My usual stylist at Sola Salons was mortified less than a week later and requested I send this video to warn others. The customer service is awful. I called to set up an apt. The girl who answered the phone would not listen to my issues with my hair extensions. She talked over me, she was not listening, I know what is wrong with my hair extensions, she did not, and making an apt became impossible. I was being nice. The girl must not have been taught the customer is tight. THEN SHE HUNG UP ON ME. When i called back the next girl who answered the phone refused to tell me the first girls name. I spent about $900 dollars on hair extensions only to have the phone hung up on me. While I like the man doing my hair the rest of the salon is less than desirable. Esp their customer service. For the amount of money I have spent there plus my very generous tip, I expect better. I can spend my money better elsewhere. read more

The staff are all so nice. Anna is my stylist and she's fabulous with color. I love fun colors. Presently my hair is burgundy and she did an excellent job with it and she loves doing it. So overall I had a really nice experience! Booking an appointment was so easy, the salon is very clean, big parking lot, kind staff. Zero complaints there. I think hair reviews are tricky as it's all that, but also in how the stylist listens and executes. And it's a big deal because it's your head, exposed all the time, to everyone. While everyone I met, including the stylist I saw, were beyond nice and wanting to help, unfortunately it was a fail on the execution. All I needed was a cut (1 inch) and base applied to my grays. It took two go rounds to get the gray, and while the color looks great now, just a little alarming it took a second go. I've never had anyone have that issue before. But more importantly, I hate my haircut. Nothing that can be done about it but wait it out... but I asked for a cut where it skimmed my collarbone, on shoulders. It's 2 inches shorter than that now. I'll be wearing it up in a clip for a while until it grows enough I'm comfortable leaving it down. If you find your person who listens to you and does well with your hair here, definitely a win! But with this being my first experience, I definitely will not be returning to try again. read more

The hair stylist I started going to colored my hair with the wrong color. She used a color from 2 previous appointments. I asked the front desk what could be done and they said they would reschedule me for a complimentary color the following Saturday. I had just spent 3 hours getting my color where she doubled book me and someone else for a cut. After my rinse I had to wait 20 minutes for her to finish the other lady. I went back to have my color corrected and waited in the lobby for 30 minutes. They said it would not be much longer. Then 15 minutes later, they said the client was asking for a lot of other services so they would not be able to get to me. I was furious. They are way overpriced and could care less about their clients. I will never go back or recommend anyone to this salon. read more

They studio is a scam unless they train their staff in hair coloring and stying. I visited the shop and asked for root touchups but came out with 3-4 inches of black roots beneath the highlighted brown hair (Thanks to Miss Avery). When I complained, they asked me to pay again and assigned a nicer worker who immediately told me that this cannot be fixed unless you get the entire head bleached first. When I reached out to te management, they simply told me that they would not fix anything and bad things happen. When I tried to stop payment on the first attempt when they had knowingly messed up my hair, the management all of sudden found time to tell my credit card company that the services were done and no refund is allowed. I think, this is the type of studios that deserve to close down before they color everyone green. What a shameless business! They would do great in countries where you have to live with whatever after payment is made. In plain English these guys are scammers and I don't want anyone else to go through the same. Been there twice. Staff are friendly, but I'm there for a 'hopefully' good haircut. The stylist was to be an upper leveled with a higher clientele, from what I was told. Don't know if it's the inside of the shop that first draws people or what. Through experience I've learned that a good stylist can be detected by the quickness they use their scissors.. they know EXACTLY the style you're wanting and know EXACTLY how to execute the cut... not having to go over and over it, snipping here and there. You can tell how they use their scissors. You shouldn't have to keep telling them, this side needs to be shorter, or the back is still too thick, etc. There are plenty of hairstyle photos you can show them and they should be able to tell you by the type of hair you have if it will come out looking like that or maybe look for another style that fits your type of hair. read more

DO NOT TRUST THE STYLISTS I took my girlfriend to get a trim and they ended up cutting off over 6 inches of her hair. her hair was past her waist and the stylist was telling her that he wasnt taking off any length. wouldnt show her what he was cutting and turned her away from the mirror. her hair is now above her bust. they have destroyed her hair and it will probably take 3 years to regain that growth. I went there for a change and Caitlyn dances was phenomenal to work with. She gave me an honest opinion before chopping off my locks. I considered getting bangs and asked her to help me with my curls. She recommended that I do one drastic thing before doing a couple drastic things I may not end up liking. I've never felt the need to write a negative review but my experience at this salon was terrible. I was in town for the weekend and scheduled an appointment for a blowout to have nice professionally done hair, but my experience was less than professional in every aspect. When I called to schedule the appointment the lady on the phone named Dana gave me so much attitude that I ignored thinking it was a one off thing. When I show up it turns out that Dana had double booked my stylist so she wasn't available for my blowout. No worries, it happens. I didn't make a fuss and calmly waited while they figured things out, but Dana gave me attitude the whole time like it was somehow my fault. I was told another stylist would be available in about 30 minutes, I waited because I didn't want to risk not finding anyone available at others salons. I finally get seated and had my service done but could feel the hostility. The girl was rude and kept tugging at my hair. A few day later I realized that chunks of my hair had been burned off. I didn't get the name of the stylist but she was also rude and apparently didn't know what she was doing so burn my hair off. Dana was the worst overall, but I can only take this as a learning opportunity: pay attention to negative reviews! read more

I have been going to the same person at this Salon since I moved here in August of 2021, as well as my Mother and Daughter. I had an appointment last Sunday scheduled with my Mom. Our appointment was for 11:30 and at 10:22 I received a text from the stylist saying she would not be in the salon and asked if there was any other day that would work. After responding a few times that day with different days and no response, I thought maybe there was some type of emergency and just waited for a response . I then reached out on Wednesday and expressed that I hope she was ok and asked if she wanted me to call the salon to reschedule or if she wanted to do it herself. No response. I called the Salon the next day and was told that she is going to Esthetician school and did not know her schedule. I was told that she would have a Manager call me back very shortly and as of Friday night....no word. I came to Studio Gaven on a whim. I tried dying my hair blonde out of a box. Hoping that this salon could help me and ease my spirits after it had turned a brassy yellow/orange. I was set up with Brittany and was not welcomed with open arms. I told her I obviously wanted to keep the blonde but get rid of the orangyness. She said the ONLY option was to glaze it orange and dye it black. $180 later I walked out with WET black hair (couldn't even blow dry it for almost two hundred dollars). The atmosphere is nice and the prices are reasonable. The hairstylist I had last did a good job on my haircolor, but she talked way too much so while I will probably return to Gavin - I will find a different stylist. A couple tips I found out - They have "New Talent Nights" where you can get the rates discounted (just know it is because they are new talents, hence the name). They also have a good referral program where you get $25 off your next service for every person you refer to the salon. Also be sure to bring cash or check to tip your hairstylist separate because they will not let you add to your credit card receipt. read more

I had to add to my former review of Kirby and Studio Gaven that the experience got even worse and downright laughable as I realized right after I left my last review that Kirby had the back of my hair a totally different color than the front. Plus, they only use Redken color--it is the most damaging to our hair and the worst when it comes to chemicals. A week after I was left with this terrible color in the back of my hair that is naturally red--which was some sort of yellow/orange washed out color, I found a senior stylist who got it in great shape at a top salon in the area who does Wella. I got a Morrocan Oil hydrating treatment, and a shot of healthy red to make my hair the right color again. It was just that quickly that my hair became healthy and pretty. She said that she had heard many horror stories about this salon, Studio Gaven. She said, "Your hair should never look this way after only a week of getting it colored." So Kirby was really right when she said we were not the right fit. I am back to my Wella, Morrocan Oil products and Aveda to keep my hair healthy and have no desire to even keep the Redken formula that Kirby Rimmer gave me, as it left me with a terrible yellowish gold in the back of hair, which was a totally different color than the front, which was actually not right either. Tonight, as I write this, I have healthy hair. I want to recommend a very fair place filled with professionals called Lifetime Spa, where I go, inside my Lifetime Fitness, which is a luxury gym, in the Franklin area. They use Wella. Ask for Ashley, a senior colorist and stylist, and you will not be sorry. They also carry the entire Morrocan Oil line, which is perfect for my course, curly, naturally red hair. Loren at The Mirror (an Aveda salon in Nashville) has cut my hair for years and has never once given me a bad cut. Use either top salon and you will be with professionals who do not try to add on treatments without telling you the price, etc. (Also see reviews on "The Studio by Gaven" as they are all negative reviews and about the same place). read more

I recently moved to Tennessee from Chicago and was definitely a little scared at trying a new hair salon/stylist. It can be very overwhelming researching all the hair salons in the area and trying to find one that has everything you are looking for. However, the moment I walked up to the desk at Studio Gaven all my worries were washed away. The salon itself is clean with a nice relaxing atmosphere and the ladies at the counter made me fell very welcomed. My haircut was with Missy and she was wonderful in every way possible. She was very attentive and made me feel as if I was visiting an old friend...not going to a salon for the first time. Not to mention the haircut itself was amazing! I had to cut off all my hair! It's so sad because it took me forever to grow. On Friday April 9, I made an appointment for hair color with Zoe. The front desk people happily recommended her to me and said she was the best "color specialist". I was excited to meet her at my consultation and she made me feel comfortable. I had showed her the picture of the hair color I wanted and she said she can do it. Then after my consultation we decided to schedule the service for the next day Saturday April 10th. After 2 plus hours and lots of damage to my hair, the results look nothing like the picture I showed her. Even after Zoe messed up my hair instead of apologizing she and almost everyone at the studio we're trying to convince me that this is the same color as in the picture I showed them. I was shocked because how can a "color specialist" say both these pictures are the same hair color. But apparently that's the case at this salon so please be careful make sure you pick someone that sees the same color that you do! This is why I couldn't accept their offer to change my hair color after they messed up. If the salon and I are seeing different colors for the same picture then unfortunately we are not a match. I will never be going back here but if you want to experiment with this place like I did then the only person I can recommend here is Angel Brewer. He has his own website too you can google him. Good luck everyone and pay attention to the red flags if you have any hesitation get off that salon chair please don't let them abuse your hair. I had to learn my lesson the hard way but I hope I can use this experience to help others. read more
