check out while Allistar was working on another client. He didn't bother say goodbye, sorry, thank you or anything! I went home to do my own hair b/c it was a dry brillo pad. I called the Salon once I left the house to go shopping and canceled ALL of my future appointments. The lady apologized and told me that the manager would give me a call on Tuesday. But I haven't heard anything and have called every day since Monday and no response from the manager. I had been coming here for blow outs for a year now but had never gotten a full-on cut and color. Great prices, great service and excellent results. I decided to get my hair highlighted and was so surprised that I was not gouged on the price. I was actually given a price range before I started and asked if it was ok. Katie A. was awesome and took her time to make sure I was getting what I wanted every step of the way. My color looked great and I can't wait to go back. The atmosphere is trendy but not pretentious. There was some offering of products, which I don't love. But the truth is, the products that were used made my hair feel fantastic. Just can't afford them on a regular basis. Today was my first visit to Juel Salon in Franklin. What a positive experience! My stylist Amber took time to listen to my needs, and did an amazing job on my cut and highlights. I left feeling like a million bucks - maybe two million. The salon itself is filled with natural light and has a modern, open, clean style. It's very comfortable right down to the fully reclining shampoo bowls. Excellent product line, friendly and accommodating receptionist staff, and the creative staff of stylists includes experts for every type of hair. I just recently moved to the area and this place was recommended by a coworker. First visit was somewhat of a disaster. I had highlights that I was transitioning back to a dark full color. I do take some fault as I allowed the stylist to talk me out of my original plan for something else. The end results were super dark roots and light hair - but not blended enough to be ombré. Took three hours and I was very unhappy w the results. Called and came back for a color correction with a new stylist. She fixed my color and gave me a free trim since I never got a cut the first time. I am very happy with how it was handled. They went out of their way to make sure I left happy the second time. I will go back and I appreciate their customer service to keep my business as a new client. Saw the first stylist again and she was very polite to me, no hard feelings at all between us. I waited a while to write this review because I wanted to see if the salon would right the situation, but ultimately they didn't. I'm pregnant and delivering this month. Having seen the largely positive reviews, I called to explain that I wanted something relatively low maintenance since I don't plan on coming in for a while. The girl recommended baylage and recommended a stylist who was their "baylage expert". I told her exactly what I wanted (something natural with my darker color going into a nice blonde) even showed her pictures. She turned my hair into a brassy mess. It was a disaster. I paid almost $300 dollars with gratuity for this. I was furious. I spoke to the salon about it and they scheduled a "correction visit" with another stylist. Her solution was to glaze it. So she did and two days later without even washing it, the color looks just as bad as it did before. I call them again and they schedule another "correction visit" and all she does is glaze it again despite my explanation that it returned to the terrible brass color without shampooing. They obviously didn't want to put any real time into actually doing color correction or fixing the problem. I'm so frustrated and disappointed because my goal of low maintenance was completely tossed out the window as I went three times only to have the mistakes the first stylist made return in less than a week. Now, I have to try and find another salon who is capable to fix the disaster that is my hair. I do not recommend this salon. read more

I would give this salon a zero if I could. I requested for my hair to be trimmed and a deep treatment and I got neither. Instead of a trim I got a chop nearly 6 inches! Now I have to wait until March to get my length back. Although the hairdresser was nice I told her it was too short and she didn't like the fact I kept saying how short she cut it, and although she apologized I can't get my hair back. Furthermore, it was the worst style I have even been given by anyone in the hair industry. When I got home I called them because I don't feel I should have payed nearly 200 for a hair school cut and wash and go style. No deep conditioning just a cut, wash and style for almost 200! They didn't answer, so I decided to do some research on their website. The person who cut my hair isn't listed as one of their stylist. For all I know the receptionist cut my hair. I called prior to my appointment and told them everything about my hair, and specifically said if you don't know how to do ethnic hair please let me know because I could of went somewhere else, and spent a quarter of the price. I'm so traumatized by the event I spent the whole evening crying and will never let anyone touch my hair again. The stylist if she is a stylist needs to be retrained and know the difference between a trim and chop, and learn how to style hair. A three year old could of done a better job. Furthermore, I will be doing more research on this salon because if they have unlicensed stylist doing hair that's illegal. Do not go to this salon you have been warned! read more

Awful business ethics! Stylist and technique may be good but I bought over $100.00 in product that my stylist used. I did not know my hair would turn to straw within a couple of hours. Signage that I read I stated returns for refund within 14 days. I returned UNOPENED products TWO days later to find out I had been screwed!! Oh well live and learn, my advice is find ANOTHER salon!! Good salons can be hard to find but they are out there! Find them and leave this one alone! I spent $202.00 to have dried out hair and be screwed over. read more

As I was turning into the parking garage I noticed steam coming out from under the hood of my car. What do do! I arrived for my appointment upset and shaken. Oh, and without my phone! Kelly gave me her phone and helped me get my car taken away. No time for a facial. She called me later in the day and scheduled an appointment for me the following day. I went to Juel Salon about 5 times over the course of a year or 2. They never really did what I asked, the last time I was there I had requested a shoulder length bob and walked out with my hair chopped to my ears...so I haven't been back. I asked several times to change stylists and the front desk doesn't like to do that and makes it seem like it's actually discouraged so I never was able to try anyone else out. They always say they'll call to let you know a product is in (because every time they'd push a product and I'd actually decide to try it they were sold out), but they never called. They never called to ask why I didn't return, but they constantly send me emails telling me I should "treat myself" and come in. These emails are just encouragement to schedule an appointment but offer no incentive to do so. Other salons offer something (discount, product, extras) if they email you asking for your business but not this place. They are extremely expensive and don't offer the service to make it worth the price. I go to a salon in Green Hills now and love it. I always get what I want, my stylist listens to me and the front desk staff are friendly and helpful. My hair looks better than ever for a fraction of the cost. Maybe now that they know I was disappointed they will stop clogging up my inbox! read more

I've never been much for ritzy places, and my initial reaction to entering the salon was that it was one of this crazy ritzy, expensive places where you don't feel comfortable. BUT, I was completely wrong!! Very friendly people who have made customer service a huge priority. They asked me if I wanted something to drink- Including coffee and wine. They have cucumber infused water which was fantastic. The staff was right on top of offering you a refill and getting things cleaned up afterwards. The reason I came was to get a Deva cut. I find this the best cut for my curly hair. They finally have to Deva stylists- Teresa and Patience. Patience was amazing!!! I had an interview this week and couldn't get in as a new customer for a cut for another month. But I came in for their free consultation and Patience fit me in for the cut anyways. She was fantastic. Even though she had to do some finagling to fit me in. She answered all my questions, made some good recommendations that I'll be trying between now and my next cut, and never made me feel like I was being rushed out the door for the next client to come in. CURLY HAIR PEOPLE: try a Deva cut and the DevaCurl line of products. I fought my curls forever. I've tried so many curly hair products, but wasn't happy because they'd always weight my hair down. But Deva? It's awesome!! Yes, the cut is expensive at $100, BUT you typically don't go back for 6 months, so it's not that bad in the end. I have short hair and had an amazing stylist in my last place of residence. After moving to Franklin I found an Aveda salon since I've had nothing but great experiences at other Aveda salons.....it was a COMPLETE disaster I walked away in tears with the most horrendous "page boy" haircut. So looking for a place after that was terrifying. I found This place after lots of review searching, and it was great from the beginning! The receptionist was very concerned that I get the right stylist after hearing about my last experience. Whitney is FABULOUS as a stylist! I'm one of those horrible clients that doesn't know how to explain what I want very well and have pictures of styles that my hair just won't do with the amount of work I'm willing to put into it. But she pulled a rabbit out and gave me an even better haircut than I was expecting. The atmosphere is great and all of the front desk staff have never been anything but great for me. I do have to say that they are always extremely busy which usually leads to appointment delays which sucks. For that I would deduct stars, but Whitney is such an awesome stylist I would give her extra stars if possible therefore the 5 stars. read more
